Great video - looks straightforward and thought out. I own a PA 14 - I'm wanting to set it up in nearly the exact build. I fly fish almost exclusively, and fish mainly for stripers in the Delta, and all other land-locked lakes where they have been introduced around the Bay Area. I need/want the Torqeedo for long point a to point b runs, and want/need the xi3 to keep fly contact in wind, current, or other things that interfere with line management and contact with the fly. Based on where I fish the most - I think a 100aH battery for the xi3 would provide all day boat management, without battery anxiety. Similarly I would want a pair of Torqeedo batteries to make sure I can get back from a longer run in the Delta or on a lake like San Luis. Of course the Mirage drive would be onboard in case all other forms of propulsion fail. x This all seems like a LOT of weight on the PA14 - and how it is set up seems critical to maintaining the stability of the boat. I would love to see a video of a PA14 (if you've made one) fully rigged OTW to see how the boat sits both at rest and underway.
I have the Toqeedo 1103Ac on my Hobie 14 and was considering adding the MotorGuide Xi3. Sounds crazy but the spot lock feature wow that would be nice. Did you have any issues with the extra weight of the batteries in the front?
Old town has the win for motorized kayak! All these cables etc. are cumbersome to work. Hobie needs to step it up and do what old town did with ipilot!! Whoever makes one that you interchange pedal and motor is going to kill it with sales period!!!

It's a good combo! Torqeedo gets you there and the Xi3 keeps you in place.

The tubing used is the stock rudder tubing from Hobie.

Been researching this combo. How much added speed do you get from the torqeedo over just having the Xi3?
With the Torqeedo 1103AC you’ll see close to 6.5-7 mph top speed, the Xi3 will see around 4 mph. The plus with the Xi3 is GPS Spotlock.

Just the motor weighs about 43lbs, that does not include any of the mounts.
Need to check out my motorguide xi3 video before you drill holes in your kayaks and put pulleys and all that, no drilling needed.
