Our community does have a major problem identifying with our historical adversaries but this i suspect is different. This is where entertainment overlaps. We are even more obsessed with being entertained. Think NFL, think Black exploitation media. We actively look past what is being done to us in our eagerness to be entertained (distracted). Our cultural opioid.
That's just the money they made on their main job. They are also board members of other major companies and make a grip based on the profits of those companies.

The brotha is absolutely right. This is the same system that keep as black people oppressed. The system is designed for a percentage of people to become richer on the backs of people struggling to make it. These billionaires and multiple millionaires are using the talents to others to get even richer. The reason people haven't called out the system because some are hopeful in becoming one of the few.
Correct it is operating exactly as it was designed, genius but really evil. People need to stop participating in their own oppression.

All of this! Yes! Working actors are the working poor of Hollywood along with the crew. They should make a living wage too!
"trying to replace them with AI" ... it's the same thing in software engineering ... and many engineers don't even realize it.
It's crazy that people are not seeing the patterns. This is the same argument for student loans, this is the same argument for minimum wage. It's all the same. Businesses don't want to pay enough to do the job. then there's these people ....these off people that say, "Everyone should learn a skill that pays a lot. Stop being lazy etc." These are the same responses, for teachers etc. Now it's hitting actors and writers. When are we gonna rise up against these opinions? Everyone that comes online spreading these opinions should be confronted about these destructive opinions. It's destroying our world by justifying these poisonous toxic businesses to do what they are doing. So frustrating.

Tha by design keeps lower actor’s poor w/ pennies over and over so ever few years give more pennies again again so from .20 cents to .65 cents so the lower will never move fwd 😮….but the higher go from 100 million to 270 million dollars.

One of the things that is kinda funny about that situation, is most of the people that are complaining about hollywood studios being woke, calling them evil....etc are ok with hollywood being really evil (crushing workers) because, you know, capitalism is cool....

Darn near every time I hear Dr. Black with Prof. Hunter, he says something to make me wince, then shrug and nod . Like the elders say, “It’s tight, but it’s right!”
It’s the social disassociation of when whiteness Starts to buckle under capitalism that they are reminded truly on the class level on the hierarchy that white peoples in whiteness are also being exploited against.
So the fact they gaslight AA on a daily basis is harmful and insidious.
Instead of getting universal changes that would help uplift everyone as a whole.
I hope this just puts the conversation and spotlight back in their hands.
Meanwhile black people should be talking about the working class especially on trying to get unions or join unions for employees protections especially

When i worked as a boom op and grip, folks would be surprised at the amount of money the actors and crew are making. And mind you as a crew member, the money isn't as glamorous as folks think. Yes, the job might be fun, but when you look at the budgets and returns. Your chunk is a drop in the bucket. And in some cases, you wont receive residuals at all. The big names can command great salaries but for every big name, there are hundreds of working actors just trying to make some money to pay rent or a car note. Also, a lot don't qualify for health insurance either. Its a sad situation and I'm glad folks are waking up but i hope they see the big picture overall.
Yep -and many times you as a tech or extra have to travel to a location shoot around LA or in Cali on your own $$. "Different" work but definitely not the way I first envisioned...
@keyfield8967 I got lucky. I filmed mostly in my home state. The times I did work in Cali, I stayed with my dad's best friend. But yes, the crew has to come out of pocket for travel and accommodations. The system needs to be better all around and I hope they get what they need.
