    • @danilopompey754
      @danilopompey754 Місяць тому

      No, no, it was not biased; it was combat. It is a result of "affirmative action" which was designed to give exceptional Blacks a chance they may not have earned, based on the rationale that they may have been deprived from earning it because they attended poor schools or faced other disadvantage which back in the 60s was attributed to being "underprivileged" if you remember.
      However, when you hit the big times, like Coates, and are competing for the big accolades, you are supposed to have by then overcome your disadvantage, that is, you have already graduated from Harvard, Yale or Dartmouth, etcetera. Such is the case when you are competing in the mainstream as Black writers, journalists, politician, etcetera.
      However, suspicion of inferiority remains, and since scrutiny is ever higher for Blacks, who are often assumed to be fake, to have been artificially propped up, they have to be able to defend themselves better than their White counterparts who are not suspect. After all, it must be assumed: sooner or later someone will come for you, as Tony did, which in ghetto parlance is called getting "a n*gga wakeup call."
      Again, Coates was likely propelled by liberal largess, but as former Harvard president Ms Gay learned, if you cannot defend your position, you can be unceremoniously booted from it.
      But Coates did just fine, and can continue with his counter mainstream views, which is the whole purpose of getting and playing in the mainstream. Why? Because echoing the same line, same views as your White counterparts is boring and honestly, as a Black person, no progress. Blacks want to follow their own drummer and often take the contrarian view just to make a point - having a more accurate analysis notwithstanding. QED

      This made me remember when I had to demand that a “progressive” white woman boss at a so-called equitable, legacy white-led documentary organization to stop asking me to give special treatment to rich, lazy, entitlement white male filmmakers who had repeatedly complained about them because I gave them equitable treatment. I also had my own agenda too! I had 300 filmmakers I was working with and the pale one’s were insufferable. I went in to that job with the mission was all about opening doors for the Black folks. In a performance review where she said that I needed to be more compliant I told her, “I am one generation out of Jim Crow. I will not be privileging white men who are not only entitled but are rude. They aren’t even making their own films anyway. They hire good people then ride their backs to glory. It is STEALING. I will NOT have the ancestors coming down in me.”

      As a Jew I can tell you that nothing about the state is “ Jewish”. It’s a secular state, not operating in Jewish law or even principles of Judaism. It exists in opposition to Judaism . There is no JEWISH ethnicity . And it’s not a safe place for Jews or anyone else. If you have to have a bomb shelter and people walking the streets with guns, and you only expand by waging violence against other people who are not Jews and committing violence against them, HOW IS IT SAFE? That state makes the world a more dangerous place for ALL JEWS by claiming, falsely to BE a “ Jewish” state. It doesn’t represent us. It’s not our government . We aren’t all citizens to that government with loyalty to it.

    Let's not forget that it was the Khazars' choice to be in the land of Palenstine 'surrounded by enemies' as they claim.
    They accepted the decision of the Leagues of Nations (UN) in 1948 to transplant their people from the steppes of Russia (their homeland) and relocate to Palenstine.
    Meanwhile, Ta-Nehisi Coates wrote from his first-hand experience after visiting that region in the Middle East.
    Some people cannot accept truth when it's not what they want to hear.

    • @AfriasporaFilms
      @AfriasporaFilms Місяць тому

      It gets deeper. Prior to 1948 there was no Israel. It was Palestine. It had been Palestine for thousands of years. In the late 1800s and the beginning 1900s Russian Jews wrote Palestinian authorities complaining about how the Jewish people were being decimated by pogroms, raids of Russian night riders in a drunken frenzy who would go into Jewish ghettos burning, and massacring Jews at will. THE PALESTINIAN AUTHORITIES INVITED JEWS TO COME LIVE IN PALESTINE AS REFUGEES. The Palestinians, who were Muslims, Christians and Sephardic Jews with Muslims being the dominant majority saw the Askenazi and Khazar converted Jews as their brothers because they were all considered people of the book who abided by the Holy Scriptures revealed by the same one God.
      From 1900 the Ashkenazim Jewish people began trickling into Palestine. By this time the Ottoman Empire had collapsed and Palestine had become controlled by Britain as a British protected territory with Palestinians still governing under British control. In other words, the British had just taken the place of the Ottoman Turks, who ruled over the Palestinian authority, as the Turks had taken over from Arabs from Mecca, as the Arabs had taken over from the Catholic Church who had taken over from the Byzantines who had taken over from the Romans, etc. For as long as anyone could remember Palestinians always had someone occupying their land with some foreign power overseeing their government. Like the Palestinian King Herod who was supervised and controlled by the Roman Pontius Pilate. Nevertheless, everyone lived peacefully in Palestine for the most part. There were some clashes, and often among Jews themselves like between the original Palestinian Sephardic Jews and the newly arrived Ashkenazi/Khazari Jews over rabbinical practices and differences in interpretation of the law, but they resolved most of the issues and maintained peace until the end of World War II.
      From 1900 to the 1940s there had been a growing sentiment among some Ashkenazim who settled in Palestine that Jews deserved their own homeland and that they should not be governed by anyone but Jews. Other Jews, however, believed that their homeland would be given to them by the promised Messiah as ordained by God and that men should be patient and wait for God’s time. After the atrocities of Nazi Germany became apparent at the end of WWII, the Jews arguing for a homeland prevailed among Jews. They made political appeals to Great Britain, the US and other European nations. They appealed to their sense of guilt and the expedient concern that Jewish people must be protected from harm. They looked at regions of Uganda in Africa as a possible place for a homeland, Europe was considered, but most Jews agreed it had to be Palestine. When no one agreed to a diplomatic solution Jews turned to terrorism. Yes, Jews were the first terrorists against the British, the Palestinians and anyone not supporting the establishment of a Jewish homeland. Menachem Begin, Moshe Dayan, and Golda Meir all started as terrorists in Irgun and terrorist tactics turned into “freedom fighting,” which lead to further armed conflict that required foreign funding and military assistance. The Palestinian Civil War broke out with one side, the Jews, heavily supported by British and US military and finances.
      Palestinians were like, “why are you fighting us? We invited you here. We all lived peacefully as Palestinians.” Jews were like, “Yeah, but this land should be controlled by Jews anyway and our book says so.”
      It all came to a head when Jews in 1948 won the very onesided civil war against the Palestinian government, which again had existed peacefully for thousands of years, and this began the creation of the apartheid state of Israel. The very same year, 1948, when the apartheid state of South Africa was created also. Think it was coincidental?
      Read “The Broken Sword of Justice” if you can find it, for greater detail.

      It’s deeper. The Palestinians invited Khazarian and Ashkenazim Jews to live in Palestine to escape the pogroms of Russia. The Palestinians, Muslims, Christians and Sephardim Jews all welcomed the Khazari/Ashkenazim Jews as they considered them all to be People of the Book. Yeah, I bet they regret that invitation.

    I saw this exchange as it aired. I wasn’t appalled . T Coates wrote a substantive book rarely told from this POV. Tony, the host, has a vested interest in Israel. He asked tough questions. (I wish Black interviewers would do the same regarding being Black in America.). Coates is well able to defend his work in an informative way. He knows why he wrote what he wrote. We need more T Coates. He answered with his chest! #TeamTCoates

    I rewatched this several times because I wanted to believe I didn't hear what I heard. I have mostly disliked Tony Dukopil, not because of his life experiences and perspectives, but BECAUSE he refuses to accept that others have the same agency. (By the way, following the outbreak of the war in Israel last year, his two children from his first marriage relocated to New York from Israel.) Earlier this year, Ta-Neisi Coates was guest speaker at Abyssinian Baptist Church, which I watched online. What struck me most is that he offered his experience in his travels and how he likened it to Jim Crow.

    As a black American who’s great grandfather was a freed slave that had his home stolen in Jim Crow Tennessee! We can always relate to the American Jews who we consider to have a spiritual kinship with. We have tremendous love and gratitude for them helping us in the struggle of civil rights in this country. And we share the same liberal world view. But I should also be able to call out injustice when it comes to our Palestinian brothers and sisters and tell our Jewish brothers and sisters there is a better way to deal with the issue. In a way that benefits both sides.

    • @mookiestewart3776

    "I am concerned with those who don't have a voice. Where is the Palestinian Bureau Chief? What I saw were the stories I have not seen."
    "What offends you about a Jewish state?"
    Again, the false premise. He never said he hated Israel or disliked Jewish people.
    "States built on ethnocracy or based on ethnicity is wrong. I am a child of Jim Crow, American apartheid."
    Oops.
    "Why no agency for the Palestinians? What is their role?"
    UMM.

Stewart coming from a Jewish perspective still gets it as so many do. It was an excellent discourse.
