Being a 90s kid, dance music was at it's peek and we was blessed with some absolute classics. One song in particular though, has haunted me for years. I couldn't remember the name, the artist, a single lyric, questioned if it was even dance, questioned my own sanity if it was even real.
I would type all sorts of things into google. "Music video, laundry, doing make-up at club, sister". They were the only particles of information I could piece together from my childhood memory. This was a song I would have on repeat, all summer, but all these years of searching (and I do mean years of searching) had left me to believe I was just jigsawing together various different songs from distant memories and this was all made up...
... Until today.
Thank you for uploading this, restoring my sanity and restoring childhood memories of some of the greatest days of my life!
This was me right now. Googling various things with no luck, asked my friends if they remembered “the video of the really pretty French girl that goes to a club with her little sister, she wears a dress and she’s running along a dirt path from a guy” and they didn’t know what I was talking about. In the end, I searched “foreign songs that were in the UK charts in the 00’s” and a list came up. This was number 6.
I knew it was the one, as soon as I saw ‘alizee’

First of all, Alizee has talent. Otherwise even the great Myléne wouldn't be of any help here. Many girls tried to sing this song and it was a total failure. I remember those times very well. Mylenne and composer Laurent Boutonnat were looking for a talented girl. They found Alizee singing on a children's program.
Alizée inspired me to learn French, It has been hard to learn but I always listen to her music and now I can understand some words, I hope one day I can talk as a native french speaker.

I think i was looking for this song at least for 6 years.
Today it randomly appeared in video suggestions..
The problem is, i don't know French and i couldn't even remember the melody or the video at all.
I just knew that when i was a child, one foggy late afternoon in fall i sat in my father's car in front of the train station and waited for my mother who was about to arrive with the train.
This song played in the radio. And i was a huge fan of it. But i didn't share this one thing i liked by telling that i liked this song so much. It was my personal, private little home of sentiment.
So i looked around the streets that were getting dark, blue grey light, cool mist in the distance, and there stood a man with a coat and a hat and a suitcase, somewhere on the sidewalk, in between a row of pale pillars.
This one picture is burned deep inside my memory, together with the tones and beautiful language of this song.
Since then i always connected these two things so much that at times i thought the video included the picture and the impression, as i even didn't know the real video.
For years i have tried to reawake this special memory, relive this one moment again by listening to this song of my childhood. But whatever i tried, whoever i asked, wherever i searched for it, i couldn't find it anywhere.
Today, i was again trying, with little expectation, looking through the charts of 2000-2003, somewhere around there, looking at hundreds of song titles, but of course it wasn't there.
Literally on the last song of the playlist was a suggested video i hadn't yet been seing before in all those lists and without much expectation i clicked it, just to make sure and because i was curious.
And then, it happened - i heard those tunes again that i had thought i would never hear again!

@@glanni First heard her on DW TV if i recall correctly back in 2000 - on her debut interview, now... just IMAGINE how hard is it to find who she is, when there is no a slight information on the song title, nor the singer name.
I don't speak french then and now, and to make it even harder where i came from there were not a single soul knew who she is (or there is but never meet one), but with a lil' bit of persistence, i found Moi...Lolita on NAPSTER with my 56k dial-up modem (3.50Kb MAX)!
And yeah, it's still altavista that helps me with her picture and information to start my dig.
And there she was in my live from that time!!!

Beautiful girl with beautiful voice! As an Italian I think that the French is a very elegant language especially for singing. Unfortunately I can't catch nothing about she's singing 'cause I don't speak French but the song is very nice and a delice for the ears!

@@evastapaard7496 oh, really? I could try but I think that my English is still not good and I don't know nothing about the French. Maybe I should complete my English learning first and then to try some French. As an Italian the French language sounds like very elegant and smooth more than the Italian. I like the sound of the Dutch language too because it gives me a "sense of mystery" but for an Italian speaker to try to imitate the Dutch pronunciation is very hard.
@@mircorizza5609 haha! dutch sounds mysterious? never heard that before! personally I think it sounds hard, like a drunk German!(and vice versa) french sounds elegant to me too. Italian sounds passionate. English isn't hard to learn, they don't have the male/female part that so many other languages have. for me it was easy but that's because my first language is Frisian and I believe that's the closest language to English. My second language is Dutch. my first foreign language was German, after that came South Afrikaans, then English. so, mostly germanic languages. two years ago I started with French. the problem with French is that it uses a lot of letters that are silent. I can read french now but only if spoken very calmly I can understand so I still need to learn a lot. Italian is beautiful...the way you pronounce the 'r' is practically the same as we do. I like that. I learn fast if I listen and translate songs so perhaps I can speak Italian in a year. I love Italians and their culture. I've been there a few times and always felt welcome.
