Sound quality is pretty distorted but you can see the raw talent these pups had. They appeared on Danish television too, might have better sound. That was their introduction performance
This was taken from the 1969 concert film “Supershow”, which featured several other groups as well. It was filmed in March 1969 in Staines (a section of London) at an old linoleum factory. The distortion of Led Zeppelin’s sound wasn’t intentional. Jimmy Page spoke about this show and he said that Led Zeppelin’s sound system (which they cranked to the max) was too powerful for the recording system that was used, which resulted in the distorted sound, especially on the guitar. But once Led Zeppelin watched the film they really loved the way it sounded. I got to see Led Zeppelin in 1969 and several times in the 70’s (I lived in England) and they were indeed unbelievably loud.
@@manchieffilmswhen you think, Page in 2 weeks rounded up Plant Bonham & JPJ, they had their first rehearsal on August 19,1968 Plant turned 20 the next day. They played some concerts as the New Yardbirds, Page was the only remaining member of the Yardbirds, & had concert to fulfill. In October all in 36 hours, they recorded & Page produced mixed & edited their first album. It was released on January 12,1969 in the USA, though they came here on December 26 & did some performances, before it was released. Today in my UA-cam pop ups were a few songs, from Plant & Bonham’s band, Band Of Joy & they were great to hear. I’m sure if you look you can find them. YES! Led Zeppelin is the greatest band, past present & future, music magic.
@@PeterTeaif they did, it would take away from their rawness. I know Page had said something about pushing his amplifier to the max, maybe this is when he did.
Hopefully they will put the version from The Song Remains the Same show, 28 minutes of greatness. This was one of their favorites in concert going as long as 42 minutes.

But 'Top Gear' on BBC was 03 Mar 69 (also from Google). Take- a you pick. What was I doing? Joined the Army at 17 (Reg) and left at 60 (Militia and Reserves). Peace, love and bellbottoms.
No, he didn't play cello. When he was a session musician another musician asked if he tried playing with a bow, so he tried it and went on to develop the technique.
Actually some other guitarist used a bow, but I’m not sure of his name or when, but it was before Page did. Page has said he uses a violin bow, not a cello bow, though he did perfect it more. I’m not sure anyone else has used one since though.
@@robertphelps1574 now that’s questionable too, as to using it on an album, Eddie Philips did in 1966, & Page while playing with The Yardbirds. When though was it suggested to Page as a session musician, & when did Phillips decide to use it? From what I saw, Page has more of a technique with it, & honed it to more musicality. Phillips more just sawed it hard across the guitar strings, rather then actually making music. Like the question, which came first, the chicken or the egg.
People played with all kinds of things. Alvin Lee used a drum stick during Help Me Baby and he didn't just run it along the strings, he tapped individual strings. I'm not sure, but I heard Jimmy learned that from someone else.
@@manchieffilmsit’s hard to find, unless you watch someone else’s reaction, or you watch their movie. "Supershow" 1969! Hey DJ! We were so lucky to grow up in the time we did. We were absolutely spoiled..great music was everywhere.. and back then, we just thought it would always be like that! Keep working your way through their catalogue, but if you do want to hit a couple more lives from Zep's early days, I have a couple of suggestions for you, when you can. Check these out, if you would. Both are from the Royal Albert Hall 1970 show. Just so you're not caught off guard, they are both from the 'official channel', so they both do have pop-ups in the middle (for about 20 seconds). Also there is a short part in each, with some still pictures in place of the live video, (possibly due to part of it being damaged over the years, it is old film after all), but live video does resume shortly for both.
