1: Don’t pile your hair on your head, put shampoo on your scalp and let it rinse 2: don’t try to detangle dry or damp hair, detangle while wet and with conditioner. 3: don’t use a billion different products, in stead, pick a 3 step style with different products. 4: don’t randomly apply products and scrunch. Instead, finger detangle and smooth product down hair, then scrunch it up to provide curls. 5: don’t blow dry hair from bottom up. Dry top to bottom to reduce frizz 6: don’t buy products just because it says “no parabeans” and stuff like that. Buy it because it works, not because it’s “all natural” 7: DO NOT skip ‘deep conditioning’ day! Curls appreciate when you deep condition once a week. 8: Don’t think that your ‘holy grail’ product will last you forever and always be perfect. Experiment with products to see which is best for your mane. Weather can make a difference in your curls. 9: Don’t hate frizz!! Embrace the frizz. If your hair likes to be big and fluffy, except it! Find ways to manipulate your hair so it fits what you want, but be open minded. Let it go, your hair wants to do what it wants. (Lol that made no sense:) 10: don’t be afraid of your hair. Get creative. Nobody honestly cares that much about your hair, so be fun and funky with your locks. Try new styles and be fearless. Don’t style your hair the same way all the time. I hope you found this helpful. Have a good day, you’re blessed. Be confident.

This was a great informative post for curly girls. So many curly vloggers are repeating themselves and making videos that are common sense. You actually said some thing in this video that we're not common sense and actually helpful. I can admit I skip deep conditioning day sometimes so thanks for alerting me to make it weekly! Good video and educational without it being redundant!
All the other girls in my class have 1A hair and don't understand why I have frizz, and why I don't brush my hair. Girl: Why don't you brush your hair? Me: *facepalms*
Omllll sameeee everyone with straight hair always bothers me about my hair thinking that I don't brush it for school and I always tell them "I don't brush my hair in the morning because if I do my hair will be huge and super frizzy and you probably won't be able to see the board." And I tell them that they have straight hair and they know nothing about curly hair
I'm a white girl with really THICK curly hair and when I was 11 I was at a friend's house for a few days and this chick had thin straight hair and she literally just randomly started brushing my hair and bro let me tell you my mom was SOOO MAD like damn🤦
In my school I'm pretty much the only girl with straight hair and I wish I had those beautiful curls because all of my friends with curly hair style their curly hair so beautifully while I'm here with my flat no volume frizzy hair...
Glad you decided to embrace your curls! Your hair looks beautiful! I spent years hating my hair because it wouldn't be straight. Only recently embraced my curls and learned how to take care of them. Still learning and trying new things, and I got a couple new tips from this video! Thanks!
I'm actually learn english and sometimes it's hard to understand what people saying in their own videos and in this vid your sentences are really easy to understand to me ! and the tips are just top =) !Thumbs up ( hope my english is not bad lol )

okaaaaay....melanin poppin'...lookin' like a golden ray of sunshine!! As soon as the video started I yelled out "Yasssss!" Love your curls...working on getting mine healthy again after experiencing heat damage the beginning of this year.
Everyone at school always questions whether or not I brush my hair because it's big and can sometimes be messy and I always tell them that they have straight hair and they don't know anything about curly hair
I love how you're so clear and specific with your point and with your words, it makes it so much easier and just better to listen and pay attention to u !😊
Thanks to you I learned to embrace frizz!!! I always wanted big hair but no frizz lol my hair is very fine so to achieve the volume I want I need to accept the frizz it comes with. Thank you for being such a big curly inspiration!!!
" the first don't is : don't pile all of your hair on top of your head when shampooing " Me : " but she did it .... OMG DID SHE DO IT BECAUSE SHE LOVES US AND SHE WANTS TO SHOW US HOW IT LOOKS LIKE !!!! I love her ❤ .

Love how you are so in love with your hair and willing to let it basically do its own thing. I am on my natural hair journey and my curls are coming back. Can't wait to be so in love with my hair like you are.
I ❤️ this video!!!! Everything you said hit home for me... I transitioned with a sew-in weave for 5 years straight, mostly because I hated what "natural hair" looks like. But the truth is, you can't be bone straight everyday cuz that's not what your hair wants to do "naturally"! So inspiring in every video ❤️💕😊
Only female with my hairtype in my family and my dad gave me the curly hair... And he doesn't help with my hair cause he can barely take care of his own. So thank you for this vid
I really enjoyed this video! Even though I've read and watched a million things about curly hair, Some of these tips I had no idea about. It was super helpful! My curly hair has changed drastically over the years, & there are some tips here that I'll be keeping in mind for the future.
I love your way of saying "Embrace your curls and FRIZZ !". I used to hate my hair and wanted it straight. So I used a lot of chemicals to break my curl pattern but it never worked (fortunately). It would last a couple of days and then my curls would be back like normal. So instead of fighting it, I decided to make my curls look better, more defined, moisturized and shiny ! 5 years latter, I am still leaning things about my hair and noticing that I now swear by products that my hair hated back then. It's an everyday challenge to maintain curly hair but at the end of the day, it's worth it ! So embrace it !
Love this video. I'm going to show to my grand daughter who is 7 and hates her beautiful curls!! I didn't start embracing my curly hair until I was in my 30's. Almost 60 and love my big curly hair!! Love that I can do a lot with my curly hair!! Thank you for all your great video.
this is super helpful! I used to either blow-dry and straighten or have it in ponytail to hide the curls... and I was so done with that, I started to embrace the fact that I have curly hair. it's harder than having straight hair.. but now I love my curls and they look better because I don't damage my hair with straightening products.
Looooove the Rita's Daughter nameplate! My mom's name is Rita and she passed in 2013... I think of her every time I see you wear this. Love it. 💞 this was a dope upload.
I've seen a lot of curly hair tip vids, and before I clicked on this one I was thinking like, oh boy another do's and dont's vid for curly hair, I bet it's gonna tell me the same stuff I always hear, like don't dry your hair with a regular towel or avoid sulfates. But I watched it anyway and I'm so glad I did. I've never seen anyone literally say embrace the frizz instead of fight it. And even in the beginning in the vid I noticed your frizz but I still saw that your curls were nice and defined, and had volume, so I thought that was really cool. I was kind of annoyed with my hair today because of frizz, so this really helped me. Right now it's a little frizzy but the curls are nice, so thanks for that little boost in hair confidence :) This is really one of the best curly hair vids I've ever seen, I really appreciate all the tips!
LOVE LOVE LOVE this video! I'm desperately trying to learn about ingredients but I can't seem to find simple and easy to understand information. I love the "intentional" part! You should definitely do more teaching in your videos about things like that! It is now rather easy to find videos on the wash and go techniques, but not as easy when it comes to ingredients to look for or to avoid, depending on which product we need, weather it's shampoo, conditioner, gel, milk, etc. Please continue to be so real, so down to earth, so well articulated, you are truly an inspiration!
Good stuff. I'm 45 & this generation has more options than I did. also our hair is more welcomed. although at my age I've lost that curl I spent years straightening or just braiding. my daughters now have more options. I'm glad & grateful for ppl like you informing others. its too late for me. but its not too late for my daughters & my granddaughter who has the most amazing little curls at a year old.
So the weird thing is my hair can react so good to a product then all of a sudden like become very tangled and nappy. Also when my hair is all brushed through from the moisturizer it becomes super wavy.... then really frizzy wavy but gel breaks off my hair. I'm getting it cut real short.
I have 2 girls (13 & 6) with super thick long curly hair! It took me YEARS to find the best product(s) and technique! I can honestly say it used to take me 2 days with various products, with my first...then 8 hours, but NOW...2 hours max (Keracare, Aussie and Chi oil)... from full wash, condition, blow dry and flat iron (if that time). For days it curls back up...I use a dime size of Sweet2oppings and it moisturizes, detangles and maintain flyaways! I am so thankful to the hair vloggers, because it is harder than I thought to find great products for curly hair!
This helped so much ! Super informative !! I been embracing my curls for 2 years now and get more complements it being curly/natural than I ever did when I would straighten it regret not embracing my curls sooner!!
Thank you for your video ! Because you really saved my hair ! As being the only person in my family who have curly hair, since I was a kid, my mom know nothing about my type of hair. Moreover, in France it's really hard to find a salon specialized in curly hair, especially when you aren't living in big cities. It's because of UA-cam and beautiful women like you that I learned how to take care of my hair type. So thank you! 💙
I have been natural since early July 2008, but had to have a big chop done 4 years ago last month due to heat damage, and have realized all of these things except the one about diffusing in the past 4 years, especially last week and the week before that. I need to get more creative with my hair, master how to two-strand twist my hair and braid my hair, and practice how to do more complicated styles (flat twist, cornrow braids, Dutch braid, and French braid) this year.
The end made me smile. "I'm just going to let you be you, hair. okay?" I can relate to this completely. My hair wants to be big too. I feel freedom letting it be natural as well. One of the biggest problems was I HATED rainy days, not because I hated the rain itself, but because I always had to cover my head. I would worry about the weather so much. Today I went out in the rain with my curly hair and was happy that I didn't need to wear a hood or hat.
I have curly hair, and I’ve gotten so lazy about it lately it’s like I almost forgot how to take care of it...this video really helped and it wasn’t too long and ALL the info was useful, thank you so much!!
I know right embrace the first my hair tends to get some type of frizzing and my mom always criticizes my curly hair she called me lion hair and it makes me man but I wish my curls were more defined but I'm trying to get my hair to a healthy state so some of the texture is coming back so I am excited
OMG. Thank you for talking about the “cocktail” I’ve been doing that. And honestly I have NO IDEA what is best for my hair. I’m gonna start actually seeing what works best.
I used to hate how my hair was so puffy and I wasn't taking care of it to the point where there were only curls on the bottom of my hair. Then, I straightened it once a week for a whole school year. I'm trying to fix my hair and not be afraid of it.
Okay i seriously thougth this was gonna be another, trim every 3 months, use these products, blah blah blah but your tips are different and WAY more helpful i appreciate you chica ✨✨
This is such a nice video! During teenage/ high school years I've stressed and destroyed my hair so much with aggressive straightening habits and also by decoloring them because I felt so different than all the other girls with my huge dark, curly and frizzy hair. It's very big, even though it's not "afro" (the curls are not as firm and as narrow as yours). Now, in my 20s, I'm slowly taking my hair back again. I cut it short a couple years ago and sweared I would never straighten or decolor them again. As expected, my hair grew to be a completely different hair ! I was hating my hair more and more and stressing it and they were actually turning out to be even a messier mess than it originally was, because the straightening destroyed the curls but didn't solve the frizz. Now my hair is long again, and I swear it's the first time in my life I see it so defined. However, sometimes I'm still unconfourtable with that frizz, but I'm learning to deal with it. I condition every time and look for ways to keep it nice, like braiding it or so when it's dirty. One of my concerns is that my curls are slightly more defined behind my neck than on the top of my head and that the latter is also quite frizzy. Sometimes I look like good old Hermione Granger , ahaha. In the end, step by step, I'm getting to love my hair again. Your video was really helpful, thank you so much!
I moved from New York to Boston for school this year and OMG I had to chance my whole product routine because 1) my classes had me so stressed my hair was falling out and 2) the dryness was REAL because of the bitter cold and harsher water. I'm trying to nurse my mane back to health little by little!
I'm literally about to embark on this journey as an 18-year-old black girl with hair which seems at least sort of similar to hers (on the charts it looked closest to 3B or 3C) but ever since maybe 7th grade I've worn my hair pulled back and not even bothered trying to care for the curls, to the point where now it is almost always dry and mostly straight unless I've JUST gotten out of the shower and it's still wet. But yeah, I literally went to Sally's today, and I just found this video. So when she called this a sort of "starter kit" I was like "Yeessssss!!!!" and after that first tip about not washing your hair on top of your head, I felt like I had to get out my notebook because that was something I've NEVER heard of before. Like, I haven't even watched any more of the video yet, but I feel like there should be a month-long program for all people with different types of hair when you're middle-school age or something that's mandatory, because my parents have hair that's very different than mine and this is so new! But now I'm excited
THANK YOU THANK YOU FOR MAKING THIS VIDEO! All the dont's you have mentioned have I thought were the do's. Now I understand why my curls are so flat and frizzy
Omg thank you, I'm barely learning how to handle my curls. I didn't even know I had natural curls until freshman year I would always straighten and put it up But omg I'm so happy my hair is curly it's the best I always wondered why my mom and all my aunt's had curls and I didn't but it turns out I had em since I was little. my dad would brush my hair so it'd be all fluffy, he tried his best he didn't know how to do hair .
when I Do half up, half down, I wet my hair and put some conditioner. then I do the style but put each section into a tight, twisted bun. then I hope dry it on cool and leave the buns in untill I have to go
Thank you! I've been going natural and i used to hate my curly hair because i could never do shit with it and it was hard so I always got it done at the salon and had it blow dried. So thanks!
This video was beyond helpful and inspiring !! I have really natural big curly hair and I always straighten my hair because it's to much to deal with and never comes out the way I want it but I know I have to embrace my curly it's my natural beauty !! This just gave me a little more motivation that I needed put my work in and go all natural !! 😊💕
Thank you SO MUCH for this video!!!! It's been a long process trying to love and play with my natural curls and you've given me hope lol. You're a doll, I'm so excited to watch more of your videos!! (:
#9 and #10 Really hit me.. I'm sometimes stressing out about making the curls perfect & frizz-free. You are correct...we should just enjoy the freedom of being natural. thanks a lot! :)
So thankful I watched and got the tip about how to diffuse properly! Diffusing my hair always made my hair look frizzy and would make me lose definition...now I know I was doing it wrong lol thanks for the correction :)
Thanks so much! Really loved this video and everything you said about embracing your hair...and letting it be free... Is exactly what happened to me!!! I've stopped straightening my hair and I wear it curly everyday and it makes me happy to be me :)
I learned that as your hair grows, sometimes your regular product no longer works for you. My mom used Garnier Fructis ever since she BC 15yrs ago. But her hair started to become damaged and break off. I kept telling her to change out her shampoo & conditioner. She was reluctant but finally gave in last year. I put her on the new shampoo I started using and her hair started to flourish again
OMG 😂😂😂 the not skipping leg day but skipping deep conditioning day reference almost made me peed my pants!!! 😅 This is me!👀 skipped deep conditioning for months and my hair is punishing me a bit right now. 😬 I haven't skipped it for two weeks now though. 👏
can you post a video of you doing the loc routine and deep conditioning and just your hair routine on wash days and not wash days pls? i would really appreciate it!
Your video was extremely informative. Thank you for putting it together! I'm new to the curly world *i don't have curly hair but my daughter does since she's half black*. And the more I embrace her curls, the more her and I love her curly hair. I definitely learned a lot ❤️
wow an awesome positive video.. yes my hairs are fluffy and tend to pump up after wash...i liked that comment that 'dont hate your frizz'..I guess many salons made me kind of hate that frizz because they always complained abt it..but your comment was great...let the hair be how it wants to be..thanks
Ugh so helpful. My mom has Hispanic coils and my dad has wavy hair so I ended up with HUGE AND MESSS HAIR! This really helped so much! My hair looks so much better already
Watching this to learn how to take care of my daughters hair. I am a fine haired blond so I just wash condition and brush....my baby has her daddy's curly hair. I'm realising it is a whole different game and I need to learn how to take care of her hair type
I always use cantú but then i saw shea moisture and dicided to give it a try. After a month of using that product i got dandruff. And now that i got back with cantú i don't have alot.
I'm still new to accepting my curly hair (I've been off and on the fence for a couple of years. one day I'll be like "I love my curls" the next I'll be like " how much do silk perms cost" lol) so this was really helpful. thank you so much.
Girl thanks so much, this video is so helpful and will get my curls POPPING! I am already on the path to buying a diffuser now, I am so down with this plan! And you already know I'm subscribing lol.
So agree!! EMBRACE your curls! I say it to all my clients. I am very curly and I gave up fighting a long time ago. Too much work-- besides curls are beautiful. :) Good tips I agree 100%
I didn't always believe they were beautiful and I sometimes still hate them but on the grand scale of things... I will keep what I have and let them CURL
This was super helpful, the first 4 tips I knew but I'm glad I continued watching there are things in here I do like the diffusing tip. I'm always complaining my hair doesn't like being diffused. lol
*When detangling your hair outside of a shower, do tou specifically need a leave in conditioner or just regular conditioner? And get your hair completely wet or, I just need someone to help me out here.*
My hair is usually big and fluffy and curly and one time i decided to experiment by using gel to make my curls not frizzy because people would go on and on saying your hair is so frizzy and it came out curly but flat and i hated it and kept it in a bun and washed it because i missed my frizzy curly hair
1: Don’t pile your hair on your head, put shampoo on your scalp and let it rinse
2: don’t try to detangle dry or damp hair, detangle while wet and with conditioner.
3: don’t use a billion different products, in stead, pick a 3 step style with different products.
4: don’t randomly apply products and scrunch. Instead, finger detangle and smooth product down hair, then scrunch it up to provide curls.
5: don’t blow dry hair from bottom up. Dry top to bottom to reduce frizz
6: don’t buy products just because it says “no parabeans” and stuff like that. Buy it because it works, not because it’s “all natural”
7: DO NOT skip ‘deep conditioning’ day!
(Lol that made no sense:)
10: don’t be afraid of your hair. Get creative. Nobody honestly cares that much about your hair, so be fun and funky with your locks. Try new styles and be fearless. Don’t style your hair the same way all the time.
I hope you found this helpful. Have a good day, you’re blessed. Be confident.

One of the best curly hair videos I’ve seen in awhile. And I watched a lot of them. Lisette turned me on to this channel.
You look so tan and your hair got so long. The curls look fantastic!
Girl , you are serious with what you do and you do makes sense , I loved it !
Your hair is growing so fast!!
Cream before oil and you get the perfect coil, right?
Your video was really helpful, thank you so much!
this was soo helpful even tho I´ve been natural for a long time ! Thanks for the video! Good job :)
Thank you, mama! I wish I had heard this when growing up. 😢... now I'm helping my baby girl with her curls. God bless you!
"Don't skip deep conditioning day" guilty :(
I bought a brush similar to that deman brush and I actually see a difference in how my hair looks when it dries, thanks for the tip!
I didn't even know I had natural curls until freshman year I would always straighten and put it up But omg I'm so happy my hair is curly it's the best I always wondered why my mom and all my aunt's had curls and I didn't but it turns out I had em since I was little. my dad would brush my hair so it'd be all fluffy, he tried his best he didn't know how to do hair .
thought it would be just another "do/dont" video but this was honestly inspirational
when I Do half up, half down, I wet my hair and put some conditioner. then I do the style but put each section into a tight, twisted bun. then I hope dry it on cool and leave the buns in untill I have to go
Do you have a new manager now? Your content and your look is more like what it was that drew me to your channel 2 years ago. Great job Jade :)
Dr. Christine Wilson nope just getting back to my roots! Lol
Thank you! I've been going natural and i used to hate my curly hair because i could never do shit with it and it was hard so I always got it done at the salon and had it blow dried. So thanks!
What is this beautiful glow you have? Can I get it???? A tutorial on this make up look is a MUST!!!!!!!
you have so much energy!!!! you gave unique, helpful tips that weren't repetitive. Thank you so much for the upload! new subbie!
Just recently embrace my curly hair. This is so helpful to me. Thank you so much ❤️
thank you just started wearing my natural curls so this video helped alot
Her: Don't pile all of your hair on top of your head when shampooing
Me: ....
I always detangle may hear first then part it in two when washing it, then wash each part and never ever bringing the hear up, even inches.
MileydisH i havent deep conditioned in 4 months my hairs been so frizzy and dry and big and my products dont help so i started again yesterday 😂
can you post a video of you doing the loc routine and deep conditioning and just your hair routine on wash days and not wash days pls? i would really appreciate it!
So wonderful to see so many beauties with beautiful hair and brainy mindset
Your video was extremely informative. Thank you for putting it together! I'm new to the curly world *i don't have curly hair but my daughter does since she's half black*. And the more I embrace her curls, the more her and I love her curly hair. I definitely learned a lot ❤️
That hair and that makeup!! Yassss Jade you're giving me life.😍😍 I love when your hair is that length. Loved the video it was very informative! ❤
Your lipstick color is everything!!!
wow an awesome positive video.. yes my hairs are fluffy and tend to pump up after wash...i liked that comment that 'dont hate your frizz'..I guess many salons made me kind of hate that frizz because they always complained abt it..but your comment was great...let the hair be how it wants to be..thanks
This helped me a lot!! I'm glad to know that deep conditioning my hair weekly is good.
Wow this is the first video I've ever seen of you and I literally love you! You are great at what you do! I love what you said to!
I always use cantú but then i saw shea moisture and dicided to give it a try. After a month of using that product i got dandruff. And now that i got back with cantú i don't have alot.
You're definitely one of my favorite youtubers❤️ genuine, friendly, and informative l!
I have frizzy curly hair, that is why I roll my hair to have my curls and rolling it takes out most of the frizzy, but it is not heat curled.
I'm still new to accepting my curly hair (I've been off and on the fence for a couple of years. one day I'll be like "I love my curls" the next I'll be like " how much do silk perms cost" lol) so this was really helpful. thank you so much.
You have the most beautiful eyes I've ever seen! You're like glowing from inside!
Soooooooo needed to hear this!!!!!! Especially with the holy grail portion!!!!!
Girl thanks so much, this video is so helpful and will get my curls POPPING! I am already on the path to buying a diffuser now, I am so down with this plan! And you already know I'm subscribing lol.
You’re pure gold! I wish I could’ve found your channel sooner ❤️
Go girl/sister I❤U
I will keep what I have and let them CURL
your curls are soo defined! My hair is getting longer and the curls on top are getting looser & looser. Have you had this problem before?
This was super helpful, the first 4 tips I knew but I'm glad I continued watching there are things in here I do like the diffusing tip. I'm always complaining my hair doesn't like being diffused. lol
*When detangling your hair outside of a shower, do tou specifically need a leave in conditioner or just regular conditioner? And get your hair completely wet or, I just need someone to help me out here.*
My hair is usually big and fluffy and curly and one time i decided to experiment by using gel to make my curls not frizzy because people would go on and on saying your hair is so frizzy and it came out curly but flat and i hated it and kept it in a bun and washed it because i missed my frizzy curly hair
love this video😍 It was useful and this is what I was looking for to hear about do's and don't for natural curly hair. thanks jade 😄👌
hola desde perú! me encantó tu mensaje final! me encanta tener personas que sienten lo mismo que yo para no sentirme sola en esto! amo tu cabello!
"Embrace the frizz!" 😍😍😍😍
