One of the best memories I have growing up watching this with my late father

My parents sat on couches located at an angle to the TV such that I had to turn to my right to look at them. During Headlines with Leno I'd often turn around to investigate muted sounds to see Mom tearing up with a tissue from a well used Kleenex box at the corner lamp table. Dad was also so amused watching Mom crack up he too was dabbing his eyes.
Me? I was usually trying to keep on track with Jay's jokes while considering what a joke meant. Eventually I got faster on this kind of adult humor. Thank God Dad bought a TIVO. 😊

Andy Richter has persistent depressive disorder, meaning he is always mildly depressed and doesn't feel intense joy or euphoria.
Jim Carrey has ADHD and depression.
Bill Corbett of MST3K has depression.

When you say "he suffers from depression," that is misleading. That doesn't mean he is sad all of the time. Depression is a mind disease that causes a person to not be able to cope with the everyday pressures and stresses of life. Medications can help with depression.

WIlliams suffered from an extreme case of Lewy Body Dementia. And while it was not diagnosed until after his death, it is believed to be the reason for his extreme anxiety, depression, and paranoia. The doctors who performed the autopsy said it was one of the worst cases they had ever seen. He knew he had a brain disorder. He was degrading rapidly and did not want to get to the point where he no longer knew himself. There is no treatment for it.

Nobody knows how to make a catchy joke now. It's just mocking something, or acting stupid, or finding material that's already a joke from Facebook, UA-cam videos, Twitter. Jay always had a joke. He's get it set then deliver the punchline, and they were always creative, and even tying in more than one topic. Nobody can write a good joke now. It's just stupidity.

Conan is funny and he keeps politics out of his comedy for the most part and certainly no more than the scheming Jay Leno who took the Tonight Show from Conan. Conan was cheated by Leno just same as David Letterman was also twenty years previously, The big difference between Dave and Conan was NBC signed a contract with Conan that had them paying out severance pay. I do believe it was to the tune of $45 million and I'm sure Conan found some consolation when he looks at the deposit slip. His show on Fox is very funny and is the only late night show l watch.

@@MountainFisher Jay Leno had nothing to do with taking back the show from Conan, NBC started panicking after Conan took over because ratings were dropping severely. It was all NBC, they begged Jay to come back. NBC forced Conan out, these are facts. I'm a big fan of Jay and Conan both.

@@dropzone3415 Conan's ratings were fine until Leno's show killed the 10 o'clock spot and then Leno said he'd take the 11:30 spot and put Conan on after midnite. Leno was going to trash the Tonight Show and Conan wasn't having it. Letterman on his show put it all on Leno and I agree with David. Leno knew what he was doing and he did say he wouldn't screw Conan, but he did.

That's not really fair. The show has been on since 1954 and has only had six hosts. Each of them was very good or they wouldn't have lasted so long. They had different styles and formats but they were all entertaining. I've had the pleasure of seeing all the hosts starting with Steve Allen. Different issues accompanied each of them. Rarely did they do anything around politics and Johnny Carson never did. The guys they have now on various shows are very good but politics has become too big a part of their routine. I get politics all day long. If I put the tube on (which I rarely do) It's because I want to be entertained. I don'
t watch TV news because it lacks detail, that's why I read the Gray Lady.
