This is the video I've been needing! I hate the way my hair looks when I air dry, but I never have time to diffuse for an hour. I can't wait to try this! Thanks (as always) for another helpful video!
Thank you Courtney!! 1,000 thumbs up!!!! You are a lifesaver. Now that the weather is cold, I did not know how to dry my hair without my arms falling off from pain and fatigue! After having stick straight hair my whole life, suddenly I have wavy hair. Surprise! Weird in your 50s not to know how to manage your own hair, but here I am. Your tips have been so helpful, and this drying routine is the best! Whew. Dried my long hair and arms survived. Who would have thought of using the counter? Blessings! ❤
Same here, waves came in during late 30 early 40s. Courtney pretty much saved me. 😅 I had no idea what to do with it, whole texture changed and none of my regular products or methods worked. Standard curly methods don’t work well for me, but Courtney’s methods that are more towards wavy hair works a treat. I have mostly 2B hair with some splashes of 2c and the odd 2a here and there.
I've been considering getting a hairdryer with a diffuser attachment as I don't currently have one. Do you have a favourite one that you'd recommend from your collection of dryers? For reference I have 3b curly hair about the same length as yours and it takes ages to air dry. Thanks. Love your informative fun content
Thanks for this video! Diffusing is hit or miss with me as I’m still learning how to do it the best way for my hair. Since you and I have a similar curl pattern, I’m anxious to try this method. Love your channel, you always share such great information and I love the science behind it as well! Thanks for all you do, much love 💗
Question: I just diffused my curly hair for the second time, following your directions-Thank you so much!-but I was caked in sweat by the end. What do you do to combat the sweat? Thanks again! This video was vastly helpful! :)
I have a bone spur in my shoulder. There are days I can not hold my arm up the time it takes to diffuse without a significant amount if pain. I use a lot of a strong hold gel on those days and accept it will be what it will be. I save the diffusing for days I have appointments or are meeting friends. I always get compliments when I diffuse. Will be trying this diffuse technique on the next wash day!
Great new tips! Glad to see you're wearing ear buds also. No one mentions it, but blow drying near your ears can cause hearing loss over time. I try to use ear plugs. 🙉
I tried this diffusing technique the other morning and I looooove the results I got and how quick it took compared to how I did it before. My only issue is I sometimes deal with back pain, and I was kinda sore after doing this. 😭 How would you do this without as much bending over?
My hair is waist long, and i also NOW know why air drying takes like 8 hours. Heck, i thought it was only me! In the summer though, I will say it takes much less time to air dry. I'll give this technique a try, 8 hours is entirely too long, especially in the winter, to air dry
Thank you Courtney! I've been working my way through your videos. I recently cut my hair shorter and there were curls; I had no idea. I have very thin hair and losing it at my crown, so hoping I can find a way to cover my baldish areas a little better.
I will give it a try. I have dense hair. I normally diffuse for about 30 minutes, or untill my black orchid diffuser head falls off for the 3rd or fourth time. If I can cut my time down by 10 to 15 minutes I will be happy. I also have back issues. I will have to sit. I hope it all works out. Great video! Have a great Thanksgiving!
Worth a try! I've never quite figured out a good way to diffuse my hair. It usually looks great right after diffusing, but the results don't hold up as long as if I'm air drying. No idea why. But since it takes longer for my hair to dry in winter, I'm going to try this one out
I put a whiff of volume hairspray on my hair every now and then during diffusing along with a bit of salt water spray. Helps my hair to hold up nicely.
My hair hates salt water spray. It all just gets sticky. I have barely wavy, fine 2A hair. As for hairspray, the only curly hair friendly one I know of (and could get my hands on here in Germany) is the Curlsmith one, but I can't afford that
Thanks! I am going to have to try that diffusing technique. I am all about cutting down time in my routine where I can. My hair is about your length, and even with diffusing, it takes me almost 45 minutes to get 90% dry.
Before really putting the time into styling I would keep my hair in a towel and then let it air dry but I stohated the wet hair, especially when it's cold. Plus I didn't know how my hair would really look before leaving the house. Since curly styling, diffusing has been a must! I can't baby wet curls while chasing my toddler around. And it's nice to have on wash day a large block of time when family isn't allowed to bug me. I also put earbuds in and listen to podcasts while diffusing.
Hi Courtney! I find my fine hair always looks its best when I get a rocksolid cast. But when I diffuse to 100% the cast that was there just disappears and my hair turns out floofy and falls out quickly. What would you say the reason is for that happening? I've read some wavies say that the pixie diffusing breaks up your cast, is that correct? 😊
That's great and interesting Courtney! I have a question for you... The timer that you had going in the video was that accurate for how long it took you, or you videoing it in fast speed?
I sped up the video because I didn’t want you guys to sit through 11:30 minutes of real time diffusing. The timer is 100% accurate to how long it actually took me.
I love this hammock technique. It still takes me 45 mins or more to diffuse but my hair is past my waist! But the diffusing is the difference between curls and a lions mane!
I love diffusing. I cut my hair shorter which reduced the time. I also read my Kindle while diffusing because I diffuse seated and mostly upright There's no way my back would let me bend over that long.
Wow my hair takes my hair air dry about 1 to 2 hours and doesn’t tend to frizz where is if I diffuse I can get a dry in like 10 minutes but it tends to frizz tend to love to let my hair air dry but I can understand if it took four hours I would hate it
Team diffusing all the way! I love the shrinkage I get when I diffuse!
🙌🏻🙌🏻🙌🏻
This is the video I've been needing! I hate the way my hair looks when I air dry, but I never have time to diffuse for an hour. I can't wait to try this! Thanks (as always) for another helpful video!
Ohhh hope it helps!!! Let me know how it goes!
Just learned something new- I never heard of hammock diffusing. I am trying this today. Thanks Courtney !
Love when I get to learn something new too! Love this! Hope it works out well!

Yes! Who would have thought the counter would be helpful here! Glad this helped! Blessings to you as well!
There's no way I could air dry and get good results. Not only would it take all day but my hair would turn out super flat!
Same 🙌 But with diffusing👌👌
My waves go straight if I diffuse them but very wavy if I air dry

She's done several hairdryer review/comparison videos. You can search for them and see which she likes, and why!
Def going to give this a try. My current routine works nicely but i’m always up for trying new things 👌👌

Thank you so much for this video! I haven't diffused in a long ling time, but will try it again😊

Good point!
What a fantastic approach! Trying this next wash!
Ive been air drying and that just is not working well for me! Wow, that was fast! Thank you!!
I definitely don’t have time to air dry I am with you all the way on that one ❤😄
Okay, this kinda works. Took 20min yesterday, but need some practise!
I'm glad I have a standing desk because leaning over like that is not for me. So many good tips! Thanks, Courtney.

I just get on the car and direct the car heat on gentle towards my hair until it dries- nice waves, same effect as a diffuser and pretty handy!!
Great tip!
I know you said its not about the actual dryer/diffuser but is there one you'd recommend? I'm in the market for a new dryer

I tried your method and I love it. Got extra curls and it was fast. Thank you for sharing.
That is so exciting!

Interesting! That’s the routine I follow but without the hammock, I can’t wait to try that too!

That is exactly what I was thinking to suggest!
I wonder what kind of hairspray Courtney and others would suggest?
@@SwavyCurlyCourtney What kind of clean hair spray would you suggest? Could give is some suggestions for fine hair?
My hair hates salt water spray. It all just gets sticky. I have barely wavy, fine 2A hair. As for hairspray, the only curly hair friendly one I know of (and could get my hands on here in Germany) is the Curlsmith one, but I can't afford that
I tried that technique now and I have to say it's a game changer! 🎉 Thank you Courtney.. ❤
You're so welcome! Glad it helped and is a gamechanger for you! Wohoo!

I’ve been looking for how you diffuse your hair. Thank you!

This is really helpful, thank you!
OMG just tried this technique and it's the best!!!!
Glad you loved it! Yay!
What hair dryer and diffuser do you like the best? Thanks
Search her videos for hair dryer! She's done a few different videos comparing dryers.
That's great and interesting Courtney! I have a question for you... The timer that you had going in the video was that accurate for how long it took you, or you videoing it in fast speed?

How do you like the Curlsmith towel ? Is it similar to the perfect hair care towel? TIA!
You are amazing!! Thanks so much for this! I'm so excited to do my hair now lol . Also the jokes are gold 😂 💜
LOL Thank you!
Wow I will give this a try! Thanks Courtney 💕
Hope you like it!
Air trying does not work for me. Gives me more frizz. I have to defuse and get great results. Thank you for this video.👍🥰
Love your videos, thank you!!!
You are so welcome!
Okay this seems genius!!
Thank you…..love this
So glad!
Hi. When you are scrunching, is the speed hight?
Where did you get your towel?
Thenks, i would like try your way to diffusing. My hair it's coarser then your hair and it's take me less time then your hair a air drying.
Off topic but, I love your shirt
Awww thank you!
I love diffusing. I cut my hair shorter which reduced the time. I also read my Kindle while diffusing because I diffuse seated and mostly upright There's no way my back would let me bend over that long.
Mmm I might try this tomorrow.
My hair takes a LOOONNNG time to air dry as well. It can also take me a half hour to diffuse, but it's worth it.
I want to try this but being bent over like that may not be so easy for those of with back pain. Im going to try though!
I would say do what is going to work for you and not hurt you!
The pizza hipster joke put me in a good mood after a long shitty day, that's an accomplishment lolol! Thank you for all the tips ❤
You can buy a dryer stand to make it easier on your back.
Pls do shark flex style diffuser vs Dyson air wrap diffuser ❤️❤️
Oooo ok I have compared the Shark flex style to the Shark Hyper air. But I don't have the Dyson air wrap diffuser to compare to. 😭
What curl products did you use?
This video will be coming out Wednesday next week! And I’ll show you exactly which products I used, and how they performed in my hair.
Omg this is so helpful! My hair looks best diffused but it takes me 30min or more and I just can’t.
I’m really excited that you found this helpful!
Wow my hair takes my hair air dry about 1 to 2 hours and doesn’t tend to frizz where is if I diffuse I can get a dry in like 10 minutes but it tends to frizz tend to love to let my hair air dry but I can understand if it took four hours I would hate it
Awesome
❤❤ excellent
Thanks a lot 😊
I enjoyed the jokes😂
Yeayyy!
YESSSSSSSS
I love diffusing, just hate the crown. It always looks like crap 😭😊
my hair takes over 8h to air dry. My husbands takes 10 min
That's a different towel...
You are observant! It is the CurlSmith microfiber towel
