Welcome back to ProGuitarShop and ToneReport.com.Today we're palling around with the PAL800 JCM Emulator, from PedalPalFX. The JCM Emulator is a painstakingly engineered replica of the vaunted Marshall JCM 800 preamp section. Featuring the exact same control scheme of the JCM 800, PedalPalFX takes the schematic of the original amp, breaks it down and delivers an exact replica using FETs instead of tubes. Just like real valves, the FETs are carefully audited in the circuit and biased accordingly, with each unit thoroughly tested. The result is a true artisan overdrive that is true to the source material. The Gain knob of the JCM Emulator works like the preamp volume on the original 800 but with an even wider range, giving you everything from low-wattage Bluesbreaker tones to singing '80s drive to hell-raising '90s hard rock crunch. Just like a real amp, the JCM Emulator responds incredibly well to volume knob cleanup, reining in the gain while altering your pick attack. The Emulator's three-band EQ stays true to a traditional Marshall tone stack, and delivers interactive bands that are augmented by the Presence control. If that's not enough EQ for you, the Emulator packs a "Master Tone" trimpot on the inside for further tone shaping. This host of tone controls keeps your tone entrenched in the mix regardless of guitar, amp, or any amount of pedals before or after the Emulator. Each JCM Emulator is hand-biased, built and tested in Venezuela.
Our first international demo!!! Thanks a lot Tom and Andy for this review... amazing!!!
Your pedal sounds great, guys. That being said, consider revamping the art a bit. A lot of people buy pedals (especially unknown boutique ones) based on their artwork and sometimes not much else, and I think yours is lacking a bit on that department. It's shallow but that's how it goes with a lot of people.
Hi Desmond Hume, Thanks alot for your comment, Yes we know that the art printing on a pedal is important this days, but when we design this pedal we want to get out of that tendency and go to the 80s era, even the PCBoard is handmade also as was done in the 80s... we want to capture that era not only on tone but also in the way was build... Thanks again...
Absolutely. Personally I think you guys did an amazing job. The pedal sounds amazing, the artwork works for me. I just mentioned it because I know that a lot of people are into more modern-looking artwork and most pedal companies doing well nowadays are relying on strong, modern graphics to appeal to them. This won't stop a lot of people (myself included, perhaps) to buy this pedal, but it might discourage some others. Either way, best of luck, guys.
Thanks again for your comments... we hope that you buy one PAL 800 JCM Emulator on the future, we are selling this pedal for now only on Reverb, here is the link:

Ehi guys, nice product really. I just want to ask if it would be possible to mod this with an internal 18v bump or not, because of the fet setting at 9v. I'm seriously gonna buy one!
It's so easy...to watch these videos and then spend a ton of cash! Thanks again, Andy!
It's so easy to sound that good when you have Andy's skills
agree - Andy's almost convinced me to buy a Boss SD-1. I already have one... sigh. GAS.

Now THIS is a killer opening song. Sounds unreal.
tonepoet It's so easy by Guns N' Roses
That first tune sent me to the floor, wow. Great pedal.

Andy must like this pedal ,hes on today!!!!
Life in the gear universe can be so funny at times. When I first got into playing guitar in the early 90's, the JCM800's were the amps we'd try to avoid. If you walk into a reharsal room and they had one of those, it was an immediate buzz kill. Meanwhile20+ years later these are not just sought after but actually copied. Worst of all they're starting to sound pretty great to me. For one thing, this pedal definitely does an excellent job. Odd how these things go around.
I used to hate them at the time ... now ... I really want this sound!
Never heard that before. Ive heard that people avoided the 900s though.
Why did you avoid them?Just curious. Did you associate them with a certain type of music, or some other reason?
Well, we were kids at the time, playing hardcore in ew York City. So there was a lot of that clean to heavy stuff going on. The big saturated preamp sound was what we really needed for the heavier stuff, and that needed to happen at reasonable rehearsal volumes.
Meanwhile most of the rehearsal rooms had older beat-up 800's, which were really abundant at the time. In order to get them to sound right you really had to crank the power section so that the tone would get some body, but then it would be hard to back off to clean. Doubtlessly my lack of experience at the time had a lot to do with it.
At the time most of my friends preferred the 900's, with their hotter preamps. But in retrospect these were actually much worse because of thediode clipping distortion, giving them a buzzy charcter unless you crancked them enough so that the power section would add ample natural compression.
That was really interesting. Thanks for sharing.
Andy tore it up here! Wow!
Pedal sounds great.
Nice playing pal!
KICK ASS COVER! U R TRULY GENUINE!
Thanks Andy! I'd love to hear a comparison video between this and the newer 959 Plexi Emulator.
Esse pedal é incrível!
Sounded great right out of the gate with the intro bit. Definitely seems worthy of serious consideration just from that intro alone. \m/
Made in Venezuela! que orgullo!
Qué arrecho, panaaaaa!!!
La proxima semana voy a Marin Import en Peru a adquirirlo! Esta super!

Gracias Gustavo!!! ya te mostraré todos de la pedalera cuando este lista...un abrazo!!!
I would listen to this dude if he had a podcast talking about gear without any actual sound clips
Fuck yeah, just went back to my teens🤘🏻
Funny... I get the same sound out of a Marshall Class 5 when cranked through a 4x12 cab with a 59' PAF in the bridge.
Speed x1.25 for maximum 80's.
Is this supposed to be the Jubilee series?
Hello, good Video. How does it compare to the Lpd 87 pedal? Ive heard that the lpd lawrence petros 87is the top notch marshall jcm800 pedal right now.
Oh my sweet sweet Lord.
andy enjoys playing this song just like me hehehe
Andy makes it look So fckn Ez.
It's so easy!
I wish the one that I just got last week sounded close to this one, mine has a lot of treble no matter how you set it.
jriv454 adjust the master tone trim pot inside...?
Hi, please I need help this is a matter of life or death :O...... I have the Radial London Bones distortion (you have a demo of this pedal in this channel)... which pedal is better emulating a marshall jcm 800 amplifier? the london bones pedal or this Pal 800?.... please, I've been looking this kind of distortion for a long time!!! Thanks :)
So...pull the trigger on this or a fire custom shop carpe diem?

Hi M Medcalf. Thanks a lot for your comment and also for buying one PAL800 JCM Emulator and a PAL959 Plexi Emulator on Reverb.com ...the pedals are on their way...Thanks a lot!!!. The PAL 959 Plexi Emulator will have an oficially demo on 2017, however, we offer one once in a while on Reverb.com. Al ser un preamplificador, ¿el PAL800 se puede conectar con la entrada del amplificador? ¿O siempre tienes que conectarte por el retorno del amplificador?
Being a preamp, the PAL800 can be connected by the Input of the amplifier? Or do you always have to connect by the return of the amplifier?
CH DC Puede ser connectado en ambos configuraciónes...y también si vas conectar ala consola Connecta el pedal con un Simuladora de Cabinet(Speaker Simulation)
I feel very proud to see an excellent product, a competitive one, made in #Venezuela 🇻🇪. Thanks Andy and the crew of #TR and #PGS for the review. Pedal PAL FX and Megafaidel E3 pedals are both interesting proposals for the electric bassist and guitarist. Check them out! I wanna try one 😉
José Pérez how is this made in Venezuela? I thought that country is in chaos?
Mini Surf It's in chaos but some industries and manufacturers are still working hard. The conditions are hostile and may be our last chance to put the government off is to go a general strike.
Now Silicon Zuppa too!
Anyone know what polarity this is
oh dios mio!!!
Show ☠ Gostei
.
Will this pedal be in-stock anytime soon? I am guessing it's a slow process making these.
Hi +Darin Steele, you can buy the pedal in the following link, every monday we list a new stock...thanks alot for your comment: reverb.com/item/2549924-pal-800-jcm-emulator-overdrive-pedal-effect
Venezuela!
Yeah but what's the prices on these?
Guys, this pedal or Wampler Pinnacle? Which one better or more versatile?
Definitely this one. This actually makes any clean amps work like a real Marshall JCM 800 or at least got the signature voicing. Not just the hi gain drive/hot rod sound of JCM but the whole essence of it.
where can we purchase this?
Hi +The Prowlers, you can buy the pedal in the following link, every monday we list a new stock...thanks alot for your comment: reverb.com/item/2549924-pal-800-jcm-emulator-overdrive-pedal-effect
guns n roses ooo yeeaaahhh
I should also add that this pedal is killer tho!
In Venezuela??!!
Hola, cuéntenme si les interesa vender en Santiago de Chile. Saludos!
only Andy can make ANOTHER jcm800 pedal sound new. should be $125
Anyone who plays an actual JCM800. Does this pedal nail the tone? Or is it just 'close.'
The 800's had to be cranked into oblivion in rder to sound right. At lower volumes they lacked body when overdriven. This pedal seems to do a great job of capturing the desired 800s sound while actually being practcal.
There is nothing in the gear world that truly nails anything else, but this does a good job of copping the right vibe.
I had one for some time, this doesn't sound like one in my opinion but it do sound great, more of a bassy plexi sound like a JTM or something. Solid marshall tone, but a jcm 800 tone, no not really.
Might sound closer to a real 800 if you're running a 4 or 8 12 inch speaker cabinet. Andy uses a 1x12 DRRI, a lot of the sound of the 800 comes from the amp's interaction with the closed 4x12 cabinets.
It's physically impossible to sound exactly the same as a big cranked up tube amp in a pedal, physically impossible. but this pedal is a verry verry good replica. the best I've seen but I will or no other will sound exactly like the real deal. physically impossible
No they don't. If you're having to turn your 800's MV past 3 or 4 something is wrong. The sweet spot starts at just over 2 on the dial. 3 is brilliant.
I want.
Can I just run this with a guitar straight into a speaker cab?
Wouldn’t recommend. It’s not designed to be used alone like a preamp pedal. Honestly this pedal will work perfectly into the front end of any clean amps! Stay away from orange or Marshall and you are on good hands.
Name on the first song?
Fredrik Grahn It's So Easy by Guns n Roses
it's so easy - guns n roses
Compare to the wampler slostortion!
Thanks for vids , someone chime in tell me the intro song ,,thanks, pedal sounds great , nice playin , :)
Thanks so much! Guns N Roses - It's So Easy
Comon man why does nobody seem to know what hi-gain is? Im looking for an emulator that will get me a simmilar tone to metallica ride the lightning through and justice for all tone or megadeth rust in peace type tone. Can anyone help. Texas Harmonics makes about as close to it as I have seen but I get no reply from them on how I can purchase their hot mod 800
Ehhh. The Alexander Jubilee Silver does this much better I think. It's much more open sounding.
No hate intended here but ..Andy is a great player but I find it interesting that the guy who doesn't use a pick ever does all the demo's. 8.5-9 out of every 10 players use a pick at least 75% of the time. Certain techniques/sound (which are most commonly used) are only achieved by using a pick and most of us are using them.
.....i had NO idea he doesnt use a pick...
I use picks about half the time. This dude uses his fingernail like a pick, so...........
That's my biggest pet peeve with anything Andy demos that's harder than blues.
Dude's a great player, but half of what i listen for when I watch demos is response to pick attack.
Fingernails are no match for medium-heavy picks and a heavy picking hand.
That said, he does get this thing sounding pretty sweet.
too soon after the Friedman be-od pedal for anyone to release an overdrive and it not stand in Friedman's sun I think.
Sounds great, but a lot more hair on it than the real thing.
it hasn't a lot of gain I prefer plexitone!😀
first !
You have a unique style, but you are missing the attack that a pick gives. Just sayin' ;)
