I agree - to some people animals are their whole lives. I can't put into words how much I adore my dog and animals in general. There's a special place in Hell for people who mistreat animals.
It drives me mad the way people look down their nose at people who are grieving their pets when they pass away because its 'just a pet'. I hate employers that wont allow a day off on compassionate grounds when someone's pet dies! I also think it's completely shocking how little the law protects animals in general too. If someone killed my dog I would genuinely want prison time for them! I don't see how it's any less heinous to kill a defenceless animal than a human?
My dog is not 'just a dog'. He's a vital part of my family unit; I know people are very critical when owners express that their pets are their babies/children too. I have a child and I obviously would put my child's welfare above my dog's but it would agonise me to do so. Its incredible to see Roxy be given a voice too. I would feel the same if I was in Caroline and her family's shoes. It's good to see the world and the law move in the right direction for the protection of animals.

I think he was jealous of the affection she gave the dog, more than she gave him. That's why he killed the dog and referred to the dog as ''it'' in court. Who refers to their own pet as ''it''?

    • @haileyranson8255
      @haileyranson8255 10 місяців тому

I totally agree with this! My husband - who is a brilliant, loving husband - is sooooo jealous of the relationship I have with my dog 😂 He's always saying I love the dog more and that he gets more cuddles, fuss and attention than he does. He's probably right to be fair 😅
In all seriousness though my husband is genuinely a bit sore about sharing me with my dog at times so it seems totally reasonable that an abusive, possessive and narcissistic husband could be driven to these extreme actions and emotions. Anything that threatens their ego is unacceptable to them; not to mention that they are so fragile that they enjoy having power and control over more vulnerable people. So he probably got a sick thrill by murdering that poor, defenseless dog 😢

That's the only thing we can be proud of is it is a criminal offense to abuse an animal here. People get arrested and pay fines, if it's bad enough-beating an animal, you loose your right to own any animals again.
Some people were getting dogs, just to beat on them. Not too long ago there was a man who was arrested and lost his service dog because he got pissed off about something and beat the crap out of the dog. One of the neighbors put their ass on the line to go to the man's window and record him screaming and beating the dog with the hook side of a leash. By the time the spca in the area got there, the man had calmed down and was trying to "fix" the pups wounds up. Similar to what an abusive husband does to reel his wife back in. So he went to jail for a while, and cant even have gold fish now.

Coming from someone who lost their mom at 3 years old… it’s never easy to loose your parent at a young age especially when you don’t have any memory of them. Everyone tells you how wonderful that person is but… you’ll never get to experience it or remember it the way they do. You’ll never stop questioning and wondering about the person who created you, and if it’s your mother, the person who held you inside their body for months and bonded with you. Now that I am a mother now, it makes me feel so sad to think how sad my mother must have felt to know she was dying. Poor Caroline didn’t even know that she would be leaving her baby, but I am so glad that Lydia is with her loving grandparents. This is so tragic and I hope Babis gets what he deserves, one way or another.

I am Greek and watched this go down in real time. Everyone here was shocked when the "robbery" and murder became known and police was searching for the people behind this like crazy. I am not surprised they caught a foreigner and tortured him for days. Want to throw the police and everyone else off? Blame a crime on someone who's not Greek. And it will work even better if the person you accuse is of Slavic or Arabic or Asian descent.
And I am also not surprised the policemen got to keep their jobs, unfortunatelly, police violence is a problem here. They can do wahtever they want, harrass, hit and even kill someone, and they'll most likely to walk away with it or receive a smaller sentence (for example, in 2008, a policeman murdered a teen boy in cold blood. His legal team did everything they could to prove that they boy somehow had it coming, or that the bullet wasn't actually aiming at him. He went to jail, and while he should have received life, a few days ago, after 13 years, he got out because, before murdering the boy, he was a stellar citizen!!)
Most people didn't buy the robbery gone wrong story. I myself didn't believe it, because he was making funeral arrangements less than 24 hours after the discovery of her body. Like, excuse me, but I believe specialists should have a look at it first!! And I know that many people believe that he had help at least at staging up the scene of the "robbery". I've also heard people theorizing different things, such as that he killed her for her money, that the couples' therapist they were going to, was his lover and right hand at staging up the scene, and many other stuff.
I don't know whether I believe any of these theories, but I am 100% sure that he liked her for her looks, money and the fact that at 15, she would basically go along with whatever he was telling her. At that age, with little life experience, blissfully 'in love' she was very vulnerable to him. To me, it's not a coincidence that their fights escalated once she was a bit older and could see that his behaviour wasn't right. Plus, I believe that he killed her puppy both because he is a freakin' psycopath, and because it was something that she love and wanted it gone. I am a bit surprised that he didn't harm his kid as well, but that would make the robbery gone wrong story even harder to believe, plus, I am certain that he was viewing the child as being his (you know, in the way narcissists view things and people as being theirs, not just in the biological sense, hope I'm making sense).
During trial, he has been absolutely horrible, blaming Caroline for 'making him kill her' because she was 'mentally unwell, abusive' and so on. And of course, he has his supporters. Of course he does. Women are sending him letters and some of them have even gone on camera defending him, saying that he does not deserve life in prison and that it was 'just' a crime of passion. And then there are those who totally buy the "Caroline was abusive" story. A couple of months ago, I saw a tweet by a man saying "We don't know how abusive that foreigner, Caroline, was to Babis. Who knows how much she pushed him over the edge!"
Anyway, sorry for the long ass comment and my terrible English. Your video was great!!

My daughter and her partner visited recently, staying in my small home. Earlier this week, as I was going through nightly routine of turning all lights off and opening most of the windows (that's what we do in California spring-fall, in our Mediterranean climate), I tripped over their stuff and took a fall over top of it all. Nothing major, but I bruise when you look at me so knew there'd probably be a few colorful spots.
    .
I saw my ob-gyn today. Going into the room, the nurse looked directly into my eyes and asked me about the big bruise on my arm and the side of my face. "What's with the bruises?" she asked, and then "Do you feel safe at home?" I explained about my daughter/her partner and their stuff. When the doc came in we went through the same kinda questions again, this time with a big bruise on my leg.
    .
It's wonderful that ALL docs/medical folks (plus teachers, cops, firefighters, EMTs, social workers, etc) are mandated reporters. At least here in California.
    .
    .

Narcissists often use therapy to further gaslight the victim, and to try to get the therapist "on side" in the smear campaign of the victim. This guy is a real nasty piece of work
Edit: as I listened further I thought that Caroline may have also shown reactive abusive towards him. This is how narcissists try to convince others that they are being abused by the victim. Makes my skin crawl.

I just found your channel and have been binge watching ever since. I love the psychological way that you handle everyone involved. I’m a proud mom of my fur baby Zico, a Portuguese Water Dog. He’s my life and I’d absolutely take a bullet for him. Before I was able to have him I worked with a San Francisco SPCA - the first no kill organization in the USA. My role was preparing all the dogs that came in (no matter where they came from, what they’ve unfortunately been through) to become better doggies suitable for going to their forever home. I can honestly say that it’s the most rewarding thing I’ve ever done. I have zero tolerance for animal abuse and believe that, unlike humans, dogs are always worthy of a second chance. I got really close to this one doggy named Lucas (a big part of my job is walking, playing and just loving them). Finally the day came when a wonderful family had been carefully screened to make him a part of their family. It was a bittersweet moment but I knew my job was done. A couple of weeks later I saw them on the street and Lucas came running to me. I cried tears of joy. He was so happy so loved and his new family was wonderful.🐶❤️
Just got to the point where the puppy is dead. Off with his head!!! No need to hear anything else.

Unfortunately the last decade in Greece, they never get too harsh sentences. No matter how cruel the crime is. It's insane. The life sentence is actually 25 years in prison that can be decreased even to 15 years because of some laws. It was almost the same case in the past, regarding the life sentence, but there were also "double" life sentences e.t.c. The last decade they don't decide such sentences to anyone. Nobody knows exactly why....
