    From a fellow HP4 owner,
    I always enjoy hearing what people think when they ride one.
    Have had mine for 2 years now and it always brings a manic smile to my face,
    less pleasant is the heightened police sensor nervousness lol.

      It's still the best bike I have ever ridden, and just sexual to look at lol.

      They were a 2013 - 2014 build year run, 2015 bought us the duck billed S1000rr.
      I am keen to see if BMW will release a new one next year based on the the 2015 + S1000rr model.
      What interesting goodies will be in the bag for that - carbon wheels, frame and swingarm on anybody elses wishlist?
      Wonder if it will be called the HP4.1 lol

    • @jah280
      @jah280 8 років тому

      The Tuono is very different from the HP4. Power wise, it's all low end and midrange torque. The top end is mild compared to the HP4, but anything short of an H2 is, so no biggie. And you can definitely feel the (lack of) aerodynamics once you get over 120mph. It still has more than adequate pull. Handling wise, it's not as sharp as the BMW or RSV4 I rode earlier this year, but it's got great maneuverability and would be an amazing commuter ride that just happens to have 90% of the ability of a pure superbike, while being more comfortable.

    You think it's got balls now? Let your friend know if/when he ever starts to get bored with it...replace the cat with Akrapovic's titanium cat delete mid pipe and flash the ecu. When I got mine done it brought the performance to an entirely next level! You keep talking about how it feels like Christmas morning lol and I know exactly how you feel. My 2013 HP4 got delivered December 29th 2012 on a 36 degree day here in NY. Couldn't wait to take a test ride though! Also the standard HP4 with the exhaust, forged wheels and DDC is a cheaper overall package than the 2015 & 2016 S1000RR's. What you get with the HP4 package would cost way more if you made the same mod's to the newer models.

    • @DukeOfDC
      @DukeOfDC  8 років тому

      Hahaha, so I've heard. I'm an avid subscriber of 650ib who has the above upgrades and more done to his HP4 and it seems to outperform the new S1000RR in smackdowns. The real question is, can I handle more bike lol

  • @VeeFour
    @VeeFour 8 років тому

    sweet! it was good to see you give it the berries too, that needed to happen yolo.
    since i rode the 2015 RR last year it keeps coming back into my thoughts, and I just know that I'll end up owning one some day. Great vid buddy

    • @DukeOfDC
      @DukeOfDC  8 років тому

      Yeah, these demo bikes have been great to ride, but I'm never allowed to give it the beans, so this was a huge improvement. I agree man, the HP4 and in turn the RR are just damn near perfect bikes. Idk though, I'm still quite interested in the S1000XR. Something about the upright feel and the ability to strap a bunch of camping gear to it and go anywhere is just epic.

    • @VeeFour
      @VeeFour 8 років тому

      +DukeOfDC abdolutely! if I wasn't running two bikes (three if you count my track only R1) the XR would be squarely in my sights

    I have a COMP and it was 26 Grand got it from a shop in Seattle. Where did you hear the manufactured number of 6000 and was that world wide. BECAUSE. I have information that less than 200 of the COMPS in America. Can you confirm that. My reaction is the same as yours every time I ride it and the Vibrations goes away north of 8000 rpm. COMP's are getting more rare because they are track bikes that are thrashed and those of us that bought them for road bikes are keeping them nice and they are 20 grand all day long. The RR's will never have stock, the same wheel set or the brakes and the DDC is setup differently so the HP4 is a unique bike that is important for being the first to do it all. CHEERS !!

    • @DukeOfDC
      @DukeOfDC  7 років тому +1

      Interesting, I was going off of some research that I had done prior to making the video. That being said, the bike I road had a manufactured number in the 3,000s and was a comp package. I won't be able to confirm, but if anyone else reads this that can, please comment to this thread.

      My number is 5732 so I think your right because mine was one of the last brought in US. I cant believe that there are 6000 in the US mainly because of the used availability, so that number must be world wide. CHEERS !

    im in two minds. i want an s1000rr as well as a tuono v4r 1100... very different bikes, but i am very keen to see how much harder the s1000rr accelarates from 0-200. the new tuono has plenty grunt, and probably more comfy for daily riding. but i dont want to be embaressed by my mate on his s1000rr between the green lights

    Your likes are fast climbing towards 250! Great review, like the enthusiasm. Your Tuono still sounds great too. Have you ever looked into windscreen options for the Tuono that would provide a little more wind redirection, without looking like a batwing? I bet the wind protection on the HP4 settles things down in the cockpit quite a bit. Thanks again.

    • @DukeOfDC
      @DukeOfDC  8 років тому

      They seriously are!! You guys are so awesome! Thanks for the support :) The Tuono always makes itself heard haha. I have looked into windscreen options, but that's really just the beginning of what the Tuono needs to be more of a comfortable "daily" bike, although I have put 8,000 miles on it in the last year, so I still ride it daily haha.

    • @gsgoinwest
      @gsgoinwest 8 років тому

      I'll be curious to see what you get for your next bike. I have a Hypermotard 796 and although it lacks in power, it's a bike you can wring out once in a while and it's a more forgiving riding position. Plus the Ducati motor is addicting. My aging BMW GSA has also been a great bike...BMW has some great offerings. Then there's things like the MT-09 which offer a lot of bang for the buck. The ideal scenario...have at least 2 bikes with differing qualities...if/when you can. Great channel.

  • @Lonnie91a
    @Lonnie91a 8 років тому

    Rain mode is 163hp I believe and sport and race are 193. Hp4 also has higher end suspension than the new s1000rr. Ddc is the same though.

    • @DukeOfDC
      @DukeOfDC  8 років тому

      On the s1000rr that is true, but on the HP4 in Rain mode you still have all the power, it just changes the throttle response.

    • @Lonnie91a
      @Lonnie91a 8 років тому +1

      +DukeOfDC I own a 2014 hp4 and the owners manual says 163hp in rain mode and -5% throttle response. Sport mode 193hp and -5% throttle. Race 193hp and full throttle response.

    • @Lonnie91a
      @Lonnie91a 8 років тому +1

      +Double Red_Rolex I've got 7300 miles on my hp4 and I can tell you that rain mode is not the same power as sport or race mode :)

      Double Red_Rolex I stand corrected good sir! Well then holy tits is this thing fast in Rain mode hahaha

    • @agtronic
      @agtronic 4 роки тому

      @@DukeOfDC I have a 2013 and can definitely attest to there being less top end in Rain mode. A 40 HP drop sounds about right. Another fun fact, which is also in the user manual, is that over 100 km/h the ram air effect brings the power output to 200 bhp. I don't know how accurate that is, but I read it with my own eyes in the HP4-specific manual.

    • @ehsan83
      @ehsan83 8 років тому

      you should try them. Horsepower wise these 3 bikes are quiet the same. BMW is logically more nimble and lighter than those 2 beasts. However where those two shine is torque wise. They have much more torque at lower RPM so the sensation is even crazier than the BMW 😊 Actually i would love to see your reaction with them 😂

    Well as far as i know is as follows. The HP Models were and still are limited.The production scale was from 2012 to 2014 where the production stops. So basically you are riding a 2014 model or so beind "plated" on 2015. There are similar Videos of Rudi schneider and even sepp mechler (production Managers of this bike and the s1k series)telling the same. Like always the HP Version is a limited Version and BMW still has some in Charge that were produced but not like "just builded". Id like to copy the sentence "it will always remain a rare object" . The fact it is not this common nowdays is thae fact that since 2015 the top model of the s1krr has the hp4 stuff inside but it it cheaper and more developed. You basically can decide between buying something unique and to buy the best on stock. Most ones got for the ordenary RR because she simply is higher advanced. I do own an HP myself and I think the "old" RR simply is more beautiful thn the new one so Id never trade the hp4 against ny new RR NEVER! Basically both are way beyond most of us cn do without the help of the techs so .... I decided from the fiew and this makes the "old" look win for me ^^

      This is on my top 3 list, that's for damn sure. They're difficult to find, but I'm making some progress :) It felt faster than the RSV4, but the RSVR was also still in it's break-in period, so I couldn't ring it out like this. The Hp4 is an inline 4

      If you get the chance, perhaps you could review the MV Augusta F4. Even the smaller F3 is full of tricks.

    You've called it a V4 and an inline 4. It can't be both man.

      It was a simple slip of the tongue during moments of excitement. It's an inline 4. My Tuono was a V4, likely why V4 was still on my mind.

    • @DukeOfDC

      Well, in the used market they are starting to come down to a relatively reasonable price, so I would say with an effective savings plan, almost anyone could own one of these.
