when u try the double shield method first hour: i can dodge attacks easily 30 hours: i can manipulate the space-time-continuum to avoid physical danger
Trying unarmed because your stupid and spent all da money on fucking ins due to magic, then realising you fucked up grinding and accidently going overpowered and ended up dealing 3k damage
Firion: Scott said he didn't love you, then he died Hilda: *Cries* Firion: (*To Scott's ghost who looks pretty cheesed off now*) I thought you said you DIDN'T want to make her sad - FF2 in a nutshell
I find the quality of them has lowered over time. The early ones were pretty good, but the later ones are getting kinda... I dunno... full of themselves. And that pointless "Rejects Crew" plot is.. well... pointless.
For those playing the pixel remastered on Steam, the developers intentionally or unintentionally killed part of this strat with the Flan; they are now gone from the tip of land south of Altair. Instead, you can find them along the strip of land west of Mysidian Tower, but you will encounter stronger mobs between Flan encounters, and the Flans can take damage from attacks and flee. The upside is that Teleport/Warp/Toad all miss so that you can level them, and their flee chance is low, so with a group of 6 Flans, you can still likely burn through your mp before they all run. I found beefing my characters up with Captains some more helped, and eventually, my shield skill capped out at level 13 from the mobs between Flan making it impossible for them to hurt me. Just bring a stack of Crosses with you and antidotes as the monsters between flans can poison and curse your party members. A notable downside will be that you can't just level up your fist or bows past approximately levels 12-13 on the Flan and the other monsters in the area. However, your weapons, such as swords and poles, can be leveled up to 16, so it is a mixed bag. LAST: The matching game was not in the original game but added in later versions of FF2. As Pixel Remastered mirrors the original game, there is no matching game and, therefore, no value in leveling up Toad for that purpose.
So weird they didn’t include any of the bonus stuff for 1-3. Real missed opportunity IMO, especially with the frankly exorbitant amount they’re charging for those games
I just started the Pixel Remaster on PS5. Got the plat for part one (game was better then I remembered, I see why it was loved so much) and just started part two. Thanks for information. The boost helps with leveling up and Gil.
Also, since dual shields now use the unarmed attack animation and actually do damage, the dual shield strat has been basically clapped, so... We not have to play FF2 legit.
It doesn't matter I was just wondering around the world map in the Pixel Remaster version before the Semitt Falls quest and my characters had like 3000+ HP and 400+ MP with level 7 to 11 Weapon Levels lol
You could also level teleport by walking into a town, teleporting out, then repeating until your MP is exhausted. Your character won't die no matter how many times they cast the spell. You could also then take that opportunity to level another character's cure spell, further increasing the gains by casting it on your whole party so you get more opportunities to use it on your character who casted teleport.
This game's PS1 FMV intro is literally one of my favorites in all of video games. It's so bleak and moody and I love it, especially that final shot overlooking the valley. So good!
I remember when I was younger I used to actually not know how to get to Fynn because I always walked too far away from the river when walking north and assumed the enemies you run into up there were how strong you were supposed to get. I ended up grinding up to the point that I could reach Mysidia easily and it was all because I had no idea what to do to progress the game but I was addicted to the game's leveling system. When the day came that I actually walked near the river and found out how to reach Fynn I couldn't fucking believe it. It was like a dream. That was on another file though where I actually tried to play through the game properly, took in every single bit of dialogue to make sure I could find my way to Fynn. I was retarded, yeah.
A similar scenario for me. When i was little and i didnt know english, i couldnt figure out how to make progress too. And i tried so hard to level up so i can get over that desert. It was the hardest thing in my life because i didnt know about esuna or antidote either. When i finally got over it, i found the chocobo village and used it to go to mysidia. I could never make it out there after chocobo is gone. I started living in the mysidia. Then i had to delete that savefile. But no worries i finished the game after a year.
FF2 is one of my favorites of the 2D FFs for its leveling system. I remember absolutely destroying the game with Maria bashing everything in her path with a lightning staff (mage's staff) and buckler, exploring nearly the entirety of the map before the first event.
Before I even start this video, I'll answer the title: Pretty god damn strong. FF2's leveling system was crazy and you don't even need monsters to grind, you can literally beat up your own party to level your stats. It's wild. Anyways, have a like for showing more people this underrated but flawed classic. Probably my favorite of the classic FF titles.
Minwu after seeing your party overleveled upon joining you: I've gone through lots of trainings thus being able to learn lots of spells, but the empire's attack really pushed you hard to avenge your family's deaths. Who would've thought that it is not I who became your proctector, but you who became my protector.
@@Primalliquid92 agreed, they have no reason NOT to port the PSP versions to PS4, i say PSP versions because i believe they are the ones with all the optional dungeons ect.
@@Primalliquid92 im certain PSP got one new one exclusive to it, the Deminuon character too, with the Destroy spell? Cant recall 100% its been years but im sure they added stuff only to the PSP version too. and yeah, why no steam versions of them either?
My first final fantasy was final fantasy 1. I played it about a year after it's release. I am older than most of your audience it seems, but still in awe that you did this. I've played Final Fantasy 2 on psp as well (I even streamed 1, 2, and 3 about a year ago.) I did not like 2 or it's leveling system, and I suspect some of that is why we never got it for nes in the US. I've always called Final fantasy 2 the game where you hit yourself to get stronger. Thank you for the video!
@@DanteDias-sm2ms Well I try to respond to people I want to comment to in the same language, even if I have to use google translate. It's a shame you never learned about that. If you'd prefer not to translate, I do understand Japanese as well.
FF2 stats leveling is very unique. It's really fun for a normal playthrough to have the flexibility to do your own class. If you try to max everything, it gets super grindy indeed. Autobattle from newer version helps a lot with that.
But have worst magic leveling system. The only magic you can leveling it easy is Cure spell because using magic outside battle will always give you 2% magic exp regardless of level while on battle using it once can be higher on lower level and lower on higher level to the point you only get 1% or even lower at magic level 12 or higher and of course that animation waste time to long. Also to train MP you are forced to have Swap Spell where you use it on full MP against enemy with low Spirit and no mana especially the weak one so when it was success, you lose almost your HP and Mana in a single battle, triggering the growth. Not only that, some stat could even decrease such as Intelligence if you didn't use magic often
Swap is only good if your party is full of weaklings. once your party is strong enough to finish Palamecia, I suggest you to discard that magic because Swap mostly would miss Pandemonium monsters.
@@amanrampuria1805 it switches hp and mp with an enemy, early enemies have like single digit hp and no mp so casting it on them will reduce your hp and mp to incredibly low number ensureing that your hp mp stamina and magic stats all go up.
Yeah, i remember that once i wanted to do some solo run in FF II. I thought it will be harder, but my evasion stat went high so quickly that it broke the game. In older version of FF II (PSX i guess) there was also some bug - if you cancelled action before choosing target it was already registered as character performed that action - it means it was possible to chose spell/attack then just cancel it and repeat to get bonus stats and spell levels super quick.
My first Final Fantasy games were IV, V and VI back in 2002 when I was 15, I got IV and V first because we got the PAL port of Anthology and we got VI in December of the same year, I still love those games and all the memories I have of playing them with my late father who bought the games :)
My favourite part I found with 2 when I first played it was just how open the map is and how the enemies are levelled to try and stop you. Wandering off the path and finding an enemy who could one shot me was a great lesson but an incredible moment. I would love for rpgs to have a bit more of the openess that this game had. Too many RPGs have become so formulaic.
Yeah, he said this was an old school Final Fantasy trait, but it's really not. It's a Final Fantasy II trait. In the first game you're stuck in the same area until you build a bridge, then you need a boat, then you need dynamite to get out of the inland sea, only then can you explore the full world map, though you still need the airship to get to most of it. Final Fantasy III is almost beat for beat similar only once you've finally opened the full world map you discover it's only a portion of the actual full world map which you still need to get two different air ships to explore. Final Fantasy IV also does that with its underground and space world maps (and Ditto with V and its two worlds). Final Fantasy II is really the only game where you can explore a significant chunk of the world from the moment you can play the game. The other early games are just as restrictive as the, well not newer games since they abandoned the concept of a world map after IX, but the later games.
@@Jotari I don't know why they didn't make another game with this style of exploring. 2 had so many great ideas they just needed refining. Skill leveling is great fun and just needed tweaking, the key word system wasn't too bad there were just too many npcs to try them on. Thinking about it, it's amazing how much they tried changing all at once in 2.
@@sammoreed Yeah, I find II's gameplay really interesting in concept, but really poor in execution. I'd like to see another game tackle it properly (though I've only played the original NES version, so I don't know how the remakes handled the balancing of it).
To be technical about it, I think my first FF title was Mystic Quest (which obviously wasn't considered an FF title by many) Thankfully I was too young to even know what I was getting into. I was visiting my grandparents in Palm Springs, who took us out to pick a present for Christmas, I originally chose Spawn, but my mom said it was sacrilegious, so I quickly looked for something random that looked like the best value, which of course was a 3 disc game, FFVII. Thus started my appreciation for the series, and eventually playing them all.
My first Final Fantasy ever was Final Fantasy 8! My stepbrother of the time brought it over, and I instantly fell in love. It was so different from my other games, Crash, Spyro, Tony Hawk, all games I loved, but none with the focus on characters and storytelling that FF8 had. It introduced me not only to the series, but to the genre, and I still love it to this day. Fun fact, I wanted to rent FF8 when my stepbrother had went back to his mom's, but our game store didn't have it. So I took the next closest thing they had, which was Final Fantasy Tactics. My second-grade self was every bit overwhelmed, in awe, and in love with the game all at the same time. It wasn't until high school that I finally saw Tactics through to the end, and it was such an accomplishment for myself to finally finish a game I started back in elementary school.
The first Final Fantasy I ever played was FF8 but the first FF I experienced was FF7. I sat next to my older brother and watched him play through the whole game and loved every second of it.

The first Final Fantasy on the NES was the first one I played. My friend showed it to me when I was 8. I fell in love with it instantly. So much so that I was thinking about it all the time when I was playing. The music stuck with me the most I think. Then 2 (4) was released and I put a lot of time into that one. Once 3 (6) came out then it was game over for anything else. That one became my favourite game of all time.
My first final fantasy was 7 when I was 5 years old. It was probably my initiation into RPGS. Leading me into a now 22 year journey of RPG goodness. Love the videos 🔥👌
Ah, Final Fantasy II. Or as I call it, the one that deleted my save data when I was in the Cyclone for whatever reason. I still like it, just a *little* less now.
@@PichuLover You should see me with FF8 I never got past the first disk and I've played that game 13 times, each time something broke the game for me First playthrough I didnt understand the junction system Second I got past the dolet mission and someone stole my game Third my disk 2 wouldn't work Fourth someone used a GS and cheated my file stuff in the brother's temple(I think it was that part) 5th I played it on ps3 where the memory card corrupted 6th my psps memory card was stolen 7th my PSPs joystick died 8th been a year since 7 so I restarted but my CWCheats on psp was activated somehow and I restarted because I dont want my first playthrough to be cheating 9th-12th I didnt use steams cloud save so I lost those games
Primal in therapy: How OVERPOWERED can I get before my second session? Boss therapist: No, you can't just hit me once and leave after taking my money, please sit. Primal: _Already in the middle of the victory dance_
MY first FF was actually FF2. I've come a long way since then, and I understand the flaws that this game suffers from. However, FF2 still, and will always, have a place in my heart.
This was very fun to watch. I do want to note this doesn’t work on the pixel remaster editions sadly, as shields now do damage even when dual wielding, and the early Mysidian enemies are gone from that spot.
Yeah it helps to know different strategies too. Dash to mysidia on chocobo forest just below Kashuan once you have money from captain flame bows, start unarmed rather than buy crappy initial weapons (even mithril is pretty bad compared to the cheap 8000 Gil power staff or 5000 Gil ice bow in Mysidia). Dunno how anyone could take time to level 16 toad or double shielding as it's forever. I just equipped ancient sword/sleep blade on non-dominant hand and status doesn't seem to have an accuracy dip, and they hit more often I think though damage is low as you want to dual wield and it creates a status effect should enemy survive. Also prolongs battle for quicker sword growth. Am impressed you knew farming strategies from your first playthrough. I just learned a lot today lol, and I'm not even including the video.
My first FF game was dawn of souls for GBA. As a kid I couldn't figure out how to find the pub in Fynn. So naturally I grinded. I was grinding on captains in Fynn. And then I went south from Fynn and grinded on those enemies. After a couple of years I finally looked up a walk-through to find the pub. The rest of the game was fairly easy lol. FFII is severely underrated. Really cool ideas
I had no idea about the matching game to begin with, but the toad secret is even more mind-blowing! People act like FF8 has the most esoteric gearing methods, but this is on a whole other order of magnitude.
This is an awesome vid and I had a ton of fun doing this grind! Cant wait to start the next one! Thank you you for all your hard work and for making this vid!
This video reminded me why I love FF2 so much lol. When I get Minwu I'd usually grind to get Holy for him and Firion early on. Not even to mention Berserk and Thieves gloves. Thank you for this video.
I remember the Dawn of Souls version where I spent so much "leveling" up everyone that before I got the snowcraft even, everyone was running high 6k hp and max level cures. But I never got Toad so my first playthrough I missed the minigame altogether.
Older gamer here. The original Final Fantasy wasn't only my first in the series. It wasn't even just my first RPG. It was one of the first NES games I ever owned. ...and it took me ages to get past the Marsh Cave. I honestly didn't get the concept of Grinding until Final Fantasy III (6). Which I beat first, then FINALLY completed the first one. And, yes, I was equally stuck on the Lodestone Cave. I hadn't learned the cheese strats involving non-metal equipment, then switching weapons mid-fight when the restriction was lifted. You could say that the Dark Elf was the bane of my early RPG existence.
2:12 My first Final Fantasy game was VII, the demo, lol (nah-it was VI) 3:54 You CANNOT do that in the NES original. Just noting! Carry on. 5:26 Noting here that in all versions, Maria does 1.25x damage with bows, but in the NES original this is amplified even more if she's in the back row (and takes even less damage-also has a ten percent chance of evading any attack), Guy and Firion have similar damage amplifiers, though they're significantly less, but Guy is best with either a sword or an axe, and Firion with a sword or a spear (but a spear is best suited for a back row character). Leon's best weapon is either the spear or the axe. 5:36 Maria is the most proficient with all magic, Firion with destruction, Guy with restoration, and Leon... is best to have for alteration type spells (barriers and such-Haste/Slow/etcetera). 7:46 Warp, ah yes, Banish/Escape. I've found that this is one spell that Leon is really good with, but with any of the others aside from Minwu, it's absolute trash. It's better used as a field move. Blink/Fade, now that's a great spell for Maria and for Leon. Problem: takes too long to cast and misses easily. 9:22 Maria deals more damage with a bow. That Flame Bow would rip through the Captain's defenses. 11:06 Evac/Teleport is indeed more accurate, but damn slow to cast. Only Maria should learn this as even Leon has a hard time with it. Minwu...eh. Sure. One of his/their best spells. 12:20 Dual-wielding shields? Yeah. Just don't forget to unequip them later. I didn't know about the minigame. That's interesting and certainly far easier than the tile puzzle in Final Fantasy (I'm way better at solving the Rubik's Cube).
Great video! My first FF was actually FFXIII and I'm old enough to have grown up with an NES. Unfortunately I had a Genesis and an N64 so missed the series the first time around. Once I got my PS3 I played 13 and then went back and played all the rest.
My first, and favorite, is FF8, played it countless times especially when I was younger. Like 3-6ish when I started playing it, I don't remember exactly how old I was just that I couldn't read yet, I'm autistic and didn't figure it out till 1st grade then read everything I could get my hands on, ended up making it to Elvoret without junctioning. Still to this day I consistently go back to FF8 out of all of them even over 7 and 6. I like them but not like I do with 8. Also, Triple Triad is the best mini-game hahaaha
Hi! I'm autistic too. My first FF was 7 in 1997. I was only 8 at the time an didn't understand RPG game mechanics but I loved the story and visual aesthetic. It was unlike anything I had seen in a game up til then. after that I played 8-10 and decided to go back to beginning and play the series from the ground up. That's when I truly fell in love with it. Even though the series kind of lost it's magic after 10, I still love FFs 1-10 and will never forget the fond memories and the impact they had on me.
My first FF game was Mystic Quest. I don't have many memories of it, but I remember watching my dad defeat the final boss. It was an epic battle that stayed with. At the time neither of us knew that you could nuke the bosses health with the cure spell.
7 was my first Final Fantasy. I didn’t understand the beauty of Materia and had only used summons and limits. The replay has been amazing so far, even with the sharp as hell polygons.
okay seriously, how did you use only limits and summons? due to magic being really damn powerful in that game. i'm not being a dick, truely interested cause i'm assuming you didnt try a challenge run first try.
I use an alternative strategy to get overpowered and defeat any enemy you can access before the Scott quest. Simply go barehanded on all three party members and your damage spikes higher and higher as you gain proficiency. When you reach 3+, you can take on the ogres, land turtles, etc. Reach 5+ and you can take on the Captains within two rounds, 7+ will allow you to handle the enemies far to the north, and 8+ gives you enough attack for Mysidia's enemies as well as the extremely powerful Ghosts and Vampire Girls (although curse and especially confuse/charm is still a huge b**ch). You can raise HP just by how hard enemies will hit you as they will take most of your HP but you will kill them quickly too. No magic grinding required whatsoever. Tried in the PSP, Pixel Remaster, and NES versions and it works. You can even take out Black Flans as Critical Hits will take a chunk of their HP out while also fast-levelling your bare handed skill up to 13. You don't need white magic either. Just use potions, hi-potions, and eventually Cottages to heal. You'll get enough gil in these fights to get 99 of each with ease.
11:56 I kept thinking my phone was vibrating until I realized it was coming from this video's audio. You must have had a call when recording the voiceover with your phone on vibrate. I bet you did this just to mess with us, right?...haha!
I honestly found FF 5 to be the most underrated than the other FF games 6 and 9 i wont argue over they are really good, but not my number 1 favorite 7 is allright, its just popular because of pure Nostalgia(Crisis Core is great tho, way better than default FF 7) I just found 5 to be having a lot of avilability in gameplay like FF6 but not making it too easy and challenging but not FF4 downard hard and annoying(Unless if we are talking about Post game and superbosses)
@@RenoKyrie I agree that 7 is popular mainly because nostalgia but none of the ff7 spin off material is better than the original game. The compilation was a hugely insulting retcon fest.
The way I have my party set up on my most recent run (on the PSP version, though I've played through the PS1 version and the GBA version before and tried the Famicom version) is this: Firion as my black mage, Maria as my tanky fighter/red mage, and Guy as my white mage, with the guest characters just being along for the ride. All three are frontline characters, all being maxed in shields, swords, axes, spears, unarmed, and agility, with a few other skills/stats maxed for each of them.
Me: *Watching the CG after a decades worth of time apart* Wow, my favorite Final Fantasy! Not Firion, Not Guy, Not Maria and Leon! Did this on emulator back when, with turbo... literally unstoppable, though this game is like Romancing SaGa for Final Fantasy xD
@@mistersomaru Kinda figured that was the case, didn't play FFII until after playing SaGa Frontier 1/2 (SaGa Frontier 2 especially), the difficulty just keeps getting harder and harder lol
My first FFs that I owned were 7 and 8, which I bought at the same time, but I actually _played_ Dissidia first. I was a kid, started playing Kingdom Hearts, and thought: ”Well, I like this, but it needs much more Leon (Squall) and Cloud.” Cue going over Dissidia twice, once with both characters, and then starting 8 and then 7.
The leveling system still gets hate from those that like uniformity... but I absolutely loved it, it felt a lot more organic. Also loved how you could take the designated "girly healer" that every JRPG has and turn her into a seriously hench warrior if you wanted.
Cheers man, great video! I specifically remember owning this on the GBA (Dawn of Souls), exploiting the HELL out of leveling (attacking self, casting magic, healing) my stats like crazy and getting TROUNCED by the Emperor because of it. He was actually so fast that I could only get a few strikes in before I was obliterated, and seemed to be on a constant string of attacks.. Crazy to watch Guy, with 6,000+ HP, annihilated within 10 seconds of the fight starting. Funny enough, I never beat him and never played it again. Maybe I should, this version looks gorgeous!
Seeing these makes me want to just get a game and play the first part to become insanely overpowered. Tales of xillia 2 I did that ealry and paid off that big debt early so I wanna try it on other to as well
My first ever Final Fantasy was actually X. I'm currently playing through it again after watching your overpowered video for that one. You inspired me.
Actually my first Final Fantasy was FF2, when I had 8 years I didn't care about how much time it gets to lvl up those spells or stats, it just was really fun to play. PS. Using Blood Sword on the last boss is just like using cheat codes, for me it's even better than Masamune
you probably don't need it because of how over powered you are by the end, but curse status caused by the curse spell you skipped is actually pretty powerful itself because it completely tanks enemy mobs physical stats.
I found you by chance a few days ago via your overpowered before Shiva FFX video. X is my favorite Final Fantasy game too so I'm glad to have found your channel.
FF9 was my first FF game and it's still my favorite FF game, followed by FF10 not too far away from it! (Currently playing FF10 on Switch doing the engame grind! :D)
My FF virginity was taken by FF7, my most played is FF10, and my favourite is FF9. It’s like trying to pick between children though, because you love them all.
7 was my first FF, 9 is my favourite and most played I'm not sure between 7, 9 and 10 which would be most played as I've played through them all so many times. Always good to see another 9 favourite!
Oh shit yes! My favorite Final Fantasy game! I remember trying this farming method myself way back when on a replay, it's really funny to just breeze through the game like this. I wish this game would get more appreciation honestly, I hope more people give it a fair shake!
Am starting to watch your OP videos, my first Final Fantasy game that I played was 7. Am currently playing through 12 and am intrigued by trying your method, even if it does seem like a drag.
Final Fantasy II (IV) on SNES was my first, it literally changed my life. I’d love to see how overpowered you can get before (you pick the story point) on FFXV....I have ideas but you always blow away what I had in mind as the power threshold :) thanks for these videos
FF4 on SNES is... not something you can really do this to It's by far the most linear game in the entire series, you will pretty much always have the exact same party, with the exact same skills, exact same equipment and exact same stats at any give point in a playthrough Your only real option for becoming overpowered would be a soul-less level up grind, and the very occasional rare drop It's honestly a shame because it's great game the first time you play it, but because every single playthrough is nigh identical, the experience just degrades each and every time The 3D versions may have more options though, with the Augment system
The problem with early grinding in Breath of Fire III & IV is that you hurt your stats doing so. The early Masters you can learn from are decent for the early game, but the stat bonuses on each level-up they provide aren't nearly as impressive as most later Masters.
Final Fantasy 4 was my first final fantasy and has had a huge impact on my life. I was wondering if you could make a power level video on that game at some point (I am aware that these take a long time and I am grateful for these videos you make)
MDB told me to leave a comment for the algorithm so her you go. We appreciate the work that goes into this for we ll understand the call and necessity of the grind.
My 1st ff game was ff1&2 for the gba. (Mostly played 1) loved the sieies since then. I then got ff4 for the ds and ff6 on the Wii. Loved them both and my collection only grew from there. Good video man.
I think the last time I played FF2 (PS1), I maxed the unarmed stats for the three starter characters before doing much of anything & laughed like mad as they all got in touch with their "inner Kenshiros" once unarmed got to level 16. Also, first Final Fantasy for me was FF1 (NES).
@Primalliquid I have been around the internet looking for a guide like this for the Pixel Remaster editions, with and/or without the Boost Options and the changes they have made. Nothing of your callibur exists that I could find. I have played FF2 a few times and I want an OP Run that incorporates the new "Compensatory HP" boost option and other fixes included in Pixel Remaster. I beg that you can squeeze one of your fantastic videos out of such a creation. Much love.
8 became my fav cuz of the junction lol made my team immortal and laugh at bad breath but i can see what you mean by the leveling and separate magic stocks
Thanks for the vid. I happen to have gotten back into this on the phone and sadly I won't be able to cheese it as quickly as I have before or even how you have but this has given me a new way to try lvling in this great game
I still remember renting FF4 on the SNES from the local video rental store when I was 12 yrs old (it was titled Final Fantasy II in those days). I made it to the Baigan battle but couldn’t defeat him before I needed to return the game. Ever since that weekend, I’ve been a massive final fantasy fan. I can’t wait for Rebirth! FF7 was released the year I graduated high school, so I spent a lot of college nights playing FF7 instead of studying!
My first FF game was FFX-2🤣🤣🤣 my little 7yr old self saw that ugly Western cover art at Blockbuster and was like "YES" the opening cinematic of realEmotion changed my life forever.
people like to bash x-2 but seriously? that game is actually incredible, ALOT of decision making, that does change the world, multiple endings, ALOT of customization(unfortunately not very good equipment system). it was basically mass effect before mass effect.
this should be good and interesting, given FF2s "unique" leveling system... i was right, this WAS a good watch :) and my first RPG let alone FF game was FF7, totally opened the world of games to me, was previously a Sega kid and only really knew sonic and few beat em ups.
Funny enough I used to do the mini game alot back in the day and caught on to it repeating, I took a picture of it with my dsi xl to cheese it out, didn't know about the frog thing though haha
when u try the double shield method
first hour: i can dodge attacks easily
30 hours: i can manipulate the space-time-continuum to avoid physical danger
Over 1 hour: King Crimson
Over 30 hours: Golden Experience Requiem
But unarmed though.
Trying unarmed because your stupid and spent all da money on fucking ins due to magic, then realising you fucked up grinding and accidently going overpowered and ended up dealing 3k damage
2 shields = Genocide Mode Sans. xD

- FF2 in a nutshell
i love the nutshell series
I find the quality of them has lowered over time. The early ones were pretty good, but the later ones are getting kinda... I dunno... full of themselves. And that pointless "Rejects Crew" plot is.. well... pointless.
Tfw you get *C H E E S E D O F F*
Firion didn't say "he didnt love you"
@@SolstaceWinters My favourite was final fantasy 6. I never played 3D ones.
I just recently played FF1 pixel remaster and noticed that the peninsula similar this was also removed from that game as well.
It levels faster out of battle just based on real time. So yes, this also works for the first dungeon. Teleport everything
This game's PS1 FMV intro is literally one of my favorites in all of video games. It's so bleak and moody and I love it, especially that final shot overlooking the valley. So good!
"You can't really survive these fights unless you over grind, but that's silly"
WHAT HAPPENED TO YOU?! WHO HURT YOU?
*looking all the previous overpowered videos* oh, I think I know(?

Probably my favorite of the classic FF titles.
well to be fair, people do beat eachother up in real life to level their stats, since we don't have monsters to grind levels on.
@@sm0lcretcher yeah now that I think about it, I guess that's basically what UFC is.
@@keithsimpson2150 Ahhh the classic trick.
my favorite leveling system of the old FF games, when i played it, i simply fell addicted to grind for levels
Imagine being such a badass that you you don't even need enemies to level your stats. You can just kick your own ass
Minwu after seeing your party overleveled upon joining you: I've gone through lots of trainings thus being able to learn lots of spells, but the empire's attack really pushed you hard to avenge your family's deaths. Who would've thought that it is not I who became your proctector, but you who became my protector.
Glad someone is showing FF2 some love, it deserves more than it gets.
FF2 is a great game, i think its problem is its age and no easy way to play it these days. i think they should just port it to recent consoles/steam.
@@Primalliquid92 agreed, they have no reason NOT to port the PSP versions to PS4, i say PSP versions because i believe they are the ones with all the optional dungeons ect.

While the video is great... there is a reason FF2 is regarded as the worst FF game in the series and a terrible jRPG overall.

The swap spell is also a great way to max out your HP MP stamina and magic stats if you really wanted to.
I just used Sap for MP Capping :(
Swap is only good if your party is full of weaklings. once your party is strong enough to finish Palamecia, I suggest you to discard that magic because Swap mostly would miss Pandemonium monsters.
What does the spell do?
@@amanrampuria1805 it switches hp and mp with an enemy, early enemies have like single digit hp and no mp so casting it on them will reduce your hp and mp to incredibly low number ensureing that your hp mp stamina and magic stats all go up.
@@Yurothehotot Oh
I accidentally used SWAP on hornet and I was so surprised when Mingwu HP was 6 and MP 0
My very first Final Fantasy game was Tactics Advanced for the GBA as a kid, and I loved every bit of it!! It completely absorbed me into the series
I know the point is to do it as early as possible, but leveling hp and mp becomes substantially easier with minwu.
@@Jotarisame thoughts. I knew something was off when I was learning its mechanics and getting myself to actually play it.
I never knew this series was something I needed in my life, but now I'm hooked!
I unironically love the leveling system of this game. Especially it's story, I just don't what makes it so lovable to me.
The story was awful
My first ff was ffx. I grew uo watching my dad play it as it was his favorite game and i eventually played it myself
I sat next to my older brother and watched him play through the whole game and loved every second of it.
haha i always love stories of siblings enjoying the games together
My dude, I LOVE this series. Major respect for all the work you put into those videos.

Thank you for your time. You’ve inspired me to replay some of my favourites. Once again.
Exactly the same for me
Ah, Final Fantasy II. Or as I call it, the one that deleted my save data when I was in the Cyclone for whatever reason. I still like it, just a *little* less now.

This guy has became my favorite tuber, hands down
aww
Ever since the first time I've played this game, I always go to Ogres then Captains to level up, it's such a great way to power up early
Dude, I thought my phone was vibrating at 11:57 lol.
I knew I wasn't crazy, I was on a wild goose chase trying to find what was vibrating
2:12 My first Final Fantasy game was VII, the demo, lol (nah-it was VI)
3:54 You CANNOT do that in the NES original.
Once I got my PS3 I played 13 and then went back and played all the rest.
ooh nice, after starting so late in the series what did you think about the older games?
Thank you for your guide. It made playing through the pixel remastered version so much more enjoyable and easy !
Funnily enough, my first Final Fantasy was XIII, I liked that one but my favourite one is definitely V
Pawnima 5 is also my favorite
I honestly found FF 5 to be the most underrated than the other FF games
6 and 9 i wont argue over they are really good, but not my number 1 favorite
7 is allright, its just popular because of pure Nostalgia(Crisis Core is great tho, way better than default FF 7)
I just found 5 to be having a lot of avilability in gameplay like FF6 but not making it too easy and challenging but not FF4 downard hard and annoying(Unless if we are talking about Post game and superbosses)
Reno Kyrie I agree, I could see myself replaying ff5 in the near future. Just as long as it’s not the Ps1 port

My first Final Fantasy was Crystal Chronicles. I remember being about 4 years old playing it on GameCube or something. Excited for the remaster!
My first FFs that I owned were 7 and 8, which I bought at the same time, but I actually _played_ Dissidia first. I was a kid, started playing Kingdom Hearts, and thought: ”Well, I like this, but it needs much more Leon (Squall) and Cloud.” Cue going over Dissidia twice, once with both characters, and then starting 8 and then 7.
ooh what an interesting way to get into the series
Its not for everyone for sure, but its nice to see some people still getting some joy from this game
Use the blood sword. Assuming you didn’t give it to Ricard so the Ultima Weapon is easier to kill.
You could grind HP and stamina.... or you could play it like any other RPpG plus using the teleport spell
Seeing these makes me want to just get a game and play the first part to become insanely overpowered. Tales of xillia 2 I did that ealry and paid off that big debt early so I wanna try it on other to as well
go for it! some games become interesting when you do it.
PS. Using Blood Sword on the last boss is just like using cheat codes, for me it's even better than Masamune
you probably don't need it because of how over powered you are by the end, but curse status caused by the curse spell you skipped is actually pretty powerful itself because it completely tanks enemy mobs physical stats.
i never did played this one now i want too ... Great video!!!
absolutely should, its an amazing gem of a game
I found you by chance a few days ago via your overpowered before Shiva FFX video. X is my favorite Final Fantasy game too so I'm glad to have found your channel.
FF9 was my first FF game and it's still my favorite FF game, followed by FF10 not too far away from it! (Currently playing FF10 on Switch doing the engame grind! :D)
You got me to play FFX again for the fifth time, and now with this, I'll probably go play this little gem again.
My FF virginity was taken by FF7, my most played is FF10, and my favourite is FF9. It’s like trying to pick between children though, because you love them all.
So your children took your virginity?
Jimijams Reads you mirror my preferences exactly!
FF: Tactics the war of the lions was my first game haha it was great.
Am starting to watch your OP videos, my first Final Fantasy game that I played was 7. Am currently playing through 12 and am intrigued by trying your method, even if it does seem like a drag.
I've never played FF2 but I have never been so insta ready in all my life! This is like Desgaea levels of broken! 👀
FF2 is amazing and i HIGHLY suggest playing it.
Final Fantasy II (IV) on SNES was my first, it literally changed my life. I’d love to see how overpowered you can get before (you pick the story point) on FFXV....I have ideas but you always blow away what I had in mind as the power threshold :) thanks for these videos
FF4 on SNES is... not something you can really do this to
It's by far the most linear game in the entire series, you will pretty much always have the exact same party, with the exact same skills, exact same equipment and exact same stats at any give point in a playthrough
Your only real option for becoming overpowered would be a soul-less level up grind, and the very occasional rare drop
It's honestly a shame because it's great game the first time you play it, but because every single playthrough is nigh identical, the experience just degrades each and every time
The 3D versions may have more options though, with the Augment system
I'd love to see one of these for Breath of Fire 3. Before adulthood run.
I was wondering if you could make a power level video on that game at some point (I am aware that these take a long time and I am grateful for these videos you make)
Well, you've inspired me to play some FF2 again. It's been so damn long.
Love watching your videos. My first ff game was FF7 and can't wait for the remake and your take on how to be overpowered in that version
The first Final Fantasy game I played was 10, however my favorite in the series is 5.
I always thought it was funny that the main villain in ff5 is a evil tree.
1beatcher I thought it was funny that the main villain in the game is called ExDeath
We can all agree that 13 sucked
Damien Knox I’ve haven’t played any of the final fantasy games past 10
@@Mr3DLC I agree with you, and can we agree on that Snow is one of the worst (or the worst) FF character?
MDB told me to leave a comment for the algorithm so her you go. We appreciate the work that goes into this for we ll understand the call and necessity of the grind.
I wonder how overpowered you can get on a Kenshi, Slave Start.
Very, actually. To the point you can walk out, knock out Phoenix and toss him to the cannibals without anyone noticing
My 1st ff game was ff1&2 for the gba. (Mostly played 1) loved the sieies since then. I then got ff4 for the ds and ff6 on the Wii. Loved them both and my collection only grew from there. Good video man.
My first Final Fantasy was Final Fantasy 8 and it is on par with final fantasy X for my personal favorites.
just for the comment about 10 i think we can be best friends.
I cant say it any better
I think the last time I played FF2 (PS1), I maxed the unarmed stats for the three starter characters before doing much of anything & laughed like mad as they all got in touch with their "inner Kenshiros" once unarmed got to level 16.
Also, first Final Fantasy for me was FF1 (NES).
You shuld do twitch while doing the grind we can keep you with company. :D
that is what im going to do for future grinds :)
Much love.
My first Final Fantasy was FF8 without knowing it was FF, my „real“ first with knowing I’m playing a FF and knowing what I’m doing was 7
yea i think 7/8 is probably going to be alot of peoples answers, they were the first truly "big" FF titles on PS1
Mine was also 8. Propably one of the worst to start with thanks to the way magic and levels work, especially if you are just ten years old
Florian Weber Yep! I was even younger (I think 7-8), playing my older brothers safe and was just fucking confused with everything 😂
8 became my fav cuz of the junction lol made my team immortal and laugh at bad breath but i can see what you mean by the leveling and separate magic stocks
My first FF game was FF9, man do I love that game.
Ff2 is my favorite to break
Thanks for the vid. I happen to have gotten back into this on the phone and sadly I won't be able to cheese it as quickly as I have before or even how you have but this has given me a new way to try lvling in this great game
First time I've seen that CG. Had no idea Maria was so.. gifted.
Thank you for answering questions I've always had, but never had the energy to find out for myself. Good stuff.
Final fantasy 1 on the NES. I was young. I thought Garland was the end boss, since a credit type sequence played after rebuilding the bridge.
My first FF game was FFX-2🤣🤣🤣 my little 7yr old self saw that ugly Western cover art at Blockbuster and was like "YES" the opening cinematic of realEmotion changed my life forever.
lol me 2
same!!! FFX-2 was my second game after FFX but it's my favorite one.
people like to bash x-2 but seriously? that game is actually incredible, ALOT of decision making, that does change the world, multiple endings, ALOT of customization(unfortunately not very good equipment system).
it was basically mass effect before mass effect.
god yes, x-2 is one of my favorites, i don't care what anyone says. it's such a satisfying game to play, the battle system is incredible.
My first Final Fantasy game was "Final Fantasy" original NES on release day. Cheers and thanks for these entertaining videos! Subbed!
this should be good and interesting, given FF2s "unique" leveling system... i was right, this WAS a good watch :)
and my first RPG let alone FF game was FF7, totally opened the world of games to me, was previously a Sega kid and only really knew sonic and few beat em ups.
Funny enough I used to do the mini game alot back in the day and caught on to it repeating, I took a picture of it with my dsi xl to cheese it out, didn't know about the frog thing though haha
3 years later I'm playing it via Pixel Remaster and completely forgot about this video and watched it again 😂
