Fabric softener in a spray bottle. If your wig is really ratty. Boil water with fabric softer. Then put the wig in the hot water with the fabric softener. ❤ you will be happy.
I just bought my first wig RW "Simmer". I have watched all your videos and they have been so helpful. I'm sure ill be asking all kinds of questions when it comes time to actually wash and add heat back into my wig. Thank you for making videos!!!!
Thanks for confirming there really is no way to permanently get wigs not to tangle, especially at the nape. It’s all about maintenance. Your baby is adorable! Look the baby sounds as she drank from the bottle and as you continued talking! 😁
I ❤your videos on how to wash and refresh your wig. So helpful and it works! I brought an old BT Caliente back to life with soft ends again with your technique. I would love a tutorial on how you style, put curl back into Simmer, after straightening the ends. I wear Simmer 90% of the time but am afraid I won’t be able to get curls again after straightening the ends 😅
So I once heard that in the nape, use a hair thinning shears and just do along the nape and it won’t tangle. I think it was Jesse Simon on here. She said that all our hairs are different lengths and so using that thinning shear does to synthetics what human hair would do. What do you think? Both wigs so darling on you ☺
I've done it on a few cheap long hair Amazon wigs. They still tangled, but not sure if they tangled less or not. The biggest tip with doing it is not to cut the outer layer of hair because it looks funny, so I usually pull the hair up clip the top of the wig hairs back, so as to keep them from getting cut, then only do it on the layers underneath. I also reccomend getting a cheap wig to practice new techniques on. It's much better to learn on a $25 wig than a $250 wig.
@@WigsWithSteph as someone else said here, only the under hair, you don’t want visible thinning marks on the hair that lays over what you’ve cut. I’m so glad you have a show on here, I’ve gotten so many tips from you and am grateful ❤
Honey, your video content is what I have been looking for, you are very professional in your explanation of wigs and I would like to seek your cooperation to get more people to understand and use wigs.
Hi Steph! Would you please do a video on how to put the curl/wave back in your Simmer after straightening it? I am having a hard time with it. Is it better to steam or use a curling iron or flat iron? Thanks in advance!
Me too! I bought a back up b/c I’m afraid I won’t be able to get Simmer’s waves back in after I wash and straighten her. Could we have a part 3… styling a clean, straightened Simmer?
Fellow Canadian here, thank you for this ❤ Liked + subscribed! By the way, you are so beautiful!!! Both with and without the wigs! I honestly wish I was as pretty as you 🌹🌻 Hope to see more videos from you 😊
I'm obsessively watching your wig videos and of course, have subscribed to your channel. I'm probably 2ce your age at 60, with weak hairline going back to my teens (while my mom had. a strong hairline) with increasingly thinning, fragile and very fine hair. My forehead feels high, and the baby hairs at my temples have ALWAYS been so sparse an area that I have NEVER been able to have a strong bang styling. I tried and returned 10 assorted wigs from amazon, w/ cap --which i abhorred, then just wig grip, alone -- and all felt so uncomfy and unnatural . I almost wrote off wigs as a solution thinking they woul dnever work or be complimentary for me....BUt, one last wig, on a lark, I tried OVER my loose hair, with NO cap, NO grip. I, like you, have a very small head, and this airy basic cap was loose on me, but felt airy, and the darkened roots, of the light brown wig, matched my own hair color, and so blended well with my hair loose and showing discreetly underneath. The part was supposedly a middle one, but I slightly shifted to simulate my slightly off center standard look, and I tried to pull a few haris across the part to look more natural. AND, using the bra like strap coming from each ear flap section, I CONNECTED them to EACH OTHER, (rather than to the cap itself, as intended to cinch the fit) behind my head at the back bone (what's it called?) and even though the cap was decidedly larger, it stayed on my head, and even felt secure and comfortable, at least in these cool, NON-humid winter months. I felt I was on to something, and told my brother, who reassured me that this last 18" wig looked CONVINCING and attractive, that. I think what I wanted was a WIG that could be worn like a topper, which I had just learned about, but which seem to have coverage limitations that made it NOT a good solution for ME, with weak, high hairline and sparse temples - and fears that clips would have little to grib, and might further damage that already sparse and fragile and fine hair. BUT, it seems hard to find....I guess, in essence, I am seeking a a topper with massive coverage that stays fairly secure with no clips, and allows me to wear my hair loose so I can simply throw the wig on and GO... You seem to do almost this, by usig a simple grip and putting hair up quickly in the back, but I am even LASIER than that, and the feeling of having my own bio hair down and loose underneath, makes me feel like I am even MORE integrated with the wig. I guess I'd like to know if there are large-coverage toppers that cover up to and over the hair line annd sparse baby hair/temple area, rather than sitting back a bit, and that don't have clips that will either not have enough hair to support them or will pull on, and COMPROMISE my already fragile hair that I am trying to grow and strengthen over time? OR,, could I find and perhaps modify a "wig" and wear the way I'd prefer, with no grip or without putting up hair in back, and wearing hair loose, underneath, to match shadow roots? Also, can you recommend wig/topper cos that have liberal free return policy so that I can do trial and error until I find my match? FWIW, I am seeking just below shoulder length, light brown-ish, slight waver or straight-ish, and probably synthetic -- until I find my fit /style and can afford MORE $$$. P.S. I JUST LOVE YOUR VIDEOS; you are engaging, relatable, very informative, and a pleasure to learn from..... Little by little I plan to watch all your vids, with all their great tips for selection, styling, maintenance, fit etc. I think I was meant to find you this New Year... My 86-year mom just "passed" and was SO ROOTING😉 for me on this journey to treat my thinning, fragile, aging hair....SHe would have LOVED seeing me in this starter wig, that gave me more confidence than I've felt in years... Strutting about, outside, feeling 'myself, again, was such a revelation and so encouraging... Gave me such a boost and reassures me that there is a solution out there, once I sort through the opitons, and do some trial and error experimentation... I also want to address the internal and behavioral factors - nutrition/hydrations, hair care, less pulling on my hair, perhaps consistent supplements (viviscal as I can't afford Nutrifol...) Any wig or topper solution MUST allow my own bio hair underneath to reach its optimal health and resotrative potential. YOU hav ienspired me; I think there is relief in sight. THANK YOU
I’ve watched a lot of your videos now (some might say too many.. 😅) Thanks for all the great info btw! I think the color of wig you are wearing in this video suits you very much. ❤
Hi Steph, thank you for your amazing videos!!! I see in the comments that many of us have the same request, please 🙏🏻 make a video on how to curl simmer back to its natural waves after washing and putting heat back with the straightener. Thank you ❤
This one is on my to-do list ❤️ I’ve been needing to straighten it first before I video this process (because it is still in its waves I created from last time lol) with baby, it’s been so hard to find the time. But I truly will!!! I promise!! ❤️
@@shanhare76 I think I went about a month and a half- pushed it as long as I could. And then it got so tangly I couldn’t stand it, so I took the time to refresh it, and it was perfect again
Quick question that might sound a bit dumb: I must admit I get tired at night and will often remove my wig without detangling & reconditioning it and instead I do that in the morning or next time I go to wear it. Do you think that would cause a problem at all?
Hi ❤️ no, that won’t cause a problem at all. I’m pretty harsh on my wigs to be honest, and I definitely don’t detangle them every day. This video was meant to give the example of “perfect” wig wearing care - where the best care is taken. But our days get busy, and we’re tired at the end of it, and often times I just take my wig off and toss it on its hanger in my closet lol. Sometimes I’ll wear a wig multiple days in a row without detangling because I’m in a rush (new mom, and all lol) In this video, these are the steps I take to keep my wigs in good condition, but definitely don’t feel like you need to do it every single day. Take care of yourself first, and your wig(s) will hold up ❤️
I use the Simply Stylin’ spray when I feel like the fibers need help. When they feel a little full or are tangling a lot, when I want smoother feeling hair, or less flyaways, that’s when I use it. But definitely use it when I’m refreshing with heat.
Please say the color. You look so beautiful, but it doesn’t look like the color on the website. That’s the hardest thing for me wigs is the color. I agree with a lot of the comments you’ve made being sick and having to wear wigs fun.
Hi . I have thick hair in a bob length. It's fine but i have a lot. What wig do you recommend for me. I also part my hair in the middle . I want the wig to look real. What wig do you suggest...? Thanks
What length of hair on a wig are you interested in and do you prefer thick hair or on the thinner side? What type of cap do you prefer? It’s difficult to recommend a wig without knowing your preferences. Please feel free to watch my wig review videos (I have a ton of them), where I try them on and tell you all about the cap. From there it will be a lot easier to decide on a wig. This is one of my favourite long wigs: ua-cam.com/video/ARYCmQJHPd0/v-deo.htmlsi=IeDzfJDq-_WBcpbO
any unscented recommendations? my immune disorder leaves me with severe chemical sensitivities and that stylin spray made me very ill with its strong odor
“Non heat” friendly synthetic wigs do not tangle nearly as badly as “heat friendly” wigs. I don’t buy longer pieces, unless they are made from regular, “non-heat” friendly, fibers.
