- Metal Gear 2: Solid Snake movie is here! If you have not played Metal Gear 2 before or just want to see the epic game again? Then this video might be for you. This one includes better editing, quality, music fixes and new features. In this video you see all the epic MG 2 moments and story. I have also edited many cutscenes and added new music but done it so that it is faithful to the orginal MG2 so here is something new also for those who have already experiensed this epic game. Hope you enjoy!
Solid Snake must infiltrate Zanzibar Land, a heavily defended territory located in Central Asia to rescue a kidnapped scientist and destroy the revised Metal Gear D. The game significantly evolved the stealth-based gameplay of its predecessor "in almost every way," introduced a complex storyline dealing with themes such as the nature of warfare and nuclear proliferation, and is considered "one of the best 8 bit games ever made." - Ігри
During the intro you can already feel how everything's gotten more serious. Now the truck have really started to move.
I feel asleep after watching this. hahaha
What?
Michael Cordero lol, the sentence “The truck have started to move” is a reference to the first Metal Gear game. It was a typo/bad translation from in game text! Ahaha, did you not know about it?🤣✌🏻I hope that cleared up your confusion! Also the other comment about “I feel asleep” is also another one, lmao! 😂😂👌🏼
@@Kat-Bat finally someone got that! 😂
Kat Bat It was also a port of the msx version
Solid Snake: I love life!
Big Boss: I´ll release you from your suffering
lol.
*before the boss fistfight*
Gray Fox: "Snake! It's time for you to learn why they call me Fox!"
*Snake uses the radio to literally learn why people call him Fox*
Hey man, Snake's a rookie here, give him a break.
Snake:Colenel Why do they call Frank, Grey Fox
Cambell:I dont know you'll probably have to talk to Big Boss about that
Snake:Damn
@@MemesToa Not really a rookie, he took down a military nation, destroying metal gear and killed big boss 4 years before this
But not really "killed" obviously
@@05r41 Well... Spoiler:
He killed venom snake, the one we control in MGS5. Still pretty good
It cracks me up that as far back as MG2 Snake was still repeating everything people said back to them with incredulity.
Durandal Callidus psycho mantis?
Hyperguy2000 shadow Moses?
Incredulity?
With incredulity????
Metal Gear? It can't be...
Just imagine a REMAKE both Metal Gear and Metal Gear 2: Solid Snake, put in together! With David Hayter and Keifer Sutherland!
+Jack Rappen ew
+Bludgeon Samurai ?
+Jack Rappen Hell yeah! That would be just perfect.
+Jack Rappen not needed, the games are perfect the way they are.
+Bludgeon Samurai Nothing is perfect.
It's pretty damn awesome to think that even back then, the Metal Gear games that were coming out were still placed in a universe with very close ties to our own with heavy themes on violence, politics, nuclear war, child soldiers, existentialism, it's like the Metal Gear Games double as a platform to have philosophical debates, questions, and ideas. It's pretty incredible when you think about it.
very impresive from a 1990 game
000mjd without a doubt.
+IamCaptainMan It is frightening to think what our current education system is like in Great Britain right now 2016 where debate, questions and ideas are not permitted unless they fit the politically correct agenda.
TABRAO Interesting, you're saying there is no place in the educational system to discuss current events, debate, or anything like that? Is it really looked down upon?
+IamCaptainMan
Existentialism?
This is such a crucial game in the Metal Gear Saga. It bridges the gap between the Big Boss era and the first Metal Gear Solid game. I can't imagine anyone skipping this game (or Metal Gear 1) when playing the series in chronological order.
Metal gear 1 is pretty bare bones in terms of story and really only serves to set up things well for the sequel. I’d recommend playing it but all that needs to be known about it could be summed up in two to three sentences
...And Holly was never mentioned by Snake or anyone else in the series again.
elviade She's not, her only appearance was in MG2 Solid Snake.
+Flavio Osco with her cats
To this day she's still waiting for Snake to take her out to dinner.
@@TheSkully343 man just imagine at the end of mgs4, snake finally has that dinner with Holly. that would be so bitter-sweet
@@JamesPlaysGames95 No chance. Women don’t have that much patience. You are out. :)
53:43 The Boss' words, misunderstood from Jack. She wanted to break THIS exact circle, not fuel it more. Poor Jack.
"I love life" cant imagine David Hayter's voice as Snake actually saying that. It be too funny.
That line isn't really that weird for him to say given that MGS fans can easily imagine him saying "I love cardboard boxes".
+Sincerely AdDatHom Really? He may have loved it at the time, but after retiring he became a post traumatically stressed alcoholic. The huskies were his therapeutics. The man just killed his father on top of all other things. It took some convincing to bring him out of retirement but do you think he still wanted anything to do with the U.S. Government/Foxhound afterwards.
Kojima needs to stop being a pick and bring dave back he is 🐍. If there going to make more series. Theres alot of unanswerd things in mgsv
@@jeremyarroyo360 thank Konami for that unanswered questions
I just watched the end of MGS and it's Snake giving a long speech about how we need to love life, so it doesn't seem unusual.
18:58
"The cheetah has lost to a snake? How could this happen?"
"I guess you weren't fast enough."
(Not only) *Mind blown*
Burned
+Skirakzalus OHHHHHH!
why did Quiet speak :'c
I WISH THEY WOULD MAKE A LIVE ACTION MOVIE OF MGS BECAUSE IT WILL BE GREAT NOT KONAMI, IM TALKING ABOUT KOJIMA.
That kind of made me feel like when Snake says to Psycho Mantis: "The strong man doesn't need to see the future, he makes his own."
Man, I always knew Metal Gear Solid had a some homages to this game, but there were WAY more than I thought there were.
This game was the blueprint for Metal Gear Solid 1 and the whole series going forward. This game was so far ahead of its time.
"I'm Gustava Heffner."
"That's right, you're Gustava Heffner!"
"...you must be mistaken."
Watching this to get ready to play MGS a second time, and I yelled "NOOOOO!!" out loud at the bridge with Gustava.
It's been mentioned, but so much DNA seen in MGS titles shine through here.
Isn`t that weird that old doctor Madnar almost choked Snake to death? :D
To me it's weirder that you may have to use several landmines to shake him off your back
It weirded me out at first, but I remembered that Snake has a line earlier in the game when he says Madnar shaped himself up, meaning Madnar probably worked out a little bit. From what I know Snake is only 5' 10" or 5' 11", while Madnar seems to be taller than him. I think it makes sense that a bigger guy could choke a smaller guy. Had this been rendered in modern MGS style, the scene probably would've had Snake throw Madnar off his back, or escape the grip.
The best part about it all is that he survives
That whole part made no sense to me how's an out of shape old man of a scientist going to be a challenge to gifted mercenary like solid snake.
My theory is that he turned himself into a cyborg before the events of this game .
I love how the change the original mug shots to look like the current characters, I remember snake looking a lot like Mel Gibson and big boss like Sean Connery in the original
"Shnake... Welcome to Zanzibar Land..."
It was a change for the better. The new images look so much better and more anime-like.
He's based on Michael Biehn. Well, the box art was.
need to destroy a helicopter? granades
need to destroy metal gear? granades
fuck, the answers to all our questions? GRANADES
Nanomachines, son.
BirriaBoy64 In first one the answer to all bosses was Remote-controlled Missiles. You killed Metal Gear with C-4. XD
Nexus Verbal ROFL!!!!
BirriaBoy64 You forgot:
Need to destroy a tank? Grenades.
2+2 is grenades.
For the times this game's plot is amazing. Putting aside the silly names, we have a plot dealing with horrors of war, politics, and that the side the hero is fighting isn't automatically the good guys with the number of villains we see who have been burned by the western world.
Big Boss doesn't get a lot of screen time in this game but what he does fleshes him out as a horrifying villain who wants to perpetuate war so soldiers have a place, an idea we would see fleshed out more in later games.
Solid Snake getting more dialogue sets him up as the jaded bitter man who lost so much by the end of this game that he just wants to retire.
Thus resulting in his cranky way of thinking by the beginning of MGS1.
some of the music in this is honestly beautiful
You know its an old game when they call it robotology.
'It is the late 1990s...The world is embarking on an age of peace and stability'- Yeah, 'cos that lasted
*laughs in 9/11*
Gulf War, Bosnia, Kosovo, Serbia, Afghanistan, Iraq....
Bin Laden chuckles
The world is much more peaceful now than it was during the Cold War. But now with Putin that could change...
butcher Biden chuckles
This game is such a massive improvement compared to the original
I'd argue it's right up there and close to the solid series in terms of quality, it is a legit masterpiece that IMO is not hindered in any way by the 8-bit limitation somehow (and that alone is monumental)
@@Magic_M_Hayashi The music is actually extremely good too, I don't know if it popped up as homages in the newer games on not but its just asking for it because its so good. Sucks us in the US didn't really get a chance to play it back in the day. Solid would've definitely hit harder if we did. No one I knew even had a MSX
@@shinkibigami9 for sure. I think we were deprived of being able to fully appreciate MGS1 because we didn't get this game, there were so many references to it in MGS1.
Sad thing is, we actually are pretty close to perfecting a real life Oilix, but almost all the funding was redirected after the shale boom. We have the organisms, we just needed more time/money to extract the oil. T_T
And the game is set in '99 ahaahahah we are 21 years late
Personally, I want them to remake the Metar Gear 1 and 2 after Phantom Pain, as a sort of finishing touch to the series. It would be cool to see Snake in his younger days in a 3D form
Kojima finishing off the series....where it all first began!
that would be incredible, especially seeing a young solid snake with david hayter coming back!
And the dialogue from Snake and Big Boss with actual voice acting. We could really feel more emotion from Snake, Big Boss and even Grey Fox
TheWLX agreed
and it's Gray Fox*
Hell Yeah
Dude, we all wanna see next gen Fox Engine remakes of Metal Gear & Metal Gear 2: Solid Snake.
it sucks when you think all these games where you play as Solid Snake, you are just a pawn of Zero fighting against Big Boss and his world vision.
grillskillz wrong
grillskillz You obviously don't understand anything to do with Metal Gear
grillskillz see last comment then return to your home in Noobonia.
I think its the La Li Lu Le Lo that's making you think that way..
Well Big Boss and Zero were both wrong in their ways. If you watch the ending to MGS4 where big boss and snake talk it makes sense.
After 1 hour of this, I can finally play mgs 1 without confusion!
Honestly, if they ever remade these first two games in the current engine that Kojima uses, I think these games would do well with emulating the 70's/80's style of ridiculous, bombastic appeal of odd characters with the story telling that Kojima brings to the table with every game he makes.
It'd be ridiculous with top notch voice acting and brilliant, redesigned game mechanics.
Huh
The Phantom Pain made these two games very interesting.
No, they were already amazing.
+Knives Millions Blame Konami. They cut several missions from the end of the game, along loads of content. V has fantastic gameplay, the best even, but Konami fucked the story. I wanted to see BB's descent into madness and hatred, not some clone (BB hates clones, like solid/liquid, unless he needs a human shield?!) and scape goat. they fucked up snake and ocelot's personalities too.
+Knives Millions You do realize he left because of the shit pay and working conditions, right? I fail to see how any of that is Kojima's fault. Either way, at least we got some kind of conclusion, and another wonderful game.
+YSoSrs? I'm glad I'm not the only one with this opinion. I loved it. but it's not the traditional mgs game.
l thought he meant TPP made these interesting because of what we now know from it.
After finishing the phantom pain and learning "the truth", I had to watch what happens again in metal gear and metal gear 2. Next is metal gear solid! Mind blown!!
Thank you for this. This and mgs2 are my favorites in the series and this is a great video to send people who don't have the means or time to play mg2ss.
That most adult serious 8 bit game ever
does anyone feel sad and hurt to see big boss, a good well intentioned soldier, turn out to be a depressed pessimistic villan after all that time we spent playing him? I miss the MGS3 snake.
Us government did that to him. Him killing the boss for nothing was cold
he was never a good well intentioned soldier. the prequels are made with the knowledge of the first metal gear games, not the other way around. his motive has never been peace, hes never had good intentions for anyone but himself. it all started with him misinterpreting the boss's will. after mgs 3 his sole purpose is growth for the sake of keeping soldiers fighting. he manipulates his comrades, he basically kidnaps every soldier in MSF, even kaz, his closest friend, he got by kidnapping him and giving him an ultimatum of death, or joining him.
big boss was only ever honorable in his talent at killing and his intentions were almost only good when the ones paying him had good intentions
well we didnt play Big Boss in his later years. only peace walker and mgs 3.
What good intention? Big Boss was always a piece of shit. Big Boss fanboys are stupid.
52:03 That's no fucking minefield, that's a metal room. In Metal Gear Solid 1 when I first heard the story about this moment, I pictured an epic, bloody battle in the grassy, African plains of Zanzibar, not some fist fight in a metal box
If they ever remake this game on the FOX-engine (which they will), they should definitely make some changes to this scene.
*****
He still made some bad mistakes, he kinda enjoyed war... He isn't your typical hero anymore. He will fight for revenge in Phantom Pain, just as the Trailer already says.
Two things:
1-) That's not really Zanzibar, it's Zanzibar Land (a fictional place).
2-) I'm not completly sure if they'll remake these two games with the FOX Engine. We need reliable confirmation first.
filipeflower
Thanks for telling me what I already knew, Point Dexter
-_-
filipeflower Capitol of Zanzibar Land: Zanzibar.
Kevin Striker You sure about that?
you know that Big Boss knows all kinds of crazy tech , when hes clearly showing off anti-acid boots 54:32
Thanks so much for uploading these!
I'm supposed to believe that the old scientist could attempt to choke out the Legendary Solid Snake... NOPE!
+Evan Velez Well to his defense, snake was still fairly young...Would have pay to see that In 3d though hahahaha!
+nobodyinterestingyou That battle would be hilarious to play in 3d
+Evan Velez You find that hard to believe? I find it hard that he could defeat the legendary soldier called BIG BOSS.
Old people can be very strong lol. And what's not to say Madnar picked up a little cqc from big boss?
Dr Madnar vs Solid Snake.
Madnar wins.
It seems like Snake gets some enjoyment of hitting on women, having dramatic and romantic scenes with them, and as soon as the mission is over and aftervthe credits roll, he bolts. First holly, then Meryl.
Just like James Bond. Though it's funny that it's the other way around w/ Big Boss and Eva.
***** Totally. It really just makes Solid Snake even *more* of a classic action legend.
+Ugluk Zo Rug AdDatHom I think it's a matter of contrast. Boss was always a bit awkward. If you pay a good amount of attention with BB in his games and Solid Snake in his games, they both have similarities, but not just physically, they share some personal attributes too. They are loyal to the cause they fight for, but to contrast- Boss was always more methodical and careful, like how he acted around EVA during Snake Eater and how he was easily able to detect Professor Galvez' white lies and such in Peace Walker. He never stayed until he same place long (figuratively speaking), he was always a step ahead, hence his plan to orchestrate the events of MGSV to create his phantom, and have that BB lead his legacy while he kept in the dark, creating his army on his own with little help. Solid Snake was just as strong as his father, but he wasn't the sharpest tool in the shed compared to BB. Snake is definitely smart, but he kind of relies on Otacon for Intel so he can plan accordingly.
SaNdSoN4040 i agree. Still think Solid is a cut above though, this man beat big boss with a fucking lighter and hair spray.
@@NeO_SaNdMaN4040 lol what. Big Boss is dumb af sometimes though.
They need too remake Metal Gear and Metal Gear 2 Fox Engine and David Hayter doing the voice of a young Solid Snake would be sweet.
Jungle Evil...
...really?
Luke Donaghy Probably sounds better in Japanese.
Better than "Coward Duck" :p
Or Shoot Gunner...
+Tyler Moon machinegun kid is the worst of the lot
+Luke Donaghy he was initially called "Predator", naturally they had to change it for copyright reasons
Brilliant disguise. Be the only woman at a base and decide that using the male bathroom is not right. LOL
He took Metal Gear down with a handful of grenades... If Kojima is going to remake this, this would be funny to see.
Because he is Solid Snake, bitch
Yes
Hey there. If you wish you can check out my 'Metal Gear 2: Solid Snake (1990)' walkthrough guide on my channel. It is the original European version of the game on the MSX2. I tried to make it as short and helpful as possible while also going through all the main story dialogue. I hope you guys find some help from it. If you have any questions just post a comment. Thank you.

Hal Emmerich I'm happy to hear that. You're welcome!
Dude your MG movie videos are so cool :) It´s my favorite freaking saga of all time.
Suscribed. :DDD
This is perfect! thank you!! I wanted to see this games story but with the updated characters and translation of the one included in the MGS3 Subsistance version. Thanks again!
This game is so awesome!
I've beaten it two times and with MGSV on the way, I wanna do it again.
The atmosphere, the music and the characters are all tight!
After hearing about how annoying some parts of this game are I am glad that this exists.
Well, the music is really neat o-o
Love how Gray Fox and Snake have a heart to heart then fox explodes😂
It was trip playing this AFTER MGS1. Because I was able to really realize the gaps I had when I first played MGS1. So much went over my head until I played this game and it all clicked.
I'm so glad they found a way to include soldier mannequins in the story.
I love the bosses on here! Would be awesome to have a Metal Gear/ Metal Gear 2 remake!!!
Yeah they’re such an improvement from the first game where the bosses were borderline broken with how bad they were. Granted everything in this game is a huge improvement from the first so it makes sense
Love the intro!
Nice, keep up the great production bro!

MG 2 is highly underrated!

IM GONNA MISS SOLID SNAKE SO MUCH BECAUSE HE IS THE LEGEND & A HERO TOO.
Kind of a bummer they didn't remake the older games would have been cool to see more of gray fox with better gameplay and graphics.

@elviade well do you want to say that in Yugoslavia there were candies?
Yes
So Big Boss was the one who set the main idea for the war economy...create war, war create victims, save the victims, train them and then send them to the battelfield, now i understand why Big Boss become a fallen legend
Thanks for the video!
'Metal Gear 2: Solid Snake' is my favourite game in the series. It's one of the most underrated/overlooked games of all time, people don't realize how much of a masterpiece this game is.
Also what version of the game did you use?
The original Metal Gear, even though the story was very bare bones, was much more epic because the TX was terrifying to look at, and the ending where big boss is standing in the room waiting to kill you, it felt legitimately like an 80s action movie.
Gray Fox: heartfelt farewell, blows up*
The Gustava bathroom scene is the same exact scene with Meryl on MGS1 xD
Note 1:All scene was given by 3rdy that longplay of this game
Note 2:Creator has cut some scene that 3rdy enter the game saving screen, get a game over, building site change screen, building floor change screen or mistaken to doing something
Best movie ever.
HORYSHIET I'VE BEEN WAITING FOR THIS.

What the fuck?! They even took inspiration from the theme of Terminator.
the names of the bosses are amazing; running man, RUN!

what happened to the brooch that changes shape?
Another must-watch now that MGS V is about to launch!

+Rasuke11 Why the fuck do you comment on everyone elses' comments? Why do you have such an obsession over a virtual "female" videogame character? Priorities, man. Real-life priorities, like not wasting time on youtube; commenting on everyone's shit just to state your point. You're like those Quiet extremists.
Kyle247l you're edgy
Tomboys
So wait.. Frank Jaeger killed the woman he loved with Metal Gear? Why did he do that?
its MGS thts why!
elviade Very good point. I didn't even think about the fact that Madnar stops in the middle. I initially thought it was just him looking back for a second. I thought the Metal Gear blew up the bridge since it walked up immediately after the explosion, but your explanation makes sense, thanks.
He unknowingly killed the woman he loved, its a bit of an ironic twist.
elviade I think you're wrong. There's a shot coming from above on the screen that means it's just Metal Gear which destroys the bridge. Maybe Gray Fox didn't even see there was somebody on, maybe he was only ordered to
shoot after Madnar had passed.

Actually, this predates Metal Gear Solid.
Snake sure loves christmas
55:40 Every Breath You Take with a Twin Peaks feel.
"I love life"~ solid snake
This is Solid Snake... Come in.
Konami I want remakes on the FOX engine !
Nice one :D
intro music is awesome...
I guess the spray can really is mightier than the machine gun after all
the electro soundtracks are top notch
Wish konami would remake metal gear 1/2, the story materials are there, now that kojima is no longer with them, n people would jump on the opportunity to experience this games in a more modern way
17:52 The original MG games were chock full of surprises who would have expected Arnold Schwarzenegger to show up.
That was so good, I wonder what ever happened to Holly.
They went down to the cellar for some Popsicles!!!
compliments of Herbert
Am I the only one who hears Snake repeating the last word of a sentence in his head? xD "Dr. Kio Marv!?" "A Green Beret!!??"
that "see you on the other side" death flag
You know, the more I think about it, Kiefer Sutherland as Big Boss does make perfect sense. I mean, Jack Bauer was a man willing to use violence and torture to get what he wants. Now that makes him a hero in 24, but in a pacifistic series like Metal Gear...
does the epiloge remind anyone else of kojima?
"he really loved games from the bottom of his hearth"
"he was entangled in a pointless political game... and it cost him his life(carrer)"
feels like kojima predicted his own future
Well... I guess that changed xD
@@RenanBullit11 How did that change at all.

Aw, you skipped the owl bit? Nevertheless, great video, thanks.
