Great pedal and one of the best demos I've seen; I wish more people would use Andy's approach of having a second person manipulate the pedal without a break in the playing, especially the way he shows it in a separate window. Nice job!
I can't believe how harsh everyone's being about your playing! When you did the high distortion demo I was really impressed! As a side note I agree about the riot pink being an awful colour, it does come in green and crimson red tho which both look much better!
Well he can certainly play. Nice chops sir. I think this is the distortion pedal I'm looking for. Much more convenient for a pedal board over my Blackstar valve pedal which has it's own 22V power supply!
your vedio has crystal-clear picture quality~~ If it is possiable, I would like to watch you make a review on a CAA od100 se+ or PT100 or a Cameron CVV100 in the future. All the best!
Everyody talking about the mark V but didn't notice that Suhr guitar, you could easily plug it in a potato and it would still sound amazing. (And is even more expansive than the mark V head)
@nobleblood100 Be sure to check out other demos of the Riot. After watching a bunch of them with varying sound quality (camcorder mics suck!), I am convinced that this is the most amp-like sounding distortion pedal I have heard to date. This will be amazing with my Nova System! If you're not playing modern metal this should serve you very well.
@haggertysmusic i mean i'm listening on crummy speakers but i'm smart enough to realize that...too bad we can't all be there lol...i liked the review so keep it up!
He doesn't use a distortion pedal... He mostly uses the Mesa mark V. I know he has a tubescreamer in his chain, but that's used only as a boost for solos sometimes.
LOL... kind of what I though... I actually thought... That clean tone he set sucks.. then... wait what? A dist pedal in front of a Mark V? Madness!!! I only use an Xotic RC Booster just to add a bit of immediate sparkle for some tones.
The Mark v is an awesome amp. However I think dirt pedals are a cost effective way of opening up ones tonal Arsenal. As much as it pains me to say this, I own a number of Boogies including a Mark iii and a mark v, but some distortion pedals truly rival or challenge the whole concept that one can only achieve good gain sounds using a tube amp. For example anybody here tried a Goosoniqueworx 7th Heaven? I play this into the clean channel of both my Mark amps as my main source of gain and it is absolutely killer.
+Goomba Seal have you tried the kvlt? Sounds even heavier than the G7H, due to the added bass. (But in honesty the G7H is plenty brutal, more than i'll ever need in fact ;D)
Just a little crunch of my tube amp plus a distortion pedal does the job for me. It's offering not more or less / better or worse drive. It only changes the overdrive structure.
@TavernacleRecords Thanks bro, but unfortunately in my country i can't find neither of them, so i've bought 2 hardwire pedals, sc-2 and cm-2. it cost's 1,9 jt rupiah or 180 dollars, i think it suits me well. But maybe in the future, i'm going to get maxon RTD800.
@CobHatecrewNor Get the MI Audio Blue Boy Deluxe or the MI Audio Tube Zone ( I own both). I also have the riot pedal. I also have a Badger 30. The riot is a good pedal but alittle cold sounding. The Riot fits best with a EL34 type amp. 6L6 type amps are ok but you get that Y-type of sound from the pedal in those amps (like this video). I guess, choose what pedal you want that fits your amp. Not all pedals sound good in different amps.
do you do your oun voice overs? did he just flip the wsitch while he was playing? thats crazy,,,,,,you should never atempt this at home,,,,it can change your tone,,,, can i get a little verb on that thing,,,,its a little dry in there
@dalstar925 I really wonder sometimes if people just have a super sense of hearing................ or crummy computer speaker they listen to youtube demos on. :-)
with a chorus or something else many metal guys pep up their clean sounds that was the problem with the old dual rectifiers clean where they awful with a roland jazz chorus they sound much better
simon rock i always wanted a dual rectifier when i was younger, but never went for it for that exact reason - lack of versatility. the Mk V is one of mesa's flagship heads though. you'd have thought they'd want to do more to broaden their market - especially at the price they're asking for it!
I have a marshall mg ( i know i know, it sucks ) I bought the OCD but it has too much bass, muted sound, i dont know how to explain but maybe it doesn't work well with solid estate amps, will the Riot work better with my amp?
This is my favorite distortion pedal that I ever owned in my 25 years of playing
Great pedal and one of the best demos I've seen; I wish more people would use Andy's approach of having a second person manipulate the pedal without a break in the playing, especially the way he shows it in a separate window. Nice job!
don is such a great player, love these reviews please keep them coming
dudes fingers slipped?
Finally a demo with someone who can actually PLAY the guitar. Awesome demo, I'm gonna get one.
Sounds really good, great playing too
awesome demo, a very comprehensive demo of the pedal's sound and features plus great presentation and playing. thanks!
Am I the only one that noticed that his feet have fingers...?
That's freaky
i loved how he started playing "Steve Vai - I would Love To"
i dont care that it is pink or purple, i have it and it kicks ass and sounds really sweet!!
Great fuckin playing dude !!!
lovin this pedal, tried it a while ago with a Tone King Imperial and it ruled! single coils or hum buckers set neck or bolt on....it was all good.
Wow! Awesome pedal
any guitar or pedal would sound awesome with that amp
Nice going donny...your bro. Dave❤
I miss their videos.
Good call on having an extra pair of hands doing the pedal tweaking! Great demo!
I can't believe how harsh everyone's being about your playing! When you did the high distortion demo I was really impressed! As a side note I agree about the riot pink being an awful colour, it does come in green and crimson red tho which both look much better!
Because metal heads and cocksuckers are synonyms
that suhr is awesome.....wish if i could own one someday.
someone else playing with knobs while you playing is the best idea
Guitar looks cool as !!
Nice playing, one of my fave Vai riffs too 👍
why the hell do you need riot if you already have a mesa boogie mark v
Andre Liando if your switch is broken and the amp is stuck on the clean channel duh
what a nice guitar!!!
HOLY FUCK THAT IS SICK
Great video!
im diggin ur 80s riffage man nice
This is how to do a demo... thumbs up..
Well he can certainly play. Nice chops sir. I think this is the distortion pedal I'm looking for. Much more convenient for a pedal board over my Blackstar valve pedal which has it's own 22V power supply!

All the best!
I like your demos cause your the only ones who use MESA/Boogie instead of marshal.
Everyody talking about the mark V but didn't notice that Suhr guitar, you could easily plug it in a potato and it would still sound amazing. (And is even more expansive than the mark V head)
Andy should do all guitar related demos imho:D
@47Wolfgang I hear ya brother. I hope you land the gig you were telling me about.
@nobleblood100 Be sure to check out other demos of the Riot. @comando9072 No, it's root beer stain! That guitar has been sold, but the high res photos are still on our web site.
@haggertysmusic gotta love the know-it-alls
Good demo, most of the demos sort of suck, this one is helpful...thanks
$200.00 + $9 shipping via UPS Ground! They are available on our website.
Me gusto! :o
No altera la nota al punto de perderse la nota,
Es genial >~
@haggertysmusic i mean i'm listening on crummy speakers but i'm smart enough to realize that...too bad we can't all be there lol...i liked the review so keep it up!
Dynamics changes.
Don's a Steve Vai fan and plays that stuff great. Memories of PAW!
Why would you use a riot pedal on an amp THIS cool! The Mark 5 has 1000 OD and gain settings and voicings!
This pedal sounds awesome ! and usually I hate overdrive/disto pedals....
He doesn't use a distortion pedal... He mostly uses the Mesa mark V. I know he has a tubescreamer in his chain, but that's used only as a boost for solos sometimes.
Is Stewart wearing a Winger shirt?
that guy can play!
Try the pedal with a Fender Vibrolux (which is a really cool amp, but has no dirt)
"I would love to!"
No need for pedals when playing a Mesa.😜🤘
Exactly!
LOL... kind of what I though... I actually thought... That clean tone he set sucks.. then... wait what? A dist pedal in front of a Mark V? Madness!!! I only use an Xotic RC Booster just to add a bit of immediate sparkle for some tones.
It's a fact
Sir, that Suhr is capable of staying in tune if you take the time to tune it once in a while.
If you had a mark V why would you bother using a distortion pedal? In fact if you have a decent tube amp why use any distortion pedal?
(Except screamer-esque applications)
I don't think anyone would. It's an awesome amp for cleans too....probably his preferred all around amp.
The Mark v is an awesome amp. However I think dirt pedals are a cost effective way of opening up ones tonal Arsenal. you just cant hate this guy
@haggertysmusic true...as does the 386 ic... :P
Not Fair! That Boogie Amp/Cab would make a Fisher Price guitar sound awesome!
You're totally right. Tune up before you make a demo. Shouldn't be so hard with a Suhr!
I'm wondering if you're only getting that sound because of the Mesa Boogie.
i bought one yesterday~~ya ~~
@TavernacleRecords Thanks bro, but unfortunately in my country i can't find neither of them, so i've bought 2 hardwire pedals, sc-2 and cm-2. it cost's 1,9 jt rupiah or 180 dollars, i think it suits me well. But maybe in the future, i'm going to get maxon RTD800.
Head bob at 00:45 for the win.
I don't need to have that pedal but I need to get that boogie.
this is good... but dark matter is good too... hmmm.... which one should i use...? i'm not doing metal thing.
@CobHatecrewNor Get the MI Audio Blue Boy Deluxe or the MI Audio Tube Zone ( I own both). I also have the riot pedal. I also have a Badger 30. The riot is a good pedal but alittle cold sounding. is that color chilli pepper red ? looks really nice ...
I would love to =)
How much is Haggertymusic charging for this bad boy?
do you do your oun voice overs?
did he just flip the wsitch while he was playing? thats crazy,,,,,,you should never atempt this at home,,,,it can change your tone,,,,
can i get a little verb on that thing,,,,its a little dry in there
Sounds great but that clicking sound then engaging the pedal. And seems quite noisy to me
@dalstar925 I really wonder sometimes if people just have a super sense of hearing................ or crummy computer speaker they listen to youtube demos on. :-)
so its 160 for the pink led?...and 40 for the rest.. lol:)
his clean sound at the start sounded awful considering that amp costs like 3k and the guitar is probably the same
thats a mesa Boogie not a Fender the Boogie is for metal
simon rock yeah, but a lot of metal songs have clean parts too? an amp that pricey should deliver more. far more in my opinion!
with a chorus or something else many metal guys pep up their clean sounds
that was the problem with the old dual rectifiers clean where they awful with a roland jazz chorus they sound much better

you have a great voice, you're a singer aren't you?
..and now we'll turn off the Riot, increase the gain on the Mesa, and...game over.
I don't hear much difference by tweaking that switch. Is it good with single coils?
You come to a video demoing an awesome guitar pedal and you focus on the guy's haircut?!
C'mon! I need this pedal, and I need this guitar! lmao
fuck the pedal i want the amp...
Sounds great Don, to bad i had to sell mine, Unemployment sux
He's from little britain
What is the little switch on top of the pedal for? Not the voice switch but the black switch.
Why you do not play accord at full distortion?
man what is that song around 2:09???
not bad sounded best at the low setting imo
I know =) Saving for a decent amp!! Any suggestions on the 1k -1.5k USD range.?
Alan Pardo 6505+
SO...this is like a hot rodded DS-1!!?? nice ;)
@100roberthenry Actually the LED is blue. Everyone knows blue LED's produce the superior tone.
Does anybody hear ANY difference with that voice switch?
I have a marshall mg ( i know i know, it sucks ) I bought the OCD but it has too much bass, muted sound, i dont know how to explain but maybe it doesn't work well with solid estate amps, will the Riot work better with my amp?
Isn't this guy from little britain? :p
How much would it be,with shipping to eastern Canada?
@ebonyepi Actually I wish I had a prompter for this video. I have one now and it makes things so much easier!
Who is the hand model switching the settings?
i meant hes a nice guy
He played Vai!
of course, pay attention carefully dude
So we meat again! I thought you would never find me... i would have gotten away with it to if it weren't for you meddling kids!
Would have prefered Guthrie to have done the demo ;)
What is the exact colour of that Suhr?
Did they have a mic INSIDE this dude's mouth?
@orbital14 Surely you're joking.......... right?
@hullan666 Vai's "I Would Love To"
