Getting in to 40k was no accident! Really it all began at school when a friend of mine brought in his 40k Rule Book and I was inspired by what I saw! I've been into the wargames hobby in general now for years and really enjoy it! I guess the good thing about wargames is the fact you can fight it out with your opponent on the wargames table without the worry of personal injury to yourself - well most of the time anyway! (I'm not exactly a body builder size wise)! - Ігри

I know I've said this before but SS82 battle reports are the best on UA-cam, amazing armies and table and so professionaly shot
a few notes:
might of heroes affects a single model.
if a weapon is heavy, it give -1 to hit to the firer, even if terminator or vehicle, unless the model has a rule which says otherwise ( link centurions )
Giovanni Di Stefano also the character rule which stops them being shot with fewer than 10 wounds was forgotten a few times

I don't understand why anyone would dislike this video. I know every vid on youtube will have them but was just thinking about it. Jealousy? Competitors? Personal vendettas? People that don't like 40k but are watching a 40k batrep? Great vid as always pal, I look forward to playing you one day once I have a complete army painted up (at least a year away)

Remember heavy weapons get -1 to hit for moving, you pretty much forgot that across the board, relentless is pretty much a thing of the past outside of special rules like decimator protocalls, machine spirit, etc. As for more points efficient lascannons for your IF? Two squads of 5 devastators with 4 lascannons each and the armorium cherub, 340 points for 8 lascannons, 10 lascannon shots on the first turn, with the double shot lascannons hitting on 2+'s from the sergeant. Or go with a stormraven with twin lascannon, twin multi melta, twin stormstrike missile launcher, and a pair of hurricane bolters, 326 points. Both much better than the centurions, who are probably one of the worst units in the codex now - just way overcosted.
Yup, they are just way way to weak. No delivery system for them for alpha strike and a massive liability in a gun line.
Guess they felt they needed to try to get the Teddy Bear Marines off the table.

I watch a lot of different channels and can say this is one of the best.
As for this bat rep I'm a marine player and have gotten used to watching marines get stomped recently so was nice to see them give a good account of themselves for once.
Also was a good game dice rolling wise don't think either side had a particularly bad string of luck this game. bad luck and good luck on both sides

Can't believe how lucky you are with the command point re-rolls on seizing the initiative! Second game where I've watched that haha. As I found myself doing whenever i watch battle reports vs Tau, I cheered for the Imperial fists, and did some imperial fist pumps after Commander Pinpoint fell. Good game guys

luke maybe considering a cadre fireblade by all those fire warriors?
cause u getting re-roll hit of 1 because etheral (not rlly handy cause 1 markerlight does the exact same thing) so with a cadre fireblade u gonna have pulse waepons within 6" of a cadre fireblade fire an additionel shot at half range (15") soo what is do is 2 maybe even 3 units of 12 fire warriors each letting go 36 shot at half range !!
also the cadre fireblade has a marketlight (hitting on 2's)
And maybe getting a pulse accelerator drone from a pathfinder team to push those fire warrior shots out another 6", so their half range become 18". Just recommend adding shield, recon, and grav-inhibitor drones to the unit so it's harder for opponent to take out the pulse accelerator drone.
jan bos for fire warriors they're amazing, not to mention that 2+ markerlight is handy to start a markerlight cascade. It's hilarious to see your opponents face when they go from rapid 1 to triple tap range on all your fire warriors XD. But honestly, I've been running suit heavy lists and his Markerlight is soo good.
jan bos the volley fire special rule on the fireblade gives them a whole extra shot and not an extra attack. So fire warriors shoot 4 times at half range instead of 3. You can read the difference about a shot and an attack in the rule book under the shooting phase section.
no..... it says shot, not attack, which means they add a shot to their Rapid fire 1 guns. This means they get two shots from being in half range, and an additional die from the Volley Fire rule, resulting in three shots total.
Exidous96 Yes, they do get another shot. In the number of attacks section, the rules stat the number of ATTACKS a gun can fire is beside the gun's type, so rapid fire 1 is one ATTACK at more than half range. A SHOT is firing the gun so you would get 2 full sets of ATTACKS at half range with the fireblade.
Just picked up a rule book and Xenos 2 Codex... mostly because I have been enjoying your videos of 40k. My first army I am looking to put together is either T'au or Tyranids... keep on gaming man.

We would have won, but I was unable to get the Astropath to get us here sooner, being such we were unable to help out our Brothers in the skirmish. Now to return the the pain glove for my failures and instead of securing victory only securing a draw.

I'm not sure about this, but shouldn't the Rhinos that you're blowing up force your opponent to roll for the occupants? On a roll of a 1 a model is removed.
When a transport is destroyed, the player who owns it rolls a die to see if the vehicle explodes. On a 6 it does. The "roll for wound on each model" is only applied if the transport explodes.
I can't see this in the FAQs, but as per the rule book, you roll for the occupants even if you don't roll a 6 to blow it up. Blowing it up on a 6 only deals mortal wounds to nearby units.
In the cass of an emergency disembark (no matter if the transport explodes or not) you roll D6 for each model embarked on it. On a 1 it is slain.
forgeworld mortis dread is 175 points with two twin lascannons. according to the FAQ they can take a cyclone missile launcher too in addition to the two gun arms. as it is written.
8th was a chance to change first turn bias! I wish who ever gets first turn was decided before deploying and no seize roll existed! Instead a roll to see who gets first turn if neither opponent agrees! The catch is who ever goes second gets a pre determined amount of points for free to bring an extra unit or upgrades. Yeah you wld have to bring an extra unit each game to use or not to use but that's extra sales for and helps mitigate the bias of first turn.
Just insane that you can still seize in 8th with a dice roll!
As par the norm of 40k players deployed in the open. Use line of sight blocking terrain turn one or not. I think I mentioned this in another u tube channel.

Completely agreed. I don't know if your exact proposal for balance works, but definitely first vs second turn should be a balanced arrangemnt that offers little to no advantage to either player

With a unit or model that can split fire, you have to declare them all before starting to roll off. Most of Tau shooting turn one was based on rules being broken.

If Pinpoint has more than 10 wounds, he can be the target of shooting regardless if another visible unit is closer to the shooting unit.

You guys forgot that those flyers still suffer -1 to hit with heavy weapons when moving. Storm talon is bs 3+ and gets +1 against ground targets so all that does is cancel the penalty unless you hovered and didn't move. And then it would actually be 4+ to hit against stuff with fly if he moved.

A suggestion on how to bring 6 Lascanon. Razorbacks are awesome in 8th. 10 wounds per pair of Lascanons while being great protection for the units.

When you blew up the rhino, you should have rolled a die for each model inside and slain one for each 1 rolled.
I'm put this question to see opinions on a 8th edition tactica. I am running an elite army list but With the points drop of chaos units I can afford a warpsmith. This is the conundrum do I break up my 30 man Unit of cultists to make 3 units and gain 2 command points but add 3 more drops making it more unlikely to get first turn. Thoughts? Command points vs unit drops?
kyle brown would be worth it round my way as we are using the roll off method to determine first turn with the player that ended deployment first getting +1 to the roll, so you are by no means guaranteed to go first.
Uff at Draw at the end ... I think those flyers where the Key, the Broad Battelsuits did really poor dice results in the second and third turn. It was a pitty.
And The Storm Sargent do it acceptable but he's able to do it better, maybe save the re-rolls of the battalion attachmemt to him, he has the powerfull guns so he has the chance to do the more damage at all.
Also Pinpoint can do a lot of damage and he alone with her bodyguard can be really paintfull but if they always get alone, it will be easier to take dawn the drones and the battelsuits or lock them in combat to finish later cause the characters are invul. whereas are sorround by ally so maybe if the Ghostkill and the Comander work together it will increase his starting chsnces to survive and later maybe the can separete to attack to diferents units or frontlines.
I also have more to say, because the Imperial Fist could win this game but The Tau could reduce really significant their firepower before they get that chance.
Following my ideas,those warriors (unit type that has been eliminated by the Terminators) that aren't the Fire Warriors (I don't know the name sorry) seem like to be a really anti-infantery type but if they are always intercepted or far frome the objectives or just not in range they will be always be in trouble so the might can be more protected.
They have another funcion that is protect the Fire Warriors frome other units that get close thats good so they should move together.
Or may be have a transport... but this will be expensive in points ...
The Fire Warriors are Good in numbers and with the turrets.
The Broad battelsuits I understabd that they are you specialist anti-air units but their ancient wepons it wasen't better ?
I mean it also they are allowed to shot flyers right ?

The Strorm Sargent is amazing don't chance nothing about him.
Only the preasure to be shoted by him with his main gun scare.
The Army is really well but the ghostkill ... mmm it seem pretty cool, but I haven't seen a specific funcion, rol or be intimidating or powerfull as other units may be he can use other wepons (the fusion blasters are good) its the cyclic rifle yeah it's even better but then it will becomes like a bounty hunter so it will better depoying from reserve to attack from the back or just supporting other units.
Just to mencion a few thinks more the comander Re-equiped it look really well I think he has get better.Good change for him and it works really well in most situations (is powerfull and flexible) and also with her bodyguards they work well.
The GhostKill need to change a little,his wepons ...or maybe changed by more battle suits maybe or transport or just more broad battelsuits.
I have to say also the ghostkill has got short time on the chanel so he has not many changes or time likr the other

The Scenario the Same really helps to feel that you are there not like the battels in a brown table with the half army pinted and the other still in black.
So it helps a lot to sumerge in the battlereport.
This 8t Edition has change much things some of them seem more reasonables but change a lot strategies.
I thought for I have seen for now in balance the game has win life than before.
Just need the armys adapt to the new rules.

I love the look of your imperial fists. It's really difficult to make yellow imposing but you do. I love there fluff as well but I feel that they got a bit screwed in 8th

Let this be a lesson. Don't leave ann epensive unit without bubble wrap. Those Centurions should have been deployed with the Rhinos or Marines surrounding them, thus preventing a deepstike close to them.
The assault cannon from the interceptor hits on 3s, the skyhammer hits on 2s vs fliers ;) otherwise great battle
The flyers' weapons are heavy weapons so all of their rolls would require an additional -1 to hit penalty...

I did go back and rewatch this before making my comment and I do hate to nitpick, esp against Mr Scorpion or my fav tau but... 38:50, only 3 wounds actually dished out of the 4. This means not only did the suits get wiped first turn but several major weapons couldve been used on other targets... Gonna continue turn 2 now but, ouch! Correct me if Im somehow wrong please

Good game. After you stole the initiative Luke, I was already shaking my head, and after the devastating first turn firepower, I thought the end was pretty much foretold. But in the strange and random ways of 40k (and dice games in general), you suffered an extremely bad round of shooting, leaving James with enough firepower intact to do some serious damage to your most dangerous units. And damage them he did, blowing away the Crisis suits and almost killing Pinpoint!
As for keeping the Centurions alive, try keeping them between other units (like rhinos) and line of sight blocking terrain.
Yeah I thought the game was in the bag lol... Yes tactics like that would help the Centurions!:)

When the StormSurge shot didn't it have V tracker? Making hard to hit -1 and V tracker +1 So it should have stayed a 3 to hit? Also The Storm Hawk was shot at with the StormSurge as well and it was hit with a Marker Light, should the hit of one should have been re-rolled? This may actually brought down a considerable amount of firepower! Either way, as always wonderful content and continue to fight For the Greater Good!!

wouldn't the storm talon still be hitting on 5's due to moving with a heavy weapon at 1:20:00 ? might of heroes affects a single model not a unit so it could not affect the entire unit of terminators.
A 7th edition bug that still needs to be squashed. Heavy weapons are +1 to hit when moved unless the model has something that negates it (power of the machine spirit/decimator protocols, etc.). There is no more relentless which is the reason why many are forgetting to apply it to vehicles/flyers/terminators, myself included!
The terminator and stormtalon/stormhawk assault cannons hits on 4+ when moved. Then apply interceptor where appropriate for the flyers.
at 1 wound the storm talon hits on 5's according to it's damage chart, though i will admit to forgetting to apply the penalty to monstrous creatures on occasion.

Broadsides can fly would affect flyer shooting at it turn 3+.
darcel magee broadsides cannot fly they do not have the keyword

I think what was decleared at 40:13 was illegal. at that time he didn't have the opportunity to designate Commander Cringeworthy as a target so there was no shooting at him.
Also i guess you missed the drones in the first turn if i got that correctly.

I'm certain James sets out to lose each and every game. Las canons are finally a prime resource of 8th addition and they're dropped from the list of tactical squads bar the squad on foot, even though every game in 7th featured a las canon in each. And I've never known anybody to roll so unsuccessfully. Where does James buy his dice? Because I'm not shopping there. Could someone stitch together every dice roll of James' that's unsuccessful? Feature film. All-in-all though a great gam. Great viewing. Love this channel. Super supportive. Wishing James a win some time this edition.
I know your feeling with those terminators. one time last year, i had my full gunwall fire at them,3's to hit cuz of markerlights, 3's to wound. 137 shots. NO damage came through. one of the reasons i like the new armour save rules. but yea i have several stories like that with my brother. really sick of fighting spacemarines. :(

OK. I need a bit of help here: my friends have gotten back into 40k, after around two years of not playing (I didn't know them at the time). I've played with my friend's 600point guard army three times. All my friends have relatively small armies (slowly expanding however) of around 1000+ points. One of then gave me his old Eldar codex, as he got it for a good price at a car boot sale and doesn't collect eldar (Eldar to me look really good), so I've read through it, and I have found some units I like the look of. The only things I already own are 2 codexes from 2006 and 2000 and an unopened war walker. I would like to buy the start collecting elder set, wraithguard, some guardians the rulebook and index. Is this a good idea for starting 40k? If not, please could you leave a better suggestion for a similar price point? Your help would be truly appreciated.

Max Slavik you're going to want to get Guardians to fill troop slots. Dire Avengers are a bit expensive at the moment, and a wave serpent. GW sells a "start collecting box" that will help you get jump started

HQ, heavy support, and a fast attack. It's a good balance, but you'll need Guardians for your troops.
In my opinion, add a wave Serpent and some striking scorpions and you'll have a good basic force

Here striking scorpion the storm Tallion could not of killed pin point it was down to 2 wounds its bolistic skill would of been effected and you let him hit you in 2+ your commander would of still been up and the drones

I like warhammer figures but playing it just seems so complicated even if you’ve been doing it for years it seems there’s still rules etc that you miss which will affect the game, as you can see by reading all of these comments

I think in 8th edition the space Marines are under powered there armys are to small to be effective especially if they have second turn because by then half there arm is gone

If you go all out with space marines they can really bring the pain.

at 1 hour 24 the imperial fists could of shot the ghost keel they were locked in combat with. using bolt pistols.

Can I have a couple 40k models?
This was, without a doubt, the sloppiest game I've seen on this channel to date. Flyers hitting on 2's (what?), Ghostkeel T2 was hitting on 6's because he advanced, but apparently not, missing crucial re-rolls pretty much all over the shop, not rolling for Saviour Protocols, and by heavens if that wasn't one of the shittiest lists I've ever seen for an SM army. 432 points for 9 wounds of "please deep strike me", 98 points for a Missile Launcher (let's be real here, Hunter is tragic), and Rhinos instead of Twin Ass. Cannon Razorbacks, after they keep losing their minds at how good they are.
I really don't know how the Imp. Fists pulled a draw from what was meant to be a loss, but I suppose when you spend 3 turns shooting Broadsides at Flyers instead of the very tasty Terminator Squad, you probably don't deserve to win.
Hey love your vids, but there is something that has always bugged me in every video, and it's that almost all videos have 20 minutes spent with professionally shot terrain and quotes. Even though I'm complaining about your work please don't think I'm hating your video because of this, because even though it bugs me I'll still watch the videos.
Luke does the best batreps out there, he has genuine passion for the fluff the models the scenery and painting. It's best to have too much rather than too little in the battle reports, so if you want to skip forward you can!

You must declare all targets before rolling any dice. The way Pinpoint was used in turn one shooting was wrong; because he declared against the Centurion, he would not have been able to shoot the Rhino. This is the second report I've seen where a clear basic rule or one that has been FAQ'd has been broken in favour of the T'au player. Really turns me off your batreps. Sort it out.

No, overall I love 8th, my main complaint is that vehicles can shoot at anything with everything as long as a bit of the tank can see, one annoying example being when I had a tactical squad in a building but the front tread of a primaris repulsion could see so they had to endure one hell of a shooting phase.
my friend likes to corner dabble with his necron stalker, putting jsut the tip of one of its legs out of a building (it doesnt specifiy that it has to be from its body, so we house ruled it lol)
I dont think even the best painting can fix those ugly Tau models. Those broadsides... Yuck!
Might as well trade the Centurions for 3 Razorbacks if you really want that 6 Lascannons.
