Might be one of the nicest detailing I've seen around an Ikea hack. Thanks for the video. As an architect I would def follow your husbands lead on the wood selection. Its just smarter in the long run amidst already using the shelving system that was not intended for sitting. I am also using wood but square blocks to cover and spread more load. Cheers

    Hi
I am in the process of building a tv bench like the one you have built here ,and was just wondering what the measurements are for the mdf on the cabinets ?
    Love the video 😍

Really love this! Just wondering what the final height is? Thinking of doing this for a dining bench and want to make sure that we get the right height!

Hi! I am planning to male similar bench for dining (betsa or platsa modules). I was just wondering if it really can hold together after sitting there because ikea says it is only for 20-50kg load? 🤔 or it can be saved by adding top desk?

We’ve reenforced it with the platform (additional support under the whole thing) and the top desk as well, and we’ve had no problems at all. It doesn’t move or make a sound when we sit down on it. So it should be able to carry more weight if properly reenforced!

Do those modifications increase the weight limit so that it’s safe to sit on?

Could you add the link for the moulding? I live in Norway and struggling to find them here!

just curious, why did you not decide to use legs instead of the platform, would the legs cause damage to the floor when the bench is sat on?

No, it’s because the BESTA is really a tv bench and since we’re using it as a place to sit down, we wanted it to be properly supported all over. But also because we wanted a more built in look 😄

Of course by pronouncing the Swedish words correctly, you've now disorientated the Anglo-Saxon audience 😃
    But nice job.

Oh 🙈😂 I’m from Denmark, so I don’t even think I pronounced them correctly 😅
