Thanks Frank! - Have to do a presentation on the fly and deliver it today - didn't have time for PPT prep so discovered MS Whiteboard - Your video has enabled me to do what I need in Magic Whiteboard and then I think I can record it in PPT and it will have the casual feel it needs...
That is excellent news! The a whiteboard is really well suited to a dynamic presentation and I am very happy that this video was useful to you. Thank you so much for your comment!
Hello Frank, great video! Can you please elaborate on-camera feature? How do I make it just a square box instead of a big box of camera applications? Are the presentation and live feed from the camera supposed to be screen recorded? Thank you!
I’m planning on filming a new, complete Whiteboard tutorial soon. The camera is really just a way to add images to the whiteboard- it’s not really intended as a way to record and present at the same time - for that, using a tool such as Teams, Zoom, etc and sharing the Whiteboard is how you would present and record.
Would it be possible to have a transparent background? So that the window or app behind Whiteboard is visible, and you can draw on it? Do you know perhaps how could this be achieved? Thanks for great tips! Good video!
Hi sir may you clarify is there any issue in ms team for mcbook that are not complete feature unlike other brand like asus that using ms team? There are different in between or are they compatible if they are using different types of brand of computer?
It isn’t the brand of computer - but the Operating System that makes a difference. So ASUS, Toshiba, etc - if they are running Windows will all use the Whiteboard the same. Mac uses their own software - and the whiteboard App doesn’t work on it. I have a few videos where I show an alternative option for Mac users - checkout my video on HeyHi or on Sketchbook - these are what I use on my Mac.
I have a dell laptop with touchscreen. I have no problems writing with my touchscreen with either a generic stylus or my finger, but I noticed in the settings there is an option for an "active pen". When this setting is on, I cannot write with anything, but I assume that is so that when writing with the active pen a palm (or other part of the hand) doesn't write on the screen. I don't know what kind of active pen I can use, are they generic? I know of the surface pen and the Apple pen, but I have neither of those products. Does anybody know if I can use any active pen, or if there is a specific one that I need to get?
I had an HP with the same concept - the active pen (as far as I know) creates a little circuit between the tip of the pen and the screen - indicating where it is and then drawing at that location. If the DELL came with an active pen - that’s the one to use. Or, contact DELL and they can advise you on compatibility or sell you a pen. My HP came with a pen and when I lost it - I discovered they had a “hidden” second pen under a cover for n the bottom! I doubt anyone does that anymore though - seems like an add-on device to buy.
Question: Can pictures or images be attached to a sticky note such that they move with the sticky note rather than be a seperate image that must be moved independently?
@@LearningandTechnology Thanks. I watched ur other video on using lasso. That helped me understand how to move them. Wish we could make them a single object thus making it easier to move the notes around on the board.
If I post the whiteboard app to a team, would they be able to write on that whiteboard? I'm finding when I share my screen with the whiteboard app that students can not write on that screen without me giving them control. I am also unable to give control to all of my students because of the various devices they are using and it not being an option to give or request control on all devices. Any ideas?
Hi! Thanks for all the tips. My question is using this during a TEAMS meeting- will the students be able to collaborate/annotate on the screen like you can with the built in Whiteboard? If they can would they have to download the APP? Would they have to be invited or would the TEAMS link give them access? Thanks for all your help.
Can the whiteboard be accessed by the students when you're sharing a pdf doc for eg so that they will be able to write on it, eg fill in the blanks during a meeting?
When you are sharing in a Teams meeting - the student can request control and then is able to work with the Whiteboard. The other option is to share the whiteboard - I have a video on how to do that as well :)
You showing more abilities (e.g. BING images) in the insert menu as I have in the Whiteboard App. Do you have a clue why? - Its about the account you are using!? I have installed version 20.11020

I have a little drawing tablet that lets me use a stylus :). I have a video on that as well as one on how to use an iPad with an Apple Pencil and Whiteboard
I noticed you say you use a tablet and pen during your presentations. I am new to tablet use but I cannot seem to get the tablet/pen to select objects that are drawn and move them (it just draws) . Also, if I put the ruler on the screen using the tablet/pen I cannot change the angle of the ruler. I can use the mouse sometimes and the tablet/pen other times and that works but it does not seem that is what you are doing. I fooled with the active pen setting but this setting automatically changes to enabled when I put my pen tip on the tablet. What is escaping my understanding?
Bruce Schreiner The term tablet has become a bit confusing these days - are you using a drawing tablet? Or a tablet like an Android or iPad? I use a Wacom drawing tablet - so I may have been confusing the issue. Let me know what type you are using and we can figure things out for sure.
Bruce Schreiner ah! Okay - this may be because the Whiteboard has 2 different “modes” at the bottom. In the video - you can see that when I draw I am in “pen” mode - the bottom has the pens shown. Then, you have to tap the little switch icon on the left of the pens to go into “select” mode - this lets you move objects and insert things like stickers, images, and such. I make that mistake a lot - I go to move something - only to have it draw a line :). Then, I have to click undo and go into select mode.
Learning and Technology I see these mode options in your videos and I also have those options available to me when using the mouse with the active pen selection disabled. My problem is when I touch the pen tip to the drawing tablet it automatically switches to active pen mode enabled and the options to switch back and forth no longer appear on the left of the menus on the bottom of the screen. I saw Microsoft talk about option settings for Windows Ink mode (the automatic switch to drawing mode) for Office apps like Word, . . . I went to the driver settings for my drawing tablet and found and option called Enable Windows Ink checked and when I unchecked this it stopped the automatic switching to active pen in Whiteboard and allowed me to choose which mode I wanted. Problem solved! I am a left hander that has always used the mouse in my right hand so having both drawing tablet pen in my left hand and mouse in my right hand was a fairly natural work-around for me but the mouse pointers for each were always fighting each other.
James Lindon there are two reasons why this may happen: 1) you need to be using the full version of Whiteboard - the one you download, not the one built into Teams 2) under settings, you need to have “Enable Connected Experiences” to “on”. I’ll do a quick video for you showing how - give me 10 minutes
