Dial up my number now
Weaving it through the wire
Switch me on, turn me up
Don't want it baudelaire
Just glitter lust
Switch me on, turn me up
I want to touch you
You're just made for love
I need la la la la la la
I need ooh la la la la
I need la la la la la la
I need ooh la la la la
Coils up and round me
Teasing your poetry
Switch me on, turn me up

I need ooh la la la la
I need la la la la la la
I need ooh la la la la
I need la la la la la la
I need ooh la la la la
I need la la la la la la

You know I walk for days
I wanna waste some time
You wanna be so mean
You know I love to watch
I wanna love some more
It'll never be the same
A broken heel like a heart
I'll never walk again
Yeah!

this woman is another level, its like 60, 70, 80, 90 and 2000's are together here
haha so true. She is absolutely incredible
You could stretch it even further to the 20's
Will Macdonald Her fashion sense is reminiscent of the 20's, like that hat for instance...
It all seems very Biba (that was '1970s do the 1920s') and given the sound is quite glam rock, I reckon that was what Goldfrapp were going for, with this video.
yup
This video is more than 10 years old and still feels ahead of its time.
fouroverseven
Ditto
Timeless
It sounds kinda boring now tbh. Loved it when it came out but it’s a really simple, repetitive song.
i would like to reinstate all the offence. this is only ahead of its time if the person claiming that has no knowledge of anything more than a few years old and little sense of curiosity, and that would make them a person I think should be offended more often
I am 57. I rolled into costco gas, rolling in on my 10yr old BMW 740li, blazing this track. A fellow in his late 20s working there, leans into my window and says “who is this? It’s a great rip!”
Classic
why does your age matter? Are you saying you cant like this because of it?
I remember being around bikers... This sh always made me think of them. I have fond memories of them. I don't really. But kind of... If me at my worst was me at my worst, listen, I've seen worse 🙄... & I apologize to anyone & to myself for being entirely cringy. In my defense, what's a girl to do when it's reality at a bill but in a fog & u have no real direction bc hardly anyone took u there anyways & ure just kinda alone... And even tho I spent such a good fraction of my life there, I'd like to forget it ever happened. That was white ppl culture anyways, lol. I think they owned some very few urban places. Idk. Few I've worked at & I think only 1 tolerated me a little more. The most recent 1 had me dancing to Miley Cyrus. Not literally Miley Cyrus. It was a song about Miley Cyrus... Yeah. I was like 🥴 oh ok I c..
Someone saw the first cut of this video and said: "It's okay, but it could use a horse made of diamonds."
That idea brought to you by Cocaine!
Cocaine...the best idea ever!
@@ckelly19841 Cocaine, because if it had been Meth...the horse would have ridden her. And the stage would've been cleaned by faeries named Ralph...who weren't really faeries, just a homeless guy...with a toothbrush. And things.
Looks more like mirrors cut by diamonds
Buttstallion!
and we're all grateful
The perfect blend of Glam Rock and synthpop. Awesome
Hung up Madonna
She's bringing the most glorious Marlene Dietrich vibes
Anushka Fox too
She's also got the Alvin Stardust glove and other seventies themes.
I was thinking Garbo...
Nearly 16 years old and still sounds fantastic !
I wonder how much money Netflix paid them in order to start using this song in their documentary series. It was in HIGH. About the girls who got busted in Lima Peru
i'm 75. Never heard of her until i heard Impossible with Royksopp fairly recently. Now I never hear anything but her. Being 75 is not so bad.
Good stuff never die. there will be people who listens to this in 2100.
she looks older than that
Thank you Marc Bolan, David Bowie, Roxy Music, New York Dolls and Sweet for inspiring this great song and video. And of course "Spirit in the Sky" by Norman Greenbaum.
Pretty darn close to the original... like, "ripped off" close. Impressive thievery, though.
@@erinwright3351it samples it WITH permission
You Sir - know what you're talking about. Oh yes ❤
Don’t forget “La Grange” by ZZ Top
@@matthiasravencroft "La Grange" riffs is also taken from John Lee Hooker's "Boogie Chillun'".
I freaking love this. The spirit of T.Rex/Marc Bolan approves!
Absolutely!!
I never thought of Bolan up until now till I read this comment but now can imagine T-rex on totp in the '70s performing this.............
Yes definitely qll the mark Bolans vibes!!!
I really don’t see it. Do you have a specific song in mind? This has way more synths and bass than any T. rex song. It’s kind of a mix of genre
@@mariahspapaya quite obviously, it's not pure glam rock. but it has heavy glam rock undertones. like a lot of Goodfrapp's stuff, they "borrow" quite heavily from 70s and 80s music.
She’s back in the studio as of Spring 2021! I hope the next album is a dance extravaganza! She’s been posting a lot of disco and new wave classics on Instagram.
It was interesting. She should have been played a lot more. She got in at the right time with Gwen Stefani and Kylie’s X album.
You keep saying she. Theres also a man who co writes if not writes music for her.
@@follow-the-white-rabbit5015 All of their songs are composed jointly. Playing off one another while in the studio.
@@charliequinn_ yup that's what i said.
For anyone who doesn't realise, this video is a homage to 70's glam rock.
The T.Rex influence is palpable...
She should have married Marc Bolan. Beautiful couple.
More like 80s synth pop with those instruments & Simmons style drum pads. 70s was glam, sure but not in this way. Yes I’m old enough to remember it all. 🤨
@@normturner4849 is said 'homage to', not 'copy of'.
If you're old enough to remember the 70's, as I am, you'll remember those clothes and boots. Not to mention 'Don Powell' on the drums 😃
@@normturner4849 the comment is referring to the video
i cannot comprehend how this only has 12 million views, this is written in my bones
i was CERTAIN that this was a cultural touchstone for everyone
This song was in literally every movie and video game from 06-11
I think that it's played in Vegas at least that many times
It was right before UA-cam. But I even remember hearing her albums in cafes and restaurants in Boston. Head First stuff was wicked popular there and in NYC. I hope the next album is a dance extravaganza.
Great music, film and art should not be commercial
This album, especially this song was sampled in a bunch of commercials in I believe 2008-ish. Why do I remember? Last of my youth lol 😂❤️
Listening in 2020!!?? 🌠🎉🎆🎊🔥🔥
Right now
You know it
Seen in TV show Heroes season 1 episode 20 with SUPER HOT Ali Larter as stripper
Just awesome
Boom!
This band seems to be populated entirely by multiple Noel Fieldings.
Came to the comment section hoping to find this exact comment
Reminds me of the band The Sweet
😂🤣 facts
Akkk, your right, there is so many Noel's in this group! Mind you, he channels seventies glam rock really well!
Come on, the keyboard player on the left is clearly Keith Lemon!
I was fortunate enough to see Goldfrapp in concert in Seattle @ 5-6 years ago.
So good. Didn’t need any chemical help to be intoxicated by her sexy voice.
She has done wonderful things for the last 20 years or so. Bumped into her in 1989, yes.. I left an impression.... Best to Seattle, got friends there. 😉
She makes me feel sexy just by taking out the garbage
She makes me feel sexy just by taking out the garbage
The bass on this song is mad 🔥🔥🔥🔥
Am I the only one who came here because I just love Goldfrapp?
I found them from a stripper demo video I was watching. Not for any of the Magic Mike bullshit or whatever the fuck they're talking about.
kingofallwhites
Lmao
+Sebizzar no you most certainly are not...rest of these scrubs come from some unmitigated tripe
+Sebizzar Been listening to Goldfrapp since I was like 14 y old ;]
+G 4 Life G 4 Life Are you female or male?
One of the coolest songs ever. Still love it all these years later.
{*CLASSICALalalalala*}
this woman is fucking amazing
i never needed a Ooh La La before...but now im addicted to that stuff!
Yes means you better
This deserved to be a big hit.
The early 70’s were the absolute peak of pop music. Alison realised this, and came up with this absolute masterpiece. Genius😁😁
La grange ZZTop
I agree ! Not much can top the 70s music
Having been a teenager in that decade all I can say is "YOU HAVE GOTTA BE JOKING, the early 70's were appalling". if only it had been as good as this song.
@simonwoolgrove8773 amazing how different experiences can be.
I was a teenager in the 70s and loved every minute of that time.
If I could go back I'd do in the snap of my fingers.
I Love the glam rock band accompanying her. What a fun video.
Nice. It conjures up old memories of "Spirit in the Sky" by Norman Greenbaum (1969), which was a huge power-rock number on the radio when I was in my teens.
My thoughts when I first heard the Song.
It's a complete ripoff of it
@@MICAM66No, it SAMPLES it. There's a difference.
Canned Heat on the road again
@@wayneelliott7011 Yeah at first I thought it was a cover.
Still sounds great 16 years later, video is great. Aging well
The greatest 70's tribute ever.
This song fills my veins with glitter.
This woman must be a genius! The sound design is so smooth and seductive.
70's glam rock is back!
That disco ball horse is the greatest thing.
A unique sound, I love this band. Alison is all art

Goldfrapp is amazing!!! Listened to her 10 years ago and even her new stuff wipes the socks off of her old stuff. Amazing woman!!
This is Bloody brilliant live. the vibes and energy are epic!!!!
My original intro to Goldfrapp, I haven’t been the same since! It’s been a glorious ride
allison goldfrapp: a goddess who has chosen to incarnate on Earth
It's an amazing album. I still play it in 2020.
Genius is Goldfrapp. Goldfrapp is Genius. 👍
What a song!! Blow me away
I've a strangely sensation to remember:
"Spirit in the Sky" of "Norman Greenbaum"
Also a little feel of La grange from Zz top
And knock on wood
If you checked on wikipedia , they admit on a interview that they inspired this song from Spirit in the sky which most famous songs get inspired from . the bass lines and chords are among the famous that were always repeated by artist
Yh I thought so
The synth and filters used, yeah...
TOO OLD TO DIE YOUNG ❤️🙏🏻
@Jhon Sepulvedo It's the title of a tv show on amazon prime, in which this song was used
i just rediscovered this song today, after years.
still loving it 💖
Can’t believe Adele is going to sample this masterpiece😩 Its going to be a BOP
really???
@@aexscamera yuppp it is going to be in her new album
Major nod to the 70's...love it.
a real T Rex vibe. Great tune.

i love that they're very T.rex-esque..Marc Bolan would be pleased.rip.
+Mauricio im talking about this song and vid,not their full career
+MrJaimilly and a bit of early Roxy Music as well !
This is very Spirit in the Sky :P In the Rocket video she looks like the spitting image of Marc bolan :D
The band is ROCKING that 70s glam aesthetic, it's awesome.
This song has been stuck in my head for 7 years I can't forget it
Ce mélange d'art déco et de glam : intemporel!
1088 poor souls have never had any ooh la la
Planet of the Atheists ?
one of the greatest songs on planet earth
This takes me back! Still sounds better than most music today. Iconic!
Used to listen to this all the time in the early 2000's. Woke up this morning randomly singing it in my head... Thankfully I found it by searching "Bands that start with G".
I'm in love with those fringed pants.
That's what my sexy cousin said..
Larry when he dances to the song >>>>
streets saying adele is sampling this for her new album
18 years ago today Supernature was released, still as funky and fresh today 👌💝
Alison is fantastic
Go get the Goldfrapp albums - they are damn great
Got her own style too - ohh la la
I have Black Cherry, which I love. I bought Head First on the strength of Rocket and Alive, which are fantastic, but hated the rest of that album. Sorely tempted to buy this one, but is there anything good on it besides this track?
@@leonardfrankel8992 supernature is a masterpiece.buy it !!!
Modern Disco Masterpiece. Instant Classic.

"So this is the American Dream"

As a fan for over 12 years... Still holds up and I listen to the CD's in my old car and just JAM to this great sonic bliss!!!!!
This is my first Goldfrapp song I've heard and I can't get enough.

British POP. The Queen knows!!!!
Mad as a box of frogs and yet a work of complete genius at the same time. Thanks for all the good times Alison.
I LOVE the whole 70's façade😘
I only discovered Goldfrapp recently and had no idea this was one of their songs! Crazy because I've heard it play loads of times.
this is the song i was blasting on my radio when i realized the brakes in my car had suddenly stopped working. i safely ended up in a church parking lot. thank god for ooh la la
Perfect synchronicity and serendipity 💛

I phone 5s best ad for this song
The simplicity of the song makes this the perfect video. Absolutely a work of art.
If the 20's and the 70's had a child this would be the result.
Been looking for this for the past week, finally found it. I had that bass line in my head and the “i said ohh la la” 👌
First heard it in GTA IV
"Spirit in the sky" made this song famous.
