I own a NC 750x DCT 2024 model and love it. I went from my Harley Heritage Classic which I love to the Honda due to health issues . I am 65 and have no regrets . I am still riding and this has extended my riding life. Put your ego away , be humble and enjoy whatever you want. Just ride your ride. No shame in that.
I'm 59 only been riding scooters for a year. I'm upgrading to the DCT for my 2nd bike. I looked at the Harleys but don't care for all that massive hardware. I think this Honda is perfect ❤
I own the standard shift version of this bike and love it! To be honest its the motorcycle poster child for " Jack of all trades, master of none ". I commute with mine every day, rain or shine, and use it to explore back roads on the weekends. Very practical, decent power for the highway or a passenger, excellent handling, great fuel economy and large tank. Lots of aftermarket to expand storage options and accessories as well. Definitely an under rated bike, and it doesn't help things when some sales staff at Honda dealers have never even seen one.
2020 NC DCT. Just did a 2500mile road trip through south central CO. I lead the pack of Harleys and Goldwings cuz I could scout out the gravel roads to see travelability. Fun all week rain or shine.
Haven't ridden in 30 years. 63 years old now... this is what I want. I don't want a big bike. I want to ride to work and back. Living in DFW, not having to shift in traffic is a HUGE plus. The storage is also a big selling point. I don't mind shifting... I drive an 18 wheeler for a living, but I don't want to... I suppose I'll go down to the dealership this fall, and see if they have any on sale.
I hate how you tube motorcyclists take one ride on a DCT bike and give opinions about it from one ride! Ride it to work everyday for a few months in some traffic, learn how to use the DCT for you (hint, shifting down in anticipation of a corner is as easy as dimming your lights or blowing the horn). Learn how the rider modes work, how to create your own, and the advantages of each. Then learn how to use your throttle and rear brake for slow speed maneuvers, instead of feathering the clutch, then you can truly give your opinion of the DCT clutching system!
This is my first bike in 3 decades. I redid plenty of training, including dirt-bike work and clutch-zone stuff. I could only get the DCT as that's all that's available in the US, and I'm glad I was forced to get it. I have never once said "Wow I sure wish I had a clutch." Was I reaching for it? Yeah, and I still do once in a while, but I don't EVER miss it. The majority of these bikes in EU are sold as DCT as well. This bike feels more powerful than it is because the torque is down low, and it's heavy, but only feels that way when you're pushing it around the garage or picking it up. The weight is down pretty low and it feels very nimble for its porky weight. The frunk is incredibly useful. My helmet fits right in, and you can get a lot of groceries in there. I've also installed a thunderbox and a 3-port USB charger with high-voltage USB-C in the frunk, and they tuck right into the recesses and don't reduce the useful capacity at all. I get 80 mpg on it. Suspension isn't great, but it can be improved for a grand or so. Seat is also no good for some butts, but that's not unusual. windscreen is small, but at my height my head is at least in clean air, chest is not getting pushed. I miss it when it's parked for winter. Also, oil changes are dead easy and valve check/adjust can be done with just a removal of the radiator -- the engine is canted way forward so the head's right there. Airbox change requires removing top cowl and some faffing though.
Commuter seems to be used as a derogatory term when it comes to Motorcycles for some odd reason. Maybe the better term would be Daily bike or if you can only have one bike. Reliability, frugal and practical can only be seen as positives in anything else you would buy, but in Motorcycling communities it gets the "boring lacks character" BS! Like something that makes funny noises and wont start sometimes in the morning is a barrel of Fun.
Mine takes me to work and back, on lots fun rides and on tours all over Europe. Reliable, inexpensive to run,and I find, with it´s torque and low center of gravity it makes a really fun tourer for Alpine passes and small backroads.
I have one and I absolutely love it! For city commuting it’s great not having up shift and down shift constantly. The storage “tank” is great and it’s gas mileage is astounding in standard mode. It’s not race fast but fast enough.
This is the safest best beginner bike because it offloads the rider from clutch and shifting duty so they can focus on all their surroundings, road conditions, and other potential hazards. You can then graduate to a more standard bike one you've got the basics of survival on two wheels sorted.
@@sabarusv9956 You obviously know nothing about this particular 750. It's far from a performance 750. The revs run out at 7500rpm and it only makes 58hp and 51 lb ft. This is very much a beginner friendly bike. Almost feels like a diesel the way the power comes on. Also has a very low center of gravity with how the engine is oriented.
I am a big heavy guy, bought this after 10 years of no bike riding due to illness, and man was I surprised. It ticks all the boxes, seat is good, don't miss the clutch, jaaah the suspension is ok, but power is there, it is very torque forward which I like being heavy and overall the best choice I made. Don't want any other bike. 👍😏
Frank I’m 73 and have had mine for 2 years, and you are going to love this bike. Needs a center stand and taller screen. Mine is the 6 speed, but they are no longer available. Enjoy
I've got the first year, 2012 nc700x with the manual transmission and she's over 82000 miles. Fantasticaly reliable and fun bike with so much utility. I put the givi trekker luggage on it so now I have 166 liters of storage available to me which is fantastic for trips with the girlfriend and commuting. I even used it to do my grocery shopping for about a year. Everyone's biggest complaint I hear is that it's slow but the 750 makes a bit more power. Personally it's plenty for cruising up to 80mph for me and it's comfy closer to 75. Plus you can't beat the 60-80mpg these bikes supply. I ride mine on the interstate and I ride it hard in town but I still get 60-65 all the time. Also black widow in the UK makes a full system exhaust for it that makes it sound fantastic too ;)
I get between 78 and 82mpg out of mine. mix of highway and city roads. Lowest centre of gravity of any motorbike I know (fuel tank under seat). Very popular in Europe. I bought my first in NC DCT in 2013. bought my second 6 months ago. Fantastic bike
If you change into one of the sport modes, you may find the DCT up and down shifts more like you would. The normal drive mode for the DCT up shifts wayyyy too early.
Looks like a great motorcycle for longer trips and freeway traveling. The storage idea seems really Smart to me. Never ridden a automatic before but it actually looks like fun.
I have just done over 6000 miles on my nc750dct around Spain, Portugal and Gibraltar. I only used the dct in the cities through the mountain roads it was manual shifting only. Best mod I put on the bike was a renthal brace bar to attach my sat nav and quad lock to. There is no room on the bars due to all the dct kit. Overall it performed really well. I had to buy the NC because of a broken left wrist and arthritis in my right knee. It was purchased a week before I went because using the clutch on my 1200GS was impossible. The NC really impressed me and I have decided to keep it. It's more than a one trip wonder.
Even in Automatic mode, you still have control of the gear shifts in that if the bike is holding on a gear for too long, you can press (+) to kick it into a higher gear immediately if the prevailing speed permits it. It's the downshift (-) even in Automatic mode that's particularly handy. You can simply tap (-) anytime to kick into a lower gear to perform a smoother overtaking if you don't want to jolt it into kicking down 2 gears by means of full throttle. You can also do the same kickdowns to initiate stronger engine braking for downhill situations. The fuel economy from DCT is really impressive. I'm riding the Honda X-ADV 750 DCT in STANDARD mode most of the time and I'm regularly getting between 27 - 30 km/l or 63 - 70 mpg.
My 2023 DCT downshifts one gear when I goose it to overtake (I don't ever go full throttle, just not that kind of rider.) That's probably why I get 80 m / us gallon on mine!
Great comment,I think a lot of people have no idea of how versatile the DCT is,as you just explained once you figure it out it’s absolutely brilliant….👍
@@geddstock I'm so impressed by Honda's DCT that I'm considering buying a Rebel 1100 DCT as a second bike. Went for two test rides and it's really pulling at my heart.
I am lucky enough to own a few bikes. If I could only own 1 it would be this bike. Stupidly versatile, phenomenal fuel economy, cheap as chips. Best bike out there IMO.
DCT version has been around since 2012 in the NC700X. I have the 2015 NC700X DCT, and the DCT is great on these bikes, it suits the relatively low rev range. The lack of a clutch and shifter is no big deal, I also have a BMW G310GS, an RE Himalayan, and a Aprilia RS660. The NC is the most relaxed bike to ride, I can see more and focus more on what is around me than worrying about what gear I need to be in.
If one has suffered an injury that prevents foot shifting (such as losing all sensory and motor function of the left ankle and foot in a prior accident), or starts to experience occasional arthritis in the left wrist, then to use your phrase Kase, this bike and the DCT are "actually amazing."
that's a great bike, already had two of those, the first one , in 2014, was better built than the 2020 model that I also had. It's major problem (specialy if loaded), it's the single brake disk in the front
It seems funny how this guy sounded disinterested at first, but the comments improved throughout the ride. I am looking at one of these, and it is this sort of content that makes me think I may be on the right track.
Yes the best beginner/commuting bike ever. Bought mine in 2015 a 2012 NC700x with 7K on it for 5k. Best investment I ever made. The helmet storage is very useful. My bike started at 60mpg and now at 55mpg because of my riding style. I bought a cb1000r in 2021 for more speed but the gas mileage is horrible only 25mpg because of the ecu flash. My 700x is my daily and my 1000r is my Friday,Saturday fun toy.
Test ride the DCT version loved it, brought the manual version at £1000 cheaper lol and loving this bike and Iv ridden many bikes before, things my retirement long distance touring machine thanks :)
I have an 87 honda shadow vt700c so this bike is like a direct upgrade mpg, the seating, suspension and maybe a little more power the only thing is the nc needs valve adjustment the old shadow has hydraulic and shaft drive too
If they add a little more horsepower to it, it would be amazing. I have a NC700x 2012 currently, the storage is soo handy, I love the bike, the design and look is also good, but a little more juice would make it perfect
I put 33,000 miles on a second generation NC750X (2018) and it had more horse power than the first generation NC. I now have a third generation 2024 DCT it it has more horse power than the 2018 had. You would love the third generation NC. This one is truly goldilocks as far as I'm concerned!
I just bought the DCT version in Norway. First bike I've owned since 2008 :D I don't think very many people miss clutch on a car either, most people only use electric cars these days. Kids growing up don't understand why we would even HAVE a clutch, it's so outdated. I think the future of bikes will be similar. Several electric bikes on the market now also.
Interesting machine for sure. Like you I would like something I can shift with a clutch but always good to be open to change. The storage box is nice too. There is a slightly used one (demo with 175 miles) at my local dealer for 9K, just don't know if I would want a motorcycle appliance. Probably great as a commuter but not so great as a weekend thrill machine.
I don't know if I could ever ride a bike I couldn't shift. It's like breathing. I don't think about it. Seems nice though. I do like the tank trunk thing though.
Same, but it's good to know if my shift leg gets amputated or my clutch hand gets injured or wicked arthritis down the road that these options exist, because I may prefer manual but if the other option is not riding at all I'll be glad it's available. 🏍
I bought ncdct 2023 and it seems that working 2 gears lower. Example standard mode 4th gear only if i lass 50 klms, 5th or 6th i never sow in my city. Sport mode 6th gear only if i pass 140 145klms. I think i have a problem, what do you think?
My 2015 750x, 175Kp/h top. Will go 160Km/h all day long, Newer models a bit more. I prefer to avoid the Autobahn but do often end up doing many long streches usually like 150-160Km/h
Well……I have ridden a few bikes……way back in the late 70’s and early 80’s…..last bike was an RD250LC…until a drunk driver ended it and almost me….so 43 years later I returned to riding……I own the 750DCT…..for me it is perfect, and to be honest that’s all that matters…each to their own, let’s just rejoice that we can still ride….you can’t compare this bike or any other bike….all have pros and cons, where I live roads are awful, too many cars….cannot go over 40mph on our roads, so little point having a brute of a bike….could it improve, of course, but then all bikes could improve on this and that….I actually prefer to shift using the flappy paddles, in sports mode, it’s very engaging….I would however add an extra disc up front and a better shock absorber……but will I ever get bored of it……not a chance, at my age I am just happy I can still ride, albeit much much more aware….
Im looking to replace my 2016 model bike does anyone know please of a new or very hardly used NC750X that is for sale, or might be here in the UK that does not have throttle by wire and does not have DCT and no neither honda or local dealers were able to help any help or mature suggestions would be most gratefully received and appreciated
NC700SA (the first version roadster (street)) 105000 Km -> 65000 miles (10 years) Fuel 3.3l/100 Km -> 71.28 mpg (!) real on the 65000 miles. Unbreakable motor. Fun bike.
I am in market for a manual transmission NC750X. Is 1000 euros cheaper than DCT. And with the 2000 euros incentives from govt. if I scrap my old car, it becomes a brand new under 6000 euros bike.
I was searching the net for a used NC750S and thought that the DCT is extra weight, complication and way more expensive, so no DCT fpr me. Then I found one for a good price, with DCT, and loved it! I'm so impressed with the dual clutch that after several 100K km on at least 30 bikes in 40 years of riding my next bike will be a DCT again.
Okay so worldwide wages being a thing - I will still prefer this bike over a Daihatsu ANY day. I spent £5500 on my 2020 750x with 4k miles on it, you can get plenty of decent cars used in the uk for a similar price - but non of them will put the smile on like a motorbike! selling my 2017 merc cla with 30k on it because the bike is a nicer option (not to mention more fuel economical and reliable)
Well it’s all subjective and It is a great bike… however, the Vespa Scooters will always be the “Best Commuter”. The sheer numbers alone will prove that. 👍🏼🙂
I don’t have one yet, but I’ve read that it’s around 100mph. I could be wrong tho. When I get one, I’ll let you know. I’m holding out to see if they refresh it for 2025.
My thoughts on this having bought the nc750 in a similar position: Nc750x for fuel consumption comfort and lower weight distribution. It also has a lower seat and is more manageable to handle. The T7 is faster, more "willing" at the cost of buzzier engine, lower fuel economy and it wears it's weight and seat higher. The crossplane engine sounds equally as beautiful as the parallel twin in the honda. It's basically an mt07 which I did my test on, and it's a great bike! The nc750 has a frunk which is invaluable for touring, it's renowned for being reliable and will lug you down motorways and winding paths across the world. It's one of "those bikes" that are so hardcore reliable they get 100k miles easy. The ONLY complaints for the nc750 i've heard are: windscreen can buffet you (mine has been swapped don't know) the seat is hard for some, which might need swapping for long tours (standard with pretty much any affordable bike these days) and if you have lots of bike experience, the power comes on like a diesel so it can be described as "dull" compared to a tracer. That is not to say it's not a great tourer and plenty of fun, but mileage and safety are more the aim of the game with the nc. Oh some complaints about stock tyres, not the worst but can do with an upgrade. You'd likely be happy with either, but it depends on your riding style, what you want from your tours (i.e relaxed or fast paced) how tall you are and your riding experience. Me at 5'10", fairly scrawny and fresh on 2 wheels, the nc750x represents great value for money, reliability and comfort while adapting from my smaller g310r to a bigger bike with a focus on safety and roadcraft. Hope that helps.
@@afish9207 at least in Colorado and Utah I’ve checked they have never had a 2023 in the USA .. even when you look at the website it only referenced the 2022 model .. so yeah try and see if you can find a 2023 ?
@@ray8328 Hi Ray, I love my 750X although I haven't done any serious distance its a great bike and exceptionally smooth compared to the jerky 850GS. It has enough power for the uk roads and also enough 'off the mark' speed. Overall its a great bike which I'd recommend.
The Honda Ridgeline of the motorcycle world! These are maybe a little too practical for its own good, a modern day Pacific Coast. If you aren't bothered by a bike that isn't designed to excite, these are fantastic. Completely unoffensive, these are.
What's weird is that almost every time I stop for gas, people ask me about the bike, even other motorcycle riders. Non-riders think it's cooler than it is, and other riders either know it and having a grudging respect for its sensibility, or they don't know why I'm pumping gas into my seat and want to know why.
Couldn’t agree more. People ask me about it a lot. Kick it into sport mode and it’s an blast and very exciting. It has plenty of power, very responsive and flickable in the corners, handles gravel and fire roads AND gets excellent mileage (and sounds great doing it as well). It seems a bit odd to correlate the impracticality of a bike as being a strength? All in the eye of the beholder I suppose.

that's a great bike, already had two of those, the first one , in 2014, was better built than the 2020 model that I also had. It's major problem (specialy if loaded), it's the single brake disk in the front
As someone who currently rides a scooter (ADV 150) for a first bike I'd consider upgrading to one.
It seems funny how this guy sounded disinterested at first, but the comments improved throughout the ride. I am looking at one of these, and it is this sort of content that makes me think I may be on the right track.
I'm surprised someone has not come up with a Jerry can that fits right into the "frunk".
The old CB 750 A was a 2 speed you could shift with your foot. But still no clutch.
With saddle bags,it looks like a good commute bike to me,can it really go off road though
some similarities with my 2003 BMW F650CS which has a storage area where the fuel tank would normally be.
Not designed for the young and feisty riders, it's for the older folks that swapped anxiety for arthritis.
I had one. Handles very well. Fun to ride too.
I am feeling this bike. Going to check out the local Honda bike dealership soon ..(It's been a toss up between the NC750 and the Rebel 1100.)
How about KAWASAKI VULCAN 650 S?
I've owned the Xadv750 , crf1000l and now the NC 750X all dct. There all great bikes....
Next I'll try the NT1100 :) or ATAS
I changed the front sprocket from 17 to 15. You will feel the extra power just there. I will never put 17 back on.
It's the best commuter out there, especially with DCT.
It sound,s good fun i,am actually considering getting one so am looking at a lot of reviews .
Still in CA so either s brake or thread protector.
What is the max speed for it i know its a like a communiter bike but still how fast does it go
My 2015 750x, 175Kp/h top.
Borrowed a bike like this when my Street triple rs had service. Pretty good bike. Good fuel efficiancy. Usable power. Seat is not good, too hard.
*Fuel consumption!*
How is it on sharp turns on twisties??
Ive always had the vibe it's a good commuter/touring bike. A cruiser for people that dont like the look of a cruiser.
Or have the back for a cruiser.
I agree.
In sports mode, it pulls like a frate train.
out the door its 10k, thats not cheap nor affordable. If it was like 6k-7k than it'll be affordable.
Dude do you guys have a CBR 650r video?
What brand/model gloves are you wearing, please?
What do you mean grab handles? You're their grab handle😂 The tank trunk ? Compartment is neat tho.
Im looking to replace my 2016 model bike
does anyone know please of a new or very hardly used NC750X that is for sale, or might be here in the UK
that does not have throttle by wire
and does not have DCT
and no neither honda or local dealers were able to help
any help or mature suggestions would be most gratefully received and appreciated
Maybe it's just me, but part of the thrill of riding bikes is shifting through the gears..
How is this bike on long rides?
NC700SA (the first version roadster (street))
105000 Km -> 65000 miles (10 years)
Fuel 3.3l/100 Km -> 71.28 mpg (!) real on the 65000 miles.
Unbreakable motor.
Fun bike.
I am in market for a manual transmission NC750X. Is 1000 euros cheaper than DCT. And with the 2000 euros incentives from govt. if I scrap my old car, it becomes a brand new under 6000 euros bike.
Go for the DCT. Once you recognize it's value you'll become a convert and will never go back to a manual. It's just too good.
Do I have automatic transmission in my car? Do I want to bee modern when it come to motorcycles?
You have to answer that for yourself.
Man with shaft or belt drive and cruise control this thing would be the world’s most practical bike.
0:55 he said $9.400 ?
You can buy a car in indonesia with that money. The car called Daihatsu Sigra
How fast you can go maximum speed mph
I don’t have one yet, but I’ve read that it’s around 100mph. I could be wrong tho. When I get one, I’ll let you know. I’m holding out to see if they refresh it for 2025.
i doubt you were alive when big red did the first 750 auto, no offence intended....tks for the review
Honda also made a 450 twin automatic.
Essentially a scooter in a bike frame.
Get a manual version . Much much better
@@eddzuki0 Nah, I wouldn't want to shift at 6K rpm all the time.
if i live cali ,always on the busy traffic ,i will think get one . but ..if i want fun things bike ,i never think about that
A bike thats all about auto-shifting and video of it on the open road??
This or the Tracer 7 for touring that's the question
You showed us where the gas tank isn’t, you think maybe showing us where it is would have been a good idea? Otherwise, great video.
Under the rear seat. Need to have a rag with you for fill-ups.
It's under the pillion seat, unlocks and pivots up no problem (well technically it runs under the whole seat, but access is at pillion)
Hey ask when Africa twin is coming to USA ????
Africa Twin has been available in the US since 2016...
@@afish9207 at least in Colorado and Utah I’ve checked they have never had a 2023 in the USA .. even when you look at the website it only referenced the 2022 model .. so yeah try and see if you can find a 2023 ?
I sold my BMW F850GS and bought a new NC750X Manuel which I collect in 2 days time.
How are you finding the NC750X compared to the F850GS (I have one)?
@@ray8328 Hi Ray, I love my 750X although I haven't done any serious distance its a great bike and exceptionally smooth compared to the jerky 850GS. It has enough power for the uk roads and also enough 'off the mark' speed. Overall its a great bike which I'd recommend.
Nice bike

I think id just do the manual even tho the auto is awesome
i'd just rather have moped controls, leave foot levers behind, and give me a left post brake lever
+25-30hv.👍👍👍👌👌🇫🇮🇫🇮
This is the minivan of motorcycles. Which is not a bad thing necessarily. If you need a minivan you get the minivan.
Funny you should say that! Bought mine a year ago and a friend asked me what it was like. I replied "It's like a two-wheeled VW camper van."

My first one was a M and now it's A!!
That's a Great Bike for You to take a Ride on!!!
Didn't know it had a foot brake and was missing the Left hand Lever!
Maxi-scooters Don't have a foot brake pedal , they have 2 hand Levers like a Bicycle!!
Very Weird but Cool too!
Good Video!!👍
I hope you do more Riding Autocycles!!🛵🏍
