One day, I hope to purchase a brand new s1000rr. I just purchased my first liter bike. An 08 R1 with only 2176 mi. Had to jump on that deal. Traded in my 06 636 for 4k trade value and paid $3500 cash on top but i think it was worth it for a pretty much brand new barely ridden bike. Also dealer gave me brand new Q3s with the purchase.
You got an amazing deal for basically a brand new R1! Kudos to you my friend! and throwing in the Q3s was the icing on the cake! I have Q3s on both of my sportbikes! :) 🔥🔥🔥

“It’s Money”. Lol... Nice video. I had a 2013 S1000RR and she was nasty fast! I found a new 2014 HP 4 on the SHOW ROOM FLOOR and couldn’t resist. I don’t mess with Slick Mode.
Engine oil and transmission oil are the same thing on this bike as they are shared. As long as you use the correct motor oil and filter it won't affect your warranty to change it yourself. I find the oil changes on my S1000rr to be very easy to do unlike some other bikes. I only had the break in service done at dealer and did everything else myself. Love the Taylor made exhaust, I might get it as well.
Thanks for the feed back JSX! I didn't know the transmission and engine oil was one in the same on this bike..very cool. I actually sold my S1000RR a couple of months ago because I am moving back to the mainland. I did love that Taylormade exhaust! I can'r wait to show you guys my new bike in a couple of weeks!! :) #BlazeitUp 🔥🔥🔥
@@TheDucatiPilot yeah the clutch gearbox and engine all use the same oil. the clutch on most bikes are a wetclutch meaning they are bathing in the engine oil. i think only like ducati offers dry clutches. they sound like you broke something xD
I'm glad my R1 decided to die after I turned 25.. had no idea insurance was so high on this bike. Not entirely sure why people hate the thinness of the seat so much, it's ok. But as you mentioned in the video I find myself having to back off the gas tank often. It's a great bike, and a ton of fun. Great video
I 100% love this bike lol ironically I fell in love with the headlights thing looks like a damn transformer lol eventually going to trade my zx6r for one first chance I get
Mine supposedly had the traylor exhaust the muffler went bad I guess. He gave it to me in a box .I installed it and put a graves muffler on it looks great I'm glad I service mine myself, Its easy to work on.I put chain adjusters on mine .Along with other goodies I had to put radiator guards on it .Thought the the lack of protection in front of the oil cooler and radiator was the only flaw. I recommend getting those immediately. Hope you are still riding the 1299
I heard the graves muffler are great products. Never seen one in person though. I agree that radiator guards are key. I actually didn't have any installed on my S1000RR. I was lucky I didn't have any overheating issues. I still have the 1299, but I will be "upgrading soon ;) Cheers!
I’ve heard they will be going away with the asymmetrical design with the 2019 models which makes me kinda sad because that’s what draws me to the bike so much idk why I like it so much but I do
I've heard the same rumors. Hopefully they aren't true and they will keep the iconic asymmetrical design and just tweak the engine a little. The looks of the bike will decide if I purchase one or not.
I’m 23 and just bought a 2015 with 6700 miles and absolutely love it!!! Words cannot describe this BEAUTY!! You just have to ride it yourself. All glory to god!
Haha. I'm not quite the wheelie expert, so I didn't want to drop my $20k bike 😉 Now I own a Panigale....and I'm pretty sure I'm not going to wheelie that baby either (not on purpose at least! 😉)
@@rewmeister Awesome to hear man! The 2019 is still a proven quality bike. The new 2020's are having issues to include the loss of powerband in the engine before hitting 9k RPM. Good luck, ride safe, and enjoy that baby!
Haha! I'd like to know too. I would be amazing to gun this bad boy on the autobahn. I have driven a Mercedes at 180mph on the autobahn before. It truly would be an experience on a bike!
Friend bought one last night. Now I'm interested, most of my group upgraded to liter bikes(or busas) Thinking about this now. Currently running a Dyno tuned 120hp Gixxer 600 with 10k worth of goodies. Amazing bike but feels underpowered now.
You can't go wrong with the S1000RR. I currently own a 1299s, but I still miss the comfort and smooth power of the BMW. I'd recommend getting the S1000RR. Goodluck!
I know right?!? There is actually 3! (H1, H2, H3). I assume they call them "interstates" because they are federally funded. Unfortunately the fastest speed limit is 60mph, so riding wasn't fun when I lived in Hawaii.
Thanks brother! Glad to hear the video helped. My goal was to film a straight forward approach to owning a S1000RR so that everyone can easily know what you might be getting into owning this bike. I miss it alot, lol. I do love my new Panigale though! Thanks for the Sub! :)
Looking at getting one for my 18th birthday. Been riding 5 years and I’m reallllllllyyyyyyyyyyyy tempted, I should probably just go with a new cbr600rr or ZX6R lol
I think you should put the year of your bike in the description. There were a lot of changes between the 2014 and now old 2015 model. The quickshifter works great on the 2015+ models, the seat is comfortable and it's a generally better bike to ride than the 2014. When I watched this video and then saw your username, I first thought you were doing this because you wanted to rag on the BMW because you were a Honda guy.
Thanks for the detailed and helpful comment Swampster. I really appreciate when you guys leave constructive feedback to help my channel improve. The quick-shifter on the 2014 works only in up mode, but on 2015+, it works up and down. I never sat on a 2015+ seat, but I take your word that it is more comfortable. Haha, I never rag on the S1000RR. It was my baby and I still miss it. I don't regret buying a 1299 Panigale though. Also, I've kept the Honda all through the years. Cheers!
FirebladePilot I love the look and the legend of Ducati's but the reality is that even from back in the days of the 851 and 888, I never found them a comfortable bike to ride for more than a couple of hours. Back then I was a Yamaha guy and loved my FZR1000-EXUP. It was as quick as the 888 but rideable for hours. Fast foward 20 years, compared to the rest of the supersports bikes I find S1000RR comfortable and very easy to ride. I like your videos with the couple of caveats I mentioned. Remember that someone 5 years from now will look at this already outdated video and think that it's about the current model. Put the model year in the title and mention it in the video but otherwise it's all good. Ride, have fun, keep the rubber on the road and your ass off it! Helmet, gloves, jacket, pants, boots and 13,000 rpm full gas in 1st.
I agree with you on the fact that Ducatis are not comfortable. I can only ride my 1299 for about 45-1hr before my back hurts and I need a break. Same goes for the tremendous heat that the bike puts out. I have gotten used to these "issues" riding the bike over the last 10 months or so. I love the power and the looks, thats what keeps that bike in my garage. Thanks for watching my vids. I always appreaciate viewers of my Channel. Ride safe my Friend!
@@TheDucatiPilotAwesome thank you for your feedback, was that the only bike you ever had? I own a 2014 CBR1000rr and love it, but I got buyer for it, and now I just want to make a statement to some annoying idiots and get this BMW bike, I never ridden one and was wondering if you ever ridden a CBR and can compare the 2
You're welcome! I enjoy when people ask questions in the comments section that I can answer to help them. It's ironic that you ask if I have ever ridden a CBR.....I had an '06 and it was my baby! Please check out my other videos. I have done a ton of videos on both my CBR1000RR and my BMW. My current bike is a 2017 Ducati Panigale 1299S. I have done a "Things you must know video" on the CBR and a long term review, just search through my older vids. To compare the 2 bikes...well the CBR was a smooth ride, but the S1000RR was an acceleration BEAST! It was so quick off the line. I actually miss the BMW. Hope this helps and don't forget to Subscribe! Cheers!
I got mine for 8500 delivered to the door. I agree on the insurance I know this is an old video .I put a luimoto seat on mine You had the mission impossible bike .I use a go cruise control on mine.Nice to see this old video. My slick mode is violent
That's a pretty amazing deal! I almost bought a luimoto seat cover, but I bought that comfort seat instead. You are 100% correct o the Mission Impossible bike :)
I know this is a late comment but I'm absolutely in love with this bike and my local dealer has a used 2016 model with 5k miles listed for 14k. I'm trying really hard not to jump on it since I just started riding not too long ago and I'm trying to convince myself to be sensible and get a cbr650r for my next bike instead of this, but idk if I can do it
That sounds VERY tempting man! I started on a CBR250R and only rode it for 3 months before I bought a CBR1000RR. The transition wasn't too bad to go from a 250 to a 1000cc. I bought this BMW S1000RR about 4 months after the CBR1000. The bike is controllable and safe, as long as you respect the power and have good throttle control. Good luck and ride safe!
@@TheDucatiPilot yeah I'm on a 2015 R3 right now and an s1000rr is my dream bike. The insurance wouldn't be too bad even though I'm only 21, and I even respect the power of my R3.
@@Navieri Sounds like you are a man with a plan! I recommended riding that R3 a little longer until you feel like you have mastered it, then jump on that S1000RR. You won't regret it!
@@MADLITS1K I didn't get the s1000rr it's gonna be the next bike I'm gonna get, I ended up getting a 2018 Honda cbr1000rr because it was too good of a deal to pass up, the dealer was practically giving it away
I have never liked a bike that does not have symmetry: like single exhausts on one side. This one is even worse with it's weird headlights. Thank you for sharing
I am the same way man. I sold my S1000RR and got a Pangale 1299. The funny thing is I can't stand the new Panigale V4 because the Akra exhaust is non-symmetrical (unlike the Akra exhaust on my 1299) and the V4 looks goofy with the pipes sticking out underneath at odd angles. Cheers!
I actually don't pay that much because of the age discount and owning more than one bike on the policy. I can't imagine what someone under 25 would pay! Thanks for the comment Kevin!
FirebladePilot actually I’m 22 and just had an accident from hitting a dear and it came out to 140 a month for a 2012 s1000. It’s in Michigan not sure if that makes a difference. The only thing is they would make me pay 5 payments instead of 12 so it was like 5 payments 280 or so for the 1500$ a year total
Brandan Roberts I’m 43 just got rid of my 2017 zx14r and I was paying 115 per month full coverage in Texas with no accidents or tickets. On the flip side I have a Harley road glide ultra(old guy bike) and my insurance is 40 bucks a month full coverage.
I believe insurance is varies greatly between states and whether it has a year long riding season. Just moving to Florida from Hawaii raised my insurance an extra $500 a year. Crazy drivers and lots of accidents here in Florida, combined with year round riding.
Allstate is great if you're under 25! My monthly rate for full coverage on an s1krr is $115. Less than my buddies and he has a Harley Davidson street glide. Give them a try
8:06 Nope. They are like that for a different reason: High Beam vs Low Beam, for a better high it has to be small and focused and for a better low it has to be big and wide.
Soon enough my friend, soon enough! I honestly think it would be around an extra $20-$40 dollars a month for you. The older the S1000RR, the lower the insurance. Good luck!
WOW you live in HI with a bike like that- doin Good kiddo! I had spent long 'visits' in HI and always loved it- weather cannot be beaten, you can make $Dolla's and you always have the beaches. Hey compared to the Mainland you guys have a lot- enjoy!
That’s a great point. Almost too much grip. On my Panigale V4, I actually use the Ducati tank grips which don’t destroy leather, but the slide down a millimeter after each ride, due to the heat of tank.
Yeah it sucks for pricing here in Hawaii. I had alot more done than an oil change, but I was shocked by the final bill. That definitely put a hurt on my bank account that month! 🔥🔥🔥
Oh trust me I know all about it man, I drive a German car and the stealership has outrageous prices. Motorcycle dealers are no different. The first time you get a big fat bill is pretty shocking lol. That's why I do all the mechanical work myself now that I can or shop around for cheaper parts and labor if I can't. It forces you to be resourceful.
@@S58PSHIFTING I would say I am just as happy...it's pretty much a tie. I loved the smooth power and handling of the S1000RR, however I love the raw sound and aggressive acceleration of the Panigale. They are 2 very different bikes when comparing them side by side. I do want a new 2020 S1000RR M though, lol.
@@TheDucatiPilot I hear you, i guess I'm going to have to try that Ducati some day sounds and they look amazing, good luck on your bike. Thanks for the feedback.
Here in australia, for a 21 year old to get full coverage on the bike it will cost $3500+ for a 2015 s1000rr, and a second hand 2015 s1000rr cost from 17,000 to 23,000 aud. Bullshit if you ask me
*The insurance depends on your company, and driving record…. I got my first liter bike (a brand new 2015 cbr 1000rr) back in 2016 and my insurance was decent with full coverage
@@TheDucatiPilot Welcome to Denmark the fairytale country, even the taxations are crazy enough to be in one. if i buy a brand new lets say 10k bike, first they will add 180% registration tax and after that a flat 25% toll, so retail prize would be 35k
Thanks for the detailed info. The bike doesn't support "auto-blip" downshifts, but you can always downshift without a clutch, as long as you are in the correct speed range.
What do you think about a 2011 model? I looking at one with 18k miles, black. Looks good but as i never own one im a little bit afraid of problems or stuff like that, and because its 12 years old. Do you think its a good idea in 2023/24 getting this bike?
If I’m not mistaken, that was the first year of the S1000RR. 18K miles isn’t bad at all for a 12 year old bike. My 2014 model was bulletproof, and never gave me issues. I think the only thing I replaced was the battery. For the right price, it could be a great investment. I’ve owned Ducati’s since 2018, so my outlook on price is skewed lol. Either way, I don’t think you can go wrong. Make sure you check the frame for abnormalities, the bottom of the engine area for leaks, the front radiator for damage, and the front forks for leaks. Good luck!
I was used to my CBR1000RR seat, and that thing was so comfortable. I had to buy the Ducati Comfort seat fro my 1299. Or maybe I don't have enough cushion back there, lol. Take care man!
All I ever do is go fast around twice a day and thats in completely empty roads that are flat. Nobody does wheelies or burnouts on either a bike or sports car so insurance companies are trying to make quick money 💰
Haha. If only insurance companies believed that. It's crazy how many uninsured motorist there are in Florida. If you don't have full-coverage on a bike, you're risking it every time you ride here.
is it worth buying a late 2016 fully loaded RR in black, original condition, maintance at bmw dealership and only 2 Hands for 16.500€? It has 4500miles
I now own a 2017 Panigale 1299 S and a 2018 Panigale V4 Speciale. I sold it to buy the Ducatis. It was a great bike though and I would buy another one for the track!
I didn't track this S1000RR while I owned it in Hawaii. The mean reason....NO TRACKS IN HAWAII...kinda makes it hard, lol. I now live in Florida and I plan on doing a track day soon on my Panigale 1299. I sold the S1000RR a long time ago. Cheers!
Nope. I actually passed on the V4 and bought a 2017 1299s. The Ducati dealer here in Tampa told me about all of the issues the V4's are having due to it being a first year bike. He said to wait 2-3 years and trade in my 1299 in for a "perfected" V4. That's my current plan.
I just got my 2011 BMW s1000rr and my insurance for full coverage w/ Geico is $34.33 a month and I’m 24, I’ve had one bike stolen and crashed my other one.
That’s an awesome rate brother! I was thinking about changing over to Geico myself. A 2011 is considered an “older” bike nowadays, so that could be helping to lower your rate too. Ride safe and enjoy!
Fantastic bike you have there, your other bike the cbr1000rr do you take it in to dealer to for the maintenance ? why not just do the BMW maintenance yourself ? Would you say it is a higher difficulty to do than the cbr ?
The BMW was still under warranty and basically everything you do to it, could void the warranty. That's the main reason I let them do the services. I work on the CBR though!

I 100% love this bike lol ironically I fell in love with the headlights thing looks like a damn transformer lol eventually going to trade my zx6r for one first chance I get
Got mine coming Friday 17/01/25 can not wait
I decided to do an insurance quote on a 2013 s1k, 21 years old and it only came out to $79/m
What was the bike you had before the S1000?
How much did you spend? Looking at same year/mileage and want to see if they’re too high
7:13 if you get a fully loaded BMW and don't wheelie you made the wrong choice. I love wheelies on the BMW
Haha. I'm not quite the wheelie expert, so I didn't want to drop my $20k bike 😉
Now I own a Panigale....and I'm pretty sure I'm not going to wheelie that baby either (not on purpose at least! 😉)
@@TheDucatiPilot enjoy the panigale! I'm getting a 2019 RR this week 😁 had a 2017 single R
@@rewmeister Awesome to hear man! The 2019 is still a proven quality bike. The new 2020's are having issues to include the loss of powerband in the engine before hitting 9k RPM. Good luck, ride safe, and enjoy that baby!
Sounds fantastic! that's the unique feature with the S1000RR. otherwise I'm certainly a fan
Thanks! I miss how smooth this bike was!
The first thing I need to know is how fast it will go on the autobahn because I'm not riding around at 65mph... ha ha ha.
Haha! I'd like to know too. I would be amazing to gun this bad boy on the autobahn. I have driven a Mercedes at 180mph on the autobahn before. It truly would be an experience on a bike!
The sense of speed in a car is exciting in a car. 260 in a panamera is fun, but the sense of speed on a bike must be insane!
My insurance on the 2018 S1000rr is a little over $20 per month. Love my bike, it’s steady and so fast.
What insurance do you have ?
Friend bought one last night.
Now I'm interested, most of my group upgraded to liter bikes(or busas)
Thinking about this now.
Goodluck!
Great thorough review. I love the all-black stealth color and asymmetrical headlights. Ride safe brother!
Appreciate it!
I want one... and I'll be doing the service on it personally... make sure it gets done right
Sounds great! Good luck, ride safe, and enjoy that BEAST!
6:17 : Excuse my ignorance, but how can you have an "interstate" in Hawaii?
I know right?!? There is actually 3! (H1, H2, H3). I assume they call them "interstates" because they are federally funded. Unfortunately the fastest speed limit is 60mph, so riding wasn't fun when I lived in Hawaii.
I have an Ninja H2 and will more than likely get a Gen 3 and use it for track. Might be my 3rd bike but each will have diff purposes 🤙🏾
Never heard of monthly payment on motorcycle insurance. Probably cause im in NY And can only ride them 6 months. I pay like once every 6 months
Thanks for that insight Jerome. I've only lived in Hawaii and Florida (year-round riding), so that makes sense! Cheers!
Good advise, i just subbed, this video really helped me out had my eye on one of these for a while
Thanks brother! Glad to hear the video helped. My goal was to film a straight forward approach to owning a S1000RR so that everyone can easily know what you might be getting into owning this bike. I miss it alot, lol. I do love my new Panigale though! Thanks for the Sub! :)
in my country this beauty costs around $ 59k to $67k for the pro variant ! There are only 2 in my city :P
Holy Cow! That's crazy!!! #blazeitup 🔥🔥🔥
Fuck its tooooo much. In India the pro version on road price is around $36.5K

Still alot, but more manageable!
$21-$24k USD
Cheers!
FirebladePilot
I love the look and the legend of Ducati's but the reality is that even from back in the days of the 851 and 888, I never found them a comfortable bike to ride for more than a couple of hours.
Ride safe my Friend!
i doubt this guy is still paying attention to his page, but how much hp does it have compare to the new ones?
My 2014 S1K had 193 bhp. The 2020 S1K has 205 bhp.
Cheers!
I’m 25, I’ll be 26 in November but it’s either this bike,a 2015-17 Yamaha R1 or R1M, it’ll be my 3rd liter bike I have owned👌🏾

Cheers!
Dreaming about buying this bike even though my country's bike engine cc limit is 150cc
Dang! 150cc?!?! I hope you have the chance to ride a S1000RR one day my Friend!
2014 did come with heated grips
What windshield you got on? Color, brand and size?
Zero Gravity, Double Bubble, Dark tint. It's a great screen!
I thought my insurance was outrageous at 25 haha. What do you pay a month for full coverage? I'm at $150 monthly. Loved the vid
Harleys are great for insurance. I loved how cheap it was on my Softail Slim. Ride safe brother!
So sick bro 😎👌🏼
Thanks man! 🙌🙌🙌
I’m 20 and I appreciate you being honest about the ownership of this bike but I’m still gonna buy one…

Allstate is great if you're under 25! My monthly rate for full coverage on an s1krr is $115. Less than my buddies and he has a Harley Davidson street glide. Give them a try
Thanks for the info Derek! I will definitely get a quote from Allstate. Thanks again!
8:06 Nope. They are like that for a different reason: High Beam vs Low Beam, for a better high it has to be small and focused and for a better low it has to be big and wide.
I guess BMW changed the high vs low on the 2020 model then? They are now symmetrical as you probably already know.
Uff the headlights, uff am in love with her eye's 😘😘
Merry Christmas my friend
Thanks brother! Happy New Year!
did they switch around the headlights for 2015? i see the round headlight sometimes on the left or on the right im confused
Yes, they did! BMW also made the round light a little more pointed at the top too starting in 2015.
why pay insurance at all?
Because people in Hawaii and Florida steal bikes 24/7. They are #1 and #2 in bike theifts across the U.S.
Insurance is what’s keeping me from this bike, at 19 I pay an astronomical amount for my R6, I cannot imagine how much it would be for that.
They dont remove the plug for slick mode, they insert a plug.....
Thanks for the clarification!
stompgip are great but they destroyed all my leathers -ive got holes in the leather thanks to them
That’s a great point. Almost too much grip. On my Panigale V4, I actually use the Ducati tank grips which don’t destroy leather, but the slide down a millimeter after each ride, due to the heat of tank.
So tell me more about this $1200 oil change or whatever the hell lmao.. I just can't...
All great points man. The BMW dealership here has been "stealing" my hard earned money, lol. Take care brother! #blazeitup 🔥🔥🔥
Try to change the oil yourself bro, my friend helped me do it, super easy!
I'm too lazy! lol 😜

WOW! That is crazy man. People here complain about spending over $10k for any bike lol.
@@TheDucatiPilot Welcome to Denmark the fairytale country, even the taxations are crazy enough to be in one. if i buy a brand new lets say 10k bike, first they will add 180% registration tax and after that a flat 25% toll, so retail prize would be 35k

Great point, but 95% of people won't be able to do that. Congrats and mad props to you though! That's awesome! 🔥🔥🔥
What do you mean? If you purchase a bike with cash and you still want to have a new bike if you crash it, you still then need to buy insurance lmao
I was thinking the same thing Swipez. Maybe he was referring to full coverage?
I keep full coverage on mine in case of theft and if I crash it...
Amen brother! I hate paying for insurance, but it pays for itself after using it 1 time! ;)
Good luck!

FirebladePilot is it the V4!?
Im sorry but maintenance can be done by you the rider, no need to pay for anything, well unless you do have the money and don't stress that.
