Thank you so much for the lovely review - you made my day! I'm really glad that you enjoyed the book. Wishing you the very best ~ Daisy
Your book is one of THE best I have read regarding this subject matter. Thank you so much for writing a book that was clear and to the point, easy to understand, and gives us all a sense of empowerment. You took the "scary and intimidating" out of preparedness. You did a fantastic job!
People's perception of preppers pantries has changed dramatically in the last 6 months. Even my husband doesn't give me grief anymore on my stocking. Now I just have to reorganize things to accommodate it as I've been taking advantage of his new attitude since we have lacked nothing thru all of this craziness because I was stocked!
Nice!!!!! Sometimes it takes an emergency to really appreciate the value of a pantry. I found some holes in mine that I needed to shore up. If this pandemic did nothing else, it lit a fire under some of us to get things in order. ❤️👍🏻
That was one of the first things I said to my husband- no one will ever make fun of preppers again.
All my children are grown, but I cannot tell you how many times I've heard one of them say, "Mom's pantry is like going to the grocery store!" Personally, I could care less what people think of me, or say to me about my stocked pantry. At least I didn't have to look for toilet paper when there was none!! Keep it up, girl, I really like your channel.
thanks Rosette!!!! No sweeter words have ever been spoken! I didn't have to run out for anything either. Such a blessing. Best insurance policy there is. ❤️
Amen!
@@TheKneadyHomesteader Amen!
Same with mine! :D Dontcha love it though!??
My husband joked about my stash of toilet paper. He doesn't anymore! I just ran out after 5 months and guess what? It's back on the shelves! I'm restocking now.
I had to smile (at myself) when this pandemic started and the grocery store shelves were empty. 3 years ago, I looked around the kitchen and said that we needed more pantry space. Yes, I had one of those floor to ceiling pull out shelf units, but they couldn't handle the weight of the cans, so we cleaned out the closet in the laundry room and put shelves in there. We also got a hang on the door rack which let us hold even more cans. I then cleaned out the coat closet in the living room and stored all my canning (canners and juicer/steamer, etc.) and food prep items, (food processors, dehydrator, etc.) in there on shelves. We also have a basement where I can keep extras that won't fit in the pantry and shelves that hold my home canned food and empty jars and more supplies. I'm actually having FUN finding recipes that use the items I have in my pantry. It's kind of like a game and sometimes I never know what I'm going to come up with to eat that week. My husband tends to favor the "simple" recipes and meals rather than "fancy" dishes that can be a pain to make as far as ingredients and time go. Sometimes I'll make enough of a dish that it will last us for two meals or he will take it for his lunch at work the next day. The only problem we've incurred is the high price of meat - so we've had to scale that back a bit. But other than that, we really haven't "suffered" grocery wise in this pandemic. I did purchase the book. Can't wait to go through it. I'm pushing 72 this year and my motto is "you're never too old to learn new things." I make it mandatory to learn at least one new thing every day!
Kris, I loved reading that!!!!! Blessings to you!🥰
Thinking of you this morning
I love Daisy Luther! You can find her at The Organic Prepper!
oh THANK YOU!!!!!!
Daisy Luther has some other great books as well. The Prepper’s Water
Survival Guide is one.
We had a hurricane hit our area a few years back. My husband kind of dropped the ball and did not get the ice and the charcoal that was available before the hurricane. He also did not buy a lot of the food items I asked him to get when he went shopping the day before the hurricane hit. He thought I was being a little bit silly. Long story short we were one of the few people whose power was out for over a week. Other neighbors close by had power and we did not. Just a small portion of our neighborhood was out. No fire department, no city, no county, no fema, helped us. We just sat in the dark in the oppressive heat roasting waiting for them to turn the electricity back on. If it wasn’t for the fact that our deep freezer worked like a refrigerator for us we would have been sunk. Never ever ever again will I allow myself to be in a position like that. I am now prepared. And believe me it could happen to you.
Praying for you.
I learned about prepping from Daisy on her blog long ago. Her books and advice is spot on. She has a variety of past experiences which also inform her opinions. All of her books and articles are informative. I'm glad you found her book, and, have let others know about it. I love your channel, with all your love, and, advice. Please keep at it!
I just marvel at how people call it hoarding now when our grandmas all did this without fail! They couldn’t just run to the market several times a week! They didn’t have endless supply of produce that was shipped from all over the world/country! I plan on buying this book thanks!! :)
I can't wait to get this book in my hands. My family thinks I'm crazy for being prepared. Honestly I could care less what anyone thinks about it because during all the craziness...guess who didn't have to scramble like a dummy to get TP. ME! We were able to live comfortably and not have to go to the grocery store for anything.
This is a great book.
I'm establishing both grandma pantry and bunker pantry. I'm using many sale shopper techniques to build it.
I had started before C19. I was thinking hurricane season and a week w/o power. When C19 was first mentioned in the news in early, I went into high gear. I had such a headstart. No panic. No standing in line. I had even gotten masks, gloves and various sanitizers.
Watch and listen to the world around you. We must each see potential threats and know who we need to protect.
Great recommendation! I bought the kindle edition!
Praying you and your family UP, sweet Heather!
I have so much respect for people who have well stock pantries especially with what's going on today. I am not a canner but I do my best to try and look ahead. I wish I had more time to can but because of what is going on with the covid19, my focuses are elsewhere. Thank you so much Heather ❤
i think all of us wish we could do more on some level. ❤️ I think especially those with children should really consider having a well stocked pantry. The times we are living in right now are unprecedented. with governors locking back down states, I am preparing for another long lockdown at home. My pantry is my security blanket.
I've always kept a well stocked pantry, at least I thought I did. After this pandemic my pantry is being built up differently. I need that book!!! ❤️
Continuing to watch your playlist.
I don't do a bunker pantry, nothing in mylar or any of that. The year long rotating pantry though, that is my peace of mind. When things started shutting down, I didn't go to the store for almost 6 weeks, and I just have had to start buying toilet paper. We did decide to grow luffa this year, just in case! ;) The truth of the matter is, I work hard in my garden, and I want to preserve that. I live far from town, so I don't have the luxury of running to the store every time something runs out. Let's not forget, I was raised by my great-grandparents and they instilled a lot of depression era common sense in me. Sorry, I feel like that was almost a rant! Thanks for sharing about this book. I think I will order a copy, because we can always learn new things from someone else's perspective.
That’s great! I love having it to hold in my hand as well, you never know when you won’t be able to look it up on the computer
I've been watching you since you began canning, stocking and building your pantry. I don't care how many times I say it. Your first grape jelly video was what taught me to can properly and now I've done everything except meat. That's my next learning session. During the pandemic, I was not worried about anything. I cleaned out shelves, cabinets and a closet to store my canned goods. I even have a small garden on my patio with peppers and herbs to dehydrate for winter. I can go for at least a month without having to go shopping if need be. You're absolutely right. It is an insurance policy. It pays me back every time I open a jar.
Thank you! Just bought the book due to your newest video and the fact you specify the book and your view of it is not about fear prepping. 💜
you will love this book! You have to come back and let me know your thoughts once you have had a chance to read it. I look forward to hearing your thoughts!
@@TheKneadyHomesteader Thank you and bless you… truly. I even feel Matt’s last gift to his family was enjoying your interest and supporting it. Kind of like his soul got to help his family in 3D one last… and VERY important/challenging time. Thanks for all you do throughout the years here! Sincerest love and gratitude to you 💜
Thanks yes i gonna get the book...sounds good...💚...Michelle Horse Creek... Australia
You are such a joy in this life! I just ordered the book based on your recommendation! Keep on shining! You and your family are loved!
Thank you so much!! Make sure you come back and let me know your thoughts once you have had time to read it!!!!
Thank you for sharing important information. In times like this we all need to start thinking this way.
Great video!! We've always had extra, and stocked up on sale items. Three years ago we got serious. Got chickens. We started gardening. Learned how to can and dehydrate and turned a small 9x10 room into a working pantry (Thank You Heather!!) Then we went further. Extended the medicine cabinet. Cleaning supplies. Kitchen essentials. Toiletries. Lighting. Cooking sources. I won't apologize for preparing!!! Preppers aren't going out and hoarding...We already have what we need everyone else is just trying to catch up.
Even a bunker pantry wants rotation. Most people decide on how many year's worth they can reasonably keep, and each year use the oldest and seal up a new batch. I don't have room or a place with the required temps, although I did buy 20 lbs of pinto beans for $4. Have canned some of them.
My dad was a prepper, had a composting toilet, windmill, water collection, you name it. Shame he didn't live long enough to be vindicated for the massive stash of TP he had :) I actually still have some of it, it's emergency use.
I'm always surprised when people don't have any sort of pantry, like they buy pasta when they want to cook it. My next canning project is to make some of your onion broth. I'm thinking to do onion, carrot, and celery also. That seems like it would be handy.
Love your vids, love you ❤️. Thanks so much for sharing and doing all you do!
I put that book in my Amazon cart and am just waiting to pull the trigger. Have fun with your babies.
Great video. I started prepping a few years back and now of all times its welcomed and so may of those that talk about prepping are now understanding why. Thanks and have to get that book as well. All is important so much to have when money is tight and one thing you don't have to worry about. Thanks!!!
I believe she recommends brown rice for storage which I made the mistake of doing many years ago since I thought it more healthy. I have since learned that brown rice should not be stored more than 6 months. White basmati is recommended.
Liz, you might also want to consider storing "converted" rice. It has a better shelf-life than brown rice and is more nutritious than white rice. It also holds up well in casseroles and slow-cooked dishes :-)
I did not have the book but I ordered it on Amazon. Can't wait to read it. I am not a Prepper but when we retire next year I will have a small Walk-in pantry off my big kitchen. I will also be converting a floor to ceiling cabinet that held a Microwave with storage above and below. The Cabinet is really deep that I have to use a step stool to reach stuff in the back so want to convert it to another pantry area.
First id like to say...I really like your glasses..you look beautiful!
I have gone and ordered this book on Amazon..thank you so much for sharing this with us...Im a Single Mom to my 2 girls now so this will help me/ us out especially since I'm not receiving any Child Support and we are going thru this COVID 19 mess....You are truly an inspirational and motivation to me...I adore you!
Ok. I'm getting this! thank you for sharing. I really don't care what others say but I didn't have to run crazy at the store for the past couple of months and that was comforting. Thx Heather!
extremely comforting and humbling. i felt so lucky and blessed to be in a position where I didn't have to run out in a panic. I stayed sheltered at hone for 7 weeks straight and we were good. ❤️
I learned to prep years ago from the great teachers like you and Linda's pantry, Mandi, Sutton's daize. All of you great teachers. I have been canning and preparing for 5 years now. Best security ever!
Great video! Yes! A well stocked pantry + other essentials is great peace of mind. Thanks for this video and book review. God bless.
Thank you! I am new to prepping and I am about to learn how to can. I will get this book!
Yay!!!! Happy Canning, you will love this book!
I actually looked at that book on Amazon when I was shopping for my Amish book as well as the canning/preserving one. I ALMOST put it in the cart but didn't. Thank you for reviewing it and letting me (us) know what is in it before I buy it. :)
😆 you know I sat there and said, you aren't shopping for pantry books, Heather! 😆 but i threw it in my cart anyways because it peaked my interest. i had to!!! i am so glad i did.
@@TheKneadyHomesteader Btw, its IN the cart...waiting to be purchased at some point. LOL
Looking forward to this book. Thanks. I have been stocking up food and bathroom goods and was happy to know that we were in decent shape during this pandemic. It feels good to know you have things available when you need them.

Such a great book. I have added a walk in pantry a few years ago and I love it. My children said it's like going to the grocery store. It saves so much money and I dont have to go to the store so often for big hauls. Thanks for posting about this book.
thats exactly how to do it! 😆👍🏻 my older boys call my pantry the war room. 😆
I just ordered it! Thanks for sharing! Have a good week! ❤️🦋❤️
Thanks so much! Ordered it!

Thank you for the recommendation. I have ordered this book and cannot wait to sit and binge read. Great video 👍
Happy Friday
This is exactly what I need in my life! Thank you so much!
What canning lids do you use and where do you buy them?
Love daisy luther! She has several good books
Thank's so very much Heather. I Absolutely LOVE your video's! I do value your opinion very much. I can alway's improve, example: learning from you how to make my own pancake mix, making my own brown sugar and I ordered my gallon jug of Molasses on Amazon, so now I'm ready to make more. I Absolutely Love your video's and I'm never too old to learn! Thank you so much. I'm gonna get the book. Much Love to you and your family and everyone here. 💜💜💜
thanks Barb 🥰 so many blessings to you and your family!
@@TheKneadyHomesteader Your so welcome and Thank you so much. 💜💜💜
Thank you for sharing this information, I also hate food waste! I’ll have to check my local library and see if they have this book
U have a library open near u? Ours are still closed here in Nevada statewide. I'm jealous 😭
Oh Heather I just ordered this book! Can not wait for it to get here! I have been pantry building but I have been flying my the seat of my pants! I am hoping this will give me some great organization!
Ok I’am sold ordered one thanks for the outline 👍
I've been called a freak or a weirdo because I always tried to keep a 2 to 4 month supply of food on hand for just in case a pay check didn't hit or something. We've also been in a position to where we didn't have and couldn't afford this or that for groceries. Now I just don't tell anyone. Yeah I look like a hoarder with some things but I don't care. I've got to get a handle on a few things getting organized again to make room for what I've canned and bought.
Thank you just ordered.
Thank you for the link. I am partly starting new in a new home, but didn’t expect Covid. Thankfully, we managed well, but I was alarmed to see empty shelves or out-of-stock showing with online ordering. I need a good resource to help me focus and organize.
it is STILL difficult to find toilet paper where I live. what are we now, 5 months in? and still she shelves are empty. It's been an eye opening experience!
I just order it! Be here Tuesday; $13.19
Thanks for this review, Heather. I bought my copy of 'The Prepper's Pantry' last March, but have yet to go through the whole book...I've kind of focused on the recipe section. :-D But I do feel that it is definitely a valuable addition to my prepping reference library. Prepping is a way of life for my husband and I and we can't wait to start preserving the harvest we'll get from our huge garden this year. :-D
I ordered the book and waiting for it to arrive. 😉
let me know what you think!!!!
@@TheKneadyHomesteader I finally received my copy today. I love it. It has a lot of great information. Can't wait to start reading and implementing it. Thank you for recommending the "Prepper's Pantry".
You know my grown kids have never understood my stockpiling pantry, or why I was a extreme couponer for 2 almost 3 yrs.. Although they did think it was cool I got stuff for free or pennies on the dollar.
Well they finally understood when all this ridiculousness started, So the mama and grandmama had a pantry and stockpile enough to feed a family of 6 and 2 different households. So while everybody was going crazy in the stores hoarding toilet paper paper towels and hand sanitizer hand soap and laundry soap all that stuff my grown kids just came to my house..
But I was raised by a single mother and I remember times when there was barely anything in the house to eat and my mother would go hungry So I could eat as a child.. And after I lost my husband when my children were young I went through the same thing with my kids,
There were days when I would go hungry making sure my kids ate.. Once I started driving truck I made sure My pantry and freezers were never empty again..
My grown kids are 35 of 37 now and 3 grandboys... But when my kids were little I feed my small family of 3 on $25 a week .
I still only feed my family of 6 on $200 a month.. My skills of being raised by a Southern mama.... budget budget budget..
