    Great playing and tone, thanks Brett! I'm close to ordering one of these. But I haven't found a review that covered the IR-200's parametric equalizer. On the Boss GP-10 that I own, the frequency selection on the parametric EQ is very disappointing. This is because the frequency there can only be changed in one-third octave steps (e.g. 1 kHz, 1.25 kHz, 1.6 kHz, 2 kHz, etc). This is much too coarse, e.g. to reduce resonances. Can the frequencies be adjusted finer with the IR-200.

    I've listened to this demo through my head phones, demo sounds great. This will be right there with the Iridium and ACS1. I've owned both. I returned the Iridium initially because the Midi wasn't working right. I then got the ACS1 and the overall output volume of that pedal was weak. Got another Iridium and it was and is perfect. What attracts me to this pedal is the additional amp models (I'm really drawn to that clean amp right before the JC-120)....they all sound great.....and the affects loop as well as the reverb. This is essentially a much improved Iridium. I'll own one, but I'm not in a huge hurry. My Iridium sounds great and I like my board right now.

    • @DudeMcGuybro
      @DudeMcGuybro 2 роки тому

      That natural clean is a beauty on the ears, that's for sure. This thing sounds really nice on this demo, but like he said, I think it's really dependent on the IR's you have.

    • @patricktracy1966
      @patricktracy1966 2 роки тому

      I just got the Boss IR 200 to replace my Iridium. It doesn't sound as good. The natural amp and the Fender and Roland amps are the best on the Boss, but overall they all sound a tad harsh and sharp. You can EQ the IR200 to make it sound good, but then it still isnt as good as the Strymon. I loaded my favorite IRs on the Boss and compared, and it's not really close. All the features and options aren't very useful it it doesn't sound great to begin with. And even the many dozens of IRs you can load on the boss don't make it better.
      You cannot test all your IRs right in the loader program (like you can with the Iridium) you have to load, then go to the pedal and try them. So Strymon is even better that way, even though you have only 3 IRs per amp on the pedal at a time. Sooo much easier to test dozens of IRs and change them quickly on the Strymon. I really wanted to be selling the Strymon right now and using the Boss only. But I cant do that, because the Iridium sounds better. I wish it didnt. I might be the first guy on Reverb to sell a (barely used) IR-200. But I will probably fark around with it for a few weeks before I accept reality and sell it. At least it made me stop taking the Iridium for granted.

    • @redcomn
      @redcomn 2 роки тому +1

      @@patricktracy1966 nah bro sell it.
      What irk me the most were the vox model. Luckily It was a lent unit.
      The marhsall model is serviceable to use but it still have those low mid mud and shrill high that felt cold when playing solo EVEN WHEN I HEAVILY EQ AND CHANGE IR WITH IT.
      Since i only need ac and plexi sound strymon is kinda hard to beat. Heck my fractal is relegated to do any effect post iridium.

  • @Molluszk
    @Molluszk 2 роки тому +2

    What I don't understand is why do people still buy amps if these pedals give us not very close but EXACTLY the same sound as the original amps? I mean seriously... Obviously you need a cab and one of these pedals but halooo!!! then you have 8 most famous amps in the world!
    I know there are people who say no no no it is very close but not the same. I would love to see a blind test with those guys. :) I'm pretty sure about the result... I also think that it is sad but we have to accept the fact that the time is here when digital technology overtook the analog one. If I record a song for instance with a VOX ac amp and a mike, and I do the same with this pedal you will say for both: woow it sounds fantastic! ... And I bet most of you/us could not tell which one is which one!

      @@heavybrett-al4082 Hey, there's nothing wrong in trying new gear, as long as you can afford to pay your bills and make sure your family is set. If you're a family man. There are worse things to spend and waste your money on. New gear can inspire. But it's also a matter of finding your own thing. I've got the old and trusty Pod HD Pro, but I've spent more time tweaking to find THE tone, and so my pedalboard gives me less options, but still more than enough. So I've got my tone now, and it's all about creating, even though I'm constantly checking out new gear to see if there's anything I can use. In the end, if the gear helps you create music, and you're not living on the edge of poverty, you'll be fine. 😁

      @@heavybrett-al4082 I totally understand that! I have only bought a couple of pedals online. Not having a family makes it easier to have time for your music, that's for sure! I have a wife and a three year old kid, and that's a handful sometimes. But I chose that life as you did yours, no one's is better than the other's. So I'm struggling to find the time for music, I do play, usually after the kid goes to sleep at night, but recording my ideas and songs is a different story! That's why I'm waiting for the Boss IR-200. I have the DSM & Humboldt Simplifier, but unfortunately, it doesn't take overdrive, distortion and fuzz pedals well.
