My dad's 70. I'm 36. He used to love ELO from the 70s to 90s and beyond and I always remember him playing it in the car when we were going places. I used to like it but was too 'cool' that I didn't want to admit it. Listening to this now does bring tears to my eyes as I remember special times with him and now that I'm older I listen to the words and start to wonder what I'm going to do one day when he doesn't answer the phone any more. He's always been a simple man but a good man with a lot of life experience that I ask for today.
I'm listening in 2024 to 📞 Line. 69 years old from Michigan. Jeff is amazing at his age. He keeps on making incredible music. Can make us smile. Can make us cry. Love ELO
Hello Kevin, i am 59 years old from Germany near Munich and you are so right. I believe i was 12 or 13 years old when i heard for the first time ` Telephone Line `. This magical and wonderful music accompanied me throughout life until today. I believe Jeff is a really great person too - he has definitely George Harrison, Tom, Roy and Bob their best time of life bestowed. I never saw their faces so happy like in time with `The Traveling Wilburys `- he is beyond great. Kevin i wish you a good time. Kind regards, Roland
Born in 1962 and loved ELO in the 70`s. Just discovered this fantastic concert they performed at Wembley; so wish I could have been there! Such music back then. Cheers to all you wonderful music fans out there whose heart fills up when listening to genuinely great music xxx
One of the great underrated bands of all time. Lynne looks like he teleported from somewhere in 1977 and just appeared backstage, 15 minutes before the show...
Why underrated? No offense to you but no, they were never underrated. There is this UA-cam thing where the word underrated is very overused in the comments. See, I just used the word 3 times. Haha.

76, I grew up in the 60's, 70's, 80's, I'm still growing up. I don't ever want to stop. Music is an integral part of my life. Each and every day, I start it with music. Of how lucky can you get. It doesn't stop, every decade gives you great sounds, and I appreciate the singers and groups who put their stuff out there for the world to share. JUST LOVE IT ALL. ❤❤❤❤
@rowley1950 1948, Us oldies have the luckiest time with music. Technology has given us a chance to nearly always relive our favourite moments. I'm amazed at how deeply the songs of our youth are entrenched in our brains. You can hear a wonderful song you haven't heard for 60 years and the words just spring to mind, along with the memories if what you were doing at the time. I just love it ❤❤❤
I've just realized this is not a song. It is just pure, raw emotion. Absolutely beautiful. Just look at the couples in the audience. Tells you everything.
I finally saw ELO play at the TD Garden in Boston 9/23/2024. For 90 minutes, I was swept away into a place of light and sound, mesmerized and taken away from all the cares of the world. I was 14 when this song was released and here I am 50 years later 64 and finally able to see them live one last time. I was brought to tears with some of their songs including this one. It was such a rare opportunity to see this talented group of musicians play one more time. Music like this is just a gift from a bygone era. Thank you Jeff Lynn for all your hard work and dedication to producing, recording, touring and bringing this beautiful music to Boston and the world.
I didnt realise ELO were big in the US. As a Brummie (people from Birmingham, England) we are very proud of Jeff. Looking forward to his last appearance in Birmingham in July 2025.

Who’s here with me remembering one of the greatest song writers and singers ever? It’s October 18 ,2024 ( my oldest son’s 31 st birthday . Toms music is ageless . His passing devastated me since from as long as I can remember back one of his songs mirrored what was going on in my life at that time .Rest in Peace .😇😢🫶🤟🏽🙏
I'm 25 years old. I didn't exist when this song was made but my father made me listen this masterpiece one month ago and I feel each part of its beauty.
I guess I must be as old as your dad... but my dad loved them too and bought their records (vinyl) that we played often... along with many other great bands at the time. My oldest is 25 and there is no way she'd appreciate this. So, good for you to recognise great music.
My son is an ELECTRICAL ENGINEERING SENIOR at a very major University. He is a musician, dj, and composer. When he was a young boy, he had no choice but to listen to DADDY'S stuff. EVIL WOMAN was his favorite. ELO was so so so very under rated, Jeff Lynne is fantastic.
At 64 year old I never realized nor appreciated the impact bands such as ELO, Led Zeppelin, Grand Funk Railroad, Queen and the list could go on and on, had on me and so many other people. You don't recognize nor understand at the time but now in the twilight years I am certainly blessed to have been a part of it.. Thank you!!
What a joy it was as a kid in the 80's to discover my mom and dad's vinyl collection. The Beatles have been my favorite band since the moment I put Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band on the record player (dad's favorite bands are Jethro Tull, Zeppelin, Queen, and Uriah Heap and mom loves Heart, Queen, Fleetwood Mac, and David Bowie). I somehow missed ELO.......just discovered them recently. What a treat it is to find a new band that has great song after great song after great song!
It's not the original members. Jeff Lynne is a very talented, fantastic and enthusiastic perfectionist when it comes to music and it sounds like he has the ability to bring out the best out of everyone he works with
I am in Total Agreement!! I grew up around Music, all Genres. I made sure my Daughters did as well! I was the Mom playing name that tune and Artist/Group while driving! Have you caught the Roy Orbinson "Black and White" Concert?? Bruce Springsteen, Tom Waits, T-Bone Burnette, Elvis Costillo, just to name a Few!! Highly Recommend it!!
I was just thinking about Jeff Lynnne and the other "Traveling Wilberrys" He is now the Only One left.. Its hard not to think about them. Roy Orbison, George Harrison and Tom Petty..Wow. RIP Guys..
Today on the 30th of December 2022 Jeff Lynne celebrates his 75th birthday. This also means that he was almost 70 when this concert took place. Very few people of that age can still sing as well as he does here. Most impressive.
Folks , how many of you have lived that same scenario. It makes us folks with a little age on us drop a tear or two I'm 61 years old All my life I wished that I was a singer-songwriter entertainer. I would love to have been someone to sing to the world and bring them joy and love..... Write and sing songs that they know by heart and listen to them sing my songs back to me while I'm on stage playing In my opinion ,There's nothing greater then making someone smile and laugh and every once in awhile drop and emotional tear of happiness and remembrance Much love to the world
Whenever you really listen to all of the instruments, the keyboard, the guitars, the cellos, the violins, the drums and the singers every single musician is perfectly in tune and they blend so well to make that unmistakable sound of ELO.....
I come from a talented musical family. I cant sing..play..or anything. My Daddy was famous in the 50's plus my 2 older brothers share same talent! My first older brother taught himself playing Piano! Turned me on to Beatles..Doors..Yardbirds. Zepplin..just so great
I listen to this song daily on Sirius XM radio !!! Either on 70's music or 311 Yacht Rock !! 1970's - 1979 favorite , but I will listen to 1960's - 2024 music
@@sethsmietana7733 Well said! I have seen Legendary Bands in my life but no Bands has come close to Jeff Lynne's ELO for impeccable live performances. Please Jeff Lynne's ELO Tour in 2021!!! ua-cam.com/video/sbg8aUn4YkA/v-deo.html
We live in America. I have watched this entire concert on youtube. I told my wife I would spend a ridiculous amount of money to have flown out just to see this concert in person.
From 1976 to this day ELO (Jeff Lynne) has been the best live band i have ever seen and i have seen lots and lots of concerts from legendary bands. I saw ELO in 1976, 1978, 1981, 2016, 2017, 2018 and 2019. I feel very fortunate.
Im here! Oct.14 2024. Year of the Comet! Love ELO. Im a die hard 80's music and time. Born in the 60's . I grew up with the best of music. Great lyrics that inspired.
At 63 I’m still listening to this beautiful song memories of my wife of 43 years our youth where we were always so happy and still are thank you Jesus for our life together …..and letting us grow up in a time where songs made sense
I believe this generation of music gives us all the since of the greatest days that America had to offer. And I wish I could give my life experiences I had and the pleasure to be a part of in the late 60's, 70's and 80' to my daughter!!!!!
Jeff Lynne is the best overall musician and producer ever! Jeff Lynne's ELO will tour one last time this Summer and Fall of 2024 in North America and Canada.
This song has always given me chills even before I knew what love was. Just felt like I knew what was coming in the future . I love the writing and tones. It is 2024 I'm 58 and still loving this.
Yes! That’s exactly what I felt hearing this when I was 14, like a taste of future moments that I didn’t even have the experience to conceive of yet. It’s a strange thing to now be on the other side of that future, looking back and mapping every ELO song into its rightful place.
I’m regularly watching in August, 2024 from Newark, Delaware. Jeff Lynne’s ELO is still fabulous. I’m glad I have company. Enjoy everyone and be safe!!
I just turned 70 on Friday and most of the music I listen to is from the 80's and 90's. Music today just doesn't compare. They had bands back then. There are no bands today, only sound mixers.
@CatherineHatton AMEN.....Catherine. I totally agree with you. The noise they call rap just gives me a headache, and I immediately go to my ELO favorites. (Which of course is all of it!!) I'm 66, and my #1 song is "Mr. Blue Sky." From California USA
It’s October 20, 2024. Memories of my (what I know now) was my soul mate from 32 years ago. We spoke on the telephone all this weekend, as we often do, every year. But we live miles apart. Thank you for the best memories with your music 🤍🤍
I lost my husband of 29 years last December. I listen and wish I could call and talk to him. We listened to this on CD for years. I miss and love you Craig!
I just saw the Farewell "Over and Out Tour" tonight in Chicago. Jeff Lynne can still rock at 76 and the band he has assembled was flawless. They played a nearly two-hour set. His vocals are still strong and touching, especially this song. I'd never seen him live - so happy I had this opportunity to witness a legend still great at his craft and loved by 20,000 fans in the sold out United Center.
@bradleyjohnson9981 Wow, how lucky you were to see them in their final farewell concert. I saw them in 2017 in Los Angeles, and I will cherish it forever. Now I'm 66 and still loving everyone of their songs.
It doesn't surprise me that while this was posted 5 years ago, there are still comments added only days ago. This production is pure magic and so well done I wish I could have been there for it.
I am too. He's great and band and musician's great too. He's got a unique sound. And awesome songs. Great video. And fun watching the people get into the songs. I read today that they have a final tour coming up.
It gives me goosebumps when I see how the magic of the moment instantly gets to people’s hearts. Couples dancing cheek-to-cheek, others singing with so much passion. What a masterpiece!
I've loved many artists in my 65 years of life. But Jeff Lynne is the only one who never disappointed me. I bought everything he did since 1974 and will always be there for his music because it's always been there for me.
@Jeff Lynne oh sure I’d love to text in private with a world wide rock icon, but I didn’t fall off a turnip truck yesterday, so whatever scam this is no thanks mr blue sky
This was the song that had my heart when I went away to college from the women who was my everything - good news we survived it and just hit 40 year anniversary!
Congratulations! Mine opposite. Girl I loved never loved me, so flunked out of college & never married. Not blaming her. Much stronger people survive, thrive & grow.
This song had me thinking about my wife also. We met 36 years ago, she had a 1 year old daughter, and was just divorced. We have been together ever since. It's funny how certain songs can stir up such strong memories, and emotions.
This is the most wonderful but underrated love song ever to be sung. And my most enduring love affair has most definitely been with ELO and the talented Jeff Lynne.
Jeff Lynn's music fills stadiums, NOT little theatres. Obvious, why this Legend gets, the capacity crowds, and anyone with a soul, is often moved to tears, listening to him, and his superb band.
I saw them live in Chicago 2 or 3 years ago. Incredible performance by the entire band! This song actually brought me to tears. I had to try and hide it from my friends so I didn't look like a little bitch! Amazing!!!
I'm 59 now, man as a teenager I remember driving home from the beach during the Summer with the windows down and ELO cranked up on the cassette. Man I miss those days so much!!!!!!!!!!!
You’re right but try also listening to Judith Durham (The Seekers). Her voice is just as good as it was in 1967, when my whole college lusted after her!
My wife and I were there at Wembley - third row and singing along to every song with the rest of the fans in the stadium. It wasn't just a concert, it was an experience. Thank you, Jeff!
"It wasn't just a concert, it was an experience". I felt exactly the same way about the concert I went to at Genting Arena in Birmingham in April 2016, soon after the band had kicked off their UK tour. How lucky we are to have them.
I’m still watching ELO. I heard this song back when I was about 5 . It takes me back . My now deceased husband ( He Passed in 2017) liked ELO too . Good memories . Y'all will be missed .
TRUTH is in The Word. Joe found out Before most of us and He started down his road Before We did, too. "One Day @ A Time", Juli. One Day At A Time. For a Life Time.
If one day we can get together again to enjoy a concert like this, everyone happy, singing along, enjoying the talent, the moment...I would choose an ELO's concert, and I would like to see you all there. In the meantime, I'm sending you all my best wishes of health, joy, abundance and freedom to enjoy it!

It’s Christmas night 2022. A sublime way to end a lovely day. ELO have been a constant in my life. An island of beautiful music I always return to. Happy 2023 everyone and let there be peace. ❤️❤️❤️
I bought A NEW WORLD RECORD when it was just released -76 and Telephone Line was and still is my favorite song from it. But this live performance is pure magic! 41 years later tells how timeless is Jeff Lynne`s music. So happy to see this masterpiece! Brings back a lot of good memories!
You are so right. Not only is the music flawless the but whole experience is brought together in this video with the gorgeous venue, city views, spaceship set, lighting and the audience participation and reactions.
“Jeff Lynne” had his own style, his own unique voice, and ability to capture the masses of people attention. Can’t really describe it any other way.

I guess I must be as old as your dad... but my dad loved them too and bought their records (vinyl) that we played often... along with many other great bands at the time. My oldest is 25 and there is no way she'd appreciate this. So, good for you to recognise great music.
Same as that brother father showed me proper music
I know...I heard this when I was 5. I loved it on my own.
Me too brother Me too ✌🏽❤
At 64 year old I never realized nor appreciated the impact bands such as ELO, Led Zeppelin, Grand Funk Railroad, Queen and the list could go on and on, had on me and so many other people.
You don't recognize nor understand at the time but now in the twilight years I am certainly blessed to have been a part of it.. Thank you!!
b glad u lived though it / but regret being old
Absolutely agree with you ❤
Growing old is an accomplishment to revel in and be grateful for.
Sounds like ya definitely know all great music they'd produced in those days and bet ya could tell on yourself
It amazes me how good this band is many years later. Jeff Lynne doesn't seem to age.
Because he hides his face behind shaggy hair, a beard and sunnys.
I think he was cloned...
ELO music will never die.
His music lifts us up from the darkness that surrounds us...he shares a very special gift with us all. We are very lucky.
It's not the original members. Jeff Lynne is a very talented, fantastic and enthusiastic perfectionist when it comes to music and it sounds like he has the ability to bring out the best out of everyone he works with
Happy 2025 to all my ‘far out ‘‘70’s brothers and sisters 🎉❤
І 65🎉
Yes we are still far out, may not look like it anymore, but what the hell! Hope your 2025 brings you happy times as the 70's brought me.
Been listening to ELO for over 40 years. Still one of the best bands ever.
You are spot on ....Timeless rock classical fusion.....they were way ahead of their time and I was 14 when I first heard them brilliant band
I was just thinking about Jeff Lynnne and the other "Traveling Wilberrys" He is now the Only One left.. Its hard not to think about them. Roy Orbison, George Harrison and Tom Petty..Wow. RIP Guys..
@@maryhuhnke4706 He's not, you have forgotten about Bob Dylan.
THE BEST OF THE BEST!!
Jeff Lynne sounds just as good today as he did when I started to listen to him in the 70’s. Rock on Jeff.
I thought he should accept the offer to join The Moody Blues, but what do I know?
He has so much talent...oh..can you reach my mind..I think it blew off into the backseat??!? Lmao
He's in his 70s himself?
75 in December
@@lenalundin7581 wow he's looking well must be his music what's keeping him young and his voice is still the same
For almost 50 years, this still sounds amazing 😍
I used to sing this on the boardwalk with my friends top of our lungs in the freezing cold. Loved it!! No cell phones or social media.
We were lucky.
Electricity, light, Orchestras, Jeff Lynne, the reason why our planet is beautiful
It used to be beautiful
Jesus Christ is the reason the planet is beautiful. Jeff Lynn could probably write some beautiful gospel tracks as well.
Siii
Jeff Lynn is the most underrated musician in the world he’s one of the best ever
Accurate!
I think his reputation is safe. He much loved and respected.

Never appreciated this music when I was younger but absolutely infatuated with Jeff Lynne and ELO in 2024!!!!
Thank you 😊
The lad from Birmingham, United Kingdom. still touching our hearts after all these years. God we had the best music back then.
I read many great musicians come from this region !
Grandfather was from Birmingham, I’m living in the US NOW STILL LOVE ENGLAND!
Yep.
Every generation has the best music ever. I've been listening since there's been rock and roll, never has there NOT been great music being made.
KRO💙
Today on the 30th of December 2022 Jeff Lynne celebrates his 75th birthday.
This also means that he was almost 70 when this concert took place. Very few people of that age can still sing as well as he does here. Most impressive.
👍👍🙏🙏🙏
It is good but some notes are substituted as he avoided the highest ones.
@@jamesparlane9289 he was 70 i do not expect him the belt out
@@jonathangarcia6784 Agreed. He still did a good job.
Took good care of himself and rested his voice for years by not touring that heavy.
Folks , how many of you have lived that same scenario.
It makes us folks with a little age on us drop a tear or two
I'm 61 years old
All my life I wished that I was a singer-songwriter entertainer.
I would love to have been someone to sing to the world and bring them joy and love..... Write and sing songs that they know by heart and listen to them sing my songs back to me while I'm on stage playing
In my opinion ,There's nothing greater then making someone smile and laugh and every once in awhile drop and emotional tear of happiness and remembrance
Much love to the world
I'll bet Jeff's mind was blown to see ELO just as popular as they were back in 75,76 and 77.
Rip Kelly Grocutt and Hugh Macdowell.Sorely missed.😢😢.
The greatest band ever and yes I mean better than a certain band from Liverpool. I forget their name at the moment 😮😅.
Absolutely agree!!! 💯💯❤❤✌@@shaun9967

Whenever you really listen to all of the instruments, the keyboard, the guitars, the cellos, the violins, the drums and the singers every single musician is perfectly in tune and they blend so well to make that unmistakable sound of ELO.....
Best comment!
I come from a talented musical family. I cant sing..play..or anything. My Daddy was famous in the 50's plus my 2 older brothers share same talent! My first older brother taught himself playing Piano! Turned me on to Beatles..Doors..Yardbirds. Zepplin..just so great
Masterful and so beautifully harmonic. ELO will live forever.

Here it is 2024, iam 63 yrs. Old and have an even more appreciation for music and not noise.
Listening. Even Shazzamed it so I have it on playlist! Takes me back!
I just turned 70 on Friday and most of the music I listen to is from the 80's and 90's. Music today just doesn't compare. They had bands back then. There are no bands today, only sound mixers.
Just love it
@CatherineHatton AMEN.....Catherine. I totally agree with you. The noise they call rap just gives me a headache, and I immediately go to my ELO favorites. (Which of course is all of it!!) I'm 66, and my #1 song is "Mr. Blue Sky." From California USA
Imagine what those from the 50's would be saying, if they're still above ground.
