I have heard that caretakers can die before the ones that they are taking care of because of the stress. So sometimes, you can't help or you will end up ill in the end. It's easy from the outside to say what people should do, but it isn't easy to be the primary caregiver of a sick person.
@lpgilber, Yes, that is correct about caretakers. I have been in that situation for many family members. It can be very stressful, based on medical issues, financial issues, support systems in place, etc. No one knows what it is like day-to-day unless you have walked in those shoes. It is easy to talk from the side lines, but very few step up to the plate consistently, at the end of the day. Unfortunately, in Wendy's case, there are so many complex issues involved. In my opinion, her legal team failed her. Once she divorced, they should have reviewed and updated all of medical and estate planning docs. Docs needed-Healthcare Directive, Healthcare Advocate, Living Will, POA, Trust, and updated beneficiaries on all accounts. By taking those steps, many of these issues would not be occurring.
@@realtalkwithproblj2004 Thank you for the information. My dad was ill with complications from diabetes and was going to need constant care around the clock. I'm the child of an alcoholic and my mother passed from cirrhosis of the liver. My mother also had alcohol induced dimentia. She got to the point where she could no longer make the decision to stop drinking alcohol and it tore her apart. She was much worse than Wendy was last we saw in her documentary. Sadly, I know Wendy will need to make the choice to be well again. Her family can try all they can and it will not make enough of an impact until Wendy outwardly acknowledges her issue and makes real changes to her every day life. Wendy never stopped passively or directly addressing the toxicity she endured as a larger child. She and her nephew connected as the black sheep of their nuclear families aka The Scapegoat. For all of Wendy's futuristic vision, she seemed to never get over the need to 'model' the 1950's bourgie dream that her value existed in being a thin suburban wife and mother with a home in the suburbs of New Jersey. And it seems that she never stopped self-medicating. I hope that the children get into therapy.
Courage is the answer. In my eyes mind Insecurity is Wendy’s issue. She talks about her childhood and the treatment received. She thought fame was her answer to the insecurities and realized it wasn’t so she used other things to fulfill that void. As a result it diminished her because she never had the courage to speak what really hinders her. When we are here it’s always a there. Therefore, in spite of what any of us may have (things, fame) there is always room for growth.
Wendy we must remember is a victim of rape. This alone is a lot to carry. We are seeing a victim and must understand the baggage that she has carried. We have not walked in her shoes ,but, must see here is a human being that still deserves our respect, understanding and compassion no matter what😢😢😊😊

I stopped watching Tyler Perry movies because I felt like his integrity has been lost, but he probably feels just fine. He probably feels very good and proud of his accomplishments.
Karen, you are the best at interviewing and attacking a story in another way. I love listening to and that you both giving us a diff take on Wendy’s situation. I’m praying for her….. ❤❤❤
This was so poignant for me. A close friend has Wernicke-Korsakoff from alcohol and prescription drug addiction and I've been torn up about how to be with her, help her, respond to her, connect with her, etc. At the same time, my sister is languishing with progressive aphasia and I have the same questions. I feel lost on this one. It's such an important conversation. Thank you.
We have lost our way as a people. Once upon a time the elders would have gone and got her and taken her to a desolate place... a quiet place... and removed all of the stimulus. Whether that be in the bush, or the moutaintop, or whatever. And they would have allowed the difficult tears to commence... IN OTHER WORDS... when you have an allergic reaction the doctor tells you to go on an elimination diet. That's exactly what this would have been. I really liked what the doctor said about "demons". Without a quiet place to fight - you are kept on the "demons" stompin' ground. BUT in quietness and stillness - GOD ALWAYS WINS.
What I've learned in life is, the best thing a person can do is take accountability for their own actions, which most people don't like doing.😵💫 And not deceive yourself. 🥴🥴
Powerful discussion! Very enlightening. I’m happy to start hearing from Dr. Robin again, I always hang on her every word. And Karen, you PREACHED about dancing with the devil and demons. So true 🙏🏽

I stopped watching Tyler Perry movies because I felt like his integrity has been lost, but he probably feels just fine. He probably feels very good and proud of his accomplishments.
Thank you both for real conversations! Karen you ask questions we all want to know. ❤
Karen, you are the best at interviewing and attacking a story in another way. I love listening to and that you both giving us a diff take on Wendy’s situation. I’m praying for her….. ❤❤❤
Whew DR ❤ ThankU
Amazing conversation that resonates with me so much!
This is so powerful. May we all seek knowledge and continue to better ourselves and do it for the good of the community. God bless us.

Thank you.
Beautiful
And BTW... This would be group silence. Some silences are too powerful to attempt alone!!!!

Thank you for this segment 👏🏽
Thank you so much for going Biblical spiritual. I can appreciate these truths you spoke, because I see the same thing when it comes to Wendy.
This podcast was powerful. It open my eyes about alot of things. Dr Robin Smith thank you for what you said regarding prayer.
This reminds me of B. Smith.
Let's live and learn. And pass on the knowledge.
FANTASTIC session. Thank you 😊🖤✊🏿🙏🏿
What I've learned in life is, the best thing a person can do is take accountability for their own actions, which most people don't like doing.😵💫 And not deceive yourself. 🥴🥴
Very good conversation, just keep praying for the world and it’s inhabitants.
Powerful discussion! Very enlightening. I’m happy to start hearing from Dr. Robin again, I always hang on her every word. And Karen, you PREACHED about dancing with the devil and demons. So true 🙏🏽
My mother refused medical treatment. She was in dire need of help & simply refused to leave her home. (She was of sound mind) It was grueling. I’ve never felt so helpless. Yes. The suffering became mine & still even after her death. Excellent video thank you.
So good ladies!
