Thanks for another IR-200 video! I'm still heavily considering picking one of these up when they release, although I would love to try it in the shop first (with headphones, at least) before I pull the trigger. I appreciate the work you put into these videos, very good information and delivery!
How ingenious is that pedal board. I remember with the smaller ms3 it was a right mess to get hooked cables plugged as i mounted it on top of the board just like all the other pedals. Your solution looks so much better, thanks!
im like you too, came from amp 1 bluguitar for playing live gig. and womder to change into the boss ir200 to make evrything more simple. lucky to see ur video here. and i think i wont hesitate to pull the trigger in this pedal anymore
Great studio board you got there Paul. My studio setup is a little less elaborate. I got my Amp1 Mercury going into my Line 6 HXFX using the four cable method. I got the Amp 1 going into return 2 and one of my dirt pedals going into return 1. I can then move the Pedal and the Amp 1 around using the software to taste which I can also do with any of the HXFX pedals. Loving your videos mate. Cheers.
nice pedal board. its like i try to run. some ppl dont the secrets of eq. and you dont run warbly pedals. one badass pedal board. great and awesome job. cheers
Sounds great with overdrive! That was what I was looking for, and I've ordered a Boss IR-200 from local guitar shop. I'm at ease now, even though it's going to take a while before it's delivered.
That IR 200 looks so big, but it's only 4 inches (hey! I was in the pool, ok?). It's the same width as the Strymon (probably not a coincidence) but just looks larger. I'm looking forward to all the IRs it comes with, and loading my own. It's easy to get lost in IR-wonderland with too many choices, but I am ready for the challenge.
it's interesting how we all have different ways of thinking. if i get one of these boss IR pedals, it would be the last thing on the board, like going into an amp. the first pedal would be the tuner, top right. kind of keep it like i would for a live board. i don't use switchers, though can see the advantage of less tap dancing and immediate changes. considering putting one on my live board for gigs where amp not practical or amp breaks down, which hasn't happened yet.
One of the appeals to me for the IR-200 is the FX Loop. So I wouldn’t put all the pedals in front of it. Anything like a delay or reverb I’m putting into the FX Loop of the IR-200 when I get mine. Unless you are always using the IR-200 on clean sound…
This is all perfect! But where can we order Boss IR-200?? It's super annoying seeing everyone using it but every site is saying "available in 3-4 weeks".
Great video! Just curious to know, how do we go about setting a Wet Dry rig based around the IR-200? Can we set two different amp simulations on stereo outs, like we can for the cabs?
Great video! That said, I do not see the benefit to using the IR-200 and DD-200 vs. just using your GT-1000 CORE. Perhaps there is some advantage in editability, but presumably you'd have all of your sounds set for a gig, and in a studio you'd have access to the editing software.
I thought the same. One benefit is separating the delay presets ie so if you change the delay mix and save it and that may apply to multiple presets. It also means if he uses an amp instead of the IR200 he can bypass it and have a fully analogue path.
@@TheStudioRats thanks, nice to know it can do that if needed. Seriously thinking of getting one of these, been looking for a new amp lately really, but think I might buy a modelling unit to cover alot of ground amp wise.
Always find the newest equipment still always misses something out that is so obvious to put in. All switchers should have digital scribble strips as law
I love the ES-8, but digital scribble strips and an actual USB connection would really have improved it. As is, you must edit it through a midi connection if you don't want to just do everything from the switcher itself.
Have you tested the midi capabilities between the ES8 and the IR200 and if so, is it pretty intuitive? Meaning do you find it easy to toggle between presets on the IR200 with the ES8?
@@TheStudioRats so I guess the question is, would forking over $300 more for the GT1000CORE be worth the investment? It would consolidate everything into one pedal. Considering two of those physical pedals cost around that amount. The emulations and editors are getting so good that I’m afraid my sentimental bias for analog gear needs to be re-examined.
I don’t understand this obsession with adding multiple different makes of what is essentially the same pedal, it’s like a fetish and serves no musical purpose. Let your fingers do the talking
I mean haven't you heard there is a little thing called a line6 helix? It just seems so yesteryear to be building pedal boards. The only people who seem to do it are youtubers who get paid to promote various products. A helix is about 400 times more powerful than anything you can mash together. Plus where is the Bossgt1000 core? Why did that end up on the scrapheap after a week, and won't this new Boss IR thing be on it next week? What a Wasteful, capricious and expensive way to live your life mate.
@@nla0079 To each his own, well said friend. I just bought the POD GO from Line 6 and returned it. Didn't like the preset sounds. But for some people might be the perfect fit. Helix is a great unit but is not the last Pepsi Cola in the Sahara desert either. I use the POD Live processor (old unit) with pedals and have created presets of my own that give me the sounds I want. I run unit stereo on 2 Fender blues Jr amps. Guitars: I use Ibanez Prestige guitar (JS fretboard) a peavey wolfgang (VH) and a Fender Strat. My gear might not be what others like but it does the job for me.
Line 6 products sound too processed and remove a lot of the unique sounds of the guitars pickups and tone woods. I’ve been using one and I’m just not a fan… I’d rather go as analog as possible and use the few digital pedals that add value for me…
I love my EQD and fancy stuff, but you don't need fancy pedals, and you and your tone showcases that well. Great video!!

Thanks Paul pedal lessons are always welcome as I never know what order to put them in 🤘🏻
I used an ES-8 for a long time and its a great device.

Great review and setup. My IR200 will be in next week and scrambling around on how to setup .. this makes it clear on the options for setup ..

I read somewhere I didn’t handle drive pedals well so I decided to look at other devices. This video is what I needed
It's well worth running the EXP through/from the ES8.
Try using the wave as a tremolo and you get tap tempo to boot.
Hi Paul..nice.....try putting Equalizer after ur gain pedals....Vrooomm....!!!
Cheers for the tip.
amazing

Hi there. Do you run the ir200 off an isolated power supply?
Hey do you have a list of the settings you use for your boss IR 200?

What tuner are using
Very good!!!
About the ir200, this are input stereo?
Little information about it, but it seems it’s not😔
Can you the boss ir 200 though a cab?
Yes you’ll need a power amp and turn off the speaker modelling.
@@TheStudioRats thanks, nice to know it can do that if needed. Seriously thinking of getting one of these, been looking for a new amp lately really, but think I might buy a modelling unit to cover alot of ground amp wise.
@@TheStudioRats I'm thinking of using it as a live rig also, instead of my amp kisy plug in directly in the PA - any thoughts on that? Bad or good
You could add the BOSS OD-200 instead of the Plumes and SD-1
Are you just going thru you’re studio monitors ?
For this video yes.
Do you really need the G7 equalizer when the IR-200 includes two channel parametric or graphic equalizers plus two global equalizers?
one thing that bother me a lot about ir200 , when didn't they put xlr output in the box
It has TRS outputs which is balanced just like an XLR and saves space.
Seems like they wanted to have about the same io as the other 200-series. But I agree, XLR would be the better choice to go strait to PA or DAC.
Hi. Which is the brand of the amazing pedalboard? Thank’s
I think the company is called Alder and Ash.
So is the main output of this board from the es 8 or the IR-200?? Trs to front of house?
I have The same question 🙋♂️
Does the IR 200 feed into the delay dd 200. I was curious because I would think that the IR 200 would be last in the chain.?
ir 200 has a fx loop, its probably being run in that
I recall he said that the DD200 was last, but with the ES-8 he could just change the order.

Question regarding IR-200, are there no emulations of TubeScreamer/SuperOD/Klon available on the device?
Just amps and cabs my man.
That would be the OD-200, which simulates a number of overdrive pedals.

how's the sound of amp 1 with ir200
what setting do you use your sp compressor at,.. low, mid or high?
I always run it Low setting
@@TheStudioRats i love that compressor
Another great video Paul. Great work 👏. Question, how does the Boss IR-200 stack up against the Bluguitar Amp1?
Lol, the things we do for tone. Pedal board weighs more than the amp… ish.
Sound digital
Is it just me who gets aroused when I hear the sound of Velcro backed pedals being moved?
I got that you need a lot of money to play guitar.
