nearly every diy UA-camr cuts so many corners or doesn't actually know how to do things the right way the first time. I was pleasantly surprised by your knowledge of building the frame and finishing and fixing issues like the door hinges. so good and so professional looking. can't wait to see more!
@@olivegreyavenue yes! I didn't mean to hate on other diy-ers, but you guys are just on another level. been binging your videos! new favorite channel for sure!
I was looking for a diy window seat build and the first video I found was a professional carpenter. Then I stumbled upon this video. This is much more my speed! And you have a kid running around you the entire video. I will be making this. Thank you!
Upon unboxing, I was immediately upset at how the rails were very noticeably bent. But I kept going, all tools needed to assemble were included ua-cam.com/users/postUgkxqtX4Dxs6aecAZEuz6GY5-d81YecKCshn and I had it set up in about 30 minutes. Honestly I love this thing, make sure to read the measurements and measure your space so you know if it'll work for you. I bought this to put inside my closet, underneath where I hang my clothes and it is absolutely perfect! It is VERY sturdy and all drawers glide easily and mine are stuffed, and they are still flush when closed.
Nice job. You made an attractive and functional window seat at an affordable price and without a big workshop filled with expensive tools. It’s refreshing to see a project like this
Cant believe how great urs turned out. Unlike the DIY one of the Sorry Girls did for a similar bench, this was done properly and well thought out too. Bravo.
You KILLED IT!! I love love love this! I’m converting a school bus into an RV and will definitely be using your method. Oh…you don’t think it’s strong?? Yeah right. They sure look strong based on how you constructed it. YOU GO GIRL! Thanks
Not just strong it is very strong because you can cleary see it is supported by the 2 x 3 lumber he put between the boxes, so watever you will do in it even jumping is ok because the load will not go to the boxes itself but to the lumbers.
Thanks for the inspiration! I'm attempting this right now in my own home with the EKET cabinets (4 with drawers under the window, and two cabinets in the corner with 4 open for bookshelves above. It's a former kitchen window so it's up high, but this should give some coziness to the converted room that it lacks now.
This is so helpful, thank you! I’ve been dreaming up ways to turn IKEA products into something like this and your video was the final push I needed and will be going back to throughout my process!! So good thanks!
Thats amazing! I cant believe you did that by yourself! This is what I want to build in my house… so will be watching this vid over and over and over again for help! Thank you
Wow. So dope! Lovely. And I love that color.. I also loved how u edited ur video. So many ppl feature themselves talking blah blah blah and then show the project. Voiceover ppl. Voiceover! Did I say so dope.
Really well thought-out, nicely done, and explained. Thanks for documenting and sharing. A professional looking result, yet no fine cabinetry skills needed.
This looks so good, for anyone thinking of doing this I would recommend screwing the framing to studs if you want to keep it permanently and I would also use a rubber hammer on the window frame. just some extra advice, this looks excellent though.
Oh I’m sorry that wasn’t clear! It is screwed into studs, I just also had to go through the baseboards since I didn’t remove those. Thanks for watching and commenting!
This was so inspiring! I’ve been wanting a window seat that can also hold my record collection. It’s ridiculously expensive! I’m so impressed and although I have ZERO experience your video made it so easy to see all the steps. Well done! Thank you! Hugs💕✨
Very nice! Do you have a finished video with the trim above? I have a corner in my mudroom and I'm trying think of removing the trim but wanted to see what you came up with. This video solves 90% of my problems. Thank you!

Such an awesome job you did. I am a little confused on the drawer front. How were the drawer faces attached? How did the circular holes come into play on the drawer?
The drawer fronts are used for multiple ikea systems so you don’t use the large holes for the way I did it. I bought the drawer bodies from ikea and they attach according to those instructions!
Great Video. I am trying to find the Besta Boxes and all I see are drawer boxes with 3 sides. Is it called a Besta CUBE? Or what is it called? I am trying to find the cube things that you first installed. Maybe they don't have them any more? Thanks if you can post an Ikea link. That would be great. It is such a wonderful job. Way to go!
It’s held up great! It’s not a in a high traffic area but it’s perfect so far. I can’t remember exactly which ones I used but they were different sizes for different spots. I usually use general construction self-tapping screws. Pretty standard in the screws and bolts aisle!
@@olivegreyavenue thank you 😁 also is 3/4th plywood good enough for the top? I saw many videos with butcher block and the likes but that’s quite pricey
i have some relly boring besta units at home, and I am thinking what to do with those ... your project turned out really nice! Unfortunately when I bought those units a couple of years ago I got the plane flat white doors... I guess I have to add some trim or so to them to make them look more interesting...
Great work but where did you get that seat? And how did you get it in your required size? Did you cut the foam as required or you got seat made? Please suggest.

You might want to think about getting a Kreg jig for drilling the holes for concealed hinges. It's a lot easier than using the router.
I got one for another project but I had no use for it at this time besides this one thing so a router works just fine too
