This house is known as one of the finest examples of modernism in the world. Star architect Albert Frey lived here until his death at which point he gifted his one of a kind minimalist home to the Palm Springs Art Museum who are the custodians of the property. This private tour was graciously given to me by the museum's Managing Director Michael Hinkle and by Brooke Hodge, Director of Architecture and Design who you'll meet in the video.

I built a scale model of this house in my third year of Architecture. Grew to really love it. Reminds me of a camper on a hill with a pool. Simplicity rules.

Huell Howser was a frequent guest at the Frey House. Howser eventually relocated to Palm Springs, enjoying the lifestyle and laid back pace. Frey was a major supporter of Howser and his unique approach to covering day to day things across the state. Howser tried to interest Frey in the Salton Sea area, where he had invested in a large major estate as well as considerable acres of desert land to be developed. He was said to have consulted with Frey on that estate but that cannot be verified.

No, Tulsa ok. I have a 53' Donald hann/grubb mcm ranch. Small property. Has a paper tar/gravel low slung roof with breezeway and garage completely flat. Having Issues With Contractors Who Don't understand This style, Therefore Stalling My Restoration. Any suggestions? I fancy your glasses. The landscaping is a lot like mine. If you pop into town, please give me a ring.
disappointed 3 minutes into the 5 minute video before you got inside. I've seen pics of it for years and was hoping for a larger overall pan of the interior. My friend and I both agreed that the micro views were teasers that didn't give an overall understanding of the layout.
