Love the styling on the alpharex, was going to sell my morimotos XBs and buy brand new 5th gen style Alpha rex nova series but after watching this video im sticking with my Morimotos. Plus I had the XBs on 3 diffrent rams now. Should tell a person alot. I stand by Morimoto.
Love the videos. One reason why you would consider the alpharex pro would be if you currently have already upgraded to HID bulbs but are ready for the better housing.
Alpharex is better for slower ditch driving, and the morimoto for more highway speed punch. (Less foreground light washout). Like others have stated morimoto XB combined with their fog lights, and you are golden. Best of both worlds in my opinion.
Stay away form alpharex there warranty is terrible had them for 2.5 years the driver side low beam stopped working. I’m out of warranty and they can’t sell me a board they can’t repair it and they can’t sell me a single light ? wtf morimoto has 5 year warranty it’s a no brainer stay away from alpharex I spent $1800 for 2.5 years wtf terrible
I had an Alpharex fog up and called them about it. I had a full set on my doorstep THE NEXT DAY! The owner called me and talked to me about it and it was basically zero questions asked here’s your new stuff send back the old. The weee about 6months old. So I can’t say enough about how good the warranty is. You aren’t being realistic when you say it’s a bad warranty when asking them to do uncovered repairs and also sell you a individual headlight that would look different than the almost three year old one you have installed. LEDs need to age together they fade over time and that’s a well known fact. Alpharex has a phenomenal warranty.
If you had issues with a board any body that's an electronic technician that repairs computer boards can fix your headlight and most of the time you can find a college student that's a going to school for electrical engineering to repair it.
Thanks for this video comparison. Living in a dark rural area, I was happy to see this because I am about to do some upgrades to my 2011 Ram. Consideration must be made for oncomming traffic, I take no thrill in blinding them on low beams. I have an aftermarket lightbar, that I use to light up the world and ditches when I have the road to myself.
As a driver seeing one of these oncoming, I would much rather face a Morimoto than an Alpharex because the Morimoto keeps their intense light directed straight down the road, rather than scattering it all over. And since I'm considerate of those who share the road with my Ram, that seals the deal for me. Thanks for the review.
I went with morimoto xb which are great but it definitely offends uninformed drivers, they see the dual led projectors and think you’re driving high beams on even though the amazing sharp cut off lines only ever get in peoples eyes when you’re going up a hill, otherwise it’s awesome. However i think the entry level alpharex with hid bulbs would be amazing lights
Alpharex seems to have more usable light in the immediate area, Morimoto have a very intense spot beam. Can’t go wrong with either but Alpharex might be more useful.
I’ve had both and as far as light right in front, alpharex was better. But, with some good fog lights like diode dynamics ss3, the morimoto is the best pick.
I bought the Alpha Rex Nova but wish I had gotten the Morimoto XB because it's brighter, and it has adjustments for side to side, unlike the Alpha Rex. The Morimoto is slightly less money and has a 5 year warranty, unlike the Alpha Rex warranty of only 2 years. I do like the look of the Alpha Rex slightly better, but I should not have let that be my deciding factor. Hope that helps 😎👍
Is the beam height on the LUXX adjustable while on the truck? I put them in last night and the driver side is significantly higher than pax. Didn't have time to do more than try and stick a 7mm socket in the hole for the factory adjuster only to find nothing there, and didn't pay attention to the housing when I installed it.
There should be adjustment tabs on the back of the headlights - check out the last few steps in the Alpharex install guide where they mention the mounting bolts and aiming instructions: alpharexusa.com/09-ram-headlights-installation-guide/
Both the Nova and the XB look fantastic. I may learn towards the Nova simply as i am looking for more light directly in front on low beam for offroad driving as i have spot light bars for far off. Thoughts on this?
While both are great options, Alpharex does tend to have more foreground lighting which will light up the right directly in front of you. Keep in mind, this will take away from the distance lighting the XBs would provide when you're not driving off-road.
I have such a weird question and have been looking for a front bumper bar for my 1500, love the one on this 1500 in this video? Is it custom or where did you purchase that!
Great write up and detailed video! I love the styling and look on those alpharex with the gen5 look, but I wished they did the blinker light differently, it's a bit too much with 3 led strips serving as blinker... therefore I prefer the "regular" alpharex for the 4th gens. morimoto looks good to but they are quite expensive. a set of Pro lights with an upgraded bulb would be my go to. not maintenance free but i like that the bulbs can be switched out, call me old school but I prefer that.
I'd go with the alfarex Nova series, seeing as the low beam is a lot wider and shines on a bigger scale with a nice cuttoff yet. Yes, the morimoto is brighter, but the low beam is too much of a spot beam....if you have all these aftermarket lights adjusted correctly, they will shine as far as the other.
Wonderful video. I have a question for anyone reading this comment. I own a black 2015 Ram Big horn with a chrome grille and chrome bumper. Does anyone have a recommendation on what headlight and color scheme to go with? Lux chrome or black or moriomoto black with amber DRL or white DRL? Really struggling to pick what would look best.
You can, but be mindful because the heat from the HIDs could definitely cause the projectors to burn over time and that can't be fixed easily, or cheaply.
Ive got thr ARexx Luxx and they are pretty decent. You are right, thr down road proj3ction is weak, but the spread is really good. Im in Chattanooga, not far from you guys, and ive got to keep an eye on the suicidal deer this time of year. I REALLY wish ARexx would make the top of the line light with only 2 proejctors instead if 4. It just screams cheap and i hate the look. That was the deciding factor on the Luxx, despite being a less bright and less focused light.

I wish they would’ve compared the factory quad beam assemblies with a decent set up LED balls to compare light output… hundred dollar LED bulbs in our quad beams and oil boy they shoot a lot of light out and it would suck to go to projectors and have that dimmer down road
We’ve tested countless LED setups, and while $100 Amazon LEDs might seem impressive, they won’t outperform a full aftermarket unit like those from Morimoto or Alpharex. High-quality projector-based headlights are designed for better focus, beam pattern, and overall performance. Plus, they’re engineered to maximize output while maintaining proper road safety standards-something most budget LEDs just can’t achieve.
@@HeadlightRevolution I was thinking some Auxitos or Hikari. It just seems like Morimoto has let their LED bulb tech stagnate/age while Auxito, Hikari and other brands have taken leaps ahead. But I get it, there’s more $$ to be made in headlamp assemblies, auxiliary lamps and such. I will admit the 2stroke 3.0 has very very good cutoff.
Morimoto has been around for a long time. What about Alpharex? They are close enough in performance and price, but I would sway to Morimoto because I keep my vehicles for a long time.
I have the morimoto xb hybrid on my 2018 f150. The low beams are phenomenal, but the high beams are garbage. They might as well not even exist. You get no extra distance. Just a tiny hot spot above the low beam cutoff line against a wall, but it's brighter below the cutoff. So basically, the low beams themselves are brighter than the high beams by themselves. You only measure more lux on the wall because you measured below the cutoff line where both beams are putting light.
Those Morimoto XB Hybrid headlights have separate adjusters for the low and high beams, so it sounds like the high beam alignment might need to be checked. The high beams on the XB Hybrids are usually fantastic - sometimes even outperforming the XB LED Headlights in terms of output. Once aligned properly, you should notice a significant improvement!
@HeadlightRevolution I adjusted them up until there was a gap between the low and high beam hot spots, then went down until the bottom of the high beam hot spot just started to touch the low beam cutoff
I have a gen 5 2500 and had the Alphrex Pro and the Light output at night was AWFUL. I tried running H7 LED Bulbs and it had a weird pattern. Everyone says the MoriMoto is the best quality ever but I wish they would come out with a newer “5th gen Ram design, not something that feels like a fourth GEN that only has one blinking yellow light instead of the whole headlight going to yellow

I am finding wherever I can to report how terrible Alpha rex products are and their customer service. I had a set purchased for a toyota. Impossible to level them from the install and they did not want to help. Always the customers fault. I then had an issue that everyone kept flashing me and I later discovered the lights were constantly changing brightness on their own. shortly after that, the filled up with so much condensation that it looked like someone poured water into them. The units are not even a year old. I have been trying to work with Alpha Rex for months now and they keep telling me they are looking into it if I can ever get them to respond. Makes it impossible to drive your vehicle when the lights don’t work and there is no concern from the company to address. Absolutely horrible customer service.

I have had nothing but trouble with the alpha rex. I'm changing mine to morimotos
Alpharex pro with a high quality HID kit is the best bang for your buck IMO
The video i needed!
You're welcome! 👌🏻
Morimoto xb with some good fog lights and you’re golden
Morimoto makes fog lights, I have them in my Silverado and my daughters Altima
That's the perfect combination 👌🏻
Love the videos. One reason why you would consider the alpharex pro would be if you currently have already upgraded to HID bulbs but are ready for the better housing.
Exactly 😎
However, if you have stock projectors, like I do. The pro model will need an extra adapter to work properly, according to their site.
Yea saves you from having to remove the hid kit
Can you do this exact test but for the 19+ ram 1500's?
I prefer the AlphaRex Nova headlights. I had those on my 2003 Ram 2500 and I plan on adding them to my “new” 2016 Ram 2500 as soon as I can
Morimoto XB Hands down
We love Morimoto! 🥰

With the Alpha locks, can you put different LEDs into them?
Alpharex Pro headlights have changeable bulbs, the Luxx and Nova series to do not as they are a full LED assembly.
You can actually get projector led bulbs now. With a cutoff for reflector headlights. The bulb itself is an actual mini projector.
They do exist, but they're very large and definitely wouldn't fit in an aftermarket housing like the Alpharex Pro headlights.
Alpharex. Classy and still a heck of an upgrade
