Umm Cell blew up. Regenerated in the vacuum of space 3x stronger in perfect form without Android 18 absorbed, learned instant transmission just from watching Goku. And immediately bodied Trunks. Yeah...Cell would’ve been waaay more of a problem in all categories then Frieza.
He was still able to absorb other people besides the androids as well. If he were to absorb goku in the tournament he would be unstoppable. But cell actually played it fair and wasnt actually as evil as people thought he was

Nope, Jiren isn't actually strong because of his race or something like that, he gain it all through training and advanced ki control, that's why he is seen meditating in the show, so we can perceive why he is actually that strong, and god ki for Goku and Vegeta isn't really something above others, it's just an advanced ki control, and with that, i believe the reason Goku was always so much ahead of Vegeta in dbz because Goku learned spirit control on Yardrat after Namek saga... If cell takes samples from jiren he would probably have minor gains, we saw in namek saga when captain ginyu took goku's body, how ki control actually makes a big difference in power.

Cell is an android which means unlimited stamina. Cells fight moves are better. Cell is made from some Saiyan DNA, therefore every time he's defeated, he gets stronger. His desire to fight would have been motivation to win. Cell can regenerate, use instant transmission.... He would have been better
Cell is organic he's not a machine so yea he does not have unlimited stamina like the other said go rewatch his fight with Gohan. And while he has a couple Saiyan cells he doesn't nearly have enough to have same impact as a real Saiyan after being beaten in a fight.

A reason I always felt why Cell would've been awesome for the tournament is is his ability to get to people. Sure, Frieza can do it to but not to the degree Cell can. He always finds a way to get to people psychologically and make them look weak in comparison to him.

So it's said that Freeza never trained in his life so when he started to train his powers, he managed to achieve his Golden Freeza form and is now obviously much stronger than Cell was. My problem with saying that Freeza is stronger than Cell in general is that Cell also never trained in his life. Who's to say if Cell wouldn't also get a lot stronger after training? Especially considering that he's made of Cells from Freeza and King Cold. Plus he has the Saiyan Cells which means he gets stronger after near death. Personally, I think that Cell has as much potential as freeza or maybe more.

Due to the “personality” cell would’ve made a better teammate due to having goku and vegetas cells, as well as having friezas cells he would easily be able to catch up with training.
Real reason: Budget. Cell is a lot more detailed to draw. Same reason SSJ3 is ditched. They could boost Cell's power real quick. Just look at Freeza in RoF. It is a shame though, I love Cell. With Buu around, he's the only villain to be brushed to the side. Could you imagine Cell and Freeza both being on the team? That'd be insane! But there would probably be too much menacing going on. You'd lose the impact of Freeza acting cryptically evil if Cell was doing the same thing over on the other side of the platform.

Frieza is more iconic and probably a better written character, Cell is also more of a loose canon, he would become more powerful faster and his ambitions would be unpredictable while with Frieza we know he will act in his own best interest.

Cell could have infinitely explode, regenerate and zenkai to reach SSJ2 and beyond with ease. He could have trained for 4 months to become golden Cell. He could use 5 cell juniors for the ritual to become a super saiyan god. He could create an artificial moon and become an un-revertible oozaru because his tail always regrows. I doubt anyone could stop Super Saiyan Golden Oozaru Super Perfect Cell (SSGSSGOSPC for short).

Cell would've been the better pick in my opinion because: 1. He has his Beetle type wings so he can still use flight ( the latest episode of super confirms if it's natural flight it's okay) 2. Frieza maybe stronger, but Cell does get a boost after losing a fight because of his Sayians cells so they could train him to get at least close to freiza Gold level. 3. He's smarter in terms of his techniques 4. It would be cool to see Cell and Gohan planning and fighting together and him saying stuff like (I want to fight this new Gohan) 5. 1. Cell has WAAAAAY more potential due to the fact that he is a product of Dr. Gero, he is part saiyan, namekian, and friezan. Cell has NEVER trained alive. Neither did frieza until frieza heard that goku beat the infamous buu. And frieza got his form in 4 months. 2. Cell could train in probably 1 month and be Super Saiyan Royal (gold and purple) Perfection Cell. He would be twice as powerful than frieza for being part saiyan, and saiyans naturally become stronger through conflict. 3. Look at the requirements to beat the dbz villains: frieza= super saiyan. Now it only takes super saiyan god kaioken (possibly not that far) Cell= the entire z fighters until goku went super saiyan to ascended then gohan with family kameha wave. Buu= all of the z fighters (yet again, lost) and then super saiyan 3 with spirit bomb. Now, it took super saiyan to beat frieza multiple times until resurrection of f. And goku held back in the movies. If cell trained, with the DNA of frieza goku and piccolo coursing through him, oh yeah, he would mac the shit out of golden frieza no problem. Point is: Cell has more potential, plus I'm tired of seeing frieza constantly fucking showing up when there are a couple of villains more capable than him.
I agree with you mostly except for the part where there are more villains that could have been used. Buu was reincarnated into Uub, everybody Namek and pre-Namek are way too weak, and movie villains aren't canon to the story. That pretty much leaves Cell, Dabura, and possibly Broly since LSSJ is confirmed to be a real form, but nobody in Super even knows that Broly exists/existed. Cell is pretty much the only viable candidate, but Toei doesn't really give a shit about him because "muh cells spots are too hard to animate".

Viscera Dude, Cell gave everyone a run for their money since he first showed up. Frieza got utterly destroyed by Goku in SS1 while Cell took on a whole crew of Super Saiyans, Androids, and the strongest humans. He has a lot more potential than Frieza does. Plus, he has more character.
Real reason why Cell wasn’t picked was because he’s a pain to draw with all of those black dots all over his body. The animators hate drawing him for that reason.

The story part is debatable though because Cell had more impact on Characters, because: - Absorbed Androids 17 and 18 - With that he absorbed Krillin’s love interest - Got to be the only villain in Dragon Ball Z to actually kill Goku - Possible mutual grudge between Cell and Gohan due to their final battle and events prior - Manipulated Vegeta and then humiliated him twice. Also Cell murdered his son, twice. - Whooped Piccolo’s belly. And last, but obviously not least! - ‘kiko how ya doing?’ So it makes eight out of nine fighters of Universe 7. Much more than Frieza because he never affected Tien or Androids.
Ok Frieza did that but its seems like they don't care about that, Goku doesn't care about bardock or planet vegeta and If vegeta still cared about frieza destroying his planet then why doesn't he wish to bring them back or think about it? . Vegeta hates frieza cause he hates frieza not cause frieza destroyed his planet. And we have seen Frieza a lot of times now and now that they brought Android 17 back think about the confrontation between them.
Why would vegeta want to revive his barbaric counterparts, especially at this point? He is proud to be a warrior race, but isnt so fond of his own history being the result of frieza treating his father like a puppet. And yes, vegeta does hate frieza for the genocide of his race, AND how the saiyans were blinded to the fact they were being fooled around with. This is why vegeta want’s so desperately to become different; He uses logic in fights instead of hurling ahead, and trains past his limit.

Aside from having one of the longest arc, he made an appearance in the buu arc, appearance in gogeta fusion reborn movie, has his own movie and had that movie made into a series in dbs. On top of his brothers movies who looked exactly like him.

Why do you keep saying Frieza is stronger than cell? He’s stronger because toriyama chose to bring him back. this is a what if scenario. if he decided to bring cell back he’d be the stronger one. You have to judge them at their power since we last saw them in Z. Which, from my recollection was cell.

Meaning if Cell was brought back instead of Frieza there would probably be a larger power gap due to being brought back on short notice (There was no time for training when they brought Frieza back, they only a had a short amount of time to get back to the group) and the fact that Cell hasn’t had a canon appearance since Z.

I think toriyama wanted to bring an enemy back so he chose frieza because logistically and iconically it makes sense. Toriyama does this a few times thru db...Piccolo, vegeta, some would say krillin, Yamaha, tien. There probably more just saying its not fair to compare cell and frieza power levels AFTER frieza got a movie with a huge power boost.

The power argument makes no sense. Cell was far more powerful than Freeza, before Freeza trained and became Golden Freeza. Let's not forget that Cell has the genes of Freeza and Super Saiyans. If Cell got the same amount of time to train, he'd easily be way more powerful than Golden Freeza.
If I recall right, the drones that gathered information for the cells of Cell were only on planet earth, they didn't see or know anything about the happenings on Namek. Remember how surprised Dr. Gero and C18 were when they first saw the Super Saiyan, cause they didn't know that form. Cell can learn every move, but if I get it right, he doesn't have any Genes of Freeza.
Oliver Scheele He does have Frieza and even King Cold's genes, IT IS a fact. Remember that both of them got to earth and where there for a short period of time before Trunks eliminated them. Cell was stronger than DBZ Frieza even in his imperfect form, given that he has both Goku's and Vegeta's genes alongside with those of Frieza and his father, he would've been way stronger than DBS Golden Frieza.
To be fair Frieza only got this strong by training since he's never trained before. Now think about it. Cell has Friezas DNA as well as Goku' s and every z warrior. So if Cell trained then he could potentially be more powerful than Frieza is right now. So imo Cell wins the power category.

I think Cells return would be more interesting if he was saved up for a final battle boss. Cell may not be a powerful threat now, but considering all the hidden potential he has, AND he can power up insanely fast! When the tournament of power is over, bringing Cell back THEN would be most unexpected and would give way to the most epic battle in Dragon Ball history!
Why stop there? Combine golden form and super saiyan blue and have him go Emerald Cell :P would give us a new and farm more powerful power up. Need godly ki? Have him absorb one of the many gods in DBS. Maybe have him also cut himself into pieces, and have individual pieces turn into other Cells, and then do a Namekian fusion with them. BOOOM! Instant infinite power ups!
Deksas not Really. All he needed was absorbing 17 and 18 to UNLOCK his true potential. He did lose 18 against SSJ2 Gohan. But returned as Super Perfect Cell after zenkai. That means he dont need to absorb anyone anymore. His full potential was already unlocked. And since anyone can now train offscreen (worst bullshit in all DB history) its very very likely he can return as Super-Duper-Mega-Ultra-Rainbow-Whatever-Cell.
1. Cell has proven he recieves Zenkai Boosts through the DNA of Goku and Vegeta... If Cell was brought back their would be no question that his strength would have multiplied immensely like it did when he 'died' from self destruction. Infact, he could purposely self destruct and regenerate as many times as he wants and receive Zenkai boost each time- it's risky incase he actually dies but each time his power would multiply so he'll be far superior to Frieza very quickly. 2. Cell was created for fighting, he has vast knowledge and skill that Freiza doesn't have as Freiza has always relied on power over skill. Cell has the DNA and knowledge from many of the universe greatest warriors combined. 3. Cell can sense power levels and power in general, smoke, debris and hiding won't fool him. 4. Cell also has the advantage of being the second best regeneration fighter we've seen after Majin Buu at a very quick speed too. You literally can't disarm or weaken him by breaking bones or ripping off limbs. 5. Cell has a huge movepool and has been shown to be able to learn more techniques just by absorbing a few cells from an opponent- he learned the instant transmission this way- having no prior knowledge of how. 6. Cell has intimate knowledge of EVERY other fighter on the team, their skills, their style, their techniques ect. and can work well paired up with anyone, while Freiza works well with literally no one on the team. 7. Cell won't double cross anyone. Cell wants to be the best fighter and isn't hellbent on revenge. A tournament would excite cell because of his saiyan DNA- and he's the only villain to have actually built his own arena and hold a tournament in it. Something tells me he is better to have in a tournament rather then the guy who literally tries to kill our team mates every time he gets a second chance (which by my count, Goku giving him energy on namek, Freiza surviving namek and being rebuilt as mecha Frieza, Frieza being wished back with dragonballs and Frieza being brought to fight in this tournement... is literally everytime he returns....). Conclusion; Frieza is superior in terms of strength to the point it triumphs over 'teamwork' and 'skill', but the fact is Freiza has already attempted to betray the team before the tournement has even started... Cell has the potential to be a better choice depending on how much stronger his Zenkai makes him and he's likelyhood of betraying the entire team to save his own skin... So really putting Majin buu in the time chamber for a few hours to wake him up was the best option.

Dude was straight evil, we literally saw him killing the elderly and the children while toying with the few warriors that opposed him. He was the most powerful being Dragonball ever knew, even when it seemed like Goku was holding his own- he wasn't. Frieza was holding back and he was using kaoiken times some stupidly high number just to keep up. He lived through Goku's most powerful attack at the time and then killed even more people. He made the baddass Vegeta seem like a scared bitch. He caused the super saiyan transformation. But what has Frieza done since then? Humiliated by Trunks in a few seconds... Rushed back to Earth are training for four months to seek revenge in what may have been the Frieza stupidest choice yet (No more calm, collected and cunning Frieza we saw before Goku went super saiyan on his ass!). He isn't even the strongest being imaginable anymore- he ain't even top 25!, he's wayyyy down that list now that we have a dozen Gods, a dozen angels, a xeno god, a xeno angel, special xeno god guards, super saiyan Gods, Jiren, Hit, and probably others within this tournement. Hell we even got another Frieza thanks to Frost lol. That said though, I don't think we should have brought Cell back. Right now he's unique- he is the only main major villain of an arc that hasn't been brought back after being defeated. Vegeta stayed from the saiyan saga, Frieza keeps returning after the namek saga, Krillin wifed one of the androids from the Android saga- and 17 is back too, Majin Buu is both ressurected as Uub and fat Buu is in somekind of homosexual relationship with Mr. Satan. We need atleast one main villain to actually be dead, y'know? Majin Buu should have been in this fight, they should never have written him out of the entire arc, especially when they did the exact same thing during the last tournament. Whats the point in fat Buu staying when in the whole of super he only fought once- in an exhibition match, against a weird dog man who kicks alot. Weird Dog Man never stood a chance and Buu thought it was a fun game. It was a single episode. #MakeBuuGreatAgain.

At first I didn’t know how to feel about Frieza joining Team Universe 7. But after the final few episodes of the ToP, especially the last one, I’m convinced there was no better choice.

I think the real reason was that Freeza is MUCH more simpler to draw, unlike Cell who's spots on his body are VERY time intensive. Even Toriyama said he HATED drawing Cell in the manga cause of his body spots, since he had to keep checking that the spots were correctly placed for every image.

1. He has his Beetle type wings so he can still use flight ( the latest episode of super confirms if it's natural flight it's okay)

3. He's smarter in terms of his techniques

1. Cell has WAAAAAY more potential due to the fact that he is a product of Dr. Gero, he is part saiyan, namekian, and friezan. Cell has NEVER trained alive. Neither did frieza until frieza heard that goku beat the infamous buu. And frieza got his form in 4 months.
2. Cell could train in probably 1 month and be Super Saiyan Royal (gold and purple) Perfection Cell. He would be twice as powerful than frieza for being part saiyan, and saiyans naturally become stronger through conflict.
3. Look at the requirements to beat the dbz villains: frieza= super saiyan. Now it only takes super saiyan god kaioken (possibly not that far)
Cell= the entire z fighters until goku went super saiyan to ascended then gohan with family kameha wave.
Buu= all of the z fighters (yet again, lost) and then super saiyan 3 with spirit bomb.
Now, it took super saiyan to beat frieza multiple times until resurrection of f. And goku held back in the movies. If cell trained, with the DNA of frieza goku and piccolo coursing through him, oh yeah, he would mac the shit out of golden frieza no problem. Point is: Cell has more potential, plus I'm tired of seeing frieza constantly fucking showing up when there are a couple of villains more capable than him.
I agree with you mostly except for the part where there are more villains that could have been used. Buu was reincarnated into Uub, everybody Namek and pre-Namek are way too weak, and movie villains aren't canon to the story. That pretty much leaves Cell, Dabura, and possibly Broly since LSSJ is confirmed to be a real form, but nobody in Super even knows that Broly exists/existed. Cell is pretty much the only viable candidate, but Toei doesn't really give a shit about him because "muh cells spots are too hard to animate".

The story part is debatable though because Cell had more impact on Characters, because:
- Absorbed Androids 17 and 18
- With that he absorbed Krillin’s love interest
- Got to be the only villain in Dragon Ball Z to actually kill Goku
- Possible mutual grudge between Cell and Gohan due to their final battle and events prior
- Manipulated Vegeta and then humiliated him twice. Also Cell murdered his son, twice.
- Whooped Piccolo’s belly.
And last, but obviously not least!

Ok Frieza did that but its seems like they don't care about that, Goku doesn't care about bardock or planet vegeta and If vegeta still cared about frieza destroying his planet then why doesn't he wish to bring them back or think about it? . And we have seen Frieza a lot of times now and now that they brought Android 17 back think about the confrontation between them.
Why would vegeta want to revive his barbaric counterparts, especially at this point? I think toriyama wanted to bring an enemy back so he chose frieza because logistically and iconically it makes sense. There probably more just saying its not fair to compare cell and frieza power levels AFTER frieza got a movie with a huge power boost.

If I recall right, the drones that gathered information for the cells of Cell were only on planet earth, they didn't see or know anything about the happenings on Namek. Remember how surprised Dr. Gero and C18 were when they first saw the Super Saiyan, cause they didn't know that form. Cell can learn every move, but if I get it right, he doesn't have any Genes of Freeza.

1. Cell has proven he recieves Zenkai Boosts through the DNA of Goku and Vegeta... If Cell was brought back their would be no question that his strength would have multiplied immensely like it did when he 'died' from self destruction. Infact, he could purposely self destruct and regenerate as many times as he wants and receive Zenkai boost each time- it's risky incase he actually dies but each time his power would multiply so he'll be far superior to Frieza very quickly.
2. Cell was created for fighting, he has vast knowledge and skill that Freiza doesn't have as Freiza has always relied on power over skill. Cell has the DNA and knowledge from many of the universe greatest warriors combined.
3. Cell can sense power levels and power in general, smoke, debris and hiding won't fool him.
4. Cell also has the advantage of being the second best regeneration fighter we've seen after Majin Buu at a very quick speed too. You literally can't disarm or weaken him by breaking bones or ripping off limbs.
5. Cell has a huge movepool and has been shown to be able to learn more techniques just by absorbing a few cells from an opponent- he learned the instant transmission this way- having no prior knowledge of how.
6. Cell has intimate knowledge of EVERY other fighter on the team, their skills, their style, their techniques ect. and can work well paired up with anyone, while Freiza works well with literally no one on the team.
7. Cell won't double cross anyone. Cell wants to be the best fighter and isn't hellbent on revenge. A tournament would excite cell because of his saiyan DNA- and he's the only villain to have actually built his own arena and hold a tournament in it. Something tells me he is better to have in a tournament rather then the guy who literally tries to kill our team mates every time he gets a second chance (which by my count, Goku giving him energy on namek, Freiza surviving namek and being rebuilt as mecha Frieza, Frieza being wished back with dragonballs and Frieza being brought to fight in this tournement... is literally everytime he returns....).
Conclusion; Frieza is superior in terms of strength to the point it triumphs over 'teamwork' and 'skill', but the fact is Freiza has already attempted to betray the team before the tournement has even started... Cell has the potential to be a better choice depending on how much stronger his Zenkai makes him and he's likelyhood of betraying the entire team to save his own skin... So really putting Majin buu in the time chamber for a few hours to wake him up was the best option.

Boogie Nice I feel ya. It's like, Frieza was awesome during his namek debut. Dude was straight evil, we literally saw him killing the elderly and the children while toying with the few warriors that opposed him. He was the most powerful being Dragonball ever knew, even when it seemed like Goku was holding his own- he wasn't. Frieza was holding back and he was using kaoiken times some stupidly high number just to keep up. He lived through Goku's most powerful attack at the time and then killed even more people. He made the baddass Vegeta seem like a scared bitch. He caused the super saiyan transformation.
But what has Frieza done since then? Humiliated by Trunks in a few seconds... Rushed back to Earth are training for four months to seek revenge in what may have been the Frieza stupidest choice yet (No more calm, collected and cunning Frieza we saw before Goku went super saiyan on his ass!). He isn't even the strongest being imaginable anymore- he ain't even top 25!, he's wayyyy down that list now that we have a dozen Gods, a dozen angels, a xeno god, a xeno angel, special xeno god guards, super saiyan Gods, Jiren, Hit, and probably others within this tournement. Hell we even got another Frieza thanks to Frost lol.
That said though, I don't think we should have brought Cell back. Right now he's unique- he is the only main major villain of an arc that hasn't been brought back after being defeated. Vegeta stayed from the saiyan saga, Frieza keeps returning after the namek saga, Krillin wifed one of the androids from the Android saga- and 17 is back too, Majin Buu is both ressurected as Uub and fat Buu is in somekind of homosexual relationship with Mr. Satan. We need atleast one main villain to actually be dead, y'know? Majin Buu should have been in this fight, they should never have written him out of the entire arc, especially when they did the exact same thing during the last tournament. Whats the point in fat Buu staying when in the whole of super he only fought once- in an exhibition match, against a weird dog man who kicks alot. Weird Dog Man never stood a chance and Buu thought it was a fun game. It was a single episode. #MakeBuuGreatAgain.

Even though they picked Frieza to be in the spotlight for now, I genuinely hope they do the same with Cell in some form somewhere down the line. The Cell Games is by far my most favorite part of DBZ for multiple reasons and I would get so nostalgic to see him return somehow!

I think having majority Saiyan Cells probably diminished most of Friezas cells benefits like Friezas massive power scaling. He gets the Saiyans Zenkai boost instead, which is inferior to Friezas own boost ability.

I think the real reason was that Freeza is MUCH more simpler to draw, unlike Cell who's spots on his body are VERY time intensive.
Even Toriyama said he HATED drawing Cell in the manga cause of his body spots, since he had to keep checking that the spots were correctly placed for every image.
