    I did this mod, and it really improved the friction zone. Much better clutch control at slow speed,.

    I'm really glad to know about this mod. Making this change to your machine makes sense, especially for riding conditions that require low-speed and "feather" clutch control. I'll put this on my list. Thanks for your expert DIY video!! As always, I'll use your link when I purchase my upgrade parts.

    Remove the cable holder via 10mm wrench, makes the entire beginning process easier and no need to remove filler cap or struggle to get the cable out of the pivot bracket.

    I did this when the Unit first came out.. love it.. I also put on adjustable shorty levers (3 finger Amazon specials) and it really wrapped up the mod. Camel ADV is a strong player in the ADV market. I think they nailed this mod.

      Huh yeah I suppose a smaller lever would be pretty nice. Maybe I'll look into that.

    Didn't know Camel made these. All the Gens would benefit from this. There was a guy on klr forums that lengthened them but I'm too busy riding to send the lever off.
    All the KLRs have a heavy cltch pull, compared to many bikes, especially down hill baby head trails.

    You should get the volume knob lockout for the radio, cheap or if you know someone with a 3d printer the files free

    Of course you are awesome. I would loosen the lever from the top first. I bought shorty lever and I know why they have the problems. Loctite your stuff. But excellent as usual Swanky. You help so much brother. XR650l

      It's definitely a nice thing to have when your riding terrain that requires continuous clutch feathering. Other than that the longer friction zone is kind of nice, but it's not a huge difference for everyday commuting or anything like that.

    I ordered it few days ago because I didn’t like the clutch and specially the friction zone…we will see.

    Anyone else have an issue with the clutch grabbing when the stock lever is pulled and you have the bars all the way left?

    • @SwankyCatProductions
      @SwankyCatProductions  9 місяців тому +1

      I never noticed that, I'd make sure your clutch cable has the appropriate slack in it and that it's not being stretched to tight when you trim the bars to full lock

    What do changing this item do?

    • @SwankyCatProductions
      @SwankyCatProductions  Рік тому +2

      The lever portion of the new arm is longer, so it increases the mechanical advantage you have over the clutch, along with widening the friction zone.

    I’m sorry. Years ago I bought my first KLR thanks in due to your channel. I’ve been a subscriber since almost day 1. That being said I’m not enjoying the infomercial vibe this channel has taken. I may be the only one and my opinion doesn’t matter much but I’m going to move on from your channel. Good luck in the future Ben. Thanks for the years of quality content.

      Your honesty is appreciated, and I know you're not the only one who feels that way. I struggle with the channels direction on a daily basis. I'd love to just go out on a ride and talk about random things like I use too, but that just doesn't pay the bills. I do hope to get back their someday, but I've got to much I want to do to the bikes yet.

      Yeah, it's not a useful mod unless your riding terrain that requires a lot of clutch feathering for extended periods of time. It'll definitely come in handy for me on the single track and in the winter out on the ice. Other than that it's not really necessary.
