- Hacked off the resonator from the stock exhaust on my 06 Chevy Trailblazer and replaced it with a straight pipe and a cheapy chrome tip. This video highlights the sound difference between the two.
I have an 05, I removed the muffler and resonator from the exhaust and tossed on a "rumble" 2 chamber muffler(made by magnaflow) and was impressed! It sounds sweet i.m.o, definitely ricey but let's face it, its a straight 6...id skip a glasspack as they actually do quiet it down more than I wanted and sounds kinda like a tractor/jeep cherokee 🤣🤣sorry jeep guys
Now I need to delete the intake resonator too
I put a Dynomax Super Turbo muffler on my 2005 TB LS & she sounds nice! I also had to put a new catalytic converter on because some 🤬 stole my OE one. But it made a huge difference in freeing up the exhaust some more👍🏿 I kept the resonator on but I'm gonna chop that resonator off next week when my mechanic changes my upper ball joints! Also the fresh coils & AC Delco Iridium plugs & Wix filters & Mobil Super 5000 oil didn't hurt either 😁
Much better. Gonna try that !
Sweet!
Did you notice any mileage or performance gains?
Bill Hart - none whatsoever. this was purely a cosmetic/sound differing mod only. no noticeable or appreciable performance or efficiency gains.
you will not get any on a trailblazer without a tune
did you weld the hanger back on, or just left it off
Didn't have to weld anything. As I recall, the tip I put on weighed almost nothing so it bolted right to the pipe and was just there. The tip could also be attached by other means like welding I suppose.
what are the pipe dimensions and where did u get the tip?
Is there any loss of back pressure??? Pros ?? Cons
no loss of backpressure, it literally just makes it a little louder and have a throatier note. thats all. you'll have to decide for yourself if those are pros or cons. ;)
@@raygumm yea like can engine noise get tedious
not from in the cab, no. it doesnt really sound any louder when driving. i only barely noticed a difference from stock when inside the truck.
@@raygumm great work and thanks for sharing your thoughts
Is this a V6? Im looking into getting a 4x4
Carson Laszaic
it was an I6-an Inline 6 cylinder motor.
if you want a nice cheap 4x4, the trailblazers/envoys are a solid choice. not as much aftermarket mod support as say a jeep cherokee or the like, but definitely a sexy ride. and they're still kinda unique and gettin less expensive as the years pass.
while i love the I-6 motor, mine threw a rod after only 150k miles so i'd almost go with the V8 option to these if i were to get one in the future. it's got only slightly worse mileage and as my pappy once said: 'you can fix a smallblock chevy anywhere anytime with duct tape and bailing wire'.
Raymond Gumm Alright cool thank you!
Raymond Gumm Im currently looking at an LS that is 4x4 4.2L V6 07’ should I keep looking?
Carson Laszaic
if you are looking at a trailblazer 4.2 it's an I6. not a v6.
pm me and we can talk more about this.
You just clip that tip right to the cut pipe? Maybe i coukd get my neighbor to weld it
It's a bolt on.. don't really wanna weld it on coz then it will be that much harder to take off. Put threadlock on the bolts and screwed it down hard.
Where can you get a pipe like that?
got it at Advance Auto Parts for like >$20.
I want to do this to my trailblazer, what size pipe is it?
Jason Frey 4 inch
does it still pass emissions???
Chevyguy nolie
not sure it was tagged and garaged in West Virginia and they do not require emissions. i figure tho if it would have passed before it probably would have after as i didn't mess with the catalytic converter at all.
hes my father
+MAY03LT Thank ya sir!
That's the muffler not the resonator. Resonator is in the middle.
+mazdarati2 no, the resonator is in the back. logicly you would think so but its backwards

You know about cars
That is actually the resonator on the TrailBlazer. if you don't believe the Internet/comment crowd, look up the Walker replacement exhaust system parts for the Trailblazer/Envoy/etc family. I also had a 1965 Pontiac 2+2 with a 421/4bbl. The mufflers were definitely located behind the down pipes from the exhaust manifolds and as the duals ran to the rear of the car it had resonators located tucked up in front of the rear bumper with turndowns. I have an 02' TrailBlazer 4x4 with the L6 inline, or I should say my wife has an 02' and I just pay for everything. I am looking at removing the factory muffler and replacing it with straight pipe to the tailpipe. The resonator is going also to be replaced by a single 2.5" inlet/dual 2.5" outlets with turndowns.
Looks like it needs some sugar in the engine
