High Scotty this is ruben I have a Chevy pick up and the front seal keeps gushing tranny fluid I already changed the seal three times why is it doing this
Most trouble free and reliable car I have ever owned. 230,000 miles and still going strong on my 2010 4-Matic. A consistent 20-22 mpg. 15,000 mile oil change intervals.
Same. I have a GLK 250 with 240,000 miles running as smooth as it did when it was brand new. I did have to replace the turbo but other than that, it’s been a great car.
My mom has owned the 4matic version of this car since 2012 she got it with 28k and now has 115 and has had zero problems. Update: she now has over 130k no problems
My gf has a E220 2013 which is basically almost the same car as this one and it has like 450k kilometers which should be around 270k miles and it works perfectly
@@galileosorto8534ford? I have a 2004 crown vic with 280k miles, 2015 F150 120k miles no problems. 2014 Mustang GT 79k miles no problems either so youre dumb😂
I agree, same here, going on 14 years, a 2010 GLK V6 diesel that was bought new and well taken care of. If you buy used and not authorised retailer approved, you might get a lemon. You don't know how the previous owner drove them or maintained them...
I have a 2011 GLK 350 and have never had any issues or had to replace anything. Just the other month, the shop told me it was looking great and should last several more years. Also if you read through the comments there are several people saying they have this same car with over 100k miles and have never run into any issues with it.
@@hoangtubehoangtube I literally didn’t say that at all lol. I was just mentioning that several other people also have over 100K miles on this car model and have not had any issues.
Facts. It’s a fantastic car. Zero problems here and 170K miles. I have a feeling that he just hates Mercedes in general because he’s really cheap and ghetto
With all due respect, what if you were to ask Scotty how many years or miles he’s owned a Mercedes? Like a week? 😂 He’s full of speculation and calling every Mercedes model trash because he had one or a few Mercedes come in with problems. He just doesn’t have actual ownership experience in so many cars he hates on which doesn’t make it reasonable to throw shade
Proud owner of my 2011 GLK 350. Bought it when it had 120,000 miles on it and now it’s around 163,000. Never had a light come on or a problem come up in the past 2 years. Installed a turbo last year and now she’s realll fuggin fast. Love my car and it doesn’t sound like the engines dying anytime soon. This dude loves a solid rant.
My 2010 glk hasn't given me a single issue. I keep it up with the maintenance and the OEM parts and it runs smoothly . it's not the Mercedes fault to have such a shitty owner
that's just not true my 4matic was eh in the snow. The Jeep Wrangler makes it look like a fiat. Transmission is trash. IT is reliable though. Just wait.
@@Littlegoblinfatface If you thrash the be'jassus out of it you'll have issues, as you would with any transmission. However, the 729R transmission in the GLK is as near to indestructible as you're apt to find if you don't beat the piss out of it.
Thank you for the reassurance. I'm about to purchase my first car and I want this one in red. Lol. But I don't like the screen that it comes with, I want to update it.
That's a 272 Mercedes engine. As long as it doesn't have the balance shaft problem some of the earlier models had, it's one of the most reliable Mercedes engines. As far as the camshaft timing being out, it could be the cam magnets. Very common on that engine. They're like $30 a piece and it's got 4. They sit right in front of the engine and easy to replace
I owned a 2011 GLK 4matic, and I never had one problem with it. I bought mine used, and it had some of the best maintenance records. The one he is reviewing obviously was rode hard. Not a fair assessment of a used GLK.
Willi six I have a Mercedes with 375k miles on it with original engine and transmission and it has no problems, while my friends Toyota’s transmission went out at 220k miles. He doesn’t know ...... he’s talking about. Plus those are not leather seats like he said. And his scanner reads km and car show it in miles and he’s saying someone screw with mileage on the car. He has no idea what he’s talking about.
You have to take this guys videos with a grain of salt. I've watched enough to see the spreading of false information and severe biases. Anyone who has owned a GLK (X204) knows what an amazing and trouble free vehicle it is.
My mom bought a 2010 used in 2012 with 40k and it was one of the most reliable cars we’ve ever had. She’s mostly owned Toyota’s. Sold it at 157k and it never had a single issue and the only maintenance it received was oil changes. Took it in at 114k for a health checkup and it got front control arms and front brakes and rotors. Never got any other maintenance and it drove like a dream til the day we sold it. What an endless money pit.
Also Scotty this was definitely not rolled back. Do you really think they rolled it back to exactly the same miles as the scan tool shows for kilometers? What are the chances of that? These cars cannot be easily rolled back as the mileage is stored many places and will illuminate a tamper dot. If these people paid for your expertise and you told them it was rolled back I think you owe them a refund.
As others have already pointed out, the mileage „scam“ at the 3:05 Minute marker is nothing but the US mileage on the odometer measured in kilometers by the vehicle‘s ecu. European cars in general do all their internal accounting in kms not miles. This is true for BMWs, Mercedes, Audi etc. Stuff like this is exactly why I rarely watch Scotty Kilmer. There are so many less hyped up, more realistic car UA-camrs out there.
That makes it sadder that the engine isn't going to last 100,000! Maybe Scotty was trying to give Mercedes the benefit of the doubt by blaming it on the dealer.
I have a 2015 350 and every mechanic from different dealerships says they are among the most reliable of any Mercedes and bullet proof. There is wisdom in the multitude of counselors
The main Odometer of the vehicle is in miles therefore the scan tool will display it in miles. PLUS, when you convert miles to kilometers it doesn't match exactly. Therefore, it was indeed screwed with at some point.
@@caayydenn 134,661/83,673 = 1.609. That is the conversion from miles to km. Make America great again with arithmetic. And please dump Trump, he is of no use to anybody. (How did NASA get Apollo 11 to the moon and back? (I am starting to believe the conspiracy theories, I have lost faith in the current capabilities in USA)
My dads got a used ‘08 ml350 that he bought for 15k and it’s been great! Never been in the shop and it’s got 250k miles on it, probably many miles left on it as well.
The diesel is a much better option for those GLK's (2013-2015)...durable AF!! I just did a road trip from BC down to Hollywood, back up via Arizona, Utah etc etc in my 2013 GLK 250 Bluetec with zero issues, amazing MPG's!!
Have a 2015 Mercedes glk250 bluetec. Amazing and great reliable vehicle. I have driven Mercedes for decades and never had a bad engine or transmission! Maintenance is key to any vehicle. I am sure if I look, I can find a junker in any brand- if the vehicle has not been maintained at all. Mercedes has been a good brand for me. Know your years and models and the best ones to buy.
I have a 2015 glk350 and I have had it for 3 years and it has only ever needed dealer oil changes and one airbag check. Other then that it’s been great
@@scottykilmer Easy test, record the number, drive 5 miles, then check it again. If it went up by 5, its miles, and you are right... if it went up by 8, it is KM, and you are wrong
KMS to MILES x.62137 true however I did get scammed by a dash replacement bought at 129,000 computer showed 430,000 cost me $291.oo/ mo over 3yrs . . . 2007 x-trail sent to the crusher after 3g in parts thinking that it had 129,000 . . . So Scotty has a point that it can be done as the computer & dash recorded odo are separate on many cars .
Never a problem out of our 1999 ML320 and finally traded it in on a 2011 GLK 350 . it's 2020 and absolutely no issues with it so far . We do a service once per year .
I bought Certified pre-owned GLK 350 2011 from Mercedes dealership @ 50k miles in April 2017. No trouble so far except for regular wear and tear e.g. changing oil, tires and brakes. Knock on wood!

Yes I know this is a way late reply to this, but just seen this video. Just for an update note, I own a 2011 GLK 350 wife is still driving it today 2022.. Only one mechanical part replaced the secondary airpump. Replaced it for 80bucks. Runs amazing perfect size, great suv to buy great handling great off road and in winter. Finding parts is easy and fairly cheap.
I’ve had one of these for 5 years and it’s never had a problem. I maintain it well, so that obviously helps, but on the whole, I’ve loved it. Sorry Scotty!
I rented one of these for a trip to the North Carolina mountains, and it was a great vehicle. Lots of power, smooth ride, 4-matic went up a 15% grade logging road with no problems. Too bad they're not Scotty approved.
Just a few observations about the glk. Scan tool mileage is in kilometers, 1st verify your unit of measurements or your diagnostics can be very wrong. 2nd that engine is known to have balance shaft issues and the fix is nowhere near the cost of replacing an engine.
Funny because many mechanics have gone out of their way to tell me how reliable the GLK series is, and that was my experience with my 2013 we had for 10 years. Literally one of the best cars I ever owned.
I have had one of these for the past two years. It's been a fantastic luxury vehicle and with zero problems. Have not had any major repairs all I had to do is change the oil and the brakes myself.
I have a 2015 350 GLK I bought it with 1600 pre-used and it never gave me any problems. I’ve had it six years now and I’m about to get a battery change so it treated me good preowned. From the Mercedes-Benz dealership so if you’re going to get a used vehicle pay Mercedes, I will recommend you get it from the dealership.
I owned a 2012 and traded it in at 98000 miles for a 2015 GLK350 and have LOVED them both and have had ZERO issues with them. Current one has 74000 miles on it and is still worth $18,000. Plenty of power. WONDERFUL car.
I own a 2010 GLK 350 4matic. I drove 43,000 km in 10 months and all I did was to make sure I did the oil and filter change every 15,000 km. It’s not as bad on fuel as others say. I get an average of 550 km per tank of gas (about 60 litres), city and highway. So far, it runs very well and I love it. I bought it used and it had 98,000 km on it and now have 141,000 km. I think I’m keeping it :)
2010 4matic here. 109k miles. The steering lock immobilizer just failed but my mechanic fixed it for under $1k. Other than that, it's been nothing but reliable. Ordered new rear struts, brake pads/rotors, spark plugs and filters to do myself. Total for parts was under $600 and a fun Saturday coming up!
you insulted my car, but you are wrong. glk350 is one of the most reliable cars ever made, having won the JD Power (industry standard, more reliable than the opinions of thousands of mechanics like you) reliability award in 2015 with a 5/5 (same as Lexus RX350)
Ours has 260K kms on it, bought it 6 years ago with 90K, best vehicle I have ever driven on snow. 140MPH top speed, 0-60 in 7.9....not a slouch for a heavy solid vehicle. Of course, in the US they love to bad mouth anything European. Take a trip and see what folks are driving in Europe.
These Mercedes glks are actually very decent vehicles and pretty reliable if you maintain them. Scotty gives a bad rap to Mercedes sometimes, some of their vehicles aren't the greatest but that's with any vehicle. Some of the most reliable vehicles I have ever owned were Mercedes. I had one that drove for 700,000kms!!! (483,000miles) and got rid of it only because it started having electrical problems. I managed to sell it for a decent price because the motor was still going hard!!!! Wasn't showing any signs of dying! At 700,000km!!!! So I do love Mercedes-Benz. That company has been good to me so far
@@scottykilmer I didn't think you made it up. There must be a discrepancy with the interface. As far as I know, those odometers are hard to tamper with.
Always get a used car that has the service records, you can track that to the mileage on the odometer. If no service records, don’t buy it! I like that scan tool. Just bought a 2008 Lexus GS350 with a 100k miles. All the service had been done at the same Lexus dealer. Thank you sir!
Another owner of a 2010 with zero problems. I’m keeping this car forever, for that reason. & I ’ve owned plenty of cars, and kept none. This is honestly the most underrated cars ever
OMG, 83676 miles to KILOMETERS IS 134,661! This video review of Scotty's opinion of the Mercedes GLK 350 left me in shock. You lost me as a fan on this one scotty. Shame you didn't even enlighten your tone to appreciate one of the top high end vehicles manufacturer. And why even scan the car if the car didn't even throw a check engine light? apparently, it starts, it runs, it revs and it sounds just fine. I feel like this degrading video is just for the views and to profit from it.
83673 miles = 134658 km. Scotty many times the scantool reads in Kilometers, happened to me couple times. So mileage is goot. Those are the camshaft problems for that car for those yrs
semecristian yeah I’m thinking the condition of this car isn’t as bad as he says. Definitely is reading in km. No German car is going to output miles from the obdII port.
Have owned my 2010 Mercedes GLK 350 4matic for 11 years. Have had zero issues. Pushing 210k miles. My only complaint with this car is changing the headlight bulbs. Not a great design with flimsy paperclip that holds the bulb in place - AND they are very hard to get to.
Have a 2010 glk 350 purchased used in 2011 with 36000 miles. Now have 183000 mikes and some change. Always kept up with maintenance with very few issues. Will be looking to buy another should anything ever happen to the one we have now. Until then.
My c class has the original version of the MFI M104.9x. Mechanical 2.8 liter straight 6, 200 horsepower, no problems. Currently at 215,000 original miles. How far Mercedes has fallen.
Mercedes are good cars run and drive nicely. But expensive to repair. The owner for that vehicle got it used .I believe it has been abused by the previous owner.
my gl450 is in good shape, it’s a 2008 and got 85.000 miles, and no problems the owner of that car did not care about it, they dog it out for the next person, but when a person buy a car like this and cannot afford to pay for it they usually mess it up on perfect because it’s gonna get reposed anyway, and they don’t care if it fall apart in the parking lot, and the dealerships think just like them, patch it up and sell it fast as they can, the love of money is the root of all evil, and the world would take money over doing the right thing, sometimes I wish I’ll had my own island and just live off the land without tv, computers, phone, car, radio, etc,
My 95 E300 got 375k miles on it with original engine and transmission and still runs strong. My daily driver, it never once got me stranded on the side of the road.
Excellent cars, not all mercedes are good but these w204s are solid and stil relatively simple will great build quality. I just hit 280k in my 2008 C300 with original engine.trans. Not a single leak or hickup, thing just drives and im far from nice to it when I drive. Get a sprint booster and you'll know what I mean. The stock throttle delay is horrible on these cars.
I had a 2011 c300 and the esl went bad. $950 to fix it. Garbage cars. I paid $18,000 for it used about 4 or 5 years ago. Now it's worth about $6000. I'm never buying a German car again
That engine is fine, the m272s go 300k + without serious problems. This glk is a lifted w204 which is what I have and I just hit 280k trouble-free without any serious problems. The engine just needs cam position sensors and will run another 150k. The glk350 engines are everywhere for 1500$ at local junk yards from crashed ones. Its a simple DOHC that came out in the early 2000s, very simple engine to maintain with no direct injection, your wrong here scotty. Mercedes are like lego, if something goes wrong, you can use parts from c350 or e350 and even the engine is shared in the ml350/S350s.. Just be resourceful owning a mercedes and you will be fine. Stay away from the dealer too
I was looking at buying one of these used as there are a ton of them in this area for good prices. The worst thing I could find was the transmission control module that can cause abrupt downshifts at low speeds which is a simple unplug and replace with in a new one for a couple hundred bucks. Everything else I could find pointed to a solid reliable vehicle with a surprisingly capable all wheel drive system. Interior quality is average though.
@@theslimeylimey He is wrong! Even in the video the car only had two faults so he couldn't bash it on that (Even if it has 10 codes, its not faults, just the ECU detected something once and didnt like it. Reset it and it will be fine) These are on the top of the list in terms of reliable used SUVs. Avoid the 2012+ GLK350s since they went GDI and are more complicated. 2008-2011 GLK350 are simple and reliable mercedes. Scotty just needed content
@@Motorsportsgeek I find amazing that Americans in general bash the Germans, but when I watch Autobahn videos, I rarely see a car on the road that isn't German, and all of them seem to be in top shape. America has a very particular way to deal with cars, that can't be replicated anywhere in the world, not even in rich countries. They don't care with maintenance, and discard cars for very minor reasons. Just take a look at their auction sites, you would see cars with very minor collisions for auction, something that would be easily repaired anywhere in the world.
Bought a 2011 glk350. Been driving the hell out of it for 4yrs. Not a damn thing wrong with it. And the mileage on that car hasn’t been changed. Your scan tool is km. I’m a Toyota guy and I’m on your side. But I think your a little too hard against Mercedes and bmw. I’ve owned multiple and never had an issue. Great channel.
My GLK was a great car. I got 115k miles on it with no real issues. Towards the end, I did have to replace the radiator and it had an oil leak. If you avoid the dealer and take it to a shop that specializes in German vehicles it would have been a reasonable repair cost (but I chose to trade it in a get another Mercedes).
Very deceiving of you scotty. You know those miles were in KMs on the scanner. Even holding your finger over it. Mileage is correct.. Shame on you. Don't trust you any more
I've had pretty good luck with my GLK 250 (Diesel) 4matic (AWD). Ran into a common issue with a turbo charge line and fixed it myself but aside from that it's been reliable with no major repairs in two years.
Oh Scotty......I continue to watch your videos as I find them funny but a lot of miss information in them, I have always wondered why the attack on Mercedes and BMW. In this video alone the mileage discrepancy is on you, convert the miles on your tester from km to miles and you will see it matches up so no problem there, I would also like to point out that being at the mileage it is at, probably just needs a set of mounts to cure your vibration. I just hope that people can do their own research and not rely solely on your opinion.
My mom has this same car, a 2011 Mercedes glk 4 matic with 127k miles and it’s been our most realizable car and my mom loves it it been good to us especially during the exams winter storm during February while other cars spun out the 4 matic all wheel drive helped us
I got my GLK from Mercedes it wasn’t certified but I have had it for seven years now! Just changed the oil today Mobile 1!! I liked the GLK because compared to most they are relatively simple I have done most work on it myself never had a check engine light come on! And best part spring shocks not air ride!!! But other than that love your channel Scotty been tuning in for years!
Quite interesting, here in Germany we can say the same about american cars :D - at least if you shake a tree you'll find at least 10 mechanics that knows everything about a Mercedes or BMW engine and nothing about a Ford or GM engine.
This is an entertainment channel. It's just for fun. Most of the time you don't want to actually do what he says. This video is a perfect example of that.
LOL! I’ve owned mine since new in 2012. We call it thePanzer because it’s a tank. Had one repair that cost me $1,800 Canadian, once. Otherwise flawless. Love driving it.
My father bought one back in 2009.diesel 2.2 turbo. There were some problems with the engine at first and the dealership fixed it for Free. When the software was updated, we didnt have any problems beyond regular maintenance costing 500 dollars per year, until today 250k miles later
I got the diesel version and it’s been the best vehicle I’ve ever owned. The reliability is outta this world and it still looks better than the GLC that replaced it. I will drive this into the ground.
I've had this vehicle for 10+ years now and have not had any problems with it so my recommendation is don't listen to this guy he doesn't know what he's talking about. To me if you're looking for problems you're probably gonna find them so I wouldn't take any advice from this individual he doesn't know what he's talking about it seems like all of his videos are pretty negative anyway and that just seems to be the norm with some mechanics they say everything's is junk
👀 *I'm about to drive one of these from Texas to Rhode Island in less than 48hrs!* Why would you do this to me Mr. Kilmer! *Houston! We have a problem!* Safe travels Everyone! Thank you Scotty for doing what you do!

That's a 272 Mercedes engine. As long as it doesn't have the balance shaft problem some of the earlier models had, it's one of the most reliable Mercedes engines.
If you move your finger it will say KM. The mileage converts to exactly the KM on your scan tool.
That makes it sadder that the engine isn't going to last 100,000!
Maybe Scotty was trying to give Mercedes the benefit of the doubt by blaming it on the dealer.

Just a few observations about the glk. Scan tool mileage is in kilometers, 1st verify your unit of measurements or your diagnostics can be very wrong. 2nd that engine is known to have balance shaft issues and the fix is nowhere near the cost of replacing an engine.

How far Mercedes has fallen.
Mercedes are good cars run and drive nicely. But expensive to repair. The owner for that vehicle got it used .I believe it has been abused by the previous owner.
my gl450 is in good shape, it’s a 2008 and got 85.000 miles, and no problems the owner of that car did not care about it, they dog it out for the next person, but when a person buy a car like this and cannot afford to pay for it they usually mess it up on perfect because it’s gonna get reposed anyway, and they don’t care if it fall apart in the parking lot, and the dealerships think just like them, patch it up and sell it fast as they can, the love of money is the root of all evil, and the world would take money over doing the right thing, sometimes I wish I’ll had my own island and just live off the land without tv, computers, phone, car, radio, etc,
I also had two MBs with that engine. They were excellent cars. That GLK has been abused. That engine will easily go over 200,000 miles with no issues.
My 95 E300 got 375k miles on it with original engine and transmission and still runs strong. My daily driver, it never once got me stranded on the side of the road.

My mom has this same car, a 2011 Mercedes glk 4 matic with 127k miles and it’s been our most realizable car and my mom loves it it been good to us especially during the exams winter storm during February while other cars spun out the 4 matic all wheel drive helped us
My neighbor had 4 and each one has reached over 180k miles with minimum issues.
Quite interesting, here in Germany we can say the same about american cars :D - at least if you shake a tree you'll find at least 10 mechanics that knows everything about a Mercedes or BMW engine and nothing about a Ford or GM engine.
lol
Feels like few people outside America prefer Ford/GM over other brands.
GLKs are known to be quite reliable.
I don't like videos that talk about cars I own. He is right. They are a POS. Mercedes makes things overly complicated on purpose.
I don't listen to this guy. All he spouts is common car knowledge. This mercedes was literally the most reliable car they ever made
1 mile =
1.609344 kilometers
The old Merc knows better.
How long have you had yours? I just learned about the diesel version for the glk.
The GLC looks pretty good too though.
I've had this vehicle for 10+ years now and have not had any problems with it so my recommendation is don't listen to this guy he doesn't know what he's talking about. To me if you're looking for problems you're probably gonna find them so I wouldn't take any advice from this individual he doesn't know what he's talking about it seems like all of his videos are pretty negative anyway and that just seems to be the norm with some mechanics they say everything's is junk
im surprised they could actually revert a benz’s miles
thats truly sad
if it shows nearly 50k less miles what else they are hiding ?
Not sure if this is the case but 83673 mi converts to 134658 km.
@@gordonk6072 it was in miles :/
@@gordonk6072 That´s the explanation, the scanner being for German cars is in km
@@gordonk6072 Good find. Ya its in kms
The myth of German engineering.
I just bought a 2012 glk350 after watching this video.
Maybe it's showing the reading in km. 83k miles almost equivalent to 134k km.
Computers don’t usually deal with “almosts”
I've had a GLK250 Diesel 4Matic for years. Never had to fix anything. Gets 900km out of a $100 tank of diesel. I've never had a more reliable vehicle.
I love my 2010 GLK350 and it's easy to work on. Luckily it only has 72k miles and I only drive like 5k a year haha
I have a 2011, made in Germany
It's a Mercedes, will cost a bit more to maintain
Great vehicle overall
I have a 2011 also, nothing wrong with it
👀 *I'm about to drive one of these from Texas to Rhode Island in less than 48hrs!* Why would you do this to me Mr. Kilmer! *Houston! We have a problem!* Safe travels Everyone! Thank you Scotty for doing what you do!
A chick at my school drives one of these, daddy’s money 💵
