We would buy a cheap LR in the UK every year, with a new or long MOT, drive over to HR and then sell it on once the MOT ran out rather than drive all the way back. Croats love their off roaders especially discos and landy's. Whats cheap in the UK is expensive in Croatia

I can't get over the price differenced between Germany and the US. Here that would be for sale for $2.500 and no one would buy it. Of course, it would have the 5 liter gas V8 with broken timing chains, but that's all we were offered here. Merry Christmas Christian and Vera!
The 5L gas engine is the better engine than the TDV6, besides the timing chain job, high pressure fuel pump, and cooling system issues they are pretty solid engines also most of the problems are due to land rovers stupid maintenance schedule not the engine itself(besides the poorly designed first get timing chain guides)! Fuel economy be damned. There's no market for broken Land Rovers in the US, not enough people work on them, parts availability is worse than Europe and if you need a mechanic to fix it you are in trouble not a lot of competent Land Rover mechanics even at the dealers. Stateside a higher spec 10 year old land rover LR4 with 100k miles is worth 12k in running and driving condition so dead ones correspondingly are worth FAR less as who knows what kinds of issues lurk and engine blocks are hard to come by and quite expensive.

Hi, Christian and Vera. I love your videos and look forward to the rebuilding of this Disco. Merry Christmas to both of you and your family. From a L322 M62 4.4 UK owner.
Kaikoura is in the north east of the south Island of New Zealand. Kaikoura is famous for whale watching. About 10 years ago, there was a big earthquake that lifted the whole area up about 2-3m. If you look east from Kaikoura you look over the southern Pacific Ocean and the next place South America.
well i really do not blame you one bit for buying that car if i had been younger, i would have done the same nice colour as well I am sure that by the time Cristian has finished, it will be a great car and thank you for the video.
FANTASTIC!!! Very exciting to be doing another Discovery engine, can not wait to see more, who wants to go to Spain when you have pretty boy there to work on?
Hello Christian. I have over 300 000 km experience towing cars on trailers. Admittedly, I flipped a trailer once (with a Hilux 4X4 on it). Nonetheless, some advice on how to make it a whole lot less frightening. Before you start loading the trailer, go and stand with your leg right against the neck of the trailer (or, if it's too dirty, against the back bumper of your tow veh*# Rover. Make a metal note of how high on your leg the trailer is. The load should cause the rear of your tow veh*# Rover to drop by about 100 to 150 mm. NEVER tow with a dropper plate arrangement (the kind that people fit to get the towball lower to the ground) this will take even the smallest left/right sway at the hitch and turn it into a major oscillation about the centre longitudinal axis. This is not fun. Also that trailer that you were using is highly unsuitable for towing big, tall cars. Also, you may be making a common error with your ratchet straps. When you feed the tip of the strap throught the ratchet, do NOT pull heavily in the opposite direction - just tug lightly as you start ratcheting. In fact, you should actually use chains towards the rear of the trailer, and straps towards the front.
Excellent video, thanks for all the content throughout the year, brilliant technical explanations and the best humour between you both. Merry Christmas 🎄
I often play you video's while cooking dinner. Constantly laughing along with your humorous dialog. My kids (in their 20s) hear Vera and thinks you guys are awesome. Marry Christmas 🎄 🎉❤
Looking forward to a new build series! I noticed that there are no safety chains on the trailer. These are chains that connect the trailer to the tow vehicle in case the tow point fails. With all the regulations in Germany I thought this was quite strange. Maybe Australia is the only country that mandates these? You definitely had insuficient weight on the tow ball. The best way to stop sway is with electric brakes which you did not have. With electric brakes you brake the trailer without braking the car to slow down the trailer uding the override button. Sway starts when the trailer wants to go faster than the tow vehicle. Thanks for the video and Merry Christmas.
I cannot speak for Europe but certainly in the UK a breakaway cable is needed. This is a light wire cable which would put the trailer brakes on if it comes off the towing vehicle.
@@jbbumpkin Yes in Australia I think over 2 tonne we must have a breakaway cable that applies the brakes but in addition on any trailer of any weight the trailed must also be attached using two chains.
16:20. Yes, very good point. However, we recently sold a Jaguar iPace (yes, before the 'new' Jaguar launch) and in addition to a full dealership service history we had one additional local garage service (changed air filter and checked fluids) before a MOT/TUF. The new buyer (a dealership) wanted to mark-down their offer price by 1,000 GBP because of this. I refused to sell it to him and found another buyer.
I haven't finished watching the vid yet, but 3 minutes in I saw you push the load back a bit and I just knew. I did the exact same thing thirty years ago and crashed. Not enough nose weight. I wrote off two cars (mine and someone coming the other way). Fortunately no one got hurt.
100% agree with the air suspension police !! Nice coverage talking about loading and towing. D3s are the best. Looks to be a very nice d4. Great LRtime video
The practical limit for my LR4 is about 270kg without overloading the rear axle. That adds 390kg to the axle. I can't even carry my fridge in the back when towing my van with 2 people and minimal other luggage in the car. I really don't know how LR came up with the 350kg figure.
Disco 4 has trailer stability control... But only when it detects your trailer with resistance on your trailer lights and doesn't work with LED lights. If you have LED trailer lights, you need to add some ballast resistors to simulate bulbs.
Wow , leaving the oil change to 30k kms. No wonder it blew. I change my sdv8 every 6 or 7k kms. It cheaper than replacing engines or turbo,s. I so enjoy watching this couples stuff. Every couple needs this level of partnership......... keep it up guys.... Wunderbar.
Having towed many trailers with loads of all kinds of loads, I have a couple of observations. Yes it’s way too far back. An other observation for trailers carrying vehicles, the ones with wider axles & a lower centre of gravity are a much smoother ride & will have less tendency to snake. Land Rovers with air suspension will self level so you can slightly over load the tow ball without the back of the towing vehicle dipping. Most importantly though. It’s great to see another LR Time project arriving on your driveway. 👍👍
You guy's are awesome. I had to "Work" over the festive period so I have binged watched probably 90% of your video's. I think I could now pass a LR engine rebuild exam no problem..
Good evening Vera and Christian 😊 That was awesome and loved how you checked your load. I’m a lorry driver and see so many trailers wagging like a dogs tail 🤪 Always good seeing Robin helping out 👍🏻 `Frohe Weihnachten to you both and hope you have a lovely day cheers Stevie 😎🏴
Hi Christian and Vera, The new LR looks nice! I would like to share something with you and your audience. I use a spray bottle to spray the winter windshield washer fluid on the windshield and the windows to get rid of the frost, this method doesn’t work on ice. The reason is that the plastic scrapers pick up the tiny sand and grit and scratch the surface as they slide back and forth. I have been doing this for a decade, it’s easy, quick, and it most importantly doesn’t scratch the windshield of my “Toyota” and my Honda Civic before that. The windshields on an LR must be astronomically expensive.
THIS IS SIMPLY THE BEST UA-cam CHANEL EVER ! please never ever stop what you are doing ...Thank You

The practical limit for my LR4 is about 270kg without overloading the rear axle. That adds 390kg to the axle. I can't even carry my fridge in the back when towing my van with 2 people and minimal other luggage in the car. I really don't know how LR came up with the 350kg figure.
Yeah UK and Europe is 150kg... Which means you can't properly balance a 3.5t load. Ridiculous rules. Buy a strong hitch and forget the law!

Congratulations on your new Brownie! And Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year, from Copenhagen.
Merry Christmas 🤗🙏🎅🎄🙋♀️
Disco 4 has trailer stability control... But only when it detects your trailer with resistance on your trailer lights and doesn't work with LED lights. If you have LED trailer lights, you need to add some ballast resistors to simulate bulbs.
But not when it's the car on the trailer, it doesn't!! Their tow car is their D3. Don't know if that has trailer stability control or not?
Our RR has trailer stability. Never tried it. Our LR4 does not have it. Our LR3 certainly not.
This is so exciting, your team work is admirable
Happy Christmas 🎉

Wow , leaving the oil change to 30k kms. No wonder it blew. I change my sdv8 every 6 or 7k kms. It cheaper than replacing engines or turbo,s. I so enjoy watching this couples stuff. Every couple needs this level of partnership......... keep it up guys.... Wunderbar.
Thank you for another fantastic video, cannot wait for the Engine rebuild. Regards from Australia.
As always a very nice video with all the good humour in it….. 😃👍🏻
Happy Christmas and New Year for you also….. 🎄🎅
Merry Christmas 🤗🙏🎅🎄🙋♀️

Having towed many trailers with loads of all kinds of loads, I have a couple of observations. Yes it’s way too far back.
An other observation for trailers carrying vehicles, the ones with wider axles & a lower centre of gravity are a much smoother ride & will have less tendency to snake.
Land Rovers with air suspension will self level so you can slightly over load the tow ball without the back of the towing vehicle dipping.
Most importantly though. It’s great to see another LR Time project arriving on your driveway. 👍👍
Thanks.
You're such a good team. Best of luck with the new project
More weight on the handlebars 😅
Always here for the amazing builds. Looking forward to the build.
I guess that's one way of making sure that you have the correct spare part when your car breaks down, just carry a spare car. 🎅🎄🥂
You guy's are awesome. I had to "Work" over the festive period so I have binged watched probably 90% of your video's. I think I could now pass a LR engine rebuild exam no problem..
😅👌Happy New Year🙋♀️
I don’t blame Vera, I don’t want a Jaguar anymore either.
😃🙏🙋♀️

Great diagnosis skills, good job.

Hi Christian and Vera,
The new LR looks nice!
Thanks for a great year of LR Time!
