  • The newest Canadian IMP is lighter in weight, yet packs in just as many calories as ever. This Pulled Pork, menu #12 is absolutely fantastic. With 39 grams of protein to the main course, it's very sustaining and truly delectable in it's quality. Gotta say, this is a menu worth looking for!
Currently editing an exciting review of a never before filmed US survival ration from 1957. So stay tuned for that. Had to eat a little something normal for in between, so for the folks out there who like their food a bit fresher, this one's for you. Alright cool, see ya.

The fact that he never talks about UA-cam or addresses the audience in his videos (except for the part at the end where he says he hoped you liked it). As a Canadian Military member I can probably say without a doubt the FRH’s are issued separately for cost reduction on the rations themselves. We don’t use the FRHs very often especially in training situations. We use a Coleman stove with a pressure cooker, your able to heat your entire sections meals or at least a group of peoples rations all at once. That is at least why I believe we still issue them separately.

The reason we generally don't have or let us be real don't use the FRHs is we have a Colman stove with either a pressure cooker or pot of water when we have these. And if you're on patrol in the cold? You shove them in your jacket and they get warm on their own.

Turns out Hershey’s ditched the name ReeseSticks for the more conventional Reese’s naming convention of “Reese’s Sticks” in 2009, since most people pronounced it that way anyways. The Canadian forces issue rating cards to the troops with the rations so they can provide feedback. They actively incorporate feedback from soldiers when designing new ones so overall they REALLY put in the effort to make the IMPS good. I think for this reason I would rather be issued IMPs than MREs from the US. Some of my friends deliberately give bad ratings on good ration packs so the MOD doesn't get too complacent and keeps innovating them.

I was never in the Canadian army, but I did do Air cadets throughout my youth. we went on 5 weekend survival training exercises (deep bush, 3 summer, 2 winter) and these were always what we had to eat for meals. everyone got their own pack, but they took out all the main meals, and cooked them together in a big stock pot (Still in the packaging, obviously). so many good memories :D

Hey Steve, as a former Canadian Air cadet (107 spitfire anyone?) and lover of pulled pork this was an exciting one. I understand not including an FRH, they would heat them all in a large pot for our whole squadron. I don't recall particular loving any of the mains, my favorite was to toast the little loaf of bread over fire and eat with jam. I fondly remember trading the sports drink packets, with certain flavors such as watermelon and pineapple being highly coveted. Also the cardboard was nice to hold the meal when it's fresh out the boiler.

I could see how someone would think that napkin is a mint or a piece of gum. That would be pretty funny. I'm kind of surprised, actually, that they didn't print, "DO NOT EAT," all over it, like they do with those silica things that they put in jerky.

From my experience Steve, having the frh external to the ration is a good thing. There have been multiple times where the frh's go bad if they're too old. I remember sitting in the bag of a g-wagen eating a cold ration due to having old frhs. We were able to exchange the frhs out and had warm rations from there on out.

Canada issues the heaters separately because, strangely enough, many field units don't need them. Canada has a history of deploying a field kitchen type set up, that boils large "trays" of water, you drop your MRE in, draw off some hot water from a heater for coffee/tea... then pick your meal up. it was just more convenient for command units, artillery, and such... and rather then wasting tons of heaters... they limited it.
