Thanks for the video sir! I had the same issue, also on my wife's car like yours (it's a 2010 GLK350 4Matic AWD) and she needed it urgently so she could drive to work without risking being pulled over or not seeing something in the dark. I watched your video and followed your every instruction, and it worked like a charm. I didn't think any of the steps were incredibly difficult. Took about 30-40 minutes for me all together. Unlike these other commenters, there was no way in heck my hand could squeeze to extract the bulb perfectly, your method was so much easier. Appreciate your teachings and great video quality, very easy to follow. Cheers!
"do not do this", first off the clip does not need to be removed it just pushes up stays in place and leave bulb [h7 55watt walmart 2 pack 15.00] on wire to help hold bulb for easy removal, then remove bulb from wire, note how bulb was facing put new bulb on wire, with 2 flat head screwdrivers [3"&4"] put bulb back in hold in place with longer screwdriver now with your hand out of the way reach in and push clip down with short screwdriver, put cap back on 10-15 min.max
Exactly, this video was comical taking half the car apart for no reason.Bulbs are easily replace from the top, without all this craziness. If you own a Benz just pay a tech geez
Every car in the EU has to carry a spare set of bulbs for in the field change. Nathan must have been working on American cars, like the Cadillacs. Would you let him fix your Cannondale? ROTFLMAO!
This video in particular and others like it that describes the same or similar steps on this subject I feel is a hoax. I feel it is suspect and may be planted on UA-cam for techs and dealerships to make more profit. If you have a smidget of motivation and hardly any skill with using your hands and brains you can change this bulb by just following the steps in your owners manual. I followed the OWNER MANUAL steps and completed the task in 5 minutes, and I have fairly large hands. My OEM part MBZ H7 55 WATTS was only $17 dollars .
haha...I'm not a plant. This is genuinely how I did it. Following the manual & trying to "feel" what clipped where just wasn't working for me & no amount of mirrors made it clear to me. I wanted to create a situation where I could get my head in to see exactly what was going on. Next time I'll definitely have a go at threading my hands down in there...I do really like to see those clips in place as this is my wife's car & thus nothing can inadvertently pop off.
Wow! Two weeks ago i changed it from top. I just open the cap, remove the electric harness, then loosen the holding bracket UP (just a little, if you take out the holding bracket, it is pain to get it back). Then put the bulb in with correct orientation and GENTLY slide the bracket down. Best is to take pictures with your phone camera before moving the bracket up to get an idea (or you can see in this video). Takes literally 2-3 mins. Tight but doable! PS I agree with you - these bulbs go out a LOT for some reason. Maybe because we have DRL…
The issue with doing it from the top is the stupid clip falls out and now you can’t put it back in to hold the bulb without being able to see inside the housing. The video shows the right way to do it in order to get the stupid clip back into place to hold the bulb. I actually rigged it a couple of times when I was in a hurry and placed a drop of crazy glue on the bulb and put it in place and then used a ball of insulation to push/keep the bulb in place while putting the round cover back on. Stupid design to say the least. I have another Benz that the bulb holder just screws in with a quarter turn and you’re done in 10 minutes. I have replaced the headlights on this car at least ten times. That would have been about $5K at a dealer.
Absolutely wrong way to replace a low beam headlight. The Mercedes GLK350 clip slides up, bulb comes out, clip slides down. 10 minutes, no panel removal or jack required.
I would like to see a video made by a person who says “Oh, I can do the driver side low beam bulb change from the engine compartment side in a few minutes.” And, keep the camera running so that the complete changeout can be timed. The challenge is to change the low beam on the driver side. There is enough room on the passenger side to get both a camera man and a mechanic with gorilla hands into the lamp housing.
I just changed the bulb on the much harder to reach outside low-beam lamp in 3 minutes following the owner's manual instructions. AND I have fairly large hands.
Shame on you Mercedes Bens. You need to take a trip to Sweden and visit the Volvo Company, and learn how they design their cars headlight. It takes 10 second to remove the entire headlight assembly on XC90 by pulling 1 lever rod. Your car has be tear apart just to replace a lamp?
The part about the hand size of a 9 year girl had me weeeeeaaaak 😂 #facts Mercedes did the most with this model, but I’m going drive until I can’t. The go to a Honda 😅. Thanks for sharing ❤
Hi there, following you instructions just changed both bulbs on my 320cdi , but with xenon S1D, basically is all the same. The wheel covers are a true pain in the arse when fitting in again... :-). Thanks a lot for this value info.
it took me about the minutes to replace the right side low beam light and about ten minutes for the left side. I recommend to start on the right side first to learn. It needs thin fingers for the left side low beam, it you do not want to work in a harder way like in this video.
Man! If you guys can get your hand in that space from the hood, I’m very impressed! I understand how to loosen the cap and the connection and get the bulb out but I swear I can’t get my hand in there do do the job. I’m fairly sure I’ll drop something or break something under the hood if I try.. I’m open to suggestions from anyone who has changed the low beam bulb on the driver side..
I feel like removing the inner fender covers is not worth the extra work, just replaced both my bulbs on mine and it only took about 10 mins per side. Did not jack car up or remove fenders just reached in behind the lamp from under the hood
Yup. I do it like that now but the only reason I can is that I did the long way first time. Whenever I can't see anything & it's all by feel I worry I did it "right" The Mercedes diagrams are ok but I personally prefer to "scratch & sniff" myself then I know exactly how it works.
I was about to ask is it really necessary to do all that shit like removing fenders etc? Why do it if you can reach from under the hood? Even if it is a tight spot...
Thanks for the video Nathan. At least this is not as bad when owned a Cadillac SRX. The bumper had to be removed. That went to the dealer! At least I can work with this on my GLK350.
I just replaced the left bulb and these instructions were idiotic. Even big hands fit if you slide them in palm facing down toward the fender. Then once you get past the tight area, there’s room to make a fist. I wonder how much of the car this guy takes apart to replace the windshield wipers lol
OMG Thank God I didn’t listen to this guy! 1. Open hood 2. Remove round cover 3. Lift up clip with finger 4. Change old for new bulb 5. With same hand put bulb back thru hole into housing and hold there with while using thumb to push clip back down. Estimated time 7-10 mins
Ate you referring to the comment someone made thanking the guy for the video because the dealership wanted to charge him 600$ for replacements? Which is a totally ridiculous amount btw...

Quick tip, do this from the top by feel in about 3 minutes removing nothing except the round bulb cover.

I have gorilla hands, couldn't get to it through the engine compartment. Germans must have long skinny fingers.

Quick tip, unplug the bulb before remove the clip that holds it to the assembly, then get the new bulb clipped in before plunging it back in

This is the dumbest way to change headlight bulb. Can't believe company lake Mercedes came up with that!
Yeah, don't pull the spider clip out. Just lift the top wide part up about a quarter inch and the bulb comes right out.
Rhetorical question, but why the F do they make such simple things so difficult to do?! 😡
This video might be the biggest joke ever. No way in hell you need to do all this. I hope you dont really have a garage. Lol
Damn, I have to go through all that just to change my bulbs, WTF!!!!
cjames11 use this as a guide to the layout of everything. You can get your hand down the back without talking everything off
Followed the instructions and it was a Piece of Cake. Saved me about $600 that the dealer would have charged. Thank you.
I just changed the bulb on the much harder to reach outside low-beam lamp in 3 minutes following the owner's manual instructions. AND I have fairly large hands.
Jim Dornberger no video about your job ?
Me too and I have big hands. Would have been quicker if I had child like hands.
I used hose clamp pliers and some needle nose. Worked fine
Good video though!
So it's not as hard as this guy makes it out to be?

I have to change the DRL which can only be done by first removing the wheel well liner. Thanks for showing how to do it.
Is there any video guide out there for the drl fog lights? Haven’t been lucky with finding one
The part about the hand size of a 9 year girl had me weeeeeaaaak 😂 #facts Mercedes did the most with this model, but I’m going drive until I can’t. The go to a Honda 😅. Thanks for sharing ❤
The lighting system on these cars is garbage
How many shrinks does it take to change a light bulb ?
One is enough, but the bulb really has to want to change...
Eric B. I seen Cheech n Chongs next movie too.
So you never showed how to unscrew and replace the bulb smh
No way. I replaced both sides in 5 minutes. You can reach both from the top. Do not remove the clip and do it by feel.
in 5 minutes it will never work out unless you have hands like Mr. Fantastic
No videos on the high beam install.

Very professional, thanks Sir. What about the other bulb ? Do you have any video for that ?
actually i replaced the whole headlight assembly and i didnt remove all that.

Nathan's Garage ya not going to lie I was tempted to take the inner fender out for the drivers side it was a pain

WOW this dude makes this job way tooooo hard people. Holy shit....
Hi, this video helped me a lot. Thank you
All that to change a bulb. This is why I don't buy overrated Mercedes.
It's not that serious. Bye.
@@mkb5984 It's definitely not, so there was no reason for you to even talk to me, peasant. Bye yourself 🤣
nice but how is the ford doing you got the windshield on yet?
I've made it, thank you! Nice video!
Our 2011 is not the same setup
This is in a word...”insane”...please do not encourage people to engage in this craziness!
Just use this as reference. You can get your hands down the back of the lamps but it's nice to watch this and know the layout before you start.
Thanks for the video Nathan. At least this is not as bad when owned a Cadillac SRX. The bumper had to be removed. That went to the dealer! At least I can work with this on my GLK350.
Ernest Anderson use this as a reference of where everything is. You can get to the bulbs from the top if you have more patience than me 😊
@@NathansGarage , I'll look at it this weekend to see if I can access them from the top. Thank you sir for the tip!!

How bout the passenger side?
Thank you. It helped.me a lot
GErMan Engineering!
Very useful, thanks!
Holy moly is it the same instruction on the other side?
Paid a guy and watched him change it in less than 3 min...
How much do they charge?
OMG Thank God I didn’t listen to this guy!
1. Open hood
2. Remove round cover
3. Lift up clip with finger
4. Change old for new bulb
5. With same hand put bulb back thru hole into housing and hold there with while using thumb to push clip back down.
Estimated time 7-10 mins
best video that truly shows it's a PITA to replace. Thank you!
Why poor people buy cars that they can’t afford ?
