He said in an interview some years ago that would not be allowed in Jeff Lynn's ELO if he wasn't Jeff Lynne. The other guys are just so insanely good and his strengths are arrangements and writing, not playing. I am paraphrasing wildly btw but the sentiment is roughly correct.
I think since Hyde park in 2014 they’re finally getting the recognition they deserve. They are definitely on par with the Beatles. Absolutely brilliant

It's hard to imagine now, but "Mr Blue Sky" was just another minor song in ELO's deep catalog and got almost no radio play in the US for 25 years. That all changed in 2002, when a Volkswagen commercial finally brought it into the mainstream consciousness. Masterpiece.
Really? I've been listening to that song for decades. Although thinking back, I don't guess I ever heard it on the radio, but on the Greatest Hits album which I probably listened to 500 times.
Just looked it up and it didn't break top 20 anywhere besides the UK where it peaked at nr 6. This is the case for a lot of classic songs though. Bowie was beaten over and over again by The Osmonds for example. :)
Look at the concentration and care even on the very last vocal bit and then look at the pleasure from them all because they know they absolutely nailed it
Just saw ELO at a sold out concert a few weeks ago in Nashville. It was outstanding. Honestly, I get misty-eyed when I hear this song for some reason. Just love Jeff Lynne and ELO.

I’m starting a campaign to have Jef knighted , thumbs up if u agree👍
Absolutely!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Mostly the undeserving get knighted................
Thumbs up
Do you mean Jeff?
Who's Jef?
that's probably the best fire extinguisher playing I have heard in a long long time
Yes, and Fire Extinquiser is credited on the Out of the Blue album original credits as a special effect. :-)
Virtuoso performance by Iain Hornal on the fire extinguisher!
And where exactly does one take fire extinguisher lessons? I’ve always wanted to be a rock star lol 😂

Haha! That was good.
water or foam?
When you have found the best players around for your band and then need a singer then you need Iain Hornal.
One of the most unbreakable voices in the history of singing.
1000% Jeff Lynne!!!
NEVER KNOWN ANYONE IN THE MUSIC BUSINESS WHO MAKES IT LOOK SO EASY WHEN IT IS'NT.
What's an 'unbreakable' voice?
@@321bytor Still going very strong even after so many years.
Many singers lose something but Lynne still sounds the same as he did many years ago.

Jeff Lynne underrated by too many people.
Bob Williams Who underrates him??
Dan C John Smith Brian black. What a stupid comment

Lynne Glass I have the full concert on my iPad, absolutely brilliant.
Bob Williams must be good when you want to cheer yourself up
Absolutely fucking brilliant, every second of it.
No doubt. Just fucking sick.
Dead right
dont write em like that anymore sadly :/ so tight as well ,very hard to keep a multi instrumental band in tight time like that live
Fr
0:35 literally Mr. Blue Sky there :D
Jeff Lynne's voice is pristine. Amazing at his age and all the band members are elite! Long live Jeff Lynne's ELO!
you had to hide away for so longgggg
Great to see Richard Tandy there too.
I just realized this is the best song ever written it is literally pure happiness
🥰
True. When I'm happy in my village house I listen this.
I listen to this whenever I'm getting nervous or upset
Well, it is. It's exactly that.

This sounds phenomenal for a live performance, could be a studio record!
I totally agree. It sounds incredibly good, even all these years later
They always sound better live than on the records...Fantastic Musicians.
Strangely, most of the current "stars" sound amazingly different when they try their version of live
Talent will always shine through
The younger so called singers of today could learn from thees legends of music ❤👍💥

Mr Blue Sky raged in the 70’s on KFMB in San Diego!! It was a standard at all the frat parties.
George Harrison stated that Jeff was the most creative, innovative musician he ever worked with. Watching ELO perform, who can doubt that ?
Something oddly British about a massive crowd of people at Glastonbury singing Mr Blue Sky when it looks like it’s about to piss it down
Exactly the song to sing lol
it sure did persistently rain but did not stop the girl in the blue wig rocking it! yes that's me it was an amazing gig!
I think people going to a music festival in the UK would be disappointed if it didn't rain.
Yeah typical British summer weather 😅

Richard Tandy on keyboard is brilliant - he really waits to time that final phrase “Please turn me over” to perfection
A beautiful anachronism
This really is music at it's best. ELOs combination of rock n roll with opera and classical will always live in my head rent free.
The finest live performance of any pop or rock song I have ever heard - glorious

When a live performance sounds as good as the record...Awesome!

Great to see all the youngsters going wild for ELO. Can’t keep musical masterpieces locked away, people need to hear this stuff.
