Looking to buy one for my son for Christmas, I'm running out of time.... what would you buy. New to the hobby, he's flown drones and loves it so I figure let's try one of these, what do you prefer
JMO but I'm thinking that you only say that because you are not familiar with the Team RedCat TR-MT8E BE6S or even better is the new upgraded Team Magic E6 III V-Gen.
Can’t complain about this list. I’d add the Traxxas Summit as an honorable mention. What it lacks in speed, it makes up for in versatility and durability. It’s also $499 right now. I still have my original Summit I bought 8 years ago and it’s still running strong with no major breaks. Nothing like it out there. 👍🏻
Driftomaniacs I’d like to see that. I’ll take durability over speed any day. There’s nothing fun about having to constantly buy new parts for a car or truck that breaks from being used the way it was designed. That’s why the Summit is my favorite RC. Because I haven’t abused it, I haven’t spent much time and money on parts and repairs and it’s still running as good as the day I bought it.
Nice review mate! Have run/got most of these and would add that the Notorious/Kraton are way more durable than the E-Revo. Currently in the UK a Notorious is nearly £200 cheaper than a Maxx too! No contest! Kraton is super stable too (and £200 cheaper than an E-Revo) and when geared up can easily outperform E-revo off road. E-revo wheelies too much, balloons too much, traction rolls too much and breaks suspension components endlessly. Shame, as I do like their design and chassis strength. My lad's Notorious is a beast. He runs it on Traxxas TQi radio gear which is much better than the Arrma stuff and allows you some limited tuning on the ap. 53mph stock.
great vid as always broseph!! Im going to get an rc soon not sure I wanted the kraton 8s but then i notice parts are way cheaper all around for traxxas! but not sure might even consider the smaller maxx and now I see the E revo thats cool which one would you pick just for bashing and wanting to go fast and handle well also please let me know i really like the xmaxx what would u think will be all around best ? thanks for all the great content always!

First three videos I watched of the 8S kraton every single person bent the chassis, hence the 8s xmaxx putchase. Anyhow to answer your question, the notorious/outcast is the best 'basher' to my mind. For go fast handling it's down to the erevo or the Kraton, spares availability sways me to the erevo, and at full power on the optional pinion? Oh mama! Either is good though. No fanboy stuff here! I just love good RC cars, but don't buy that Kraton 8s! There's a lot of damn good RCs in the $500 to $600 range no matter what category you are looking at. That being said, there is a lot at $399 as well. There is some what would be around 600 from a big name company for $300 because of the size and speed but don't hold up well and require months of downtime waiting on parts.

I am thinking that coming out of covid we might see them release an 8S granite! Now that would set the world alight and take on the 8s xmaxx head on. That would tick a lot of boxes for a lot of people. The 8s Kraton.....hang on....back with you in a minute....no really.....I will be! Dang sorry I was outside catching the ball Arrma, Greg Sopa, and Horizon Hobby with the 8s Kraton! Missed catching the ball again! I said this when I first saw it, I commented likewise. Who wants a car that in the first three youtube videos bends the chassis? Plastic bends (back) Loved the handling of the 3s big rock better than the granite as at speed that longer wheelbase helps a lot. I've built some monsters awaiting the all clear! other people run stuff but me running at 90 plus aint essential! Love Arrma but they need to employ some Traxxas design guys! (And a few marketing and customer service people as best car in the world AINT worth buying if it takes 90 mins to speak to someone vs 30 secs for the competition) - I'll call it like what it is.#STAYSAFE

I think both are great brands, but I think I'm leaning more towards Traxxas as I tend to keep my vehicles stock. I think one who wants to mod vehicles would likely be better off with Arrma as I can really see their potential.

I would rather have the maxx cause it takes better beatings, also because 6s is gonna break more although I would love an arrma and I wouldn’t really call the Kraton a monster truck.
Just reading this 3 years late. The Maxx, while plastic is hands down the most durable vechile on the market. People seem to think metal is higher quality and more durable and that is most definitely not the case when speaking about the Maxx. It is deceiving because this is not made of average plastic and this is why it is priced the way it is. Arms, shocks etc are gonna break on the Kraton much faster than the Maxx. Is this a strictly Monster Truck review or not? You mentioned that you wouldn't include truggies yet the last 3 are not Monster Trucks , the are Monster Truggies. Basically, the only thing that is Monster on them are the bigger wheels on a truggy platform. So that said, you claimed Monster TRUCK specifically yet you only listed 2 true monster trucks, the first 2. Monster Truggy should be given it's own class/top 5 list as speed is not a fair competition between the two vehicle characteristics. Especially when you add in handling at speed as you have, as well as the ability to keep the front end down while getting upto speed. It's just not a fair comparison when discussing speed in particular between these different styles of RC's. If you decide to do a Monster Truggy type speed comparison, don't forget the Team Corally Kronos. The Kronos has rather large differential pinion gears, thus is faster than expected out of box. Also don't forget the JLB Cheetah, it might be cheap and not the best investment however they are known for being very fast. Lastly, something that is closer to a monster truck than the Arrma's or the Revo, is more durable and a better value out of the box, would be the Team RedCat TR-MT8E BE6S. I'm not saying that it is a Monster Truck, it is a Truggy, however it's chassis design is closer to that of a MT than that that of the E-Revo or the Arrma's you mention. There is one caveat, being the stock pinion for the BE6S comes way undergeared at only 11 teeth. It really comes alive with a not provided 16 tooth pinion. For Monster Trucks, #5 or #1 as you order them should be the Raminator! If it is slow but the cool factor is off the chart. Maybe honorable mention. Lol
Sorry to cut you off right there BUT if you look at the manufacturers website on each of these cars they specifically state them as Monster Trucks! You and I may consider some of them truggies BUT they are very specifically sold as Monster Trucks! The opposite side to this, is guess what if I did one on Truggies? Someone would say 'the manufacturer sells it as a monster truck' so you'll appreciate I can't win! So before jumping the gun again go to the website of everyone of these cars and you'll see everyone is listed as a Monster Truck - that's what I did before putting this list together.
@@DriftomaniacsRC I understand the position you unfortunately are in. For clarification, I am not classifying them as Truggies, I am say that they are Monster Truggies. I could be wrong but my understanding is that Arrma technically lists the Kraton as a Speed Monster Truck and the Outcast as a Stunt Truck. Traxxas lables the E-Revo 2.0 as a Monster Truck however I'd point out that these labels are like scale listing, they can be subjective and based on marketing. We do however have standard descriptions of the verious platforms that are more accurate as a guideline. Though I understand and appreciate where you are coming from, true Monster Trucks are not designed with speed as a priority. FYI, I enjoyed your video, I'm not complaining so much as pointing out the differences in platform and some vehicle that should have made the top of your list if including the Monster Truggy platform.
JMO
Wait why’s your camera quality worse? I swear your camera quality was better it might just be the camera not focusing
