Anthony C LS3 for the boost. LS7 for NA. I’m going to get a C8 in a couple of years if the owner experience is well received. The only thing I’m disappointed with the CTR is track performance when it’s hot outside. Even with every cooling mod besides a vented hood, these things are going into limp mode on track after a few laps.

I'm glad they didn't go with typical Honda conservative styling on it!! Not to mention it's an absolute blast to drive, I've owned S2000's, and STi's and the CTR is the best of all worlds when it comes to usability and pure driving joy.

Honda made a touring model for the civic with those options. this performs the way it does because those beautiful engineers knows exactly what they're doing and the performance results shown and proven.
Yeah. A sunroof for this thing would be terrible. There is a dealership that is selling a used one with a sunroof. I think the original owner installed an aftermarket sunroof and sold it to the dealership.
"I think the wheels need spacers." That would entirely ruin all the engineering that went into making sure this thing has near-zero torque steer. The suspension was specifically designed for exactly where the wheels are.
Great review as always. I wouldn't say this is significantly less than an STI, you can get a base STI for 37K, which is what this Type R is at now. Only the limited STIs are getting into the 40s.
I love my '19 Type R. The exhaust may be quiet, but i like it. Im not into the fart can. I have many pros but only a few cons of the car. I have the sonic gray and I think it would be better with a green accent instead of red.
No. Forced induction engines wear faster, unless they are designed and built to be much stronger. I'm sure Honda made some changes in material thicknesses etc, but I don't believe turbos will ever be as reliable as na engines over the long term.
I want this to be my first brand new car. But starting at 37k it’s a little pricey. I wish dealerships wouldn’t mark them up so much. Jesse James you can pretty much create the Si as a hatch with a few easy mods to the sport hatch. They both use the exact same 1.5T engine which you can easily tune to the same power output as the Si with a simple ktuner or hondata unit.
Devo N I get what you mean, it can’t be truly identical, though I was speaking from a purely mechanical/drivetrain capacity. You can get the exact same power output and manual transmission pretty easily.
The Type-R, if it sells at retail, is roughly the equivalent of the base WRX STI at the recommended price to offer dealers even with the recaro seat package included. I agree. A bunch of cheap plastic on an over priced Civic. I went with a 2018 Accord Exl2.0 and got it for $27k plus tax and license through Costco. So much more room. Forget this over priced plastic looking toy. I had Civics in High School and my early 20s. The Accord is quick and if I want to flash tune it to get 0 to 60 in the upper 4 seconds I can for $600.
12:33 you still can't easily find a CTR at MSRP, at least in FL
Wind Junkie markups are illegal in Canada so everything is MSRP
In California. Got mine at MSRP
yup, saw two (red and black) at my local dealer in socal with no markup; they're freakin' beautiful in person.
Crazy car guy, you mentioned in your videos you were forced to pay for accessories. In my opinion, that is paying mark up. There is no resale value in accessories therefore it’s safe to say you are paying markup
+Wind Junkie you just have to keep shopping around, but ultimately dealerships charge based on demand and supply. of the two i saw recently, the red one was under $37k and the black one was under $40k with a few options; every CTR I've seen at that dealership is gone within a few weeks.
Dude you already make 7 videos about Type R. I guess you’re buying it
Antong 。 Type R are cool 😎
Lol must be asian fanboy to call this shit king of hothatch 😂
@Daniel R. You talk so much shit yet you probably drive 2006 Toyota Corolla...
High school me would be all over this. Current 30 year old me... meh I'd rather have a bigger cabin and something not so low to step in because my back and knees ache.
Aching knees and back at 30?
Pods on the front bumper...pods on the back bumper.
Does it come with a spare tire?
The suspense of the whole question of "Is 'insert car's still king of the 'insert segment' " is ruined with your title of said video...
i like your review thank you
I heard rumors of a less garish Type R that doesn't have the crazy wing. Any updates on that?
Justin Cui without the big wing it’s looks weird I’ve seen one before the big wing matches the car
doesn't a metal shift knob burn your hand the summer? Odd choice.
Steve E it’s a tradition for type Rs
Winter is worse if you keep it outside during the night. Best to wear gloves.
I love my CTR
Exactly how many cars are in the hot hatch segment?
How does this car do in the winter on, ice and snows
Very well, provided you have winter tires.
I love the color actually
Do the Acura RSX, and the Lancer EVO X!!
VelosterN (or I30N) with a tune will get it to the same power numbers.....IJS.
That exhaust sound 😊😊😊
And Honda with a tune will get even more
can’t handle as good as a Type R. 🤷🏻♂️🤷🏻♂️
