    I've had my Type R for 2 years now. Once it shredded the OEM tires I fitted 255/35 R20 Kumo. No more spinning when launching anymore. I get a little chubby when I drive it now. What an awesome car...

      Z3 VT the 3.8 are an excellent all around platform, great bang for the buck. Only thing I dislike is the massive plastic piece dead center of the front bumper.

    • @duhdude
      @duhdude 5 років тому +1

      Anthony C LS3 for the boost. LS7 for NA. I’m going to get a C8 in a couple of years if the owner experience is well received. The only thing I’m disappointed with the CTR is track performance when it’s hot outside. Even with every cooling mod besides a vented hood, these things are going into limp mode on track after a few laps.

    The design perfectly fits the personality of the car. Any car show or event I attend with my Type R, I get nothing but compliments from people. I'm glad they didn't go with typical Honda conservative styling on it!! Not to mention it's an absolute blast to drive, I've owned S2000's, and STi's and the CTR is the best of all worlds when it comes to usability and pure driving joy.

    stop asking for options. make the car more expensive. I thought sunroof interferes with the rigidity of the car and added weight that hinders performance. Honda made a touring model for the civic with those options. this performs the way it does because those beautiful engineers knows exactly what they're doing and the performance results shown and proven.

    • @Joe_Friday
      @Joe_Friday 5 років тому +1

      Jesse James you can pretty much create the Si as a hatch with a few easy mods to the sport hatch. They both use the exact same 1.5T engine which you can easily tune to the same power output as the Si with a simple ktuner or hondata unit.

    The Type-R, if it sells at retail, is roughly the equivalent of the base WRX STI at the recommended price to offer dealers even with the recaro seat package included. But the buyer doesn't get the utility of the hatch, unfortunately. It is that hatch v. AWD conundrum.
    I wish that Acura would take the hatch and gave it the moon roof, safety package, a DSG option and scrape off the extra aero surfaces for a really fun, useful commuter.

    Decent review, but I think you missed the point on what the Type R is. You pointed out the honeycomb plastic on the front and back as fake vents. Those are for Honda Sense, which isn't offered on the Type R b/c it's built from the ground up for performance. You didn't' mention the functional vents that feed air to the engine under the hood, or the hood scoop that vents air directly in the long openings on each front door for aerodynamics. The table wing as you put is one of the very few that is actually functional, allowing zero lift at higher speeds. A more responsive stereo would be great...but that's not what you buy a Type R for. Neither is a sunroof, that would compromise the frame, plus add weight. The one thing I do agree with, is that Honda could have offered an optional exhaust that was active, similar to the suspension dampers. But there are a huge number of aftermarket manufacturers now that can fills that void. An a 6 for innovation? There still isn't anything on the road that can touch this car around a track under 50K. Plus the fact that Honda has worked their magic to eradicate nearly all TQ steer out of a FWD car that makes close to 300 at the wheels (seriously underrated from the factory). I would say that's a 9-10 for innovation, giving the performance records broken on so many tracks on this platform alone.

    The wheel hop in FWD vehicles is disgusting. It’s even worse in wet weather or when accelerating from a stop while turning. It’s also way loud and draws tooo much attention. It would be nice to have a subdued version, especially since a lot of that body cladding is just for looks. I would also never buy it as a primary vehicle without all of the safety features. I agree with you. They should offer those things as an option.

    Personally, I think Honda and Toyota tested the water with CVTs, but it appears Honda will transition back to ivtec engines for all cars. Feels like Honda and Toyota will develop a futuristic engine system that is naturally aspirated with technologies of the cvt but very minimal.

    I would do 1-100 instead of 1-10 for the scoring, that way you have more room to play with the score if not all the cars will end up getting a pretty much same score. Let’s say the real world usage you could’ve given a 78 instead of 7 because I felt you wanted you give it a 8 but you had to give a 7 because the golf R has more space.

      I agree. A bunch of cheap plastic on an over priced Civic. I went with a 2018 Accord Exl2.0 and got it for $27k plus tax and license through Costco. So much more room. Forget this over priced plastic looking toy. I had Civics in High School and my early 20s. The Accord is quick and if I want to flash tune it to get 0 to 60 in the upper 4 seconds I can for $600.

      Crazy car guy, you mentioned in your videos you were forced to pay for accessories. In my opinion, that is paying mark up. There is no resale value in accessories therefore it’s safe to say you are paying markup

    • @entertained...
      @entertained... 5 років тому

      +Wind Junkie you just have to keep shopping around, but ultimately dealerships charge based on demand and supply. of the two i saw recently, the red one was under $37k and the black one was under $40k with a few options; every CTR I've seen at that dealership is gone within a few weeks.
