  • This video shows the installation of a pair of fairly typical LED headlight "bulbs" in the GLK. I show the noise that is created by the previous pair of LED bulbs, as a warning when shopping for similar products.
I show some endoscope video of the inside of the headlight housing to give you a better idea of what is in there, and what you'll have to do for a successful installation. Because of the cramped space and poor sight lines, it's helpful to get some tips so your installation will go smoothly.
The LED bulbs I installed are Fahren H7, 20000 Lumen, 6500K Cool White H7 Bulb, IP68 Waterproof. In the video, I measured the output (using a lux measurement app on my spare smartphone), and saw the light output is well over twice that compared to the original halogen bulbs. The color temperature is nice, too - bright white without that annoying (to me...) blue tint.
The focus on both headlights remained very sharp, like the original bulbs. That's due to the LED emitters being placed at the same relative distance from the bulb's baseplate.
I should mention that these bulbs can be rotated on the baseplate (to fine-tune the focus), or can be removed from the baseplate by pulling straight back (with the bulb turned to 12o'clock or 6o'clock, I believe). That is a nice touch, as it means you don't have to release the clip to swap out a bulb (assuming you use an identical style bulb, of course).
As always, if this video helped you out, I'd sincerely appreciate it if you'd like the video and subscribe to my channel. This will make it easier to find other related videos (including a lot of Mercedes GLK videos), and will help me continue to produce future videos.
    Thanks!

Hello, what’s the name of the replacement Led lights. Thank you.

I honestly don't remember, and don't have the receipts where I can put my hands on them to find out. You don't really need a bulb with the rotatable base for the GLK though - on my daily driver GLK, I did, because one (aftermarket replacement) headlight had a clip that rotated over the base of the bulb. But yours should have the clip that moves vertically, so the fat fan housing won't get in the way anyway. That will open up a whole lot more options. I'd suggest doing a bit of research to find a set of LED bulbs that have great ratings, and that are designed to perfectly replace the original halogen bulb (by having the LED element at the same distance from the base as the halogen bulb). Good luck with your conversion!
