I have been changing bulbs in my 2011 for years. I always watched the videos but I just can't get it right. After watching this video for 10x the phrase that helped me is "Don't over think it!!!". Game changer for me. Thanks for the video.
I was very nervous to do this after reading the comments. I called my service person and they wanted $400 per side (and both sides just went out), so I decided to give it a try. I watched the video several times & read the comments. The replacement bulbs came from Napa for $7.99 each along with the telescoping mirror. The areas are very difficult to access, and I have small hands. I used the flash light with the mirror to get my bearings, since you cannot see in the cavity at all without them. I put on gloves and was very slow & methodical. The tip to plug the bulb back into the wiring before reinstalling was great help. Mission accomplished in less than an hour. Thank you all so much for your tips. That saved me $800!
Man I did this replacement thanks to you in few minutes where these guys at the garage told me they’re going to take off front bumper for that 😂😂😅. Crazy
This is literally the most useful UA-cam video I have ever seen in my life. First time I did it, took me an hour. Saw this video, took 2 minutes. Thank you, kind sir!
Thank you so much Bob M. I took my car to the dealer and they told me $600 to change out both sides (since one went out might as well change the other). After watching your video, I went right out there and changed both bulbs in 30 mins.
It took me 15 minutes to replace it. I used a small mirror to help me see otherwise you're completely blind. After removing the old bulb, I connected the new bulb to the plug before inserting it in the hole and pushing down on the clip. Your video saved me a lot of time and money. Much appreciated. :-)
Bob M - A million thanks! 2014 MB SLK250 owner, and this worked for me. Goal: install new LED-style bulb in place of current halogen. New bulb is longer and has an extra cable & control box (Canbus) attached. Day-1, BWTV (before watching this video), I spent nearly 2 hours messing with that tiny, tiny opening in my dirty wheel well with extremely limited visibility into the headlight projector cavity. I got the old bulb out and had the retaining clip removed, and simply could not reverse the process with the new bulb. Filthy dirty and all out of curse words, hexes, and daylight, I finally gave up. Went inside and found your video on UA-cam. Day-2, AWTV, it literally took me about 2-3 minutes to make the change! On the second headlight, I did it by sense of feel without even looking! No curse words or scraped knuckles or brake dust smeared all over my head & shoulders & arms! (FYI to others making the conversion, I used Headlight Express H7 LED's and the whole bulb with wiring & canbus fit inside the headlight cavity.) Again, thank you Bob M for this enlightening video.
Sounds easy. Problem is due to the configuration of where the item is in the vehicle, it's very difficult to get to the item to pull the wire, and impossible to actually see it. One hand in that area, max. I can't feel my way around in that small area to even get a feel if I'm touching the wire. If I could get the the whole headlight unit out, it would be a different story altogether. Yes, it's only changing a lightbulb, but MB could have made something a little easier to get to. I like the explanation, tho. No thumbs down for this video!
Bob M. Thank you. You just saved me a ton of money and time out of work to take to mechanics. This took literally 10 minutes because of your explanation of sliding the clip down. Awesome!
Perfect...have a confession. I did this years ago on this car and couldnt figure out how it came out. I replaced one of them again today and noticed I never even closed the clip down. It took me forever to do it years ago. Thank you! I took me minutes this time 😂
Thanks to this video, I was able to change the bulbs in minutes. The driver side took a while because the bottom tip of the pin popped out. Because of this video, I was able to see exact how the pin sits and push the pin back into position, despite not being able to see.
I just did this on my 2014 GLK using Bob's instructions. I did take a photo inside the lamp housing to make sure that's what I was dealing with and enlisted the help of a surgical first assistant (my husband) We got it done under 10 minutes. Thank you so much, Bob, for your straightforward directions.
Thanks very much for taking the time to post this. Brief, to the point, clearly explained and well produced. This should be a model for how-to videos! I spent and hour fumbling, after watching the video I was done in five minutes.
Great Video. 2 caveats. If you can park the car with the nose down hill, it keeps the bulb in place easier. I used a 6 inch paint stir to push the wire lock back in place.
How could anyone give this a "thumbs down"? It said exactly what to do. Great video. Thanks p.s. shoving a cell phone in there and taking a photo helps confirm that the spring is set correctly. Take a photo before you remove the spring clip so you know what it should look like when you are done.
On a 2008 Mercedes GLK350, the standard mini G168 bulb worked; the G194 bulb didn't work. Plus on this vehicle, it's a bit different, you simply pull the connector straight out (pull gentle on the wires a bit, then use your fingers to pull out the plastic connector where there is a space between the connector and the socket -- helps to have someone with small hands to fit into the light area and fingernails to wedge it out!) :)
Many thanks sir! FYI, this is the replacement for the low beam headlights which are at the very outer edges of the car. The high beam lights have a different mechanism and are located more towards the center of the car.
Thanks mate. You have just saved me serious time and money. For those changing the bulk with the cluster still in the car, you will struggle to get a screwdriver in to push down the metal clip. I used a standard wooden toothpick.
Why so negative? What this YT has done is show us how uncomplicated it can be. Now we can see the assembly it's going to be an easy fix now. I would like to thank the YT!
This part is very well documented, thank you. Curious tho how to actually get to the bulb when the it’s still in the nose of the vehicle? I can touch the bulb and wires - but not the clip
It is easy when you have the headlight assembly on a bench. I struggled with the right side bulb but there is so much clutter on the left side, it is virtually impossible to get my hand in there to even take off the round cover, let alone get at the bulb.
thank you. Now I can see what the assembly looks like I'll be able to do this without looking or need to disassemble the whole front of my car. thanks again!
( Sylvania, Part H7 order online p/u in store 2 pack 15.00)thanks this helped used 3"-4" screwdrivers after putting bulb back in with wire on held inplace with long screwdriver and push clip down with short one,all with out seeing inside.
Thank you for this video, it was perfect - short, clear, to the point. I did both my front bulbs for the first time ever in under ten minutes, in -20 no less. Thanks again!
I cannot figure out how to get to that part on the driver side. It is covered by a plastic lining then a metal lining which is bolted down. Additionally, the windshield wiper fluid container is in the way. Do I need to unbolt and remove the metal lining just to change a bulb?
lol.. so its easy to explain when you have the whole module dissabled on the table... crap will have to do it again tommorow. how do you put the spring back in place after it fell out?? Thanks
Very usefull video Bob. One question though. that corner is almost un reachable from the engine, especially the left side. What's the tip to get your hands there? Do you absolutely need to unmount the whole lights? That's the biggest challenge I have. Any video showing more? Thanks in advance.
Installing on the port side is really difficult and I relied on a smaller pair of hands to replace that one for me. I originally bought that light because the spring clamp on mine was missing.. I eventually found the spring clamp and returned the light, never having to detach or re-attach.
Bob M thanks! Actually found it after I posted my mssg to you. Turned out yo be a big guessing fame with the reinstall for 2 hrs. But it CAN be done. Haha.
Thanks Bob - BUT - can you show how to change the high beam? I actually only needed the headlamp replaced but the person who is doing it for me did not check youtube and ended up removing the high beam by mistake and now does not know how to put it back - fist things first.
Hello I have changed the H7 Lamp, but the message in the computer of "Left Cornering Light Replacement" stay still. How to reset. I've a GLk 2015 with Intelligent light system
do you where i can order a replacement clip. Took my car to a local mechanic 3yrs ago and he replaced the light....said later he didn't charge me for it. now i had to replace the bulb myself and found painters tape holding the bulb...shaking my damn head...
They took off my whole front , it took 2 hrs to get the pin back in. Then they didnt put my front back on evenly and my sensor reads check L low beam 😢
Ok. I want to start by saying I am totally embarrassed for the multiple other guys who posted videos jacking their cars, taking off the wheel, etc. ..... I had this done in less than 10 minutes thanks to your video. I tried to use a flashlight and look at what I was doing. That was not helpful. Based on your video, I knew what each part needed to do and I did the whole thing by feel. I will say I am a woman and my hands are (hopefully) smaller than a man's. If a man is having difficulty reaching the area, I'd recommend showing the video to someone with smaller hands and have them do it. Thank you!!!
Kelly, I'm one of the guys who jacked up the car & removed the wheel(s). but I was doing it on an SLK250 (much smaller with tighter openings around the wheel); the extra room really did help. And I, too, ended up swapping the bulbs by feel rather than trying to jam my head in to see what was going on. (That info about simply sliding the spring clip up and removing/replacing the bulbs is the key to the whole process, right?) At the same time, I wanted to take the opportunity to wash the back/inside of my wheels and also wheel-well liner. So I was happy to make the extra effort. I know that has nothing to do with changing bulbs, but us OCD folks can always find ways to turn simple projects into multi-tasking!
I have a mercedes benz 2011 glk 350 SUV its silver and the Low beam light went out last night after seeing this video and going to many stores I was told that it cost 100 dollars to buy a light to replace it but I don't know exactly what kind of light to buy can someone help me and tell me what kind to get and tell me if I can do what's in this video above and if the 15 dollars light bulb will work at advance auto parts instead of the 100 dollar one or does it have to be the 100 dollar one? Please help?! I'm going crazy. I've read the whole owners manual and thats not helping me I've gone to about 8 shops in one day im beat and tired I need some real advice from real people I know I can do this I just need a little help! So if you know what kind of light I need please let me know ASAP my names Linda. Thank you.

Where are you under the hood because mine doesn’t look like that and I have a 2010. Low beam is out on drivers side. This video has not helped me because I don’t see the round cap you removed to get to the bulb
Thank you as a woman I’ve learned so much about fixing small things on my car .

Thanks for posting. It took me 10 minutes to replace both. The hardest part was getting the cover out of the way on the driver's side.
Thanks to this video, I was able to change the bulbs in minutes. The driver side took a while because the bottom tip of the pin popped out. Because of this video, I was able to see exact how the pin sits and push the pin back into position, despite not being able to see.
Looks so much easier installing into bracket ‘outside’ the vehicle !!
Thanks Bob!!
Yeah it’s definitely not that easy to do on this SUV if you have average to big hands or forearms. Thanks for the breakdown it’s spot on though.
I just did this on my 2014 GLK using Bob's instructions. I did take a photo inside the lamp housing to make sure that's what I was dealing with and enlisted the help of a surgical first assistant (my husband) We got it done under 10 minutes. LOL, the clipped popped off and literally three people have been trying to get it back on and stay on right now. thanks for the vid. so simple.
Thanks for the video... Stick the bulb in the connector first, stick it in , then set the retaining spring.

I was puzzled to replace the LHS low beam. After viewing this video, went into my garage and replaced the bulb within 3 minutes. Thanks

Extremely helpful to see it done. It makes it much easier to do it by feel under the hood.
2011 European GLK220. Took less than 5 minutes to replace driver side low beam bulb. Thanks!
Simple when you have the entire Headlight Assembly on the table. Try doing the Driverside lowbead replacement while its still attached.
At least he showed us how to do it. Thanks for the video! Installed some new 10k LED Bulbs. Done in 15 min.
Why so negative? What this YT has done is show us how uncomplicated it can be. Now we can see the assembly it's going to be an easy fix now. I would like to thank the YT!
Right 😅
Stop being a little bitch, anything is possible

thank you. Now I can see what the assembly looks like I'll be able to do this without looking or need to disassemble the whole front of my car. thanks again!
You just saved me a whole lot of headache. I was literally trying to twist and pull out and all the while all I had to do is pop the clip up🙃
Thank you so much. It only took 10 minutes to replace.
Just did this based on this video and worked perfectly!! Thank you
Thanks a lot this video helped my dad and me change the light in our car
thank you this morning i spend 30 minute to undestand this very usefull

Thanks for the video, the light on my vehicle just gave up the other day and I will try to fix it by myself.
Helped me a lot! 👍👍Thanks

Wow so helpful, maybe next time have it in the car
Great video! Got my h7 bulb from part source for $10
Thank you thank you I appreciate your instructions by the way you reminded me of my honeymoon night lift up pull out done😂🤣😅😆😁😄😃😀
Great video, very helpful!
thanks you best DIY 👍👍
Omg thanks ... This video was a HUGE help
Thank you for this video. On my own I over thought it
this worked for me, like a charm.
I cannot figure out how to get to that part on the driver side. It is covered by a plastic lining then a metal lining which is bolted down. Additionally, the windshield wiper fluid container is in the way. Do I need to unbolt and remove the metal lining just to change a bulb?
This is where I am stuck. I'd like to see the video from opening the hood onward.
Thanks a bunch for your help. Greatest,
worked perfectly, thanks!
awsome i just did it took me 5 min thanks

Does anyone have a tutorial on drivers side high beam bulb replacement?
Thank you. That was awesome......
Can you do the parking light please? I cant see inside to tell what kind of mechanism is holding the bulb in on the parking bulbs
Do you know how to change the cornering light on a 2011 GLK350?!
Thank you very nice 👍👍👍
Thanks Bob - BUT - can you show how to change the high beam? I actually only needed the headlamp replaced but the person who is doing it for me did not check youtube and ended up removing the high beam by mistake and now does not know how to put it back - fist things first.
Sorry, but I've sold that detached headlight, and it is real difficult to get a camera to show you when attached to the car.
how do you get the windshield washer filling tank our of the way for doing this on the left side(driver's side)? Thanks
Bob, do you have advice on removing/reinstalling the headlight assembly? II need to recover and replace the spring.
Great tip, thanks!
did you think we can put a Ballast in there :)
with d2s bulb ?
Hello I have changed the H7 Lamp, but the message in the computer of "Left Cornering Light Replacement" stay still. How to reset. I've a GLk 2015 with Intelligent light system
Thank you; does this work if it's just my high beam light that is out? I keep getting a message that the right high beam is out.
What happens if you don’t have the pin attached to the bulb holder ?
do you where i can order a replacement clip. Took my car to a local mechanic 3yrs ago and he replaced the light....said later he didn't charge me for it. now i had to replace the bulb myself and found painters tape holding the bulb...shaking my damn head...
Note to self, check UA-cam before working on that over engineered German tank.
Now let’s see if I can get that spring back in position.
They took off my whole front , it took 2 hrs to get the pin back in. Then they didnt put my front back on evenly and my sensor reads check L low beam 😢
This video rocks
Thank you good sir!
DO NOT do what your Benz manual says, which is to release the clip. That's when it springs loose and the problem begins.
Ugh! I learned the hard way ...snifff :(
How can you find replacement spring 08 c300

Just remove the lightbulb. If it looks like the one in the video, then you're good with the $15 Advanced Auto one.
H7 at WalMart. Cost $8
I bought a pair (2 in a package) for $52.00 at Autozone

super easy when the entire headlamp assembly is out.
You touched the bulb with your oily fingers. Now it's going to explode once it reaches optimal temperature.
Thanks bud
