  • 2015 BMW S1000RR | Ride & Review
    Yesterday was without question one of the most spoiled days I have had in a long time. Much love to Motorcycles of Dulles for letting me take out the S1000RR after my S1000R test ride, just because I was drooling over it.
    As for the S1000RR, wow. Everything you have read is true. It is one hell of a bike, and certainly the future in terms of technology and motorcycles. I loved it, even for the short time that I got to spend on it, and I could possibly see it in my Duke garage in the near future.
    As always, like, comment, and subscribe for more ;)
    I know that these last reviews have been a little on the short end, but I am working on finding some beautiful roads and new dealerships to work with me so I can show you all the latest and greatest.
    Sincerely,
    Duke

    very ferm press to downshift... You knew that the throttle had to be completely closed right? But nice review anyway!

    I test drove one a week ago. The downshifting wasn't as bad as I thought. Bike you could argue is too perfect.

      +cal raise It's a dream machine lol. I was actually about to head back to the dealership and take this out again because I've been day dreaming about it lol

    It won't let me reply to your message +Tuur Laenen so hopefully you'll see this. Yeah that was definitely a strange thing to get used to, but after about 5 minutes I had it down. I imagine that is why it was giving me some resistance though. Probably had the throttle slightly open when attempting to downshift. Thanks for the sub!

      Reece Evans The stock exhaust game has been stepped up for some of these new 2015 models, and that overun on the RR is just fantastic.

      cwugrad396 Thanks! Yeah the S1000RR was soo comfortable. I could definitely see myself eating up a lot of miles on one of these.

      Hey Duke! Yeah I would like to re-do that Yam test-ride at some point but I reaaaaaally liked that BMW. I gotta rent the BMW to really get a proper ride on it.

    • @DukeOfDC
      @DukeOfDC  8 років тому

      ***** How do you rent these bikes? Through the dealership that you go to, or is there a dedicated motorcycle rental place that has supersports? I've heard of renting like GS's but never sportbikes.

    • @spacep0d
      @spacep0d 8 років тому

      DukeOfDC
      There are a couple of rental places near me...or near enough. One is in Hollywood and I believe there are more in the South Bay. The one in Hollyweird has a couple BMW bikes and a lot of Ducatis, but not every bike I want to rent. They used to have a 2013+ Triumph Daytona 675R but someone wrecked it....and I was so annoyed because I wanted to rent that! They do have this BMW and a 2015 Ducati 959 Panigale...both of which I want to rent and try on ACH. Soon!

    • @DukeOfDC
      @DukeOfDC  8 років тому

      ***** Damn man, that would be awesome to rent a 959 for the weekend and get a real feel for the bike before making a review video or more importantly buying one. I'll have to see if there are good rental places in the DC area. Thanks for the info bud!

    This bike was on my short list before I bought my Aprilia, and there's a good chance that I'd have been sat on one now if my Tuono hadn't come up for a bargain price.

    • @DukeOfDC
      @DukeOfDC  9 років тому +1

      I think you and I are the same person haha. The S1000RR also comes with that special feeling when you're on it.

    • @VeeFour
      @VeeFour 9 років тому

      Ha, you may be onto something there. I'm not sure how I'd have got on with one long term, I've recently done a track day on a Fireblade, and I found that really uncomfortable after an hour on track. I think I may try and con my local BMW dealer into giving me a test ride so I can share the experience

    • @DukeOfDC
      @DukeOfDC  9 років тому +1

      The S1000RR was way more comfortable than I thought it would have been. I think the seating position is much lower than other 1000cc supers sports. Definitely go out and take one for a spin! I look forward to the video ;)

  • @DukeOfDC

    Also, finally figured out what format UA-cam likes so that these videos don't upload washed out!

    • @VeeFour
      @VeeFour 9 років тому

      DukeOfDC What format do you use?

    • @DukeOfDC
      @DukeOfDC  9 років тому

      So for my camera, I film at 1080 60fps but that was never an issue, as the raw footage looked fantastic. It was always after uploading to UA-cam that things looked "washed out". I did a little research and found a lot of literature about video codex stuff. Long story short, I now produce my movies in H264 AVC (28mbps) and the difference is drastically improved upload quality to UA-cam.

    • @VeeFour
      @VeeFour 9 років тому

      DukeOfDC Hmmm, I've just had a look at H264 and on Power Director it only lets you produce at 30 fps

    • @DukeOfDC
      @DukeOfDC  9 років тому

      Very interesting. I also use PowerDirector 13 for my editing and in the production area there is a setting for 60p under the H264 prime settings

    Which bike would you get Triumph Daytona 675R, s1000rr or s1000r. Now I know the daytona is a 600cc bike but its so light and the handling is amazing.

    • @DukeOfDC
      @DukeOfDC  9 років тому

      I've never ridden a Daytona 675R before, but I have been on a Street Triple R, so I can base a relatively good suggestion off of that experience. I loves the triumph, and for the price of a very recently used one, I would go triumph all day. However, if money isn't an issue, then my personal choice would be the S1000RR out of these three. It was comfortable, usable powerband, incredibly smooth, quick shifter up and down, and more electronic bits than the space shuttle.

    • @ride4life754
      @ride4life754 9 років тому

      DukeOfDC Thank you for the response! Love your videos btw! Good point, I just recently test road the S1000RR and the only things I didn't like was the heat that came from the engine and the vibrations in the bars. Did you experience the same things? You should test ride the 675R I'm really curious to see how you would like it. If you can could you make that your next video?
      P.s. I'm subscribing now since you actually response to people that's awesome of you!

    • @DukeOfDC
      @DukeOfDC  9 років тому +1

      Thanks for the sub! I did experience the vibrations a bit on the S1000RR but the heat wasn't as bad as the Tuono, so it didn't bother me at all. I imagine a heavier set of bar ends would help significantly with the vibration.
      I would love to get my hands on a 675R and might be able to at my local BMW/Triumph dealership, but it probably won't be for another month or so. I'll get my hands on one some day though, and certainly put a video out.

    Where their any requirements for the test ride?

    • @DukeOfDC
      @DukeOfDC  8 років тому +1

      +Light Bright You need to have a valid motorcycle endorsement, appropriate riding gear, and you'll need to sign a waiver that states that any damages to the bike and/or yourself are not the dealerships responsibility (standard for a test ride).

    and to to believe this is slow now, agaisnt European unrestricted bikes, R1 and 1299 it was beaten it in a 1/4 mile drag race, but it is still comfortable son there is that. it could outdrag a Murica spec Bike ( if it hasn't been unrestricted) but in europe, it gets whooped.
    the new 2016 rsv4 rr/rf with 201hp would smash it too.
    if you get a chance do the 2016 rsv4 RR/rf it will blow your head off. more HP per tonne than even this BMW and more torque . 175rwhp and 391lbs with tons of torque.
    people said it is as comfortable or more comfortable than the BMW now.
    entertaining review
