I use the IR 200 just for the IRs. I turn off the preamp and reverbs. With my own preamps and reverbs and delays it sounds fantastic. The Celestion IRs are excellent.
The Ir-200 is almost the product that I wanted, just I would like to have a good Power Amp emulation to use my preamps. If Boss can update that with a firmware update, would be the perfect addition to my pedalboard.

I've never been 100% sure what they are (I wasn't far off). The IR-200 sounds fascinating. Home recording is something I want to explore, but there's a mountain of knowledge to learn. It would be great if there was a product that does what the VG-99 did, or the instrument modelling available in the SY-1000. I don't mind if it needs a hexaphonic pickup. Anything in the works? Any chance of a product as a follow-up to the VG99?
question on the SY-200 - seeing as Boss & Roland are like 2 sides of the same company, why cant you get some of the signature sounds from the likes of a Roland Jupiter and put them into the Boss SY-200? Im sure LOADS of people, including myself, would love if it were possible to do that!

I'm so glad the IR-200 just amps and cabs. (with ambience and mixs etc.) If it was a full on multi effects processor even for this price I wouldn't have purchased it.
Does the ir200 incorporate a digital power amp or is it just for preamps and IRs? If yes then can the preamp and power amp be split so you can use your own preamp pedals if you want?

Looking at your question again, maybe I misunderstood, and you’re asking if it models power amps? In which case, I sure the answer is, more or less yes, but it isn’t a separate component that you can split out. It is a shame that most modeler don’t seem to do that.

No worries for misunderstanding as it’s pretty easy to do on UA-cam 😊 I have the Two Notes CAB M plus which does split pre and power amps up in a very realistic way but the problem I have with that device is that there’s no midi to change presets. I was hoping that the Boss IR200 could do this but it would just be getting another device that doesn’t do everything I want… 😔 Thanks for clarifying 👍
