Not to get into too much detail here, but the "RNG" for getting the slots to assist you are based on hexadecimal values in an index table, and different actions in battle provide different changes in the values. The battles start at a value of 0, and then using the echo screen moves the index by 10 hexadecimal values, which aligns with the game helping you get 7-7-7, or at least allowing the end result to be 7-7-7 (i.e., the game isn't blocking that result, making it impossible). However, in the earlier versions of the game, it was actually the smoky animation from using the echo screen that caused the change in value. In the Pixel Remaster version, it just says "Miss," so I'm not 100% sure if that is counting it or not. As you can see in the video, I was successful, but was that just super lucky or the RNG helping me? I've been trying other combinations to get another hexadecimal value in the index table to work, but I'm not sure it's producing any better results than the echo screen's "miss." I'll keep toying around with it to see if I can get something more consistent. My current method is using the Rasp and Imp spells a number of times, but I can usually just get 7-7-Diamond or something, and I haven't been able to get 7-7-7 with it. If anyone can dig into the weeds with me and help find an answer, I'm sure the community would appreciate it!
I tried this method and Joker's Death killed my party on the very first attempt 😂😂😂 10 minutes later the same thing happened 10 minutes later it worked! Thanks
I got it to work with the pause method. For the first two 7's, make sure that the 7 is just barely visible at the top of the slot while paused then press resume game and the slot as quick as you can and it should work. The third 7 is a little rigged. I just timed it out with the pace and the 7 comes after the silver dragon and I paused there and resumed as quick as I could and got it.
I was pulling my hair out trying to get this. I got it after maybe 15 20 attempts using a mix of auto battle and trying for myself, ended up getting it doing it the legit way using echo screens and then slots and counting the 7's as they pass. Did this in the desert next to narshe.
Anyone having trouble with this, the pause trick worked waaaaaay better for me. The trick with pausing is do the pause when there's just the bottom of the 7's tip is visible at the top of the slot. it's 100% guaranteed to be enough time to unpause and immediately hit the button to land for the first 2 slots. Slot 3, I found getting the dragon positioned above the slot line to be the sweet spot to get the 7, but I had to sort of do different positioning of the dragon (icon before 7 in 3rd slot) to find the sweet spot. It did take me about 30 minutes to trial and error figure out how to get this pause method to work, but once I did it only took maybe 20 tries to nail it. 3rd slot just didn't behave the same as the other 2 or I was just slower to unpause and press the button... not sure, but the pause method I found to be way easier. Don't give up!
Pause trick with waiting till the bottom of the 7 is in the top worked perfectly, thank you so much. I did this for each row individually and got it within 20 mins thank god.

Man I get the first two sevens great but then that last one screws me every time I'm either too early or too late and I can't hit anything in between to hit that 7.
@@jamesmiller5331 Yea it's a royal pain the hindquarters, you'll have to find the "sweet spot" for the third slot. Try different positions for the Dragon in slot 3. It's a timing thing, but don't give up once you start experimenting with the dragon position in slot 3 you'll understand the best timing to get the 7.
I got it by doing the autobattle method against the guardian in Vector: Select only Setzer in your team, make the game battle speed very fast, give him 2 hermes sandals do a first "Slot" and then autobattle the rest of the battle. Repeat every time Setzer kills himself. You can watch a movie (or several movies) while doing this, all you need to do is look out for when Setzer kills himself. Note: you can only find guardian as an unbeatable enemy at the door of Vector during this time of the game I think
The counting out loud is actually what helped me. After autobattling for a few hours with no luck, I tried following your count out loud method and, no kidding, got it on my first try. Thank you!

I tried this method for quite a while and got consistent with hitting the first two 7s but always either got the diamond or dragon on the third slot. Then I started to pause buffer, guaranteed the first two 7s but still had the same issue with the third 7, I even set my controller up to turbo the button and no matter the position of the reel would still always get the diamond unless the reel was so far back then it would give me a dragon. How i got it in the end was having a party of Terra + Setzer + Gogo and went to the dino forest. I set Terra to dualcast heals, one on the enemy to keep it alive and one on the party and just toggled auto battle on and off on her turn so i didnt have to keep doing the inputs. Then with Setzer and Gogo used Slot command. I used pause buffering to guarantee the first two 7s then manually timed the third 7. This took about 10 minutes. I'm assuming you still need some good luck with the RNG but this method gives you a lot of Slot command attempts without having to reload all the time.
Guys, I searched high and low on all the reddit posts. This is the trick to anyone who is still struggling. Use full 4 party members, go to vector and face the guardian. Equip setzer with hermes sandal and auto battle settings is on in the configuration. Set up all the other 3 members with defend whilst setzer with the slot and on auto battle. This took me 5 minutes and the trophy popped!
Tried everything and still couldn't get it; Imma save this spot separately and continue the story. If I don't get it by the end fo the game, I'll just reload this save to farm for it.
I suck at the timing. What worked for me was putting Seltzer in solo party and fought the guardian in Vector over and over on auto battle. Several deaths later it finally hit the guardian and the trophy popped.
If anyone is struggling, I tried various methods and the one that always failed was Auto Battle. 60 Jokers Death fails before I gave up and went the manual route. Once I tried manual long getting it, it happened after 50 attempts or so. I recommend fighting the Guardian at the front of Vector for this, so you don’t have to worry about restarting the battle or dying unless you get 77bar.
Tried getting this achievement on auto battle around Dino Forest for hours with no luck. Tried this method on a Test Rider in Narshe and got it first try. You're the fucking man
So I couldn't time my button presses at all, but I got it by using a Echo Screen, then using the pause method. Took a few tries but I got it. The first two 7's are easy, but the third is a pain. The key is getting the tip of the 7 just visible as it the fastest on the 3rd slot, so you've got to spend a good amount of time getting it just right.
Unreal, brother. I doubted and I was proven wrong. 30 hours of Setzer slots-ing every battle through my normal playthrough ended with 5 minutes of Echo Screens. Thanks!
Ps5 here, got it on aurobattle plus echo screen facing Guardian in Vector. I spent around 5 hours. Pausa trick was hurting my hand really bad (not worth it)
I found easier to just leave the other two members on defend and Setzer on slots command. Change setting to fast battle speed and auto battle. And just let it play and hope it hits spins enough. Quicksave frequently whenever you get any level ups. Free grind. Took me about 40ish mins on auto battle. It joker hits your party reload the quick save.
I didn't have any Echo Screens but what I did was put everyone but Setxer to Def. Then I started Setxer slot and just keep Auto Battling until I got it.
I can see though spinning number 7! On a 1st start I almost had it! Later I almost got it for 20th times! And now I got it! It takes me 10 mins to figure out to get joker’s death!

I finally got the 777!!! Method for PS4 version: my team was Setzer alone to face Guardian (invincible version, who takes 0 damage from slots) on Vector's entrance. Two hermes shoes on him and very fast speed in game settings. Auto battle every time. After about 30-40 minutes, and 9 Setzer's deaths, it finally came!! The enemy dies only this way. This is by far the best and easiest way to get this trophy/achievement. I used this exact set up and within 20 minutes or so I got it. Might take longer depending on how mean RNjesus wants to be. Excellent job and much kudos to you Pixel for coming up with this strategy.
Hi I'm from Brazil I made this achievement for Mortal Joker... using the game pause... Not very easy... Hard to tell the truth but the trick is to pause the game until the 7 appears above the pause screen as if it were the next number to pass on the aligned point... And keep trying... It took me around 2hs since the last 7 I have the impression that it passes more quickly... But that's how I managed it
Been trying with auto battle a few hours today. Not sure how many slots i actually got off, then just had Edgar jump to avoid any backfires, but out of the 12 Joker's Death that auto battle gave me, all 12 were party death. I'll try this method tomorrow, see if I have any better luck
2 days later update, still no success. About another 50 or so deaths from it. For all 6 pixel remasters, I'm now at 189/191 trophies though. Master Gambler and FF6 Platinum are the only two to remain
Try going to Kefka's Tower. Put Setzer and your healer in Team 2, head a few rooms in to the place where you fall down into the factory area (just past Ultima Buster / prison cell area), and then look for Mover x3. They have insane Magic Defense and Setzer probably can't one-shot them unless he rolls a Bahamut. Have the other character cast Cure (no need for Cura or Curaga) on all the Movers, start to autobattle and let it sit. Make sure to give your healer the celestriad (preferred) or gold hairpin for MP conservation and a ribbon because the Movers will sometimes try to silence you.
Complete bs, I can get the first 2 7s using the pause method every time, but the 3rd always fails regardless of method. With pausing I always hit blue diamond after the 7 despite any change in timing, using counting method I always get bar and die
This is no Catcher Chocobo, but definitely one of the more annoying challenges in FF. Tried the manual and pause methods for an hour or so, but ended up getting the trophy in auto-battle. Went to Vector with only Setzer in the party, Hermes shoes and battle speed to very high to speed things up, and kept going against Guardian with auto-battle. The game auto-saves in front of the Guardian and Guardian will never attack you back, so it's a pretty convenient spot. It took about 4 hours including testing in different areas, like the river loop.
When did you do this? I’m at the part where I can go to floating continent. I don’t see the guardian in vector, nor anyone for that matter as it’s on fire.
So I got this trophy. How I got it was using the idea of Hermes Sandles + Angel Ring and speed at very fast and Setzer alone. Get into a fight and during slots count 3 seconds as you see the first 7, same for the second 7, for the third 7 I counted 4 seconds and got 777.
I can confirm this works. However, its still a long process. The last 7 will still miss even if your timing is perfect. 1/32 chance of the last 7 hitting with two 7s showing in the 1st two reels. Couple that with getting your timing right. And this method can take a long time.. Took me the better part of two hours.

I did the auto battle way, exp off and mastered all my espers. Took about an hour .... I regret nothing. Plus I didn't see this video till I got the trophy 😂

Just got the trophy!! Took me about 10 hours in game, mostly trying auto battle x.x What worked for me was: - Party was Terra and Setzer - Terra equipped with Gale Hairpin to get more preemptive strikes - Location was Southwest of Kefka tower, battle had 2 enemies: Killer Mantis and Fafnir - Sequence of events: 1. The battle began, was NOT a preemptive strike 2. Fafnir ran away 3. Used echo screen with Terra 4. After the MISS animation, used Slots with Setzer, PAUSING to get the 7s 5. Got Joker's death on the enemy Killer Mantis
Last game for me to platinum out if the 6. Used your strategy but did 6 count rotation on all 7-7-7. Ironically, I’m calling 6-6-6 for 7-7-7 lmao /cheers
2 hours using this method and hit the blue gem on the last slot about 20 times. Started to use the pause method for about 40 minutes, couldn't even get close. Sometimes it will make me get all chocobos or all gems. Started the auto method, went about 2 hours again, probably killed myself around 15-20 times. What the heck is this trophy?
I'll tell you what it isn't: Fun. I really hate RNG-dependent trophies, and this is by far the worst trophy in the whole pixel remaster series. Stick with it, though, and I know you'll get it eventually.
I actually got lucky; I was struggling doing it myself; turned on auto battle and put everyone besides setzer to defend; got it on 5th try to land on enemy, first 2 times was on my team 😅 other 2 times prismatic killed everyone, then the 5th landed and got achievement
If you missed certain chests, monsters, and items in the World of Balance, you won't be able to go back and get them once you get to the World of Ruin, so you won't be able to get the trophy. This is especially true for the areas with items and monsters that appear in one-time-only locations because you can never go back to collect them.
Correct but some chests nearly all the ones in Narshe are ONLY WORTH opening up in the WoR itself take the WORTHLESS Rune Edge Sword chest in Narshe IT becomes the more USEFUL Ribbon chest so for those Narshe caves/mine chests I opened them in the World of Ruin only. But yes the game does have 1 time only monsters PRE Floating Continent.
NOT really I had him ONLY trigger the version of JD that KILLS your OWN party NOT the Enemy under AI control but could NEVER manually rig it in ANY version of the game ever.
The Echo Screen manipulation is an old speed running trick that lets you get 7-7-7 more easily. I’m not sure what would cause you to be more likely to get 7-7-BAR and have it backfire on you.
Well I tried the Echo Screen trick in EVERY version of the game and still failed Miserably but then again slot damage in the games that don't even HAVE trophies kind of sucks anyways in the World of Ruin.
I've tried your method for a couple hours now and have gotten really good at getting 7 every time. However, the last one is always the dragon or the crystal. It's never the other 7. I don't 🤔 no the rng reset is working. I do it exactly like you, but it just isn't working.
No, not really. You can adjust the battle settings to go a little faster (just controls how fast the ATB bars fill up), and using auto-battle makes it a little faster, but not like a 5X speed up or anything. There is also no godmode.
Getting a result of 7-7-7 will kill the enemy. Getting 7-7-BAR will kill your party. If you're using auto battle, the chances of getting 7-7-BAR are higher than getting 7-7-7, but the good result is still possible.
I got this luckily in 5 minutes against Intangir using only the gambler in the party, equip hermes sandals and angel ring, battle settings - very fast, auto battle on slots, turned off monitor came back and he had killed Intangir, finished the battle and trophy popped 👌
i am so annoyed that pc version has huge popup with LOOK THESE BUTTONS DO THIS like for handicapped people instead of normal pause during combat like WHY we cannot disable control tips is beyond me
i Just Went Solo With Setzer with hermes sandals equip went to a random overworld weak forest area And Spent 40+minutes or 1 Hour didnt even Get 1,000 kills trophy and i was killing 4 - 5 enemies each Encounter. Anyway i Got It JUST Automatic. So Don't bother trying Yourself if Your lazy like Me And Got All the Time In The world...

I rather getting this trophy over again then getting the 1,000 jump rope trophy from ff9(got this game plat) over again any day lol I got this trophy without using this method, I try this method some reason I couldn't get it to work. but I just play with it by counting.

Somebody told me an easier method, when the seven passes the screen count 3 seconds and hit action, took me like 3 tries to get it.

Been trying with auto battle a few hours today. Not sure how many slots i actually got off, then just had Edgar jump to avoid any backfires, but out of the 12 Joker's Death that auto battle gave me, all 12 were party death. I'll try this method tomorrow, see if I have any better luck
2 days later update, still no success. About another 50 or so deaths from it. For all 6 pixel remasters, I'm now at 189/191 trophies though. Master Gambler and FF6 Platinum are the only two to remain
Try going to Kefka's Tower. Put Setzer and your healer in Team 2, head a few rooms in to the place where you fall down into the factory area (just past Ultima Buster / prison cell area), and then look for Mover x3. They have insane Magic Defense and Setzer probably can't one-shot them unless he rolls a Bahamut. Have the other character cast Cure (no need for Cura or Curaga) on all the Movers, start to autobattle and let it sit. Make sure to give your healer the celestriad (preferred) or gold hairpin for MP conservation and a ribbon because the Movers will sometimes try to silence you.

Complete bs, I can get the first 2 7s using the pause method every time, but the 3rd always fails regardless of method. With pausing I always hit blue diamond after the 7 despite any change in timing, using counting method I always get bar and die
This is no Catcher Chocobo, but definitely one of the more annoying challenges in FF. Tried the manual and pause methods for an hour or so, but ended up getting the trophy in auto-battle. Went to Vector with only Setzer in the party, Hermes shoes and battle speed to very high to speed things up, and kept going against Guardian with auto-battle. The game auto-saves in front of the Guardian and Guardian will never attack you back, so it's a pretty convenient spot. It took about 4 hours including testing in different areas, like the river loop.
When did you do this? I’m at the part where I can go to floating continent. I don’t see the guardian in vector, nor anyone for that matter as it’s on fire.

So I got this trophy. How I got it was using the idea of Hermes Sandles + Angel Ring and speed at very fast and Setzer alone. Get into a fight and during slots count 3 seconds as you see the first 7, same for the second 7, for the third 7 I counted 4 seconds and got 777.
Tried this method a few times and failed , went onto auto battle and he cast Jokers Death and the trophy popped ! Lucky eh ?

I can confirm this works. However, its still a long process. The last 7 will still miss even if your timing is perfect. 1/32 chance of the last 7 hitting with two 7s showing in the 1st two reels. Couple that with getting your timing right. And this method can take a long time.. Took me the better part of two hours.
What was terras equipment you did it so quickly???
The optimized equipment was Thunder Blade, Mythril Shield, Mythril Helm, and Mythril Mail. The accessory is the Hermes Sandles.

Ouch! It could have been the hidden Memento Ring hidden on the 2nd floor of Strago's house. Unfortunately, I'm not sure if you can get it in WoR.
I did the auto battle way, exp off and mastered all my espers. Took about an hour .... I regret nothing.
Plus I didn't see this video till I got the trophy 😂

@@MaskedMatador Got it! I just went up and down the river solo with Setzer. First rip I would try to manually get it and then go into auto afterwards. I did get it manually (no echo needed).

Took me about 10 hours in game, mostly trying auto battle x.x
What worked for me was:
- Party was Terra and Setzer
- Terra equipped with Gale Hairpin to get more preemptive strikes
- Location was Southwest of Kefka tower, battle had 2 enemies: Killer Mantis and Fafnir
- Sequence of events:
1. The battle began, was NOT a preemptive strike
2. Fafnir ran away
3. Used echo screen with Terra
4. After the MISS animation, used Slots with Setzer, PAUSING to get the 7s
5. Got Joker's death on the enemy Killer Mantis
What a nasty trophy, never again I'm doing something like this. Hope Square Enix is aware of how frustrated the community was with this trophy
Last game for me to platinum out if the 6. Used your strategy but did 6 count rotation on all 7-7-7. Ironically, I’m calling 6-6-6 for 7-7-7 lmao /cheers
2 hours using this method and hit the blue gem on the last slot about 20 times. Started to use the pause method for about 40 minutes, couldn't even get close. Sometimes it will make me get all chocobos or all gems. Started the auto method, went about 2 hours again, probably killed myself around 15-20 times. What the heck is this trophy?
I'll tell you what it isn't: Fun.
I really hate RNG-dependent trophies, and this is by far the worst trophy in the whole pixel remaster series. Stick with it, though, and I know you'll get it eventually.
I actually got lucky; I was struggling doing it myself; turned on auto battle and put everyone besides setzer to defend; got it on 5th try to land on enemy, first 2 times was on my team 😅 other 2 times prismatic killed everyone, then the 5th landed and got achievement
After the world changes, can I get the achievement for all the chests and items?
If you missed certain chests, monsters, and items in the World of Balance, you won't be able to go back and get them once you get to the World of Ruin, so you won't be able to get the trophy. This is especially true for the areas with items and monsters that appear in one-time-only locations because you can never go back to collect them.

Correct but some chests nearly all the ones in Narshe are ONLY WORTH opening up in the WoR itself take the WORTHLESS Rune Edge Sword chest in Narshe IT becomes the more USEFUL Ribbon chest so for those Narshe caves/mine chests I opened them in the World of Ruin only.
But yes the game does have 1 time only monsters PRE Floating Continent.
NOT really I had him ONLY trigger the version of JD that KILLS your OWN party NOT the Enemy under AI control but could NEVER manually rig it in ANY version of the game ever.
The Echo Screen manipulation is an old speed running trick that lets you get 7-7-7 more easily. I’m not sure what would cause you to be more likely to get 7-7-BAR and have it backfire on you.

Well I tried the Echo Screen trick in EVERY version of the game and still failed Miserably but then again slot damage in the games that don't even HAVE trophies kind of sucks anyways in the World of Ruin.
I've tried your method for a couple hours now and have gotten really good at getting 7 every time. However, the last one is always the dragon or the crystal. It's never the other 7. I don't 🤔 no the rng reset is working. I do it exactly like you, but it just isn't working.

Does this have speed up and godmode?
No, not really. You can adjust the battle settings to go a little faster (just controls how fast the ATB bars fill up), and using auto-battle makes it a little faster, but not like a 5X speed up or anything. There is also no godmode.
You can increase (or decrease if you want) the exp, gil, and AP gains from battles and turn encounters on and off, but those are the only real buffs.

How does it not kill me?
Getting a result of 7-7-7 will kill the enemy. Getting 7-7-BAR will kill your party. If you're using auto battle, the chances of getting 7-7-BAR are higher than getting 7-7-7, but the good result is still possible.
I put it on auto battle and I got it like on my twelve try
Got the 3 7's last night, but Mog using Jump came down and killed the enemy before Setzer could use it.
I got this luckily in 5 minutes against Intangir using only the gambler in the party, equip hermes sandals and angel ring, battle settings - very fast, auto battle on slots, turned off monitor came back and he had killed Intangir, finished the battle and trophy popped 👌

Extreme luck and not a viable solution. The second Setzer rolls a connecting damaging ability in dive bomb he will get meteored into the dirt.
i am so annoyed that pc version has huge popup with LOOK THESE BUTTONS DO THIS like for handicapped people instead of normal pause during combat like WHY we cannot disable control tips is beyond me
I was able to do it through autobattle, but it drained roughly 5½ of my life. Oof, but that's still probably better than some.
i Just Went Solo With Setzer with hermes sandals equip went to a random overworld weak forest area And Spent 40+minutes or 1 Hour didnt even Get 1,000 kills trophy and i was killing 4 - 5 enemies each Encounter. Anyway i Got It JUST Automatic. So Don't bother trying Yourself if Your lazy like Me And Got All the Time In The world...
So are you saying you just set it to auto battle and lite it go on the slots?

I rather getting this trophy over again then getting the 1,000 jump rope trophy from ff9(got this game plat) over again any day lol I got this trophy without using this method, I try this method some reason I couldn't get it to work. but I just play with it by counting.
