Well, this one went off in a few directions. It seems fairly confirmed at this point that the Emperor is beginning to if not return, then strengthen his presence. The real question though is - if he returns, what form will it take, and more importantly what will it mean for humanity. What is the Emperor's long term agenda, is he a positive or negative force, has he lost all sense and care for human concepts of morality long ago? Tell me your thoughts. ENJOYED? PLEASE DO LIKE THE VID.
The Emperor is a positive force for humanity. That being said, I think that him returning would turn him into a 40k Rand Al'Thor, unless he were allowed some serious R&R first.
GW owes you massive commissions. Just myself and my friend group alone have spent well into the thousands of dollars on plastic crack as a direct result of becoming invested in the 40k verse from viewing your content.
@@Ed-rg4do on what grounds would they be able to shut his videos down? discussion of the information from their books? GW shutting down lore channels would be disastrous for them
Brother Luetin, you have helped so much with my depression and anxiety, especially at night when it's hard to sleep. The Omnissiah bless you for your diligence and passion for 40K!
Stand stalwart brother, and remember! There is triumph at the end of the grim darkness! Also, please note if a bald dude with a book tattooed on his face starts spewing random alternative facts at you, DO NOT LISTEN TO THE WEIRD BALD MAN! :D
Here's a bit of fun fan speculation from the early 2000s 40k resurgence, evocative of "The Emperor's Daemons" by the individual known as "Brusilov" from Warseer. (Amusingly, these 20-year old conversations are based upon background from 30-year old materials!) Anyway, the gist was to view the Emperor as a Trinity: * The Corpse * The Child * The Twin "The Corpse" is formed of the physical remains of the Emperor that sits upon the Golden Throne. Back in the days, this was suggested to be the fragmenting "Many Mind" of the Shaman that created the first New Man. This was the entity that you encountered in Watson's "Inquisitor" (which you note as problematic). "The Child" was the Star Child--the soul and central power/psychic energy of the New Man. On the other hand, "The Twin" (or the Dark Twin) was the warp god that is formed from the worship of the Emperor. It is the god of vengeance, purity, and murder. It empowers the Living Saints. It's the source of power for Imeprial apotropaism. In essence, "The Twin" is the old Warhammer god, "Malal". Let the fun ensue. :D
Oof, yeah that's old Since Malice is older than the Emperor being in the golden throne and, mind you, higly speculated, to be the 2nd primarch But it doesn't invalidate the fact that there should be a warp god represented by/being The Emperor
I love hearing more theories and thoughts about the Emperor. It's hard to find characters as deep and conflicting as he is. Every time he's on the page he just takes over the scene completely.
He is after all the Master of Mankind if he didn't have the presence of a God he wouldn't be the Master of Mankind. So much he hides and says yet nothing is shown the enigma and revelation
He really isn't that deep. Obfuscation and secrets are what make him a compelling figure. I hope we never get answers because they will never be as interesting as the questions.
Things I want to take away from this guy of whom is likely a highly intelligent high school physics teacher, is to give things a great deal of thought with as much initiative as possible, and to go back on various ideas again and again as you gain more knowledge or develop new ideas. Throughout my entire life, I’ve been actively trying to improve my own intelligence through the use of these ideals.
The work you are doing for the community is indescribable, Luetin. You go to such depths and ask questions from a perspective that I don't think many of us have or have even considered because we are so focused on one part that it is simply does not occur before those questions are asked. You make the Emperor such an incredibly fascinating character. Keep up the absolutely phenomenal work, my man. Your uploads are pure joy.
I do think it's time for 40k to enter a new chapter. The rebirth of the Emperor would bring back old fans in droves. But you would need him to occupy the same narrative space as he always has. The rebirth in the warp allows him to continue to be an icon and a presence without actually having to make many physical appearances. And it finally, finally, moves the story forward in meaningful ways.
I bet the Star Child won't be him, but a result of ten thousand years worth of growing power and subjugating minor chaos gods and creates a local pocket in the Warp in order to create a separate being. Most likely would consume the Astronomicon at the same time, creating an opposing version of the Eye of Terror and Tyranids are pulled towards it while chaos incursions move to the dark imperium
I believe that the reason Malcador states that "The Emperor was not the Emperor before me" or whatever was because the man who was the to be the Emperor had yet to fully embrace his psychic self and via Malcador he was able to gaze deeper into the Warp than ever thought possible before where he found the answer to the question he had asked Malcador and the reason Malcador had combined his powers with Neoth: Q: How to preserve humanity against this vile warp threat? A: Conquer the very stars themselves. and imo Neoth got this message from the only person he could trust; his own future self which would have to be who leads humanity into this age which would end up being The God Emperor. In much the same way that Big E described that his foresight is great but flawed, that he can see his end-goal and how to get to it but not the consequences of trying, it could be understood that Big E did not foresee the consequences of stealing knowledge from the Chaos Gods, or more likely refusing to fulfill a promise to bring worship of the gods to every corner of the galaxy. Plenty of times Big E had his own foresight not work perfectly so I'd imagine once he realized that the source of that power is his own future self as a chaos god reflecting backwards through time to speak o his own present self and guide itself into actualization he was far too along the process to turn back or ever consider wanting to. Big E as we know his is effectively his own Daemonhost
A challenging and thought provoking triumph of story telling. So many deep cuts and subtle references, so many questions and unknowns. An incredible video. 40k lore at it's best. Thank you.
The duality of the Emperor is quite fascinating and the prospect of him being reborn as some kind of god is both wonderful and terrifying. Much like 40k as a whole.
if it was all his plan from the start and if he knew what was going to happen then the imperial truth was probably just way and a tool for him to kill all possibly competing religions and deity's so that he alone is worshiped in the entire galaxy after the heresy and so he can max out his powers as a god (because every one in the galaxy worship and only worship him) , so maybe there where no duality's after all.
@@silverfox9107 More like multiplicity, although duality within the context of Emperor vs the 4 chaos gods/Chaos Undivided can be aptly used as he's on the route ascension to become Warp god of order to combat the existing Warp chaos gods Although the multiplicity adds to the facts that there's other powerful Warp entities considered and have powers to be typical definitions of plural gods as well, from Gork & Mork, Eternity Well (which is something even Tzeentch fear to get even close to), the potencies of Eldar Pantheon to be revived via Isha, Ynnead conduit, remaining shattered avatars of Khaine and also the plans of Cegorach to rebirth the Eldar Race via aformentioned bringing Ynnead into reality and heavily messing up chaos gods' hegemony/status quo
The Astronomicon already has an avatar formed in the Warp. Appeared to Abbadon when he was first refound and was creating the Black Legion.. Was rather feeble but was an aspect of the Emperor right there. Appeared as a frail old man. A fragment of the power of the Astronomicon anyway.. They blew him away naturally, much to the chagrin of his occultist brother marine who saw a potential fount of incredible knowledge and future scrying, destroyed rather casually.. I think he would be reborn 💯 If aspects of him already appear it makes sense.. Miracles, the saints, the legion of the Damned..
Your one of the very few UA-cam channels, I get genuinely excited for, everytime I see a new video is dropped. Appreciate your work, and effort, and for brining me into the warhammer universe some 18 months ago.
Your quip near the end about living to see this bit of story concerning the Emperor takes me back a couple of years ago, when Kentaro Miura, creator of the manga Berserk, passed away while the manga seemed to be nearing the home stretch. Thankfully he had left notes behind for assistants to be able to pick up and see that story, which he had started in 1989, to it's conclusion.
Luetin was the first 40Channel I watched, and I find its the only one I can listen to . All the others have more or less insufferable delivery. Not only is he good at 40K, but hes very good at podcasting/lore in general. I'm pretty sure I would enjoy any topic he would cover. Anything from stamp collecting to spatulas.
I love the horrifying aspect that could be: He didn't plan or want any of this, no long con for godhood. And the thing being born in the warp is a Daemon reflection of himself, waiting for him to die so that it can consume his soul.
Personally I like to believe its a benevolent doppelganger of the emperor created by mankind's collective faith, and there's a good spot in the warp somewhere that gives the saints their powers
This is the kind of video which you watch and listen with your finger hovering over the Inquisition speed-dial button and I love it!! Thank you for the awesome work you so Luetin!! We really appreciate all you do!!
I love how you brought up Maiden Worlds as an example of looking at things from other perspectives. It's easy to villify the Eldar for butchering worlds seemingly at random, but from their perspective the Imperium colonized and polluted their most valuable planets. I'd love to see you explore the 40k universe from the perspective of other factions. This setting is fascinating from every possible angle!
Luetin my man. Your content output is truly extraordinary. Hats off to you. Been sharing these with friends new to the setting and they’re eating them up.
Considering all of big E's plans included betraying the people who help him the most (Thunder warriors, the Mechanicum) i'm convinced the Primarchs were the bargaining chips the Emperor offered to chaos for information, they only turned on him when they realized he intended to betray them. I'm guessing that's why he kept the secret of Chaos from the Primarchs because if they knew it could be possible that Chaos would have learned of the Emperors impending betrayal much sooner. I'm betting his plan was to use the golden throne with Magnus as the unwilling sacrifice upon it to bolster the webway enough to cut off the flow of souls to the Warp an starve off the ruinous powers. The golden throne was always meant to sacrifice Pyskers as a source of power so either the Emperor always meant for him or Magnus to sit upon it in a permanent fashion and since he straight up tell Magnus that it was going to be him that kind of narrows it down.
@@benjaminghazi787 Nobody knows what modifications they did in those last minutes but the mechanism that sacrifices Pyskers was always part of the machine.
@@benjaminghazi787 Yep, which blows the theory right out of the water. It also makes no sense. By all accounts, the golden throne is miserable. An absolute nightmare. Why would the emperor place himself upon it when he could simply die and be reborn as a perpetual.
'Necessity overcomes morality. Never without regret. Never without shame. Yet even immoral victory must outweigh moral defeat. The victor will have a chance to atone if conscience demands. The vanquished lose any such opportunity.' -Roboute Guilliman. Anyone can throw shade about morality within 40K around as much as they want, but at the end of the day when it's a fight for literal survival/the right to exist, I guess I am one of "those people" who would knee-jerk say yes to propping the Big E up for the sake of the many.
Conversely, is there a point where we are no longer human, where there's no point in continuing? Tbh I'm thinking of the noble class of the imperium. They're *barely* better than the dark eldar and honestly i think it's just lack of experience.
@Luetin09 I'd be surprised if it wasn't! Has it had anything referenced? Long time lover of the channel Luetin. Thank you for getting me and millions more into 40k. 💛
The enthralling thing about 40k is the different theories. It’s like our own ancient history, lost in translation and subject to bias. Love it, keep it coming
I personally love when the script goes off in different directions, your spot on Col. Kurtz brings up some thought about his and the emperor's relationship with brutality and morality. Great thoughts that paint a bigger picture of the wh40k universe as a whole!
If the Cabal knew that Horus would cause a full-scale intergalactic war against chaos, it stands to reason that the Emperor himself *definitely* knew. If he knew then so too did he know all, or at least the vast majority of outcomes in relation to this. He absolutely wanted to be interred on the throne, nothing else makes sense. Given all we know about his abilities, especially his unrivaled ability to perceive time and the events within it, this *has* to be a calculated maneuver on his part. The only real question, is what does he know that nobody else does?
I’m interested in how you take all these things about the emperor as given. From my reading of master of mankind, it seems his prescience is far from infallible and that Horus turning was a possibility he never considered deeply.
Your quality and professionalism are why I continue to come back to you, Loremaster. There’s one or two other channels I watch cause they’re very in-depth, but they have no where near the quality you do.
Honestly my guy, your work is absolutely outstanding. The way the threads all link together to form a cohesive idea whilst at the same time getting you to think that there is much more at play than what is at the surface level. S tier writing
I woke up in the middle of the night after like 3 months of not being on youtube and the very first thing I needed after some water was a Luetin video. Thank you so much for this one
I can’t believe it’s been over 7 years since I found this channel when the first of the Emperor series got uploaded. Kudos to everything you do I love every video you post even if I know too much about the topic already I listen and enjoy it every time. Keep it up! Thanks for all the great stuff
Been waiting for another longform lore video from Luetin for awhile, very happy you got around to it! Thanks. I think there's no chance we'll get anything clarifying or not contradictory so I prefer Luetin's postulates more than what's actually available from GW
Time to go on a run, becoming enlightened by the lost primarch. I never thought this day would come. Another Big E video ha ha ha ha, thank you so much. You have no idea how much you have helped in life. You gave me something to look forward to when I was a broken, lost, and newly medically retired soldier. Thank you
Just some words of appreciation. I listen to your vids at least once a week. Started off as wanting more lore, then a daily sleep schedule UA-cam vid. Now all the time! Love it man
8:34 when you said “breaks down like this” I got an ad EXACTLY as you said “break down like” and the ad immediately started with “THIS.. is a deck of cards” I was utterly flabbergasted.
It seems the Emperor gave his wayward sons MANY chances to redeem themselves and to prevent him have to "ascend" the golden throne. Seems pretty clear he did not want to be a god but now will be.
He also burned Lorgar's homeworld and let all of Angron's slave friends die. and dont even get me started on Conrad. So Idk about all that. If he didnt want the heresy to happen he sure did a lot to make sure it did.
@@InsomniacDoggo Big E's greatest failing was his failure to understand his son's humanity. He assumed because they were his sons that'd they'd share his perspective and maybe had they been raised by him they would have. But they were not raised by him. They were raised by mortals, normal humans with the perspectives of normal humans and so they valued things normal humans valued. Things like faith, family, and friendships. Things that maybe at one point he too valued but were forgotten over the countless eons he lived.
"The universe has many horrors yet to throw at us. This is not the end of our struggle. This is just the beginning of our crusade to save Humanity. Be faithful! Be strong! Be vigilant!"
It interesting how in older videos on the emperor, the final sentiment was often a variation of "the emperor can't be trusted, and surely if his goals were good, and he was as powerful as claimed, things would have gone differently". Yet now, as we begin to see signs of his influence, and the puzzle pieces start to form a picture, a perspective begins to arise that before was only raised as an "but we can never know". The perspective that, while his goals are still uncertain, and his character is still uncertain, it is fairly clear that his power is not. He, or his essence, is working towards something. And while I strongly doubt Games Workshop will give us a definitive conclusion any time soon, we might just be approaching the beginning of the final battle.
I swear, it really does feel like the Omnissiah speaks to me when I sense a video coming while I’m watching your videos. Absolutely never disappoints, please proceed with your heresy speak.
So here’s an out there thought: what if the Emperor has been acting like a sort of Infinity Circuit for the psykers being sacrificed to him? As I see it he could have looked at a god like Slaanesh, both how it was born and how it feeds, and used his own psychic abilities and technology to essentially back door into apotheosis, mechanically extruding and consolidating human psychic power and forcing it into a god shaped mold, essentially
I don't think it's a far out there thought. I think it is very much plausible. Granted, I'm biased: I came here to suggest in the comments that these psykers are an implicit confirmation of the Shamanic Origin theory and that through those now again separate fragments Emperor engraves himself onto the Warp. Your suggestion completes the picture for me: he creates circuits for himself and for humanity. Well, at least, that's what I'd like to think. A thousand psykers for a thousand shamans. Would be neat, no?
The best, most in-depth, and thoroughly enjoyable 40k lore channel in existence. It is always a pleasure to see a new video has been uploaded. Thank you
To be honest, Chaos Gods nurturing entity that would supersede them makes kind of sense - in that way, they deny victory of all others in the Great Game.
What if he was so vile, so chaotic his very existence dissolved the other chaos gods, leaving him alone to rule there as well, but he still has a soft spot for man, expanding their psychic powers. We no longer explode, and we can do a lot more force-like powers.
That last part where you talked about the emperor taking his chosen of humanity into the web way to build a psychic empire over 10k years, sounds exactly like the yellow king
So this may date me, but I remember reading Ian Watson's Space Marine and the books that would become his Inquisitor's War trilogy when those first came out. I also read the first short stories they had with the Dark Angels being of a Native America theme rather than the European Knights they became. But, for Ian Watson (Jac Draco and his crew are some of my favorite in 40K) I was always struck with how Watson could make the human societies and inner monologues so familiar and yet alien to make the universe believable, a human society with advanced technology but built on fanaticism. Ordo Hydra and the Star Child in the Inquisitor novels fascinated me and the discussion with the Emperor I found to be disturbing (I was much younger at the time and used to Asimov and Heinlein). Thank you for the excellent videos!
Excellent. Some quality future-dystopian speculationment is exactly what I needed to round off my weekend. Impeccable timing with this one, neighbour, thanks!
I had a thought when you mentioned what happens with the throne if Big E gets up and leaves. And I recalled that Vulkan made adjustments to the throne at some point. in theory, that could be the throne being able to "switch over" from Emps powered(who is eating the psykers) to Psyker Powered(Pods directly feeding the now vacant throne) much like a hybrid car going from Electric to Gas and back.
I must congratulate you, Luetin. I entered your channel expecting lore and explanation for this tiny plastic figures and instead recieved a complex philosophical view on the nature of humanity and a desire to study as much socilogy and anthropology as i can find. You are such a great analist
One could wonder if the Emperor's full awakening into Godhood would result in an implosion that would shut the Great Rift; in contrast to Slaanesh creating a tear as they came into being.
I think it’s more likely he would just do the same as slaanesh just have it be under HIS control. So two great rifts, but one is all the emperors domain and the OG is the battleground for the 4 others.
When emp speaks to custodes in master of mankind novel he says 'i don't know what comes next' after the webway got messed. 'The board is set' short story the emp sees da future and makes a new plan. The fury of Magnus story when he is chatting with Olivia, he shows his plan to her, of sitting on the g-throne forevz. He knows his victory against Horus, means an eternity of sufferin, his sacrifice to humanity. Then he says when darkness is at the max, the heroes will return. So he already made his new plan before the heresy ended.
LOVE your videos.. the most terribly difficult thing is holding off on just listening to them in the evening and “trying” to save them for my work day while I drive! Literally the best listening on UA-cam.
I was very surprised that they brought the star child back in the Dawn of Fire series. Took me a second to even remember what they were talking about but I don’t hate it. As for what will happen with big E I recall the conversation between Guilliman and the Cawl inferior. Something along the lines of “what went in won’t be what comes out.”
@@nickcarroll8565 yeah the emperor as he was when he sat on the throne the first time post his Horus beat down is probably only one of millions of personalities, or remnants of them. He may still have the most dominant will, but not all the time, or he may not and that’s why he can’t focus all of that power, he’s not in control of all of it
GODDAMN IT LUETIN.....I was about to settle down to sleep, and it's almost 1am. I have work tomorrow. Now i gotta stay up and watch this cos i won't be able to sleep after seeing the notification.
"Have you ever moved house" I had to set down the box of kitchen goods I was loading into my car to listen to that again. Proof Leutin is a follower of Tzeentch.
Me when I started to watch Luetin: wow these are the perfect videos to help me with my insomnia Me now when Luetin drops a new video: omg I can’t sleep this is so good
Luetin. I want to also direct you to the story in The Outcast Dead. At the end of the story the main character (the astrotelepath) has a conversation with the emperor telepathically before he dies. In that conversation, the emperor states that he can see the future and explains that it is like crossing a river. If i recall he states that he does not know how to get across, but he can see himself on the other side. I think that he can see a future where he is reborn as a god or he destroys chaos, but he doesn't know exactly how he will do it.
I've always wondered if the Emperor is on his way to becoming a new version of A God in the setting. A warp God but anchored in the materium, capable of empowered his followers beyond the need for the warp (see the mircles of the soraritas inspite of that whole black pillar thing) whilst also being an incredible power within it. One could argue this power he grants the soraritas sooner reflects the potential abilities of the c'tan over what chaos can provide, and the emperor himself exists still as a powerful entity both in and out of the warp. In a weird sense, he feels to me as a sort of bridging point between materium and immaterium control.
Few can meander and still bring the pieces back together in such an approachable fashion, thanks for another stellar piece! I love how the Emperor is in many ways a reflection of the greatest and worst aspects of humanity, and therein is the chilling thought: even if the Emperor Returned is far more an embodiment of “positive” human traits, the sheer fact of his possible godhood could still make that ( more than likely cause it’s 40K) an unpleasant outcome for humanity. Loved the tie in with Appcalypse Now
Luetin, seriously my dude. You have the absolute best 40k lore channel on the whole of the internet. I've had several friends ask about 40k lore, I just direct them to this channel. All they need to know in one place. Keep up the good fucking work, love this shit lol.
Ironically i think i've spent more time listening to luetin and reflecting upon his content than i did on my studies in university. Where is my bachelors degree in 40k professor luetin?
Before I watch a video, a few points shall I adress: first of all - FOR THE EMPEROR; second, I'm a casual fan of WH40k universe, so I take the lore stuff not that emotionally like a devoted member or a follower of Adeptus Ministorum; third and main point - I've gotten chills when I heard rumors about The Emperor possible return. That means something.
Honestly one of the best videos yet you've encouraged me to look more into the lore to find the nuances and I love how the hh now has tied into current lore and how your thinking and analysis and diving into how imagined world pulls and reflects always from the real world and just adds to the all round experience of the deep dive we get through our enjoyment from 40k I'm glad I'm here to be apart of it all as it unfolds!
I like the idea that the emp is a golden age creation. It fits all the lore when you think of it, in that it doesn't make any sense, and there is no way to prove it or anything else right or wrong.
After binge watching all 100+ videos of your lore playlist. I am now a subscriber and eagerly await to hear from you any and all developments in the 40k world.
Honestly I think this is the best video on the channel so far. As much as I like the other lore videos, they always seem to skirt around the edges of the most interesting issues. This video goes for the real meat of things, so to speak.
Thank you Luetin! Your content is wonderful and I appreciate have tangential thoughts and rants you go on. You videos are never to long and it is a joy when you release them. Keep it up and go at your own pace. We will wait ❤
I absolutely loved the apocalypse now reference and think it's very applicable to this subject I hope you inspired someone to go watch that movie and the moral grey area it goes into Great video and I adore your tangents don't ever change brother You keep being awesome and I'll keep watching
The Star Child and the Sensei always sounded cool to me. In a galaxy setting like 40k it's like another layer of mystery and intrigue. I see no problem with their inclusion.
I think it was a little bit too much like the Jedi in a setting which is more dark and sci-fi. They came from the "Space Fantasy" Era, where everything was very overt in calling creatures "Space Dwarves" and there was a half-elf Ultramarine captain. They were basically just Jedi and the Star Child was the force
I always hated the use of the term sensei. Too much weeaboo edgelordiness in it, and the Star Child is cribbed right from 2001 and 2010. I wish that storyline would die for good. Besides, we all know who the Emperor really is...he's Connor MacLeod of the clan MacCleod, of course!
I love to theorise that whilst the emperor is being reborn in the warp so are all the souls who died in his name, joining him there. Comparable to slanesh for the elder. I’ve always felt there was something more to the phrase ‘in death does duty end’. The idea that every human who has died in the emperors name gets to fight with him for the final battle in the warp. Potentially billions of souls against chaos. Thank you for another brilliant video, the philosophy that’s drawn upon is just fantastic. Cheers Lutin.
Maybe the warp is just the eternal endpoint of existence itself. So by traveling through the warp, one steps inside the future and returns in a somewhat similar timeframe somewhere else. Slaneesh then wasn‘t born, but corrupted, always there, yet manifesting with a materialistic gesture in one certain point of time. Maybe in this regard every major race in WH will contribute: the Orks giving birth to Nurgle, the Tau to Szeentch and humanity the one chaos deity, that also sits on a throne: Khorne. Maybe Khorne is the fallen Emperor. Some might say: how can this be? The Emperor and Khorne are enemies within the Warp? Maybe the Emperor just fights himself, his fate. And in that regard he is the God of resistance, willpower, resolve and self control. As long as humanity and existence itself prevails, as long as he prevails, that is.
I loved the Starchild theory, and I'm hopeful that they move in that direction. My take on the Emperor's will is that he saw the multiple paths and tried to find an upper hand for each eventuality, hence the chess game with the many moves. I think the path that left him on the throne was the only one left when all his other plans were torn apart, but still better than complete destruction. As with all the other paths there is an upper hand that the emperor has planned for. Perhaps in having to suffer the 10000 years godhood is a side effect he knew about, didn't want, but is better than the alternative.
This is my new favorite lore video. My biggest question is why would the emperor goes back and forth on him knowing what's going to happen. If he sees mankind's ultimate destiny, would he not already know how to achieve this goal? Or even, why not tell the primarchs why he was leaving the crusade to build the webway. Could've solved a huge problem there. This video brings more questions to mind. Awesome video!
@Luetin09 I just wanted to put in my ideas here because I think you might have missed an aspect of the Emperor's motivation. And that is the Emperor is exactly as he said, just a man. What I mean by this is he was very powerful, has foresight, etc.... But like you stated at the end he could be just as hollowed out and broken and the Col. and basically just a man. The idea that he he planned his fall was not the original plan. I think he thought the Golden age of technology was the golden future for humanity and that its "abrupt" end was the "wake up call" to him that humanity needed a stronger guided hand. He knew that left on their own humanity would fade away and just like the cabal wanted would burn out and take chaos with it. He also knew that if he didn't fulfill his action quick enough it would fall into the stagnation it is in now. "You misunderstand, Uriah. I have seen the narrow survival path that is all that stands between Humanity and extinction, and this is the way it must begin." That quote, combine with what we know about the Emperor, leads me to believe that he wanted a unified Imperium brought back to were humanity was during the Golden Age, just under a more vigilant ruler. Imagine if humanity had the Webway and didn't need to rely on the warp? How much better would they have survived Old Night/Age of Strife? Unfortunately the Emperor had two very bad choices, do nothing and humanity dies with chaos, or do something and potentially cause the mess we have now. Maybe he tried taking an back seat and "let humanity decide its course" which lead to the Golden Age, only to see it fail. Now he knows that can't work and tries a different way. He has to make a move. Also to back up the idea everything is just an imperfect plan by a single powerful man.... I think that the fact the real tragedy of the Horus Heresy was not the civil war, but Magus destroying the protection around the human Webway. That is what Chaos ultimately wanted, because it would have taken away a major source of power for them. Anything Horus did was just icing on the cake. So I fully think whatever is happening now in M41 is the Emperors hastily put together plan B. (or maybe even Plan C). He knew he probably wasn't going to succeed with Plan A-- but tried anyway just in case-- and since he seemed to know that the Heresy would happen and his original plan was going to fail he set in motion the whole Golden Throne stuff and if he can't starve chaos out then he would power up and burn them out. I do agree with you that it seems like he might be trying to emerge as an actual god now, but I don't think that was his original plan. He is very much an ends justifies the mean guy like Uriah notices "Olathaire saw both the limitless compassion and the ruthless core of violence of a being who ultimately no longer was even remotely Human". But he still has compassion in the sense he tried the nice ways first, he tried to not have to need thousand of souls sacrificed to him daily, but that is the choice he is left with. He really wants a utopia for all humankind, but he is willing to burn out its mind, body, and soul to get it. He is so focused on providing a future for humanity, he is forgetting to prove from them a present. (To put a little LOTR in here, The Emperor would definitely use the ring out of a desire to do good.)
If the Emperor really is that much of a monstrous mindset, and the veil gets torn back for some few, it goes a very long way to explaining things up to and including Valdor's supposed current workings and whereabouts.
I really admire your ability to disect a topic on such a philosophical level. This is why you deserve the number one spot as 40k loremaster on youtube, you always go so far beyond the surface level. And not only do you pick apart any topic with such skill, you make it understandable for the unwashed peasents such as myself ;P Amazing video man
The fact that the emperor isn't shown as either a 'good' or 'bad' character, along with the fact that we know next to nothing about his past, are some of the things that make him so compelling. You'd think the opposite would be true.
As far as the final battle with Horus goes, remember the unresolved fate of Ollanius and Grammaticus and how they seem to be drawn to this final confrontation as well. This being Abnett's book, I think we have to assume that Enuncia will play a role in the final battle.
Thank you Luetin. Offlate I've been going through a rough time. Without getting into the details my personal, professional and even health has been in a dark place. These videos help me disconnect for that hour or so every other day and it keeps me going.
I kinda always assumed the emperor would come back at some point. I would love to see him stand up and be alive again like some future threat and he comes back when he needed most
I just hope it doesn't escalate too much because they can't do it indefinitely. If the emperor comes back where does the background go from there? Do some equally powerful characters (if that's possible) appear from other factions? Will it become 40K The End Times?
Well, this one went off in a few directions. It seems fairly confirmed at this point that the Emperor is beginning to if not return, then strengthen his presence. The real question though is - if he returns, what form will it take, and more importantly what will it mean for humanity. What is the Emperor's long term agenda, is he a positive or negative force, has he lost all sense and care for human concepts of morality long ago? Tell me your thoughts. ENJOYED? PLEASE DO LIKE THE VID.
I love your videos, man! Watching right now! Thank you for all the hard work!
I'm so excited, you always put out some of the best quality videos. I can't wait to see this masterpiece. :P
as long as he doesn't look like my dad when he returns its all cool
It kind of makes sense that if the warp is unbalanced, a warp God of law & order makes sense.

And Luetin's son is actually right, just like his dad always is
I mean honestly it's not wrong
We can't trust a thing we're told nowadays
@@PJOZeus The Roman Empire collapsed almost 2000 years ago and has nothing to do with "what we're told nowadays."
Byzantium survived for another thousand years....
Here's a bit of fun fan speculation from the early 2000s 40k resurgence, evocative of "The Emperor's Daemons" by the individual known as "Brusilov" from Warseer. (Amusingly, these 20-year old conversations are based upon background from 30-year old materials!)
Anyway, the gist was to view the Emperor as a Trinity:
* The Corpse
* The Child
* The Twin
"The Corpse" is formed of the physical remains of the Emperor that sits upon the Golden Throne.
Oof, yeah that's old
Since Malice is older than the Emperor being in the golden throne and, mind you, higly speculated, to be the 2nd primarch
But it doesn't invalidate the fact that there should be a warp god represented by/being The Emperor
Just like all the biblical references this is the Holy trinity parody
This makes sense hey
Messy, garbled gibberish.
bible parody
I love hearing more theories and thoughts about the Emperor. It's hard to find characters as deep and conflicting as he is. Every time he's on the page he just takes over the scene completely.
thats what I always loved about big e. He is a god emperor and a god emperor would command all attention be it from enemies or allies.
He’s 40k Trump
He gonna make the imperium great again
That ending unironically gave me chills. I have truly become the 40k nerd I used to mock.
Things I want to take away from this guy of whom is likely a highly intelligent high school physics teacher, is to give things a great deal of thought with as much initiative as possible, and to go back on various ideas again and again as you gain more knowledge or develop new ideas.
Thank you.
glad you enjoyed. Im just settling down to watch your 5K Tau v Death Guard :D
You two should totally do a collaboration with a lore podcast/episoded/discussion! Would love to hear you guys speculate over stuff.
After following you both for years, this is as surreal as it is cool to see.
Indeed. I kinda feel like an Imperial guard standing around when Dorn and Sanguinius were getting ready to fight back during the siege of Terra
I don’t think you’re using the word duality correctly there
Yeah, since he was *definitely NOT* a man-god-thing
@@silverfox9107 More like multiplicity, although duality within the context of Emperor vs the 4 chaos gods/Chaos Undivided can be aptly used as he's on the route ascension to become Warp god of order to combat the existing Warp chaos gods
Although the multiplicity adds to the facts that there's other powerful Warp entities considered and have powers to be typical definitions of plural gods as well, from Gork & Mork, Eternity Well (which is something even Tzeentch fear to get even close to), the potencies of Eldar Pantheon to be revived via Isha, Ynnead conduit, remaining shattered avatars of Khaine and also the plans of Cegorach to rebirth the Eldar Race via aformentioned bringing Ynnead into reality and heavily messing up chaos gods' hegemony/status quo

I love the horrifying aspect that could be: He didn't plan or want any of this, no long con for godhood. And the thing being born in the warp is a Daemon reflection of himself, waiting for him to die so that it can consume his soul.
No no no thts too rough
The human empire is pretty hellish. The Emperor isn't far from Daemonic already.
Too many chaos gods exist, there is none for humans. There should be an Emperor revival who can stand against chaos gods. Sounds pretty fair to me.
If that's the case, he got everything he deserved
Personally I like to believe its a benevolent doppelganger of the emperor created by mankind's collective faith, and there's a good spot in the warp somewhere that gives the saints their powers

Didn’t they have to modify it for that after Horus wounded him??
@@benjaminghazi787 Nobody knows what modifications they did in those last minutes but the mechanism that sacrifices Pyskers was always part of the machine.
this is actually a nice thought. thanks for sharing!
@@benjaminghazi787 Yep, which blows the theory right out of the water.

Anyone can throw shade about morality within 40K around as much as they want, but at the end of the day when it's a fight for literal survival/the right to exist, I guess I am one of "those people" who would knee-jerk say yes to propping the Big E up for the sake of the many.
Quite profound, and something to consider.
Conversely, is there a point where we are no longer human, where there's no point in continuing? Tbh I'm thinking of the noble class of the imperium. They're *barely* better than the dark eldar and honestly i think it's just lack of experience.

I'm losing what little mind I have left. Could have sworn I saw the sequel to this earlier today.
Thank you
I think he just needs to edit his scripts a bit more. Spending 20 minutes equivocating about "it could be X or y or maybe even z" really gets old.
It would be really grimdark to see emperor become a horrible warp entity like the chaos gods. It fits the setting just right
To be honest, Chaos Gods nurturing entity that would supersede them makes kind of sense - in that way, they deny victory of all others in the Great Game.
Yo Luetin your breakdown of Kurtz is so well-explained. I've never heard it summed up so well.
You are such a great analist
more than any other 40k media, this channel hammers me deeper into being a fan, great work as always.

I think that he can see a future where he is reborn as a god or he destroys chaos, but he doesn't know exactly how he will do it.
he references this conversation in a previous video.
Luetin, you thought you could trick us with that still from the Endwalker trailer at 45:20. I'm on to your shenanigans.
Shhhhh
After binge watching all 100+ videos of your lore playlist. I am now a subscriber and eagerly await to hear from you any and all developments in the 40k world.
Honestly I think this is the best video on the channel so far. As much as I like the other lore videos, they always seem to skirt around the edges of the most interesting issues. This video goes for the real meat of things, so to speak.
Thank you Luetin! Your content is wonderful and I appreciate have tangential thoughts and rants you go on. You videos are never to long and it is a joy when you release them. Keep it up and go at your own pace. We will wait ❤
The Thin Red Line is such an amazing movie. One of my favorites.
55:05 Off the rails can be a great thing. I like it when you go off the rails. Full speed ahead into meta topics galore! 😃📚🔍
I have to stress, the soundtrack you put on this is absolutely amazing. I would buy that album.
I absolutely loved the apocalypse now reference and think it's very applicable to this subject
I hope you inspired someone to go watch that movie and the moral grey area it goes into
Great video and I adore your tangents don't ever change brother
You keep being awesome and I'll keep watching
The Star Child and the Sensei always sounded cool to me. In a galaxy setting like 40k it's like another layer of mystery and intrigue. I see no problem with their inclusion.
I think it was a little bit too much like the Jedi in a setting which is more dark and sci-fi. They came from the "Space Fantasy" Era, where everything was very overt in calling creatures "Space Dwarves" and there was a half-elf Ultramarine captain. They were basically just Jedi and the Star Child was the force
GW can reintroduce them refreshingly as they did with old lore. The Sensei and The Star Child have potential.
@@scionofdorn9101 Sensei just means teacher in Japanese. Also what's wrong with the star child?
Oooo, now that’s absolutely insanely BRILLIANT!
Love that rouge trader image on emps on life support. Even then you could see the endless line of ‘souls’ given up
And the rogue trader one.
Rogue lol
@@Slann88 I guess this is as bad as the Holocaust eh
I have seen the narrow survival path that is all that stands between Humanity and extinction, and this is the way it must begin."
That quote, combine with what we know about the Emperor, leads me to believe that he wanted a unified Imperium brought back to were humanity was during the Golden Age, just under a more vigilant ruler.
When you said that EoM will use The One Ring, I can only reply with the only answer I have: EoM is EVIL!
If the Emperor really is that much of a monstrous mindset, and the veil gets torn back for some few, it goes a very long way to explaining things up to and including Valdor's supposed current workings and whereabouts.
What do you mean Valdors current working?? Where is this at? Any book to reference?
I really admire your ability to disect a topic on such a philosophical level. This is why you deserve the number one spot as 40k loremaster on youtube, you always go so far beyond the surface level. And not only do you pick apart any topic with such skill, you make it understandable for the unwashed peasents such as myself ;P Amazing video man
The fact that the emperor isn't shown as either a 'good' or 'bad' character, along with the fact that we know next to nothing about his past, are some of the things that make him so compelling. You'd think the opposite would be true.
This is a place where much good exist only less bad
As far as the final battle with Horus goes, remember the unresolved fate of Ollanius and Grammaticus and how they seem to be drawn to this final confrontation as well. This being Abnett's book, I think we have to assume that Enuncia will play a role in the final battle.
Thank you Luetin.
Offlate I've been going through a rough time. Without getting into the details my personal, professional and even health has been in a dark place. These videos help me disconnect for that hour or so every other day and it keeps me going.
33:55 - " khorne berserker what a honourable fellow". That made me laugh
I kinda always assumed the emperor would come back at some point. I would love to see him stand up and be alive again like some future threat and he comes back when he needed most
Tyranid invasion on Terra.
@@wateo1782 that could be possible with the way they are going with the Nids
I just hope it doesn't escalate too much because they can't do it indefinitely. If the emperor comes back where does the background go from there? Do some equally powerful characters (if that's possible) appear from other factions? Will it become 40K The End Times?
