What a lovely video to have on as I take care of my own plants. I’m new to it all, but it has made me happy. My studio is a jungle now. 🌴
I love putting on wildfern videos while I repot/water my plants also 😊
Have one hour left of work and was refreshing for something to keep me entertained so this is sooo perfect!!
ahh perfect timing indeed 🫶 thank you for watching x
Fern you’re not only absolutely a natural beauty but I so appreciate your kind and gentle demeanor. Thank you for your wisdom too!
Love these monthly updates. Keep them going dueing winter, because it can feel like such an unproductive time for plants. Always looking for those who can relate.
I always love your updates...you have such a beautiful collection,, don't know how you take care of everything!! You are one of the many plant youtubers that inspired me to start my own plant channel, I have a large collection but not nearly as many as you!🤣🤣Sometimes I hesitate to watch your videos because I always end up seeing something else that I want!! Anyway, keep up the good work, you have been in the game a long time and it inspires me to keep going!!💕💕
The DE looks like splash/freckles i love it lol 😅
You’ve got so many blooming and growing plants. It’s like having your own jungle.
Omg I’m also dealing with the exact same pest problems…. Thrips, mealies, a bit of spider mites and some scale too! I always knew about diatomaceous earth but just recently purchased it after seeing you and a few other have used it. I’m crossing my fingers and hoping it works!! Just wanted to let you know you’re not alone on this pest journey!! Thanks fern💖🪴☮️
I'm so glad to see you doing effective pest control! I love to binge watch creators, and I couldn't believe how long different pests were still in your collection!
Hey girl, just wanted to comment to let you know that the DTE will work better dry....especially with the mealy bugs. I grew up on a farm with massive gardens and we have always used it. If you coat the leaves and the tops of the soil with DRY DTE after a water, you might see better results. This is my absolute favorite plant channel, and your plants are beautiful.
Your hoyas are so gorgeous! I’m struggling finding the right light situation for my Hoyas 😂 what direction does your big Hoya window face that you have all those hanging Hoya??
i’ve been WAITING for a majestic update!!! i just got one after seeing yours before it got chopped and i’m so happy to see an update on her
Hi there. Thank you for your videos. Love spending mornings off work drinking my coffee and watching them. I had a lighting idea for you. I have done this and it's working great for my anthurium veitchii and my Thai con monstera. The new black cased Barrina bar lights are magnetic, so I just put it on the outside frame of my Rudsta cabinet facing out (no sticking pads at all, easiest thing ever) and its practically unnoticeable because it matches the cabinet. The light faces out so any plants next to the cabinet get excellent light from it. You can do this with your milsbo's.
Yes, please continue to update us with your beautiful collection throughout the winter. Morning Have a blessed 🪴 day.
Marisol
thank you 😊
I put DE on top of my soil in between waterings, it’s helped so much. Down side is it looks odd! But… 🤷♀️
YESSSSSSS THIS IS PERFECT TIMING!!!
🙌 yay enjoy!!!
Thank you so much for your reply. I re-ordered another one and I'll be sure to get an aroid mix. Look forward watching your videos. I love to watch them before going to bed or when I'm on the train on my way to work. You're a great inspiration. ! 🪴
For your Thai Con light issue I had a similar issue and I use an IKEA hanging wire pendant light fixture with a powerful SANSI grow bulb. Everything under and near it couldn't be happier!
Love your planty updates Fern; thanks for sharing!
I love waking before everyone else in the house and watching on of your videos with a cup of coffee. Morning mom win!
Your silver sword in the cabinet looks great! I just got up the courage to do a chop and extend on my silver sword last night. I’m so excited to see her continue sizing up. She still fairly juvenile leaves, but they are getting progressively bigger. I took single cuttings of the bottom part and made two little pots of silver sword. I’m so excited😊
I had 3 plant utuber’s to come up today but I saved you for last because don’t we all save the best for last! I love everything about you Fern you are my fav❤❤
I've been spraying my plants with citric acid solution. This spring I didn't even have too much pest problem... with a collection of over 4yo plants I had problem with less than 10 plants, and was not even bad. It haven't hurt my plants at all. I tried diatomaceous but I don't think it worked at all. I also use a stem cleaner on my plants to blow away dust. Don't worry, if you don't put the nozzle too close the steam is just warm at best. Plants love it. That blows all the pests already. I have way too many plants to use a hand spray. When I want to mist them with citric acid or hypochlorous acid I use a paint sprayer that I got just for it. Makes the job super fast.
Rhipsalis red coral is such a lovely plant - I have two and they’re beautifully sun stressed. The round things are the flowers I think
Another great video ! I just can't imagine how much work goes into making these videos to be perfectly honest with you. I super appreciate it. I can't wait to watch your videos all of them constantly being played at my house, but they work that must go into these it must be like hours and hours and hours, super appreciate the information. I think there should be a little bit more giggling. Lol
What a sweet collection!! 👌
Can’t believe it says “22 seconds ago”🥹🥹 Every week I look forward for the new wildfern video!!
awe thank you so much and I hope you enjoy this one!
Rhipsalis are my new favorites, they give such jungle vibes
I would be excited to keep getting monthly updates through winter! Even if it’s just to commiserate about which plants are mad about it 😂
Always a nice time, thank you Fern
thank you for watching :)
The weird round thing on the red cactus rhipsalis is the seed pod. You'll get them all over eventually. If you squeeze them you will see the seeds.
absolutely loving the monthly plant walk throughs
Love your update videos I look forward to them every month❤
One more video with fern 😍👌🏻 You're the best! ❤ Hope you are feeling great!
Your rhipsalis…the green round thing on the side is normal. It’s a bud! I’ve never seen them bloom so idk if they do or not. Only had mine for a year now. They develop all along the trim of every leaf. They are also beautiful plants when sunstressed! I have one that’s completely red and they’re beautiful that way. I have one, wish I could post a photo for you to see. The leaves grow long and strappy. Also, if you remove them from direct sunlight, the Sun stressing quickly fades away if you prefer it green 😊
I can't thank you enough for the DE idea! I thought once it got wet it didn't work anymore even when dried. I've always just sprinkled it on the soil. In the last month I've had a fungus gnat outbreak (i think maybe my drops are no longer working...may be too old now or maybe they got too hot?), and thrips, and spider mites. I'm very familiar with thrips as I've had a pretty big outbreak before. But these snuck up on me on most of my monstera. And then most of my ficus got spider mites. Anyway, spraying DE looks so horrible, but it is working on EVERYTHING. I think I'm gonna leave it on for a few more weeks before washing everything and seeing what happens. Love your channel, you are so helpful...hard to find Canadians to follow (who don't have access to systemics 😜)!
I got an Easter cactus this past easter and was so excited. One of my coworkers had told me a few months prior that she had gotten an Easter cactus and didn’t think it was near as hardy as her Christmas cactus cuz hers ended up rotting and dying. So when I found my Easter cactus I was determined to show her it was probably just her. 😂😂😂😂 boy was I wrong. First plant I’ve killed in years. It was all me tho I can’t blame the plant. I forgot to water it and then after that it was down hill from there.
Hey Fern! I love your videos, you have so many beautiful plants!💕💕😊
awe hi thank you sooo much! 💚🌿
I just bought a vittsjo shelf and barrina lights yesterday ❤ safe to say you’ve inspired me
Ahhh so exciting! It's a great shelf :)
Really enjoy your update videos and would like to see them continue monthly as the year progresses 🪴🪴
Thank you so much fern😂👍💯👋
For the DE I’ve always just sprinkled a small layer on top of the soil or the stems. I’ve never had meely bugs tho, only spider mites. But maybe it’s worth a try because it’s never damaged any plants that way.
Love love love your update videos 😍😍😍
Thank you Natasha 🤗🌿
28:26 the jungle cacti should be fine! As long as the base touching the substrate doesn’t turn translucent and mushy, a plant like the red coral can pop roots from anywhere!
hello fern I think that showing the plants in autumn and winter would be good to see the evolution I live in Belgium and watch all your videos even if I speak in French
I’d love to see another anthurium update/care video 🪴💫💕
Maybe if Barrina made a white floor light it would be less conspicuous.. your plants are doing well.. Mine have not grown as much this summer as previous. Not sure the reasons.. but my orchids are always doing something so that makes me happy. Thanks for the update. That berry on the red coral rhipsalis is seeds.. mine had a lot and I let them fall into pot and now my plant from CSN is huge and loving life
Always fun to watch your videos when I am working on the weekends! Thanks for the updates. :)
Thank you so much, glad to hear you enjoyed 😊
you always upload at the perfect time
Easter cactus likes higher light..😊
I’ve really like the update video. It was fun to see the changes.
You can always wrap a warm washcloth around your leaf to help your stuck leaf unroll. It will get it unstuck but won't open it completely. I have to help my Monstera sometimes or the leaf will tear where it's stuck.
What a pretty bloom I’m waiting for another Hoya besides my multiflora to bloom.
Pests 🤕!!! I recently found aphids on my Maiden Hair fern. Though late winter, I have placed it outside in a sheltered spot to let mother nature do her thing. Love your Ping garden!!!
Thank you for your update. I am trying DE, also, but I just brush it on with a small paint brush. We will see what happens.....
The round thing on your rhipsalis is a berry, you could take it off when it’s ready and try growing it from seed
😮
So happy when you post a new video especially one like this 😍😍
I’m sad about your adansonii! I look forward to the comeback! And that glorious 😍😍😍! Wowzers! Looking insanely beautiful!
Hi Fern! What’s the update on your new Ghostbuster’s watering system? Do you like it or are you still taking your plants to the sink? I’d love to hear your thoughts. Ty
I love it! I ended up taking the nozzle off of it, so the water pours out rather than spraying. It works great and makes watering so much faster for me :) battery lasts long too.
I want peduncles!!! Yes, I know my plants are only a few months old. But "D*mnit, Jim", I'm a planty parent, not a doctor! Ha, ha 😂
I feel you with the alocacia zabrina, I’ve had a similar experience with my alocacia azlanii, She is finally starting to hold onto a few leaves, but boy has it been a journey!
Such a beautiful place
What a great way to start my saturday ❤
Just an FYI: look up the use of DE. It is often used as treatment in gardens. You have to reapply it after each rain. That means is does not work wet. The DE works via sharp shards that make up the dry DE. Once wet, the DE expands and the shards break apart, becoming useless. They do not reform when it dries again. If anyone is spraying it on, as is mixed with water, your efforts are wasted. Dry DE should NEVER be handled without wearing a mask: very dangerous in the lungs. NEVER use on velvety leaves because it gets stuck and is near impossible to get out of the leaf surfaces.
What’s your source? Everything I can see online says it functions again once it dries out after getting wet. And I’m tempted to believe that since it’s been working well for me!
University of Minnesota Extention is just one. Other state gardening extension services have the information. It even says that high humidity can damage it's effectiveness. Many of the sites that are not stating the correct way to use it seem to be the ones that promote DE use. Garden extension services just give information and are not promoting a product. I am not being malicious in my information: I have known this about DE since the 1970's. Don't understand how the facts about it got changed online.
@@bkrbkrl I’ll have to look into that, thank you! For now I’m going to keep using it because it’s working great, thankfully.
@@wildfern I am glad. If sprayed on wet, I would think it would at least smother the little buggers. Good luck to all.
It does not work wet. But once she dries, it works again. Just the small period of being wet while water is evaporating is when it doesn’t work. That’s what I have read anyways-but the velvet leaf thing is true, it loves sticking to them!! Might be worth it tho honestly
Wrap a piece of dampend paper towel around the leaf that is not unfurling, it's supposed to help them open up. Don't leave on for too long.
I enjoy updates! Whenever it feels right to you.
I've had a couple mealies show up again on 2 of my Hoya. I think trying some diatomaceous earth, at least in the soil is worth a try. Thank you for that recommendation.
Chemical x is cool 🖤❤️🧡💛💚💙💜😎 I'm wearing pixiestix this week. 💚🤍💕. Ty Fern ✨🌿
Update videos are great 😀🇨🇦
I love the monthly updates! But honestly I will just watch any video you make LOL
thank youuuu 🥹💖
You’ve got such nice shaped leaves on your scindapsis and they are trailing. They are so big.
Thank u for taking time to answer my question.
great video! thanks💟
i do enjoy monthly updates.
Awesome as always Fern!!! You rock❤
Thank you so much 🥹🌿
Idk if you've shown it before but can we see a view of your hanging plant window from the outside? I know when I see mine it's so cute to me for some reason lol so I'd love to see yours.
I love that begonia!!
the round bulb on the rhipsalis is what they bloom from! i couldn’t tell if it already bloomed but it might be getting ready to bloom!
woah begonia fanny moser looks amazing!
I love your jewel orchid!😅❤
thank you! it's sooo pretty :)
The fact your Thai and Ghost are basically touching now. 😮
I can't believe how faaasssttt your hair grows. Beautiful!
Also, I thought the diatomaceous earth was a powder? Are you mixing it with water? Ratio?
Thank you
Fern I finally took the plunge and ordered some of the mollys mix. I hope it works out well for me. I would love to know what the clear heavy hooks are you use in your cabinet. The smaller ones I have in mine won't hold my racks. Thanks for the beautiful and helpful video ♥
I love the updates videos! I want to know what happen with you plants! Either good, bad or nothing.
Ah Fern, as far as pests go, the struggle is real…
It sure is 😩
29:07 I think that’s a berry. I have a different Rhipsalis, and I get berries on that one too. They will produce seeds in the berries 😊
Maybe you already know but if you can afford it mother has now an extendable light available for preorder (discounted) if you wanna keep using that brand without the stand :)
I’ve got to repot my monstera. Not really repot but take out and straighten out the pole and extend before putting back. I the pot
Have you used systemic granules? That is one of the things that have helped me keep pests at bay.
Oh my gosh Cadence. I love her so much 🥰
She’s such an angel 😇
Your pingdom looks lovely. The ones on the pumice may cover it one day.
Im painting the leaves with a paint brush. Then it doesn't have to be washed off. If i could shake it on or dust it somehow it would be faster application.
You should go for another cabinet - the rudsta is a great cabinet, i have two and a milsbo 🙈 haha
Eeeeep hahah 🙊 I may have to do it…
Ilove longiloba silver, itssoo pretty 😍😌
Love your videos, if you didn't done them for two months it would seem odd not to see you. But it's your time, your knowledge, and your decision. But you will be missed.
Your collection is so pretty! I always find a new plant to put on my wish list after watching your videos! How do you decide to trellis a Hoya or let it trail?
Thank you! I decide on a variety of factors - what space I want to put the plant, sometimes I will look up photos of other peoples to see what they've done, just whatever I'm feeling haha :) Sometimes I switch them too, I've taken some off of the trellis and let them grow trailing to see what I prefer.
I think Plants By Melissa put all her problem Alocasia in pon and now they’re all doing great. Maybe semi-hydro would work for that Zebrina?
That’s a good idea, I should try that! Thank you 😊
Pretty red rhipsalis. I think the green thing is a seed pod
I’m gonna use the cup system. I need to do something. And I’ve only got one to take care of
I usually just sprinkle DE in the soil, never tried using it as a spray. Found a few spider mites on a couple plants. Might try that. However, what anthurium is next to your Thai Con??? 😍😍
I would love to see the updates every month, but if the plants aren't doing much and it is a lot of work to film and edit, then I would definitely do it every 2 months or something.💚💚
That leaf looks like a piece of copper. So shiny
