- We are finally finishing the last Story Of... In Metal Gear Canon. Let's take a trip back to the year I was born and celebrate the sequel that almost didn't happen - Metal Gear 2: Solid Snake. Who knew an NES title named Snakes Revenge would push the Metal Gear franchise - and Hideo Kojima - in a whole new direction?
A retired Solid Snake is called back into action when Zanzibar Land kidnaps a very important scientist and becomes the sole nuclear power in the world.

While making this video I decided I am going to make a "how MG1 + 2 shaped the franchise" edit detailing all the similarities and callbacks to the two originals throughout the franchise. Since many people still haven't played (or in my case, finished because it's hard lol) there may be a lot of details that fall through the cracks. The beauty is in the details and I didn't want to bombard this video with references so look for that in the next couple weeks! :)

Instead of remaking MGS3 I wish they would remake the first Metal Gear or Metal Gear 2
I was so eager of some sort of reboot after mgsV was getting closer to outer heaven, too bad it never happened
They need to remake and rewrite both in a single game similar to MGS2 Tanker-Plant.

I listened to the whole thing believing that you had at least 300k subscribers, this video had 50k likes and you had a full community. The line that sounds like TPP is how Zanzibarland seized every nuclear weapon.
Looking at TPP infiltration missions to neutralise nuke stuff around the world, this subject was well used 25 years before TPP.
Every Metal Gear game have connections between each other, that one is part of it.

Fun fact Madnar returns behind the scenes that helps Raiden numerous of times. Getting his real blood back after MGS2 and giving him cyborg parts in MGS4 and upgrading his body in MGR.

I finally decided to play for the first time the whole Metal Gear franchise, so I bought the Metal Gear Solid Legacy Collection for the PS3, tried to play the MSXs ones, but it's so hard and the are a lot backtracking that I decided to watch UA-cam videos, now I feel prepared to play Metal Gear Solid, hope that I can finish that one
They are very hard for me as well! I think as long as you know the story of the first two you’ll be good to go! Metal gear solid is sooo much easier to play and enjoy!! Have fun!

Just finished your MG1 video, and halfway through this one now. I tried playing MG1, but found it a bit too hard for my modern day gaming brain 😂 and wanted to get the story in full before I play MGS1 again.
I was 14 when MGS1 came out, and it's still one of my all time favourite games (and franchises).
I'm loving these story recaps, you make them enjoyable and not too long, thank you! And I only knew the brief outline of story from the original Metal Gear games.

My favorite game series ever. I just recently finished this game for the first time (I'd been putting it off for some goofy reason haha) Been with this series since 1999 after I played MGS for the first time. The neat thing about this and metal gear solid is that they follow the same story beats but with different characters and locations I’ve only played the metal gear solid games and only knew about metal gear and metal gear 2 from my instruction manual and it said the games only came out in Japan which would be the case until metal gear 2 was included in metal gear solid 3!

Awesome video all the way through I wish I had played those games but didn’t have the pc for it and I was just a kid then! I hope you would do a video on the metal gear game for Nintendo I never got to finish it. The second game on Nintendo felt out of place for the franchise and got away from the spy stuff and sadly to say more Americanized than the other games! But awesome work on narrating these games great old school classics kids today will learn alot from this! A lot memory and drawing maps to know where you are. Games today no longer require you do that stuff less thinking. Please keep up the great videos you got mad skills and glad to know metal gear fans out here!

They should remake the first 2 Metal Ger Games, Metal Gear from 1987 my birth year and Metal Gear 2: Solid snake from 1990

I agree with the guys here, the remake should've been MG+MG2 in a single game, keeping it simple, but taking it to modern levels of graphics, sound, and gameplay.
Chapter I could be MG and Chapter II MG2.
I don't know why, but I imagine something more like MGS2 and 3 than 5 with that hypothetical remake.

I played and beat this on PS Vita. It is a great game, very epic. But I hated the swamp. That part totally brings my fun factor to zero very quickly. Other than that it's be cool if we got a new game that had Metal Gear 1 and 2 with modern graphics and a revised script.
Would love to see these brought to life with current tech!
Hot take: I think the graphics and presentation are fine, and I would like to see the series remastered on the msx engine, but with quality of life upgrades like cqc, hold ups, and persistent guard bodies.

Great video on this! Im watching these in order of the playlist on your channel and i got a little confused about the ending of this one. Is this big boss... the real big boss? Or is it venom again? At the end of your first Metal Gear video you mentioned the twist with phantom pain so im a little confused who is who in this game
Thank you! & yeah this is the real big boss as venom was taken out in mg1. The patriots recovered his body after mg2 and Frankenstein’d him and kept him comatose until 4 when the system freed him

I'm so grateful for these videos. I'm just getting into the metal gear franchise but these games HAVE NOT aged well. I understand that people love these game. but getting into it in 2023 just isn't for me lol. I finished the first one but it was actually insufferable for me. the backtracking and the map design was a huge turn off for me. I get that for 1987 standards the game was great, but 36 years later... it's rough.
at least MGS1 is much better in the gameplay department as well as MGS2 and ESPECIALLY 3.

Snake left Holly for the same reason he left Meryl. His PTSD nightmares and struggles with finding purpose in life. In the end Big Boss was right to an extent. Snake knew nothing but combat and could never truly live his life in peace... That is before Big Boss in MGS4 told him it's finally time to set aside the gun and live as not a soldier, but as a man. I think after he broke up with Meryl, that's why he never perused another relationship after. Although he did show a bit of interest in Otacon's sister. Lol
