  • 10 important upgrades to make the Honda NC750X an comfortable and usable bike on the streets and off road.
    I have made a mistake in the calculations, I've accidentally added the price of the panniers, top box and center stand although they are included in the price of the bike.
    The total price should be: 10.264€

    Great Video, I have the same bike and have ordered about $1300.00 in add ons. I got the engine guards, radiator guard, the SHAD mounting racks and the SHAD SH36 Hard Cases, (which were the biggest cost, $600.00) but worth it. Cant seem to find a center stand yet or the S/W foot peg set, but I did order cruising foot pegs and mounts that attach to the crash bar for highway cruising. And also one of those cruise controller gizmos (throttle lock device). Waiting on a new rear wheel stand to do chain maintenance and adjusting.

    I bought a windshield from Madstad Engineering. A US based company that makes 4 different tints to the windshield for our motorcycles. Its tall and a bit wider and its helped me with the wind against my chest and helmet. I will be getting the SW-Mototech foot pegs as my feet are wide and they look to be more comfortable for us taller riders. Yes, the stock seat is not the greatest as I like to ride out of town and sometimes in town for hours..I will invest in that down the road. Colder temperatures are around the corner here so I won't be riding. New subbie and great videos!

    Great list of worthwhile upgrades. I have some of them for my 2016 NC700X. I am wondering what is required for installing the rear Honda OEM trunk you have (no panniers, just trunk). I have the rear OEM Honda rack already on my bike, and am considering getting the trunk. Does the OEM trunk just snap or clip onto the rear OEM rack? Or is there something additional required? Thanks for the many helpful videos! :-)

    I agree with most of your ideas and suggestions - but for those of us who use this bike for commuting 85% of the time I would prefer to save my money and buy a second bike that is more specific to touring or adventure riding. Since that would be less than 20% of my riding I would purchase a used bike for that purpose - you can get a used Kawasaki Concours for around $4k and that is a better long distance touring bike than upgrading the NC750... And this Honda is really too heavy and lacks ground clearance for off-roading - no matter what you do to it. The NC750 is still the best "only bike" if you only have room or money for one.

    My impression of this bike is, it looks like an adventure bike, because nowadays that's what everybody wants, but it's not really, it's a commuter bike and short-haul touring bike. I've never ridden one (my local Honda dealer doesn't stock them), but I did rent its little brother, the NC500 x, for 4 days in Thailand last year. Very capable bike, not huge fun to ride but comfortable, reliable and good on gas. An excellent choice if you need a practical bike that will be cheap to buy and own. I just wish it weren't so ugly.

    • @FinnMikeonaBike
      @FinnMikeonaBike  4 роки тому +1

  • @arnomaas6452

    Instead of the radiator guard you can more cheaply buy a fender extender ! Also , the SW Motech center stand is compatible with the engine guard.There are cheaper solutions (givi , shad etc) for a top case and panniers especially for those who don't want them mounted all the time .Heated grips are a good accessory also as well as some led high beam/fog lights .Finally , don't disregard the usefulness of an automatic chain oiler like the pro-oiler or scottoiler .

    You covered a bunch of accessories, but not the one I need ---- Where did you find the rear carrier with the very neat side hand grips built into the frame that supported the rear accessory luggage plate? • @lgwappo
    @lgwappo 3 роки тому

    I went cheap on my NC700X. I don't ride off-road so didn't get a skid plate, crash bars or steel pegs. I don't do overnight trips so no luggage needed. Removed the stock windscreen to make it MUCH quieter but not an option for cold days. Reduced rear shock preload almost all the way to lower the seat height. So what did I upgrade? Got a SeatConcepts kit which I will install when my garage is above freezing in a few weeks, $180. Stock seat is ok up to 90 minutes.

    For those who want to go off road or riding in a country without super fast highway traffic there's a modification that will make this bike pull like a train.....
    Change the gearing by changing the front sprocket to 16 teeth, factory is 17 teeth and the rear sprocket to a 46 teeth, factory is 43 teeth.( That is for the NC750) . I always found the gearing too long for my taste and the 16/46 is very suitable for me. Having said that if you want your speedometer to be accurate it's best to install a Speedohealer from Healtech.

    • @FinnMikeonaBike
      @FinnMikeonaBike  4 роки тому

    • @Herzankerkreuz67
      @Herzankerkreuz67 4 роки тому

      @@FinnMikeonaBike
      That is a very important question. I really don't know the answer. My bike is a manual clutch. Having said that, the speedometer sensor is getting the information from the gearbox, not the rear wheel.
      But will a change in the final drive affect the automatic transmission, I don't think so, but I could be wrong.
      Here is what I would do ......
      First of all I would contact the Healtech customer service, I have done that before and they were very helpful. I know that the Speedohealer is a different version for the DCT version. And I am sure the are able to answer any subsequent questions as well.
      Safe rides 👍🏍

    Thanks.
    I am heading back to 'bikes' after making the silly mistake of swapping my excellent 2013 V-Strom 650 for a Yamaha Tmax 530 DX scooter.
    After 5 years of loving the Strom from new, I swapped it for a new Tmax 530 DX in late 2018.
    Mistake!
    I do not like the Yamaha. It's far, far too noisy. Not only the volume, but the pitch of the sound is annoying all the time. That's why it is basically unridden, at 1,085 kilometres, 2 years later. Well, if I can get back 2/3 of what I paid, fine.
    I swapped to the scooter as I was getting hand and wrist pain from the clutch lever on the Strom.
    I rented a NC700S (before they were all 750) manual, and thought it was flimsy and not well made compared to my Strom, so went for the Yamaha.
    To the future, though...
    Back to a bike bike, as opposed to a hybrid scooter bike.
    No clutch lever, no matter how nice the bike is, is an option for me now.
    Bad joints, ouch!
    So it looks like the 2020 NC750X DCT is the one to go for, as the DCT is not an option on the VFR800X.
    Shit seat, though, on the NC. Just awful.
    This video was a very useful guide for me, though at only 5 feet 7 inches tall, I don't have 'tall' problems :)

    I would remove the windshield all together if I was not worried the bike would look kinda dump with out it also having it will help keep rain off the display to ready my speed
    I don’t know if I’ll need the risers either
    The Seat upgrade is a Must upgrade on most Honda’s I’ve been on It’s just something Honda does to keep cost low after all in Vietnam to Thailand they have to sell bikes for less then $2,000 to get people in those poor county’s a bike to get on the road with so cutting cost on bikes for people who can buy these nicer Motorcycles is just how Honda can do it

    I see you are fairly tall. I am 189 cm, so 6cm taller and I am fairly lanky, i.e I long legs and arms. The only unfettled Honda that fits me is the Crosstourer. I'm considering what to get as a first bike and want a middleweight which won't bore me but will not scare me either. A faired SV650 would be good having sat on one. What modern middleweight bikes could I consider that will offer that sort of fit, size and wind protection? In spite of being an avid mountainbiker for 20 years, I don't really dig the adventure style of motorcycles and tend to buy things based on how they will be used rather than fashion. (would rather have a sports tourer but may have to go that way.) Tiger 1050 Sport is a bike I love the look of, but will be too much power.
    Great review incidentally. I discounted the NC750 due to the seat height but may reconsider

    • @FinnMikeonaBike
      @FinnMikeonaBike  4 роки тому +1

      I would rather not suggest any bike to another person as it greatly has to do with liking, comfort and riding style, and everyone has his own opinion.
      But some suggestions for a first bike:
      - you are going to feel much more confident if you are able to flatfoot it (get both feet flat on the ground)
      - a lighter bike is easier to handle and to lift up if dropped, a big plus also if the center of gravity is low
      - ANY bike is going to have enough power as a first bike
      - usually when you try out the "right one" you will know it straight away
      It is common that when you have your first bike you start to notice what you miss on the bike and where you actually want to go with the bike, and then you are much wiser when you upgrade to the next :-)
      Try different bikes, I'm sure you will find the right one for you!
      Ride safe 👍

      I am 196 cm and I did own a Crosstourer for 2 years. But I found out that I liked my wife's NC700 more. So I sold the Crosstourer and bought an NC750x DCT 2017 last february. Rode 4000 km with it until now. I love it. Changes I made: an upholsterer made the seat higher and nice horizontal (95 euro), adjustable footpegs (1-5 cm lower, 135 euro) and a windshield mount from Palmer Products, makes the screen higher, adjustable in hight and angle (150 euro complete, including a bar to mount your GPS on). And no, I am not a beginner, I ride since 1972, rode about 300.000km the last 20 years on heavy bikes (1100-1200cc) before I bought the NC. Easy and fuel-economic, that's the NC and that's what you want when you ride alle day!

      @@FinnMikeonaBike Kind of :) The prices are pretty much the same as in Europe, just about + 30% I'm just dealing with tire change. They want almost 800€ for Pirelli Scorpion Trail 2 + work, so I'm thinking about changing the tires myself.

      @@FinnMikeonaBike, the NC700 seat kind of pushed you forward and for long miles for consecutive weeks of riding, it was a bit of a torture. It kind of looks like the NC750 seat has been redesigned. I have not been able to verify that but did read something about it. Can anyone verify by a side-by-side comparison of the two?

      192,000 k basically 4 years of riding, I had my seat adjusted by a local seat repair shop in Thailand, cost was about 40.00, and recently put a new seat cover at 190,000 k for 15.00, longest day 1,000k, longest month 12,000k, this bike is capable of all conditions. It's not the best in any category but great in all categories!!!

      I have done a 4k on the motorcycle mostly cross country and I immediately couldn't stand the seat.
      I love the seat on my yamaha xmax.
      I put an airhawk on my nc750x and it's definitely better. Someday I may just replace the seat but more important mods for now and the airhawk is good enough.

    The NC750X is a "commuter bike", so the only thing that is really lacking is a more comfortable seat. If you want to do more adventure-like, off-road-like rides, the NC is not the bike for you. And the advantage of adding accessories is that you add the ones your really want, within your budget.

    I've learned not to bother buying a bike that doesn't fit me stock. I am tall too. Japanese bikes tend not to fit. European bikes tend to fit. I'd rather buy a used Ducait, BMW, Aprilia or KTM than buy a new or any Japanese bike that doesn't fit.
