It's hard to say, but I would say this is Jimmy's finest guitar work from any live or studio work. The guy is beyond mortal. They are all all- stars! The thing that makes Jimmy the GOAT is his diversity and ability to play different styles, and in differing keys. Not just his speed.
A MONSTER.....As i said, in my comment, for me, the guy was possesed by the devil, or a demon, it wasn't a human being who played in that song....Qnd he lead the 3 other monsters, to play one of the best performance ever....The only guy i saw, who could challenge that kind of performance, coming from another galaxy, is Jimi Hendrix....It's madness....And i say that, after 30 years i played guitar, and played with bands, jammed, etc....😅👍✌️I know what i'm talking about....
This is an example, just one, of why Led Zeppelin broke the world record for the highest demand for tickets at 20+ million requests for their 2007 reunion concert at the O2 Arena (with Jason filling in for his father on drums) twenty-seven years after they disbanded. Fricking incredible, and unmatched.
In the summer of 1980, our local rock station announced Zeppelin was going to tour North America, and my city was on the itinerary, some friends and I were planning on getting tickets, then John Bonham.................I never got the chance to see Zeppelin. All during 1981, movie theaters would do midnight showings of The Song Remains the Same, and I saw this movie several times on the big screen, and at the end of Dazed and Confused, during that brief solo Bonzo performed, I thought the camera was sped up for more dramatics, until I realized it was Bonzo in all his glory. The whole movie is awesome, I recommend watching it.
I think it’s been mentioned before that Page actually sped up the footage just a hair for dramatic effect. To my knowledge, that’s not actually been confirmed-I only bring that up because it has been a topic bantered about before.
I'M AGREED ABOUT ALL GUITARISTS ON EARTH, EXCEPT: , JIMI HENDRIX EXPLODED HIM SEVERAL TIMES BRO😂JIMI HENDRIX " VOODOO CHILD" LIVE AT WOODSTOCK 1969, OR "TAX FREE" LIVE AT LOS ANGELES FORUM 1969, "MACHINE GUN, LIVE BAND OF BAND GYPSIES", ETC😂ETC.....
I am 64 yrs old and when I was a teenage in the 70's, I did not go the live show, I grew up in Orange County CA. But, when the concert movie came out, some of the movie theaters would have a midnight showing of The Some Remains the Same. They would set up monster speakers in the theater and crank it up loudly. Going in buzzed off a joint or 2, this was an awesome concert. It was my dream to see LZ live and in 1980, they announced a tour in the states including Los Angeles, I could not wait. On a September day, it was announced that John Bonham died from alcohol poisoning. My chances of seeing LZ live was gone, but I still will watch this concert to know this would be the closet I will get to see them live.
That's one that that came through from the very beginning, they really loved what they were doing. Their reputation was built by word of mouth from the live shows, and as the word spread they became the biggest band in the world, and rightly so!
Was fortunate enough to see and hear this during their European tour in Offenburg on 24th March, 1973. They were beyond anything one had heard before. And this virtuoso performance stands the test of time, had to watch it all the way through.
Scott Mckenzie's "San Francisco". Also, David McCallum Sr., a noted violinist, suggested the violin idea to Jimmy Page. Page also used a violin bow on the Yardbirds' song, 'Glimpses'. A British rock band of the mid '60's, The Creation had a song with a violin bow on the guitar: Eddie Phillips on 'Making Time'.
They were the band to end all bands - the ultimate unit. Truly the perfect band at the perfect time. You know, you can go back and listen to live tapes dating back to 1969 to hear parts that would develop into what Dazed became by ‘73. It got stretched out to the exaggerated, barely recognizable but with much thanks to Bonzo, it all kept grooving rightly. He had tremendous guitar ears. 1973 was their technical pinnacle year. The song continued in their live set for the short ‘75 tour and was finally dropped after it. These ‘73 run throughs were especially magnificent and magical, (The San Francisco song is a 1967 tune by Scott McKenzie and was a huge hit for him.) Check it out.
Alright! You did it. We all have opinions but that to me is the best group performance on you tube. And Jimmy page earns top individual performance! Just infreakingcredible!
As a guitar player who was inspired by Page to play, I can tell you that from even a player's pov, his playing is off the charts. The originality, creativity, and innovation are second to none. There really is no other guitarist like him. I've never felt the wonder and magic that is Jimmy, that is Zeppelin from any other band. Lots of great bands out there, but Zep is the #1 rock band in album sales for good reason.
OMG! It's still up 😁 It's been a long time since I've seen a reaction to MSG live version. Hopefully it will stay up. At leat I was able to watch it together with you. 🤟
So glad this wasnt blocked! (Yet?). I loved this performance, and it was released in their Song Remains the Same live album. I remember every note! Page and Plant are so perfect playing off each other. Just remember that 5 years earlier when Page formed the band, a critic stated they would "sink like a lead balloon ", and the name Led Zeppelin was formed!
Actually the name came from Keith Moon, him and Page and I forget who else jammed and talked about a band, Keith said that would go over like a lead Zeppelin or balloon I for get, and I think the who manager told page it would be hard to play with broken arms.
love old music like this. you can hear the silence between notes for a brief second...it becomes as important as the instruments/vocal. nowadays they compress it so you get a constant monotonous sound level.
Such a good reaction!! This performance is one of my very favorite things. Such improvisation - a work of art. The longest version of Dazed was almost 45 minutes long - LA Forum March 1975. Since I've Been Loving You from this gig is fabulous. Don't know if you've reacted to anything from their 2007 "reunion" concert with John Bonham's son Jason on drums. Dazed and SIBLY were in the set. The concert is fantastic!
My appreciation for the music I was fortunate to grow up with continues with ever more gratitude. Excellent, Brilliant, Wonderful and Creative not to mention highly entertaining.
Others have tried but they can't come close to the mighty Zep! Thank you for your reaction. It's past 3 pm here on the east coast of NSW Australia, and I viewed the video
It was the good version😂The best version (except on the video it's cuted off, you must listen to the audio version, which is complete....There's, solething, like 1 minute left)....But, when you see them, it's better😂I'm agree with your followers....You can see how they're in....Page was possesed by the devil himself that night😂And, he lead the other monsters, to play one of the best live performance i ever saw.....Only, Jimi Hendrix, can challenge that kind of monstruous performance, with so much quality, energy, and as you said, 75% of the song is a jam....Improvisation....It's PHENOMENAL....Peace from France ✌️
I think you're the first person I've seen do a reaction to a live performance of this song. Also I've seen many different version of this song but I think it's the first time I seen this one.
This is Led Zeppelin's finest hour. They have never been like this ever again. Maybe in 1975 at Earl's court. However, this was their hay day. I am a stout Zeppelin fan. I love Led Zeppelin without them. I don't know where my world would be right now. Oh
Great song, great reaction, great choice of video. The studio version of this is much shorter, of course, but is as disorienting and trippy as this in it's own, concentrated way. In a lovely twist of fate, I managed as a young fellow to avoid ever hearing this song until one night when I was about 20, and listening to my roommate's Zep album...while tripping on lsd. Yes, the song is trippy, but that night it was turbo-trippy. ☺ It's been a favorite song, every since.
"San Francisco" isn't a Zeppelin song, but seems to fit in there nonetheless. Jonesy never lets up on that bass! I wasn't at that show, but I caught them back in '69 @ Winterland in S.F.
The song “If Your Going To San Francisco”, by Scott McKenzie who was in the mamas and the papas wrote and sang that song. Robert Plant just put the words of that song into this one.
I think who is the greatest guitar player of all time comes down to a matter of personal preference. Jimmy Page and Stevie Ray Vaughn are my 2 favorites. If you're not familiar with SRV do yourself a favor and checkout live version of either Texas Flood (El Mocambo) or his Hendrix cover of Voodoo Child (live Tokyo).
I have seen other channels just upload the blocked reactions to vimeo then just provide a link to the video its really a smart way to do it so that the video is not obscured in any way...just my 10 cents...
In the movie all the band members have a fantasy sequence, with a different song. Robert i think was the Rain Song. Bonzo was Moby Dick. This was Jimmy's obviously and JPJ's was No Quarter.
I was there for 2nights, My experience was that the English groups had the best sound, This song illustrates that, Emerson Lake and Palmer till this day had the best 🔈🔉🔊, Honerable mention too Gentle Giant/NEKTAR...

🟢 Not really important where he is ranked as Guitar Heroes, but….definitely the Guitarist who changed the game,…besides The GOAT’s has never admitted that they are the best: Lionel Messi, Micheal Jordan, Beethoven, Tom Brady, John Henry Bonham

BEST! LIVE! ROCK! PERFORMANCE! EVER!

I agree
He's uncopyable. Like Jeff Beck. Absolutely 1 of 1.
Yes..this time period was Jimmy's peak..I don't think he had yet found heroin..
This is the greatest rock guitar performance ever recorded !
I 100% agree
This is an example, just one, of why Led Zeppelin broke the world record for the highest demand for tickets at 20+ million requests for their 2007 reunion concert at the O2 Arena (with Jason filling in for his father on drums) twenty-seven years after they disbanded. The San Francisco improv part is in my opinion the greatest live concert moment ever. It all came together perfectly. 100/10 never to be touched again
I heard someone recently point to the picking guitar in that section, as the precursor for Achilles Last Stand, which I never considered before
I was there. Best night of my life.
I'm so jealous!
If I could choose one time and place in historie to be, it would be this koncert..
Greatest guitar performance ever recorded!
Facts
100%..I would put Jimmy against any guitarist ever..Eddie van halen..Jimmy hendrix... any one today or the past.
Proof again.... that Led Zeppelin is the greatest rock band ever !
Nobody now days could even compare
Not even back then. Who was doing improv like this or bow solos.
Why is there even a debate on who the greatest guitarist has ever been ?? Just watch this video .. the answer is obvious
I am 64 yrs old and when I was a teenage in the 70's, I did not go the live show, I grew up in Orange County CA. Love the footage of the John's together in the back interacting. There isn't enough of that. Epic track, magical performance 🎶🤌🏼
That little piece "San Francisco" is a 1967 song by Scott McKenzie. That part isn't in the studio version.
these guys were set to endless beast mode...cranked up to 11 without a clock
They obliterate anything in their path... astounding musicians!
How could anyone watch this and not think Zeppelin were GOATS.
Fallen Demi gods ,
Cant
I have that Movie on my phone and crank it in the car alot! I saw Zep in 77 at Chicago Stadium, was a religious experience !
That's one that that came through from the very beginning, they really loved what they were doing. Their reputation was built by word of mouth from the live shows, and as the word spread they became the biggest band in the world, and rightly so!
A whole concert in just one song, love to entertain their fans.
Was fortunate enough to see and hear this during their European tour in Offenburg on 24th March, 1973. They were beyond anything one had heard before.
And this virtuoso performance stands the test of time, had to watch it all the way through.
Offenburg to me is the greatest version of Dazed and Confused. You're one lucky motherfucker!
@@rishavpaudel5021 You're damn right! Still listening to it after 50 years when I'm in the mood.
No better live performance EVER ❤️
They were, are and WILL ALWAYS BE the ultimate rock band.
There's a lot of people out there who do reaction videos who are clueless, but you're different you're a smart bright guy and I like that.
the greatest live rock song ever captured on film.
I love your enjoyment on here, man. I can see you feeling what I feel. I think that's what most people come to these review videos for
This is Zeppelin in full flight! Nice reaction.
Scott Mckenzie's "San Francisco". Also, David McCallum Sr., a noted violinist, suggested the violin idea to Jimmy Page. Page also used a violin bow on the Yardbirds' song, 'Glimpses'. They are insanely talented greatest band ever led zeppelin case dismissed

I saw Led Zeppelin perform this song live in 1969 and 1970. It was electrifying in person.
So glad you appreciate them as all of us did...pass it down to your kids!! ❤😊
Alright! You did it. We all have opinions but that to me is the best group performance on you tube. And Jimmy page earns top individual performance! Just infreakingcredible!
LED ZEPPELIN FOREVER, FOREVER LED ZEPPELIN!!! GREATEST BAND OF ALL TIME. 🥁☮☘

Props to you for playing the whole song. 🎉
Jimmy is definitely in his happy place, he needs to play his guitar, as much as he needs to breath. The greatest guitarist ever.
OMG! It's still up 😁
It's been a long time since I've seen a reaction to MSG live version.
Hopefully it will stay up.
At leat I was able to watch it together with you. 🤟
Oh yeah!!!!
Video still made it through 5 months later! Gold!!
Just imagine witnessing this live, epic one of a kind display of raw talent.
Epic
So glad this wasnt blocked! (Yet?). I loved this performance, and it was released in their Song Remains the Same live album. I remember every note!

@DTWC even better! Lol
I saw them live in Oakland California in 1977 and it lasted about 3 1/2 hours and that’s after Rick Derringer and Judas priest❤😮😮
You said it right: God of the electric guitar
♥♥♥Я из Санкт-Петербурга.Мне 59лет.Впервые услышал Led Zeppelin в 14лет,и до сих пор не перестаю удивляться ими! Таких ребят больше нет.
It is raining, im tired and its night but i still prefer listening to Zep before I sleep, that's how good they are. Made me turn down the rain.
love old music like this. you can hear the silence between notes for a brief second...it becomes as important as the instruments/vocal. nowadays they compress it so you get a constant monotonous sound level.
That Break is "Scott McKenzie" "if your going to San Francisco
I was there, at The Forum in L.A. One thing I really regret is going to the bathroom during Bonzo's historical drum solo. Missed the whole thing. ☹
Oh no! At least, if anything, there are still many ways we can enjoy his talent to this day via media. RIP Mr. Bonham
GOATS
aka: "Jimmy Shreds."

Two words..... THE BEST!
Finally another full MSG Dazed and Confused. This one is really hard to put up for a lot of youtubers

I would've been happy with audio only but glad to see the video passed 👍
It's mostly improvised original music
The GOAT!
The best ever!!
If you haven't seen it yet, you should also see the live version of In My Time of Dying from Earl's Court 1975.
Yes!!!
Thank You for playing this long version. Your reaction was superb .Yes theres a 45 plus minute version. But this was indeed PRICELESS
The song “If Your Going To San Francisco”, by Scott McKenzie who was in the mamas and the papas wrote and sang that song. Robert Plant just put the words of that song into this one.
Yes, they rehearsed it. Mostly on the road, I imagine.
Bands spent a lot of time playing.
This was just insanely fantastic when I saw them live (1974 at University of New Mexico Arena - "The Pit").
Actually, it was a separate song from Scott McKenzie called "San Francisco", which they incorporated in the live versions of this song.
One of my favorites
I think who is the greatest guitar player of all time comes down to a matter of personal preference. Jimmy Page and Stevie Ray Vaughn are my 2 favorites. Well done son, you rode it out and know you know. 👍
Quintessential live Zeppelin
I have seen other channels just upload the blocked reactions to vimeo then just provide a link to the video its really a smart way to do it so that the video is not obscured in any way...just my 10 cents...
Of the gods. Thanks for the reaction.
page = GOAT

Robert i think was the Rain Song.
Bonzo was Moby Dick.
This was Jimmy's obviously and JPJ's was No Quarter.
As of 6am pacific on 7/18 you could still see the video.
The video is showing right now on your post here, and i could see the entire song live...why couldn't you see it bro?
The movie is cool. Used to drive to AnnArbor to see it at the Midnight Movies.
I’m old. I saw these shows in San Diego
Great review!
See.. This track is... Dazed and confused.. Its not sound bites from/of other tracks.. It Dazed and confused...a track all of its own...
they improvised a number of 60s verse into the song.
No other band or guitar player could ever duplicate this
Love the Paige Bonham sync
❤❤❤Robert ❤❤❤
I was there for 2nights,
My experience was that the English groups had the best sound,
This song illustrates that,
Emerson Lake and Palmer till this day had the best 🔈🔉🔊,
Honerable mention too Gentle Giant/NEKTAR...
13:27 is a ritual from crowley
epic !!!!!!!!
best part is when plant says page on electric guitar
notice how the women cops didn't get involved in the heaving lifting @26:20?
My god this is sureall
Well there was this and now a guy looping noise on his laptop can sell out arenas.
A Les Paul, a wah wah, a fuzz, a tonebender and an echoplex...and not all at once, of course...but no computerized Stomp box, etc.
The hands of the player dictate the sound from the guitar
When you said about them smiling at each other... I think Bonham went too soon, and between them they talking about that.
That’s how you leave an audience bleeding…right there.
all one song
Never been voted no one guitarist, its always Jimmy hendrix, not in my eyes page all the way
@paulsmith - Jimi...
Jimi Hendrix, Jimmy Page. ;)
Mine too...nobody can be Jimmy!!
Sorry Stevie, sorry Jimi and sorry Eddie, y'all is great but there is only one GOAT and that is Jimmy Page!
