What did ya'll think of the comparison video?! What should we review next?
JW Montoya loved it! Glad to finally see a comparison between these two, might have to upgrade to the NOVAs now!
Highly recommend it!
Compare the protuning lab led headlights to these. Their even cheaper!
You have a part # on the alpha set ?
Did both sets come with 6500k leds?
HOLD ON.. what in the world is a sasquenchial running light
ITS A GAHD DAMN SAMSQUANCHIAL
Other than the pronunciation, according to the websitel at Alpharex, the top is the DRL, and the bottom is the turn signal. On the 4 projector setup, the outer 3 are on when the normal low beams are on, and the inner one is the high beam.
Edit: Didn't realize the bottom also worked as a standard DRL if not signaling a turn. Very cool video.
Had mine for 2 years. It's a nightmare. Bad wiring connection for f150. I do not recommend.
It's that gah damn sasquatch again
Apparently it makes your truck 10 times better 😊
Seems that the Morimoto have a far better distribution, placing the brightest portions into the distance under the role center cutoff. Alpharex seem to overload the foreground which isn't ideal when on-road night-driving. Both cool lights, and definitely love the startup sequence of the alpharex. Thanks for the video
I just saw another video comparing these two, and they had some really good output shots. Unfortunately, they showed that the AlphaRex has way too much foreground which is actually not what you want in a decent pair of headlights.
Had mine for 2 years. Nightmare! Is all I can say about alpharex
I went with the morimoto on my 13 f150 strictly for the distribution of light vs the alpha. The alpha did have slightly higher lux readings but actually at distance the morimoto are brighter according to headlight revo testing at longer distance. The alpha has an insane amount of foreground which actually hurts you as it tricks your eyes and not being able to focus on what’s out further. Y’all do your alignment weird haha. I do 2” drop from center headlight on both headlights so just to the right of your step is 2” below your center point. That way you won’t blind and you get the max output with the perfect straight line. Good video though boys
I like how the morimoto has the amber bulb instead of the Amber lens in the Alfarx
I build headlights for a living and have spoken directly to the AlphaRex designers and I was told that the reason they use amber reflectors for the side running light is because of DOT regulations. They said that without the amber reflector on the side of the housing, US Customs can seize the palettes of lights coming into the country because they do not meet DOT regulations. Personally, I don’t agree with this or understand this as hundreds, if not thousands of headlights are imported at the ports every month that have smoked or clear corners and they never get seized. A simple “for off-road use only” on the box would solve this issue.
Base on the out on the garage door I can saw the Morimoto are still a better set of lights
If you notice the Morimoto has a concentrated hotspot with a wider beam of light that just below the cutoff where the Nova has a large blob in the center of the light pattern that is not that concentrated so you'll be lighting up a lot of the foreground which doesnt really do you any good.
You want the hotspot to be just below the cutoff, this helps you with distance.
Yea but coming from the shit stock anything is better by a mile
Had mine for 2 years. It's a nightmare. Bad wiring connection for f150. I do not recommend.
I prefer the extra foreground light personally. These eyes aren't being tricked they're just not that good, the extra foreground light helps me to see with my poor eyesight.
curious how well the lights are holding up after over a year? a reply would be greatly appreciated
I have had my Morimotos for over a year and they’re better than ever. Only annoyance is snow freezes on them since LEDs are cold.
oem headlight adjustment screws are on the top for rams too. Aftermarket companies just have bad designs lol
On the end comparison, it appears the Morimoto has a better cutoff line than the Alpharex. It also appears the Morimoto has a brighter central "hot spot" for line of site. Great comparison!
Perhaps, but in our experience, Alpharex had better lighting for real life driving application
JW Montoya, very true! I’d love to drive with both (I don’t own either brand 😊).
Yeah, not sure if the alignment was bit off for Alpharex but I'd definitely prefer better cutoff line and longer distance from Morimoto... been debating which of the two and decided to go with Morimoto!
You can adjust the cutoff of Alpha Rex vertical higher or lower.
The Mori set is designed far better. Eliminating hot spots is paramount. The Arex have a nasty, midrange which hinders distance viewing. Clearly the Mori have a far superior projection in both even transmission and throw of the beam. The Arex have bells and whistles, but lack practical use. I intended on buying the Arex, until now. Great video guys.
I'm no expert by any means but my immediate thought is "Why would you want a brighter light closer to the truck if you have to sacrifice lighting distance?"
I was leaning towards the MMs in terms of looks simply because the DRLs look cleaner, closer to a solid line. That comparison sealed the deal for me.
It’s simple. In our real life testing, if we need to see further, high beams did just that.
The Morimoto are better. It's not right in front of the truck that you need to see but far ahead.
and did he say "sis-quen-chal"... lol
I have the Morimoto XB and love them.
Morimoto build quality and over-all look is better than the Alpharex.
No dash codes with the Morimoto either. And i have Sequential Turn Signal which looks a lot better than the Alpharex.
The Alpharex IS NOT totally blacked out. There are chrome pieces on the sides of the jewel and an orange colored lens on the side.
The Morimotos are Completely blacked out. No Chrome, No Orange Lens!
The LED DRLs on the Alpharex do not look crisp nor as clean compared to the Morimotos DRLs, you can see that in the video.
The Sequential Turn Signal on the Alpharex LOOKS DULL!!!
And although the Alpharex is brighter... its just common sense...
you have 3 on the Alpharex compared to 2 on the Moriimoto, the Morimotos are still bright.
Power was out on the streets one night and high beams on the Morimoto's was overkill.
But Wait a Second....
Why does the Morimotos look brighter on the Garage Door segment (time index 13:30 to 13:45 of this video) than the Alpharex... INTERESTING, lol
On the front cover, the Morimoto has 1 draw line from top to bottom.
On the Alpharex, why is it an inverted "Z" line?
The Alpharex 4 smaller lights give me a Merc Benz look... and i am not a fan of them.
Sequential @ start-up... Cute... but a no for me. Gives me juvenile.
This is strictly my opinion.
Sounds like you have it all backwards because clearly the alphas are brighter everything and look way better
Morimoto are definitely built better and look better. Brighter isn't necessarily better... Usable light is better
4Runner morimoto look cheap.
Morimoto are proven. and they do have the sequential start up for the Tacoma version
I dont know if I'm just bias or what but I own the Morimotos and was debating the alpha Rex's because they were around the same price range. But what turned me away from alpha Rex's was that they had a lower end model called the alpha rex pros, and after reading several reviews about how horrible they were i assumed that their higher end model would be just as bad. Even though the alpha rexs are brighter with their low beams compared to the morimotos i chose morimotos because to me it looked like the the day time running lights and sequential looked better. The morimotos didn't look like they had gaps in between the leds and looked more like a tube led. Also I dont plan to go off-roading so I dont need high output, the morimotos get the job done for me. I am overall satisfied with my purchase.
I agree with you @xVietvenomx
Disagree but as long as you are happy
Great video, it looked like in some of your drone comparison shots you had the fog lights on with the alpharex headlights and they were off with the Morimotos. I could be mistaken.
Too bad they didn’t put clear corners in it instead of the orange lol
Besides the imaginary words he is saying that morimoto is less quality than alpharex although alphapha is running 4 projectors rather then 2 on morimoto that's not even a fair comparison how about you get lights with equal amounts of projectors then compare them, you guys are clowns lol
🤡🤡🤡🤡🤡
Can you give me a text back I want to get the Alphrex but I wanna make sure I’m getting the right one. I want to make sure the deal are on top and bottom. And they sequence like theses
How much did Alpharex pay y’all for this review!?!?
$0
I think morimoto you can see further in the distance while nova has more foreground, but idk only a true lux comparison can tell
Exactly what I was thinking. The video clearly shows the MM casting light further down the road, where as the AR has a ton of light right up close. Honestly if I had to choose one or the other, it would be a tough choice. They’re both great headlights.
Looks like your alignment is a little off lol. It looks like you stacked the cutoffs instead of aligning them side by side. The Morimoto's were better aligned.
Hey man what was the end result for this? Did you keep the alpharex headlights on or switch them out for the morimotos again? Kinda getting bored of the morimotos was hoping for a follow up before switching them out.
My heart overruled my brain but made a deal with my brain to buy the Morimoto 4banger hxb for my fog lights (4Runner) to make up for some suboptimal headlights for optimal fog light, where it really matters most to have the best (technically)….for the Baja Design folks, fret not. My project is only half complete. I’ll add the amber S8 or Onyx in my c4 bumper.
Sorry.. i do see that Alpharex has a lot more light.. but it looks like a mess of light. Almost to where it would impede your distance.. The pattern is just a mess.. yes the headlight looks good.. but I’m not convinced that brighter is necessarily better.. it has to be focused and useful.
Gen 1 or gen 2 morimotos? I know the gen 2s are much better than the gen 1s
Morimotos = light punch down the road
Alpharex = wider brighter short range
Imo, Xb with done good fogs
im guessing there is a sponsor or kickback from alpharex. Could be wrong.
Both sets were purchased. Didn’t get paid a dime
@@JWMontoya How come you only linked to the alpharex and put on such a show of promoting them? You aren't actors so it's really obvious. It's fine if you're getting affiliate or paid per click, in fact your subs would be happy for you to get sponsors. But your own testing shows it's obvious that the Morimotos have a much superior light pattern, the alpharex are throwing all the light about 20 feet in front of the truck vs the MM projecting it down the road where you need to see.
The issue I see is the angles are different between the comparisons. Also the Morimoto's seem like they throw farther then the AlphaREX. The AlphaPREX look brighter just off the bumper but don't seem to throw the light as far.
The alpharex lights are 🔥 definitely worth every penny, miromotos mehhh.. what a nasty comparison video fellas 😂 so disgusting bro
Your link on Amazon goes to a GMC headlight
So the morimoto throw a longer beam on low beam but the rex throw a shorter more dispersed beam closer. I wonder if the highbeams change anything
Sesquential lol
Hey guys just wanna ask if the 2018 luxx series jetblack will fit my 2019 warlock??
Not a good comparison. One light has what 4 projectors? The other two. Obviously the one with more will be brighter. Morimotos are bad a$$
It's simply comparing 2 different headlights, not whether if it's got 4 or 2 cubes
The original one is better
I have the Alpharex Nova series for my 2015 Ram1500, and I personally like them,, only thing I would recommend getting along side with it is and AlphaOBD chip to prevent your led lights from flickering due to a change from using regular bulbs to led , which uses less power.
Also, only 2015s need em
What fuse did you tap into for the drl? Or what website can I reference
Did you find it? If not it's #66
I'm not digging the 4 bulb lineup but I'm tossing the idea around to either get morimoto or the alpharex 09-18 ram 1500 pro series
Update:::: i bought Alpharex Pro G2 headlights very pleased with them
Yours aren’t as bright because when the lights are on the strip dims down but on drl they are at full brightness
What do you mean? We did the DRL
His talking about your truck. You mentioned they aren’t bright. I had same issue once you do a direct tap to a fuse and only run the DRL the light output is way better you will know they are on. Great content by the way.
The beam pattern on both morimoto and alpharex are not aligned properly.
Finally someone else noticed!
Where did you get these? The website only states the dlr is only in the top section of the light
Bro. I’ve a question far from the lights, about the radiator: I need the brand name please. Btw congratulations for your new alpha Rex lights
Is he selling the morinotos? I’d love to buy em off him if so!!!
The Nova lights look really good and seem to have better light than the Morimotos. What is the long term review of these lights?
What fuse did you use? And what fuse tap did you use? I was told to use f66 but it doesn’t do anything for me.
Bottom is the Alpharex. I’m waiting to get my AlphaRex tail lights for my 2008 GMC Sierra Denali, I can’t wait. I’m getting the AlphaRex Luxx tail lights the Alpha-Black LED series. I can’t wait to get them.
Morimoto headlights for the 4th gen Ram truck are proven to be a brighter and wider shining light than the Alpharex. You must have been paid by Alpharex 😂
Whats the SKU# for the Alpharex?
I have the morimotos and they’re terrible, pissed off that they made them sound like the brightest things ever made, waste of money
Joe Magnum Well the Alpha Rex nova’s are the way to go for sure definitely blew my mind
Yeah they look super bright
Thanks guys, I was down to these two LED headlights replacement for 15 Toyota 4Runner Limited, I bet you can guess which one I am going with. FYI as a drone pilot myself love the drone shots.
I think the video guy made a mistake when shooting this video, the auto brightness looks on, check the other lights in some scene's looks brighter than itself in the versus scene, so tI think there is some unfair comaprison here, next time please be sure the setting in the camera sets manually the same, specially iso, aperature, shutter speed is the same for both compare.
Are you confusing Lumens with luxx? When I called the manufacturer of alpharex they told me that they were 2200 luxx and that they didn't rate them in Lumens. 2200 Lumens is not very bright at all. My factory light assemblies with LED replacement bulbs are 10,000 / bulb. Just to give you an idea of what bright lumens are. Great video!
Alpharex turn signal sequential light is just not as crisp as morimoto idk if it’s just the camera but Morimoto seems nicer to me
That is disgusting! 😂
Awesome headlights man how do I find those exact ones ? I can't find them on the website is it the jet black or Alpha black
I only going the dual projector alpha Rex can’t find quad
@@ajrome1074 I did the Alpha Rex black on mine their pretty bad ass
Bought a set of 5th gen style Nova's for my '17 Ram 2500. I really like the lights. Except, with the lights on I get a parking light out error when I activate either turn signal. I contacted Alpharex and haven't received a reply. Seems to be quite common with Alpharex customer service. While they indeed look cool, I'm thinking I should have gone with Morimoto. I've always had good luck with their customer service.
The alpharex pro are $439 for my f150 but the Alpharex Novas are $1,145 just to have the activation sequence, i don't know if an extra $700 is worth to have that feature...
I just bout these as well. Did you all have any issues with parking light warnings when using turn signals with lights on?
I just installed the Novas and that’s the issue I’m having. Even when I used AlfaOBD and set them to LED
I'm having the same issue
I’ve been meaning to purchase the alpharex nova. Can’t believe this video exists! It sticks because on my 2017 3500 I added the morimito 35k hids.I feel like the stick projectors aren’t wide enough. In the birds eye Jew at night the Alpharex, has less road width light up and made the same “straight one path” my stock Ram projectors make. Whereas the Morimito was dimmer, but had a wider display of the road. Did you guys see that??? By the way these remind me of the Acura MDX lights which look insane bright on the road.
You’re right about Mori moto covering more but dimmer overall. In real life application, we liked alpharex better
@@JWMontoya was this comparison against the morimoto gen 2?
Your adjustment is wrong, lower part before the step should be on the same height for both headlights. In other words; your passenger side headlight is aimed too high
are you going to show the 5 gen lights from alpharex on a 4th gen
I currently have stock quad holengen reflective headlights with supernova v4 LED's but I'm wanting to change the housing up
Had mine for 2 years. It's a nightmare. Bad wiring connection for f150. I do not recommend.
I've had to replace the Morimoto headlights 4x and they're still shit. That alone is worth it's weight in gold
I have been tossing the idea between the luxx series and the nova series. Just shy of 1k for some lights just scare me. Luxx little over 600. Dont know what direction to go
Your video actually shows that the Morimoto lights are better than the Alpharex lights. The Alpharex make the immediate foreground brighter which fools you into thinking they are better, but if you look at the footage, the morimoto's cast light further.
It’s hard to tell with these guys which is better or not. We don’t know how they aimed the morimotos and I can see the aim on the alphas isn’t the best. I would have liked to see them pull 2” from a wall and marked the cutoff and hotspot. Then pull back 25’ perfectly straight on level road, set cutoff 2” below line with only a double step. Most of the videos guys are so worried about the look of the light and the drl that they forget it’s main purpose. I’d rather spend 99% my effort of aim. Just me tho. So I would t just count the alphas out yet.
Not sure why people like morimoto drl. They remind me of the White Xmas light rope that you wrap around the base of a tree.
I know this video is a couple years old, but my nitpick with this isn't an apple to apple to test rather an apple to orange test. You're comparing a two led projector housing to a housing with 4-3D led cube projector housing (I know only 3 are low beam). Rather the better comparison would be the Alpharex Luxx led series (dual projector housing) to the Morimoto dual projector. And before anyone says anything, I have a 2005 dodge ram 2500 5.9 Cummins. So finding proper legal led projector headlights are literal pain in the ass to find and unless I go to Primo Dynamic Lighting or something that does custom pre built headlights that'll cost an arm & a leg, it's to the cheapo projector headlights that aren't worth a fart in a southern church.
We were comparing what we had unfortunately
Any video’s on the best tail lights for a ram?
Gah...i wish the alpharex for the silverado looked even half that good....they look like poo they way they are designed....
Could you give an update, on how they perform during the rain?
Y’all need to update us with a long term review. How are they holding up? Any fading? Issues?
Wow you totally mispronounced sequential 😂😂😂
alpharex has really bad customers reviews...not worth it.
Any long term updates on these? Other videos are reporting issues sift these.
My low bean keep turning off and on don’t know what’s the problem
Looking to get rid of of those XB headlights by any chance 👀🤔
I have a pair. Barely used for Tundra.
Are the lights standard that icy blue color it is it the led you place in it
I'm trying to tap into my fuse box on a 13 2500 what one should I go into? Should I still just the Bluetooth one?
Those lights better come double bagged for a thousand dollars a pair lol
It's plain to see that the morimotos are better quality lights
I think the Morimoto is wider and shines further, just not that intense light right in front of the truck.
Montana wild it does go further and wider yes. Alpha seems brighter because of the high foreground lighting
@@R6_Nitty I just wonder if that super bright foreground light will make it easier or harder to seeing certain situations.
Montana wild it depends on where the object is or situation. At distance it will be harder but if it’s close usually it’s already to late by the time you react etc. I’m a width kinda person. So between the morimoto xb head and the xb fogs I can see an extensive amount at 160-170 degrees from my truck. They’re both extremely wide beam patterns.
@@R6_Nitty I think I would still take the Morimoto headlights with some morimoto foglights.
Even if the alpharex are brighter in the immediate foreground
I have the alpharex Nova for my 09 ram but mine doesn't do that sequential turn on or turn signal. Is there a button or configuration I need to do, thanks
Great video, Son. Very well put together.
I just bought a '22 Ram 2500, looking for improvement over the stock halogen, and y'all are giving me great direction on where to look... thanks!
Which model has those white drls on top and bottom?
Is led bulb replaceable in either one of them?
I need the close in bright light more than distance.
Personally tired of replacing rex switchback boards
Just got mine out into the truck today can't wait for night
A year later how does the rex working out ? Moto had the burn issue on the v1 but came out with v2 that fixed that issue
Don't buy it. I had mines for 3 years. Had to replace it 3 times. Pretty bad quality wiring. Loose fuse box components, the connections didn't fit well with my f150.
Beautiful homes in the back
Sequential…not sessssquential 🤪🤣🤣
You have 2 bulbs per housing for the low beam so yes it will be brighter
Adjusting headlights on BUSHES always works...
We only use bushes
I love the Alphabet Rex Nova. I want the same ones you showed in the video, and wanted to make sure I’m getting the right ones
Did you test the brights? Did I miss it?
Are these Gen 1 or Gen 2 Morimoto's?
Any issues with the alpha Rex??
Nova headlights are better aligned horizontally. By the way, you guys need to raise the left low beam or lower the right side.
